  When I try to install libapache2-mod-php5, I get an error: Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable distribution that some required packages have not yet been created or been moved out of Incoming. The following information may help resolve the situation: The following packages have unmet dependencies: libapache2-mod-php5 : Depends: apache2-mpm-prefork (> 2.0.52) but it is not going to be installed or apache2-mpm-itk but it is not going to be installed E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages. I have tried apt-get clean, update and upgrade, as well as -f install, and no change. Is there a way to fix this, or is there an easy way to manually install the php plugin?

  I am learning sql server 2008 t-sql. To insert a varchar type, I just need to insert a string 'abc', but for nvarchar type, I need to add N in front (N'abc'). I have a table employee, it has 2 fields, firstname and lastname, they are both nvarchar(20). insert into employee values('abc', 'def'); I test it, it works, seems like N is not required. Why we need to add N in front for nvarchar type, what's the pro or con if we are not using it?

In the same folder I leave a copy of the license. The listing of the folder looks like this: * codeName.js * LICENSE In the file LICENSE is the full text of the license my code uses. What I cannot find anywhere that says is this is enough to say my code is licensed (the case of open-source). Is something more required?

  I'm writing application using quickly Pygtk and glade. this application should have database connection (such as MySQL) for reading and writing data from the local or outsourcing machine \ server. However, in my machine there is MySQL installed, but when releasing the app it sould be installed on another ubuntu machine, which may not have mysql and moreover not the same database with the required database name and structure.... So my questions are: Is it a good choice using mysql as database 1.2 If not what is? • How can i get ubuntu to run smoother?

  I am relatively new to ubuntu [I've used it before and loved it but one day i just randomly couldn't connect to the internet anymore so i switched back to windows... also netflix doesn't work in ubuntu...] and I've noticed that when i used it before everything ran very smoothly and the window animations and stuff like that were just beautiful. now though, everything is choppy and just ugly really. I wanna say its because i was using an older kernel but i really don't know. Anyway, i guess my point is, How can i get it to look pretty again? i really do wish i could be more descriptive but... yeah...   At times when we develop new features or functionality, we gradually "turn it on" to ensure a smooth transition and minimal impact for users. Instead of one big sudden change, we are able to control with the configuration aspects of the functionality that make it more or less intrusive to the user. This is all done in the same release/version of the software, so no software development changes are required (unless bugs turn up that need to be fixed). For example, initially we may only perform logging or analysis of data without acting upon it. Or we make something optional for a period of time before it becomes compulsory. The idea is that this reduces the potential for problems either on the technical side as well as unexpected changes by the user. The question is, is there a formal name for this approach?

  I have a software product. it will probably run on VMs that have no network connection at all. I want the user to pay for each VM the user runs. I thought to ask the user for some kind of hardware ID and provide him with serial that is unique for his machine. But user can just copy the VM image and than have two machines running? So I thought of having a security dongle. But how can I prevent user from running two VM's on the same machine both connected to the same dongle? This should be only basic defense so that actual hacking will be required to breach the license and not only spinning one more VM.

• Benefits of TOGAF or similar?

  I can read the website blurb and be impressed by the alleged benefits, but I haven't worked anywhere or with anyone who followed the TOGAF (or any alternative) architecture framework. Our organisation has declared itself dedicated to moving from what is currently a fairly shambolic design & development model towards something approaching a modern structured process. Things like TOGAF have been mentioned as helping achieve a world-class enterprise development environment (!) but I'm convinced that no-one here really understands the real-world benefits that wholesale adoption might bring and, perhaps more importantly, the effort/pain required to achieve the same. Do you have experience in using TOGAF or similar to wrestle control in an organisation? Do you think that use of the framework brought any benefit? • How do you resolve the error "E: Unmet dependencies." ?

  I did try apt-get -f install but that didn't work either. The problem appeared after installing a modified version of libapache2-mod-wsgi. I modified the package dependencies because, as you can see from the package details link, it depends on python 3. A version of python is required but not version 3 necessarily and I didn't want to install version 3. There's bug #672901 that describes the problem. So, modifying the package dependencies worked but now that I try to install another package I get the error above. How can I get rid of it?

  Purchased a new msi ge 70 series labtop. nvidia card gtx 765m. updated driver after install, and ran update manager. All seems well. restarted as required. Now i have a solid purple screen, even if i use boot menu to recovery mode. all i can do is access grub menu 3.10. live cd will run but i get purple screen and cant see choices. please help and im still learning ubuntu. noob talk prefered. i hate making more mistakes. Thanks also tryed changing lines of kernal code using "e" on boot menu, nomodeset and the like. not helping. any way to fix problem through grub?

  I downloaded this code sample and integrated it into my game http://xbox.create.msdn.com/en-US/education/catalog/sample/mesh_instancing It works with the model that they supplied, but throws and exception whenever I use one of my models. The current vertex declaration does not include all the elements required by the current vertex shader. TextureCoordinate0 is missing. I tried pluging my model into their original source code and same thing. My model is an fbx from blender and has a texture.
