  I am creating a site that allow users to vote on webpages similar to digg.com. Users login with 'facebook connect' and logged in users can submit, vote, comment, etc and these details appear in their profile ie. number of submits, votes, comments, etc. I have also added in facebook 'likes' to the system. I would however like to be able replace the internal voting platform with facebook 'likes'. What I would like to be able to do is identify when any of the site users vote on a facebook 'like'. Although a facebook 'like' can be made outside of my site I am only interested when a logged in user submits a 'like' so this can contribute towards their stats. Is this possible, if so how? • IPhone app with SSL client certs

  I'm building an iphone app that needs to access a web service over https using client certificates. If I put the client cert (in pkcs12 format) in the app bundle, I'm able to load it into the app and make the https call (largely thanks to stackoverflow.com). However, I need a way to distribute the app without any certs and leave it to the user to provide his own certificate. I thought I would just do that by instructing the user to import the certificate in iphone's profiles (settings-general-profiles), which is what you get by opening a .p12 file in Mail.app and then I would access that item in my app. I would expect that the certificates in profiles are available through the keychain API, but I guess I'm wrong on that. 1) Is there a way to access a certificate that I've already loaded in iphone's profile in my app? 2) What other options I have for loading a user specified certificate in my app? The only thing I can come up with is providing some interface where the user can give an URL to his .p12 cerificate, which I can then load into the app's keychain for later use, but thats not exactly user-friednly. I'm looking for something that would allow the user to put the cert on phone (email it to himself) and then load it in my app.

• Wordpress displays posts of category ID

  Can't seem to find the right answer for what I thought would be trivial. I have some categories arranged like this... Parent Category 1 - Child Category 1 - Child Category 2 - Child Category 3 ...and I have some posts that are in Child Category 2. I want my page to display all posts from the category I am currently in. This is what I am doing right now: <?php query_posts('cat=2&showposts=10'); if (have_posts()) : while (have_posts()) : the_post(); ?> <div class="timeline"> <h3><?php the_title(); ?></h3> <?php the_content();?> <?php endwhile; else: ?> <?php _e('No Posts Sorry.'); ?> <?php endif; ?> </div> As you can see I am having to manually specify the category (cat=2), but instead I want it to automatically detect the category I am already in and display the posts (that way if I'm in a different category it will display those posts). However, I get a validation error stating the project_id is blank. My controller method: def create # @project is created in before_filter if @project.save flash[:notice] = "Successfully created project." redirect_to @project else render :action => 'new' end end Do I need to manually set the project_id in each nested member record? Or what is necessary for the controller to populate when it creates the member records?

• Browser Based Streaming Video/Audio (not progressive download)

  Hello, I am trying to understand conceptually the best way to deliver real streaming audio and video content. I would want it to be consumed with a web browser, utilizing the least amount of proprietary technology. I wouldn't be serving static files and using progressive download, this would be real audio streams being captured live. How does one broadcast a stream that will be reasonably in sync with the source? What kind of protocol is suitable? Edit: In research I've found that there are a few protocols: RTSP, HTTP Streaming, RTMP, and RTP. HTTP streaming is somewhat unsuitable if you are streaming a live performance/communication of some kind because it relies on TCP (as its HTTP based) and you don't lose packets. In a low bandwidth situation, the client can get significantly behind in playback. ref RTMP is a proprietary technology, requiring flash media server. Crap on that. The reason I looked at flash is because they are extremely flexible as far as user experience goes. SoundManager2 provides an excellent javascript interface for playing media with flash. This is what I would look for in a client application. RTSP/RTP is what Microsoft switched to using, deprecating their MMS protocol. RTSP is the control protocol. Its similar to HTTP with a few distinct difference -- server can also talk to the client, and there are additional commands, like PAUSE. Its also a stateful protocol, which is maintained with a session id. RTP is the protocol for delivering the payload (encoded audio or video). There are a few open sourced projects, one of them being supported by apple here. It seems like this might do what I want it to, and it looks like quite a few players support it. It sounds like it would be suitable for a "live" broadcast from this page here. Thanks, Josh

  Hello, I am writing large WORD2007 socuments, which are often being changed. I ahve to number paragraphs with stationary unique unmbers, that will not change while changing the documents. The numbers should be unique, and will not change even if previous numbers are deleted. The order of the list is not mandatory, and addition of a new number before existing numbers is possible (for instance: the sequence 1, 4, 3 means that paragraphs 1-3 were written, then #2 was deleted, then #5 was added. #3 was not affected by the later editing) The mechanism should be internal to the document, as I am working on line and off line. The numbers are allocated to every document indovidually. Since I don't know to program under WORD, I'd appreciate getting complete solution. REgards Ganish

• Slug ID's with the same name?

  I want to create slug URL's from a users title in my system. If a user types "The best way's to get slim; period!", then I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period". Also, if someone has already created a page with that title I want the slug to be "the-best-ways-to-get-slim-period-1". My question is how can I check the database before a record is created? Ok, obviously I am going to have to perform a check in the database, and then a write. That's 2 queries. Is this the normal way to do it? Also, are there any conventional regular expressions for filtering non alpha/number characters and replacing spaces with hyphens? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

• Parse HTML file to grab all ID and Classes for a CSS file

  Hey all, A short while ago, I'm fairly certain I came across an application (or perhaps a plugin for Coda - the IDE I use) which quickly parses a html document and then spits out all of the elements with IDs and Classes for me to use in a CSS file. Having fully 'got into' zen coding - using the wonderful TEA plugin for Coda, I'm now hot on the heels of this app/plugin again. I've tried and failed miserably at hunting through Google, but have come up completely empty handed. Does anyone know of anything which can do this? Happy New Year everyone!

• How do I securely authenticate the calling assembly of a WCF service method?

  The current situation is as follows: We have an production .net 3.5 WCF service, used by several applications throughout the organization, over wsHttpBinding or netTcpBinding. User authentication is being done on the Transport level, using Windows integrated security. This service has a method Foo(string parameter), which can only be called by members of given AD groups. The string parameter is obligatory. A new client application has come into play (.net 3.5, C# console app), which eliminates the necessity of the string parameter. However, only calls from this particular application should be allowed to omit the string parameter. The identity of the caller of the client application should still be known by the server because the AD group limitation still applies (ruling out impersonation on the client side). I found a way to pass on the "evidence" of the calling (strong-named) assembly in the message headers, but this method is clearly not secure because the "evidence" can easily be spoofed. Also, CAS (code access security) seems like a possible solution, but I can't seem to figure out how to make use of CAS in this particular scenario. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to solve this issue? Edit: I found another thread on this subject; apparently the conclusion there is that it is simply impossible to implement in a secure fashion.

  I want to send an image from a J2ME client to a Servlet. Their values are 0A and 0D hex. Exactly, the Carriage Return and Line Feed. Thus, either POST method or readLine() are not able to accept 0A and 0D values. Any one have any idea how to do this, or how to use any another method?

• Symfony/Propel NestedSet left/right ID corruption/adjustment

  Hi folks, I have a nested set application that seems to be getting corrupted. Here's what I'm seeing: We're using nested sets for a binary tree (any node can have 2 children). It appears to be working fine, but some event causes a discrepancy. For instance, when I do a getNumberOfDescendants() for the root node, it will slowly increase as this event happens. However, displaying the tree works fine, as does inserting (apparently). Has anybody seen anything like this before? For instance, my repair program shows this as the repairs that it makes: User pxxxxx left 0=>0, right 145=>129 User axxxxx left 1=>1, right 124=>106 User mxxxxx left 119=>117, right 120=>118 User fxxxxx left 125=>107, right 144=>128 User fxxxxx left 126=>108, right 131=>113 User rxxxxx left 127=>109, right 128=>110 User mxxxxx left 129=>111, right 130=>112 User mxxxxx left 132=>114, right 143=>127 User cxxxxx left 133=>115, right 142=>126 User gxxxxx left 134=>116, right 137=>121 User mxxxxx left 135=>119, right 136=>120 User jxxxxx left 138=>122, right 141=>125 User axxxxx left 139=>123, right 140=>124 I thought at first it was when I deleted a user, but it has since occurred w/o that event. • Socket errors of 10048 on the client? Possible causes?

  Hello, I'm writing a custom TCP server and client and on doing a ton of requests (60,000 to be exact) I begin to get this socket error of 10048, which should mean "the address is already in use." The error keeps happening unless I pause the process for like 2 or 3 minutes and then begin it again, and then it begins to bring up the same error a short while after restarting it. If I pause the client process and restart the server process, I still get the same error on the client. So it is a complete client side problem. This does not make sense though, this error only usually occurs when binding and this error happens on the client and not the server. What could be the possible reasons for it? A small excerpt of my initialization: TcpClient client = new TcpClient(); client.Connect("XXXXX -- some ip", 25000); client.NoDelay = true; NetworkStream clientStream = client.GetStream(); Also, everything else seems to be working fine(including the amount of time it takes to send back and forth) and this works perfectly when using 127.0.0.1 but when putting it on another LAN computer I begin to get the 10048 error. Is there something wrong with how I initialize it? What else could cause this error on the client side?

  Hey, I have a simple question. I implemented custom soap extension and registered it into client application configuration file. It works fine. (I would like to implement progress bar functionality like http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa480520.aspx) But I don't like some thing - custom soap extension is invoked by every call of my web service. In order to fix this situation (call WS just by required methods) I implemented custom SoapExtensionAttribute like below: [AttributeUsage(AttributeTargets.Method)] public class CustomSoapExtensionAttribute : SoapExtensionAttribute { public override int Priority { get; set; } public CustomSoapExtensionAttribute() : this (1) { } public CustomSoapExtensionAttribute(int priority) { Priority = priority; } public override Type ExtensionType { get { return typeof(CustomSoapExtension); } } } I added this attribute to required methods of web service proxy classes (and removed registration into client configuration file). My soap extension doesn't invoke when required web methods are calling. Can someone help me to solve this problem or select any other solution? • I/O between AIR client using Native process and executable java .jar

  I am using Adobe AIR 2.0 native process API to launch a java executable jar. I/O is handled by writing to the input stream of the java process and reading from the output stream. The application is event based where several events are fired from the server.   Hi, I have One grid say Grid 1 in which there are some columns. There is one view image button, one delete image button and one column which says that color column is Red or Blue. If color column is Red the deleted button is hidden else its shown (Based on user given rights to delete a column or not). Now a user clicks a view button for Red Color Column. If this condition is satisfied, then i want that delete icon should not be present in Grid 2. Grid 2 has 2 columns. One is deleted image button and one is file name (which is uploaded via upload control). So If in Grid One "View Image Button" is clicked for "Red" Column i should be able to hide the delete button from Grid 2. I have tried by writing code in Item command but i am not able to access control of grid2. is this the correct way? Or else suggest me some correct way. Please Make sure that code is compatible with VS 2003. let me know if more inputs are needed. Thanks

  I would like to know if there is a Facebook API call to retrieve the events (eids) for all the events a user has created using my facebook connect application. The events are created using the following REST api call: https://api.facebook.com/method/events.create?event_info=' . $e_i . '&access_token=' . $cookie['access_token'] $e_i is the event info array where the 'host' value is set to 'Me' as follows $event_info['host'] = 'Me'; On Facebook events under the "Created by:" section it lists "My user name,Application Name", I presume this is because I am the creator and the application is the admin as stated in the REST api documentation http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/rest/events.create/ Unfortunately I cannot seem to find out how (neither REST nor GPRAPH API) to return a list of events where I am the creator and the application is the admin as in the above scenario. If this is possible I would really appreciate some assistance with how it is done. So far I have tried: REST API events.get using uid=application_id. This only returns events created by the application not those including the user who created them GRAPH API https://graph.facebook.com/me/events?fields=owner&access_token=... this returns all the events for 'me' but not where the application is also the admin. It seems strange that there's no reference to the linkage between the event creator and the event admin through the API but in Facebook it is able to pull both and display them on the event details.

When the user long clicks I would like to present them with a contextmenu allowing them to select edit, delete etc... and then identify the listitem that was selected as the item to perform the action on.   I have some textboxes on a webform that have ids like this: txtFinalDeadline_1 txtFinalDeadline_2 txtFinalDeadline_3 txtFinalDeadline_4 In my jQuery how do I find all of those in order to assign a value to them. Before I had the underscore and they were all named txtFinalDeadline I could do this and it worked. $(this).find("#txtFinalDeadline").val(formatDate); However, that was when they were all named the same thing. Now I have the _x after the name and I'm not sure how to go about assigning that same value as before to them. Thanks.

  Hello I'm having problems sending arrays, structs and arrays of structs from PHP to an ASP.NET SOAP server... Anyone have a sollution for this? I've googled for days and any sollution worked for me. Perphaps I'm forgetting something... I've tried creating classes for the complex types too, instead of stdClass, but not working. I don't know where's the problem. The server admins cannot help me and I haven't found any sollution over internet. I'm a bit desperate hehe. Can you help me please? Can you provide samples of code with the three cases (array of simple data, array of struct and struct) ? Thanks!
