  • faking NAT with a VMware distributed switch across multiple hosts

    Have a VM that will act as the router, and will be connected to both networks (NAT + 'real'). I spread the distributed switch across the hosts, although any VM that is not on the same physical host as the router/dhcpd simply doesn't get an IP. So its obviously my dvSwitch config. Has anyone achieved a NAT solution using a dvSwitch before that they could share?! Thanks.

  • Can I use wildcards is puppet package ensure to cover multiple releaseversion

    Using puppet I want to update packages on my (CentOS 5 & 6 servers) in a controlled way. Therefore I don't want to use ensure=>latest but rather ensure=>3.0.1-1. Example: class puppet::installation inherits puppet { package { "puppet": ensure => "3.0.1-1", } } The update works alright but puppet agent keeps complaining that there is a difference: /Stage[main]/Puppet::Installation/Package[puppet]/ensure: current_value 3.0.1-1.el6, should be 3.0.1-1 (noop) I can solve this by changing the ensure rule to 3.0.1-1.el6 but than that won't work on CentOS 5. Is there a short/clean way to solve this or do I have to write to seperate, os-releaseversion dependant rules. I have been googling for a solution but didn't find anything pertaining to this particular question. Any suggestion or reference to a relevant example would be appreciated.

I also want to run the same command on any additional connections that start with ica-tcp that the scripts finds in the file. How can I write a script like that in powershell? thanks!

  • How to get Windows Server 2008 VM to use multiple cores

    I have a Windows Server 2008 machine running in VirtualBox. On initial installation, only one processor was made available, but now I want to run it as a multiprocessor machine. I have made all four cores available in the VirtualBox settings (as well as enabling VT-x/AMD-V and Nested Paging), but Task Manager still only shows one CPU. However, the four CPU cores are visible in Device Manager under Processors.   • Please help me with a Git workflow

    I'm an SVN user hoping to move to Git. I've been reading documentation and tutorials all day, and I still have unanswered questions. I don't know if this workflow will make sense, but here's my situation, and what I would like to get out of my workflow: Multiple developers, all developing locally on their work stations 3 versions of the website: Dev, Staging, Production Here's my dream: A developer works locally on his own branch, say "developer1", tests on his local machine, and commits his changes. Another developer can pull down those changes into his own branch. Merge developer1 - developer2. When the work is ready to be seen by the public, I'd like to be able to "push" to Dev, Staging, or Production. git push origin staging or maybe.. git merge developer1 staging I'm not sure. Like I said, I'm still new to it. Here are my main questions: -Do my websites (Dev, Staging, Production) have to be repositories? And do they have to be "bare" in order to be the recipients of new changes? -Do I want one repository or many, with several branches? -Does this even make sense, or am I on the wrong path? I've read a lot of tutorials, so I'm really hoping someone can just help me out with my specific situation. Thanks so much!

    I have the following problem. I want to make multiple Highcharts webcharts appear automatically based on the data from the database. And i have the following query: SELECT a.year AS year1, a.month AS month1, a.id AS id, a.name AS nameuser, a.wins AS wins, a.losses AS losses FROM Sales a WHERE a.month = 1 AND a.year = YEAR(NOW()) With this, it is very easy to hardcode a chart with Highcharts. But what I want is that there has to be a webchart per user. So instead of a single webchart with all the users in it, I want multiple charts next to each other based on the data from the database. So instead of this: http://jsfiddle.net/CWSb6/ I want this (But then next to each other): http://jsfiddle.net/DReMD/ It has to be generated automatically with php and mysql. So if there is a new user starting this month, and the new user is saved in the database, the page automatically displays the new user with the related web chart.     I have two Skype DualPhone 3088's. I signed in to Skype on one of the phone's, and it signed in to the account on both phone's. What I've been trying to do is have one phone signed in to one Skype account and the other signed into another account. I can't find anything to help on their website as when I browse to my specific product it redirects to their homepage. Is what I'm trying to do possible? If so, can someone help explain how to do it?

Since one of my biggest concerns is uptime, is there an application or service, that allows me to use several PaaS Vendors (like Azure, Google App Engine, Amazon Web Services, etc.)? I want my application to be able to respond from one PaaS Vendor to another almost instantly without any downtime, to use the redundancy that this provides. This means that I need to be able to use the different services homogeneously.

I get data sent to me and it looks like this: a 1 a 2 2 a 3 3 b 1 b 2 2 b 3 3 b 4 4 b 5 5 b 6 6 and I need it to look like this: a 1 2 2 3 3 b 1 2 2 3 3 4 4 5 5 6 6 I have about 30 columns that need to move to the top value in their group, then removing the duplicates (to which there are about 33 rows of duplicates, trying to get it down to about 8 rows).   • Accessing multiple local HD's or RAID with ESXi 4.0

    How to I get additional HD's to be recognized and used by ESXi 4.0. When I purchased my system I had two 2TB HD's, but when I installed ESXi it only recognized one of them. I'm happy to get whatever number of drives that I need (I have a four bay SATA in my Dell T310). What are some options? RAID? If so, is it supported. I guess I would need hardware instead of software since ESXi is so small. The VMWare forums (where I've lived for the last two days) are a charlie foxtrot of outdated and conflicting info. I want to utilize my T310, with 32 GB RAM, 2.8GHz quad core to run many lab Windows VM's. I don't need production level availability but I do want decent performance, even though it's in a lab environment. A huge thanks to Jim B., Zypher, Helvick, and Jeff Hengesbach who posted answers to my earlier predecessor question on why ESXi was so sluggish.

  • Connection problems via Wifi (multiple devices)

    I'm having connection issues with my router (Linksys WRT610N) at home. There are a number of things that are happening (may be more, this is just what I've mainly noticed)... 1) Using my laptop (Macbook Pro OSX Lion), I am unable to complete any operations with my external FTP server, hosted with FatCow. I can connect to it, navigate through all the files, but when I try to edit/delete/add a file the operation times out. EVERY time. I've used two other Wifi connection on my laptop and neither have this issue. 2) I am unable to upload photos/videos to Facebook or Twitter using my phone (Samsung Galaxy S2) or my tablet (HP Touchpad - CM9). Neither am I able to upload files to Dropbox via either of the devices. Same thing happens in all situations; the upload will begin and it will just hang on 0% forever. After about 10 mins I am always forced to disconnect the Wifi to stop the action. 3) My laptop is having slow internet speed, even though we are on 20mb broadband. Speedtests say I'm getting a good connection and my Ping is good, but when using streaming services like Spotify, it takes forever to load a page and frequently stops to buffer whilst playing a song. Don't know if it's worth mentioning but I have no issues with my XBox (Ethernet), AppleTV (Wifi) or my girlfrield's phone (Nokia Lumia 800 - WP7.5) on the network. I'd really appreciate any help. This is driving me insane and is really affecting both my working and leisure use of the internet.

Would the filter queries I write for searching users across geographic locations work if I run them on the root AD server ?.   • OS X multiple use of same machine via VNC

    I'm wondering if I can connect to my wife's mac via VNC while she is logged in herself. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't possible, although the machinery should be there with "fast-user-switching" support. So, if I create a profile for myself and I log in (and enable the VNC server/sharing for my profile), and then my wife switches to her own account which she uses on the physical console. Will I be able to use the mac ?

The spreadsheets look similar to the following: DeptHead, Emp, Increment x, A, 2.5% x, B, y, C, 1.5% y, D, y, E, 2.0% I would like to make a pivot table that looks like the following; DeptHead, CountOfEmp, CountOfIncrement x, 2, 1 y, 3, 2 So it provides a count of total number of Emps and total number Increments for each DeptHead ignoring the blanks. I have tried to do this in many ways in Pivot table, but the two counts are only appearing in rows and not in columns as above. Is there any way to achieve this please? Thanks

  • Alias multiple DNS entries to one Amazon S3 Bucket

    I have a bucket on Amazon S3. Lets call it "webstatic.mydomain.com". I have a DNS alias setup for that bucket webstatic.mydomain.com CNAME - web-static.mydomain.com.s3.amazonaws.com. This all works great, however for some rather complicated reasons I now need: webstatic.myOtherDomain.com to point to that same amazon bucket so: webstatic.myOtherDomain.com CNAME - web-static.mydomain.com.s3.amazonaws.com. Fails, as the bucket is not called the same as the referring DNS. Can anyone tell me how to have two different DNS entries pointing to the same amazon bucket?

  • Pin same app multiple times in Windows 7

    I use some programs with command line arguments and like to have shortcuts for launching those programs with those arguments. For example, I keep several Firefox profiles around and like to specify the profile name on the command line. Similarly I have several Eclipse shortcuts with a command line argument specifying the workspace to open. I would like to be able to pin these shortcuts to the start menu or taskbar in Windows 7. The problem I have is that once I've pinned one of these, no other shortcuts which launch the same exe can be launched. I'm also open to suggestions such as a suitable desktop gadget which can contain a bunch of arbitrary shortcuts, yet remain in a fixed position on my desktop somewhere, or some way of adding a secondary taskbar (this was possible in XP).

    I've got a site that is starting to get a lot of traffic and just the other day, we had a network outage at the datacenter where our loadbalancer (haproxy) is hosted at. This worried me as despite all my efforts of making the system fully redundant, I still could not make our DNS redundant, which I think isn't an easy solution. Only thing I was able to find was to sign up for DNS failover from places like dnsme, etc .... but they cost too much for budding startups. Even their Corporate plan only gives you 50 million queries per month and we use that up in a week. So my question is, are there any self hosted DNS we can do that provides the failover like how dnsme does it?

  • MySQL replicate multiple places

    Very trick task to find a good title for this question, but here goes the q: I have a few development machines, where I develop my PHP applications on, and testing via a local webserver. This works out pretty well for each machine. However, I would like to replicate the DB from my machines to a central location. So, to sum up: DEV1 - CENTRAL DEV2 - CENTRAL DEV3 - CENTRAL CENTRAL - DEV1 CENTRAL - DEV2 CENTRAL - DEV3 I hope this makes sense, as I cannot find an easy way to tell it. Basically, it is a 2-way replication, where all 4 databases contain the same info, and each of them can be updated locally, to then be pushed out to the others. Is this actually doable? All my dev machines are running Windows 7, and my central DB server is running CentOS 6.

    I am having the issue, where, I have 2 folders called "My Documents". I recently edited my registry to make "Document" link in the Windows 7 start menu be a FOLDER link and not a LIBRARY link..     I need to construct a NAT for certain machines within the network. Wish to do this with dvSwitch - as it seems the logical way of attacking the problem as in this scenario there's just under 30 hosts. In order for the NAT'ed VM's to have access to the 'real' network. I am providing a 'router' VM, which will have access to the WAN/outside network, and also act as the DHCP server for the NAT'ed machines. Problem Space When the machines connected to the NAT interface and the router are on the same host, then they get an IP from the router VM, and work perfectly (routed outside). Unfortunately machines on other Hosts that are connected to the dvSwitch do not get an IP and further tcpdump shows no network data getting through across the hosts within the dvSwitch. Has anyone achieved a NAT solution using a dvSwitch before that they could share?! Thank you. EDIT: Including the diagram.

  • Save and restore multiple layers within a Photoshop action that flattens

    I'm editing comic pages with layers - "background", "foreground", "lineart" and "over lineart". I have a Photoshop action that includes a Mode-Bitmap command, which requires the image to be flattened. I need this part of the action because I use the Halftone Screen method of reducing the greyscale image to bitmap on the "background" layer, creating a certain effect. I am pretty sure there is no filter or anything else that gives the same effect. After the mode is changed to bitmap, my action changes things back to greyscale for further changes. This poses a problem. I only want to do the bitmap mode change on the background layer, and after I do the change I want to restore the layer structure as it was - with the foreground, lineart and over lineart layers back above the now-halftoned background. My current method of saving these layers and restoring them is clumsy. My action is able to automatically save the "foreground" layer by selecting it, cutting it, then pasting it back in after the mode changing is over. But, for the "ink" and "over ink" layers, I have to manually cut these layers, paste them into a new document, and later re-cut and re-paste after running my action. This is so clunky! What I would like to know is if it's possible to set aside my layers in an automated way, and then bring them back in, also in an automated way. An ugly (but functional) solution would be to replicate my actions of creating new documents and pasting them temporarily there, but I don't think Photoshop allows you to do things outside of your current document with an action. It seems to me that the only way to do what I want is to use the "hack" of incorporating the clipboard into the action as a clever hack, but that leaves me stuck as I have two more layers that can't fit onto that same clipboard. Help or suggestions would be appreciated. I can keep on doing it manually, but to have a comprehensive action would save me a ton of time.
