• BIOS not detecting working SATA hard drive

  Some time ago my power supply died. It's a long story from then till now, but the important bit is that I ended up with a new hard drive and a new power supply. I tested to see if my original hard drive was still alive, and it booted and worked perfectly until I turned it off. When I started it again it would not boot. I bought new SATA cables, assuming that the one I had was not seating properly (it was cheap and wobbly), but no dice. Upon start-up I am presented with a message telling me to insert boot media into the selected drive or add a drive and restart. Neither the new or the old drive is detected by BIOS, my Vista install disk, or from my bootable Linux USB drive. When I remove all of the RAM the computer ceases outputting visual information, and upon reinstalling the ram and starting up again gives me a "failed overclock" error. So, does anyone have an idea as to what might be going on? I'm completely lost at this point.

• Failover Cluster Quorum Failing

  Hi, I have two nodes which boots from iscsi to implement windows 2008 cluster. And I'm using disk majority option as quorum over iscsi. But when the quorum's iscsi connection failed(May be san server reset), the failover cluster is failed too. If I reset one of the nodes, it can open, but its system disk goes offline. I cant change its status as online, because it says that its reserved by failover cluster(disk is on iscsi, beacuse iscsi boot). And this disk works as readonly. Anything on it cant be deleted or written. So, I cant rejoin the node to the cluster again. I have to reinstall windows. So, what I'm asking is, how can I implement more quorum backup? I mean, can I use both disk majority and file share majority at same time? AFAIK, every nodes also keep the quorum's copy too. But I don't know sometimes san servers goes offline. And quorum's iscsi connection and nodes' iscsi connections get lost. So, nor the quorum that is kept in the nodes neither the quorum iscsi disk is not enough to start the cluster again. I want to use both disk majority and file share majority at the same time. Can I do this? Have you any other suggestion? Regards.

• Strange network connectivity problem

  Here is my network connectivity: cable modem | |(WAN) wrt54g (default gateway, 192.168.1.1) -- earth |(LAN) | Simple Switch1 | | | | | SimpleSwitch2- neptune | | | | mars mercury | |- venus | |- laptop | saturn (Windows AD DC) simpleSwitch2 was hanging off the wrt54g. I moved it to SW1 during troubleshooting. Nothing described below was any different. earth is connected via wireless to the wrt54g. I can ping from laptop to mars, neptune & mercury. I can ping from earth to venus, saturn & laptop. However, pinging mars, mercury or neptune from earth gives the following result. Pinging mars.XXX.XXX [192.168.1.105] with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Reply from 192.168.1.122: Destination host unreachable. Ping statistics for 192.168.1.105: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), .122 is the address of the machine from which I am pinging. earth is a Vista machine. Windows firewall is off. saturn is my DNS & DHCP server. Can anyone give me any ideas what the h*ll is going on? Clearly the topology is a factor And yes, I am a space geek.

• MySQL Not Turning On

  I have an amazon ec2 instance running on the Amazon Linux AMI and its a micro instance. I wanted to install Django onto my server so I entered these commands wget http://www.mlsite.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/go wget http://www.mlsite.net/blog/wp-content/uploads/2008/11/django.conf chmod 744 go ./go So after I was done, I ran sudo service httpd restart and sudo service mysqld restart and This is what came up for mysqld: Stopping mysqld: [ OK ] MySQL Daemon failed to start. Starting mysqld: [FAILED] So I deleted the django files /usr/local/python2.6.8/site-packages/django_registration.egg and I tried finding the error and I found out that in my /etc/my.cnf for the socket, it said socket=/var/lock/subsys/mysql.sock so I went to /var/lock/subsys/ and there was no mysql.sock. I tried creating one using vim but it still didn't work. Then I checked the error log and it said Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) So I am pretty much lost right now. I know it has something to do with mysql.sock If you might know a reason why this was caused could you please let me know? I have a wordpress site on my server, so i kind of need MySQL to work. • Using Samba to share a folder from a Linux guest with a Windows host in VirtualBox

  I would like to share a folder from a Linux Guest with a Windows host (with read and write access if possible) in VirtualBox. I read in these two links: here and here that it's possible to do this using Samba, but I am a little bit lost and I need more information on how to proceed. So far, I managed to set up two network adapters (one NAT and one host-only) and install Samba on the Linux guest, but now I have the following questions: What do I need to type in samba.conf to share a folder from the Linux guest? (the tutorial provided in one of the links above only explains how to share home directories) Are there any Samba commands that need to be executed on the guest to enable sharing? How do I make sure that these folders are only available to the host OS and not on the Internet? Once the Linux guest is setup, how do I access each of the individual shared folders from the Windows host? I read that I need to mount a drive on Windows to do this, but do I use Samba logins, or Linux logins, also do I use localhost? or do I need to set up an IP for this? Thanks!

• Moving a site from IIs6 to IIS7.5

  I need to move a site off of IIS6 (Win Server 2003) and onto IIS7.5 (Win Server 2008) as soon as possible. Preferably tomorrow. The site itself is a delightful mix of classic asp (vbscript) and one-off asp.net (C#) applications (each asp.net app is in its own virtual dir and has a self-contained web.config). In case it's relevant, this is a sort of research site made up of 40 or 50 unconnected microsites. Each microsite is typically a simple form allowing a user to submit a form, which then runs a Stored Proc on a sqlserver db and displays a chart and/or table of the results. There is very little security to worry about. The database connection info is in a central file (in the case of the classic asp) or app's individual web.config (lots of duplication there) To add a little spice to the exercise... I have no idea how to admin IIS The company no longer employs the sysadmin or the guys who set this thing up. (They're not going to employ me much longer either but my sense of professional pride does not permit me to just walk away from this task). The servers are on mutually firewalled networks and I have to perform a convoluted, multi-step process to copy anything from one to the other. Would someone please point me to a crash-course tutorial for accomplishing the above? I have: a complete copy of the site's filesystem on the new box installed the 3rd party charting tool on the new system a config.xml file from the "all tasks - save configuration to a file" right click menu. There doesn't seem to be a way to import it on the new system however. The newer IIS manager has a completely different UI and I'm totally lost. Please help.

• Active Directory: how to be SURE users can change their own passwords?

  Working on some project where a tool we have has to authenticate against AD connecting via LDAPS and perform password changes if required or requested. IN THEORY, the tool does that, and we have seen it work in other projects. IN PRACTICE, against this particular directory, it fails. Been driving me crazy. The particulars of the situation: Windows 2003 AD Defined a "technical user" for the LDAP connection with rights to change users passwords When password change is required - in this case, because pwdLastSet is 0 - the tool uses the technical account to go, bind to the controller and change the user password. If password change is not required but the user request it, then the bind is done with the user account. That last condition is the one that doesnt work. With the technical user the password change is possible, but with the user itself, it isnt. We get an error like this: LDAP access failed: javax.naming.directory.InvalidAttributeValueException: [LDAP: error code 19 - 0000052D: AtrErr: DSID-03190F00, #1: 0: 0000052D: DSID-03190F00, problem 1005 (CONSTRAINT_ATT_TYPE), data 0, Att 9005a (unicodePwd) no idea what DSID-03190F00 means cause it doesnt seem to be anywhere in google :-/ Been looking at several MS documentation pages and frankly, I'm not understanding one bit of it. There is some "control access right" called User-Change-Password that may, or may not, control what objects have the right to change their own password, which may, or may not, have to do with ACE and ACLs... There is GPO. There is maybe the password policy but it is only set to ask for passwords of 6 chars or more... Can anybody explain to me in easy-to-check steps how can I go and tell the AD admin guy (who is as lost as me) what to do to ensure that users in the AD directory (objectClass top,person,organizationalPerson and user) are able to change their own passwords by themselves? • Intermittent FTP login issues (Microsoft IIS FTP Service)

  I've got a somewhat weird problem which I'm not sure how to troubleshoot. We have a FTP running on a Windows Server 2003 machine using the IIS FTP Service, this is for our clients and is configured with IP-restrictions. However, now ONE of the clients starts complaining that they can't log in to the server from time to time. This is just ONE of 10+ clients that have this issue, which makes me think it's a problem on their side. Just to be on the safe side I had a peek into the FTP logs and found something strange. • PC -> TV HDMI suddenly doesn't work, any other option does

  So my parents wanted to connect their PC to their TV, so they bought a 10m (35 ft) cable. It all worked perfectly. Then my mom tripped over the cable, breaking it. She somehow got a free replacement, but at the same time some more expensive one from an uncle. Now the problem is that this suddenly doesn't work anymore (TV saying "Format not supported"). I've tried several other things to pinpoint the actual problem, but none brought me something conslusive: PC (hdmi) to TV doesn't work (both cables) PC (hdmi) to TV doesn't work (short cable) Laptop (hdmi) to TV work (same cables) BluRay (hdmi) to TV works (same cables) PC (hdmi) to monitor works (same cables) PC (DVI w/ adapter HDMI) to TV works (same cables) I've tried different ports, tried Linux, reinstalling drivers (the graphics card is internal using an i5 sandy bridge. Normally it's running Windows 7 Home Prem, the TV being a Philips 37PFL7605H). So basically, everything works, except that thing what we want. The only things I am thinking of is that the sound is interfering or that the HDMI-output is somehow broken. Or is it anything else? I'm kind of lost.

• iTunes copy just metadata (song and album ratings, playlists) from iPod

  I have an iPod touch that I synched with my Windows computer (iTunes 9.0 I think) until my harddrive failed and I lost my entire library. I rebuilt the library (songs) from a year old backup (and various other source for songs) but my playlists and ratings are of course a year old. My iPod itself has most of the playlists and ratings I care most about (favorite songs and albums, rated 4 and 5, for example). I have a catch 22 situation where I feel nervous that I haven't backed up my iPod in around 4 months (when my drive failed) so I'd like to back it up as soon as possible... but if I back it up I have to clear all the songs and playlists and copy them back, which I can't really do since I need to rebuild my playlists on my computer first (using the data only available on my iPod!) The question: is there a better way to READ the information off my iPod than doing it manually, song by song and album by album and playlist by playlist (XML, text dump, database, spreadsheet, anything). In other words, mostly I want the information (metadata like ratings and playlists, not songs) copied off the iPod so I can more quickly get my iTunes library ratings and playlists re-built (manually) so I can finally wipe the music and back up my apps, etc. Then I'd like to copy the music back immediately. The part I'd like to avoid is manually navigating everything on my iPod to read through all the playlists and ratings (50 GB, 6,000+ songs) as I re-enter all of that data by hand. I've done a few dozen albums and it's pretty time consuming having to tap around on the iPod. Reading from a spreadsheet (for example, or XML which I could write a script to get into spreadsheet form) would probably help tremendously, plus then I'd have a backup of that information somewhere besides just my iPod.

• Requests are making it to my app server, but not into node.js -- why?

  I detailed in this question on StackOverflow how some random requests are not making it from the client to my Node.js app server, resulting in a gateway timeout. In summary, identical requests are, at random, not even making it far enough to trigger a console.log() in my first line of express middleware. I need to narrow down the problem, though, to find out WHERE the traffic is being lost and it was suggested that I try a packet sniffer on my app servers. Here's my setup: 2x Load Balancers (m1.larges) 2x node.js servers (also m1.large) Here's what's interesting/unusual: the node.js servers started as PHP servers with an Apache stack and continue to serve PHP files for my domain (streamified.me). However, I use a little httpd.conf magic on the app servers so that requests to api.streamified.me get routed over port 8888 to the node.js server: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^api.streamified.me RewriteRule ^(.*) http://localhost:8888$1 [P] So, the request hits the load balancer = goes to an app server = gets routed to port 8888 if it's intended for the API = gets handled by node.js So, in the same httpd.conf file, I turned on RewriteLogLevel 5 and then created a simple PHP+CURL script on my localhost to hit my api.streamified.me with a random URL (which should cause node.js to trigger a simple "not found" response) until it resulted in a Gateway timeout. Here, you can see that it has happened -- and the rewrite log shows that the request was definitely received by the app server and forwarded to port 8888... but it was never received by node.js (or, at least, the first line of code in the first line of middleware never gets it...) • MySQL ADO.NET Connector & MSSQL Integration Services

  Here I am, day three... attempting to sync a data view on a Windows Vista box (64 bit) running MSSQL 2012 and Visual Studio 2010. Sanity is slipping and hunger for progress fills my attention. I went through hell trying to get the MySQL ODBC drivers to get the job but to no avail...everyone seems to be lost and all the threads I can find are solutions that do not work for me. The problem: System DSN's not being seen by SSIS. SSIS DSN Not Showing as ODBC Data Source I make the decision to try out the ADO.NET connector...and to my surprise it is actually in the selection list in data sources in SSIS. So I take off running to create a Data Flow Task, create an ADO.NET Source (a local MSSQL DB)...all is good as usual. Then I move swiftly to creating a ADO.NET Destination, enter my credentials...wow, I am selecting a database finally on my linux server! Happy thinking that I finally have figured a way to get the job done. Then I move to mappings...nope, something is wrong...I am getting an error that hurts my eyes: Pipeline component has returned HRESULT error code 0xC0208457 from a a method call. Error at Data Flow Task [ADO NET Destination [81]]: Failed to get properties of external columns. The table name you entered may not exist or you do not have SELECT permission on the table object and an alternative attempt to get column properties through connection has failed. Detailed error messages are" You have an error in your SQL syntax check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near "database".tablename" at line 1. The descriptor files on path C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\110\DTS\ProviderDescriptors\ does not contain schema information for connection of type MySQL.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlConnection. So it looks like it can't the information and therefore I cannot map the tables properly. Any ideas on this would be ultra helpful...thanks in advance to All!

• Linux Software RAID1: How to boot after (physically) removing /dev/sda? (LVM, mdadm, Grub2)

  A server set up with Debian 6.0/squeeze. During the squeeze installation, I configured the two 500GB SATA disks (/dev/sda and /dev/sdb) as a RAID1 (managed with mdadm). The RAID keeps a 500 GB LVM volume group (vg0). In the volume group, there's a single logical volume (lv0). vg0-lv0 is formatted with extfs3 and mounted as root partition (no dedicated /boot partition). The system boots using GRUB2. In normal use, the systems boots fine. Also, when I tried and removed the second SATA drive (/dev/sdb) after a shutdown, the system came up without problem, and after reconnecting the drive, I was able to --re-add /dev/sdb1 to the RAID array. But: After removing the first SATA drive (/dev/sda), the system won't boot any more! A GRUB welcome message shows up for a second, then the system reboots. I tried to install GRUB2 manually on /dev/sdb ("grub-install /dev/sdb"), but that doesn't help. Appearently squeeze fails to set up GRUB2 to launch from the second disk when the first disk is removed, which seems to be quite an essential feature when running this kind of Software RAID1, isn't it? At the moment, I'm lost whether this is a problem with GRUB2, with LVM or with the RAID setup. Any hints?

• 1080p monitor: connected through VGA - perfect, HDMI - awful

  When I connect my 23" monitor (1920x1080) to my pc through HDMI, I encourage some problems. It's not full screen That's it. There are ~1cm black borders on right and left side and ~0,5cm black borders on the top and the bottom of the monitor. That's pretty frustrating. I tried adjusting overscan, but I can't mannualy type the % of overscan that I need. I can only select between ex. 8 and 10% in AMD Vision Engine Control center, but what I need is 9%. Next, even if i select 10% and the image fits all the corners, but after log off all the settings are lost and I have to do it again and again. Text, images, everything looks blurry That surprised me a lot. Should'nt HDMI quality be better than VGA's one? When connected through HDMI, the text isn't readable. It's like a very low refresh rate, although i'm running at 60Hz. Also the text has something like little shadows, very very annoying. Are there any tips to get the same quality as with VGA, with HDMI ? (running on integrated ATI Radeon HD4200, which, appearently, is the best card I have ever seen in terms of integrated ones)

• Not able to access Silverlight.net and ONLY Silverlight.net - All other domains work!

  Alrighty folks, I have an extremely odd problem. I am able to surf the web fine with one odd (and really annoying at the moment) exception: Microsoft's Silverlight.net. Every other site that I go to works just fine. This is quite frustrating because I'm in the middle of programming a web app in Silverlight 4.0, and whenever I do a search for any code examples, tutorials, or whatnot at least 50% of the results are hosted in the silverlight.net forums. The error message that I get is: Oops! Google Chrome could not find www.silverlight.net It doesn't work in my other browsers either (both IE and FireFox). What's odd, is that while the error message would lead me to assume it's a DNS error, I can ping the URL just fine. • Ubuntu in failed state after upgrade from 10.04 to 10.10 - How to recover?

  I was running Ubuntu 10.04 and attempted to upgrade to 10.10. I have a really slow connection (DSL 128kbits/sec) and copying the upgrade files took about 26 hours. I of course let it run unattended. When I came back, I notice the following 3 dlgs: 1. Could not install the upgrades The upgrade has aborted. Your system could be in an unusable state. A recovery will run now (dpkg -- configure -a). 2. gpk-update-icon Distribution upgrades available maverick 10.10 (stable) [more information] [Do no show this again] [Cancel] [Ok] 3. gpk-update-icon Security updates available The following important updates are available for your computer: libwebkit-1.0-2-dbg - Web content engine library for Gtk+ - Debugging symbols libcupsimage2 - Common UNIX Printing System(tm) - Raster image library ... What is the best response to all of this? I went through something similar in an attempted network upgrade from 8.04 to 10.04 and had to reload the unbootable machine fresh from distribution media (all data was lost). I'd like to avoid that here. I have not yet responded to the dialogs, and want to make sure the system is still bootable and not lose my data this time.

• RPC Server Unavailable on Hyper-V cluster when moving resources after the host adapter has failed

  On a Windows 2008 R2 SP1 cluster running Hyper-V, a lost network connectivity on the primary host interface. The interface was rapidly flapping up and down, and this was later determined to be caused by a faulty switch port. As this was a clustered server, the host interface was not fault tolerant (seeing as how the whole server was fault tolerant), so connectivity to the host was going up and down. The Hyper-V guests were completely unaffected by the network outage as they used a dedicated trunk on the server separate from the host interface. Additionally, dedicated interfaces for the cluster and live migration networks were fine. In order to diagnose the server, I tried to move all resources (Hyper-V Guests) to other nodes through Failover Cluster Manager. These moves failed with an error RPC Server Unavailable. The only way to move resources was by shutting down the guests, stopping the cluster service on the Node A, allowing other nodes to take ownership of the resources, and restarting the guests. A few other notes: All nodes have Client for MS Networks and File & Printer Sharing enabled on the Cluster and LM networks. Node A was accessible over cluster and LM networks from other nodes (these are private, cluster-only networks); pingable, CIFs, etc. Accessing \\NODEA is done over the Host adapters, as you would expect in this case and is the reason for the RPC Server Unavailable error with that adapter being down. My questions here are - Is there a way to still use Live Migration in a failure scenario such as this to prevent shutting down the Hyper-V guests? How can the network be reconfigured in the future so that the cluster service attempts to use the cluster and/or live migration networks to issue the RPC requests?

• realtek lan driver problem - win 7

  Hi, my new notebook (ACER TM 8371) with Win 7(x32) professional as OS, has strage behaviour with respect to LAN. when I plug or unplug my charger cable, or my notebook goes in stad-by, or just a do nothing, the netwrok connection is lost. • Why Would one VLAN have no Communication on one Switch?

  So the problem is we have a device or host that needs to communicate on a specific VLAN. This VLAN is not new, it is running all throughout our environment and works fine. But the VLAN was recently configured on the switch in question, a Cisco 3750. The DHCP server is handing out addresses on that VLAN with no problem. I have verified the cable between the host and switch and tried multiple hosts, but none of them can communicate or get an address. I plugged my laptop into an empty port which had a different VLAN assigned and immediately got a DHCP address. When I changed that port to the same VLAN I'm having issues with I got the same problem. The laptop just sits there and tries to DHCP an address but nothing happens. I double checked the cores and their Layer 3 VLAN config and its fine too. Plus I figured the issue couldn't be with them because the VLAN works fine everywhere else it exists. So the only other thing I can think of is the switch, but the VLAN exists on the switch and seems to be configured correctly. The trunks appear to be configured just fine as well too. Anyone have any ideas? I'm lost on this one.

• Server side url scanner for malware, spyware , viruses and protect my visitors

  I have a forum/groups site that contains a lot of external URLs, sometimes direct download links. I want to protect my visitors from possible attacks from malware sites as they are mot likely to click on these links. CUrrently I implement DBL (spamhaus) but thats not enough. I want to run a background task to check the outgoing links first. I have looked at similar questions in StackOverflow (wrongly posted there) and here but fail to find a question same as mine or a good answer. People have suggested ClamAV , I don't believe it can detect Web hosted malware sites and its has a lot of missed detection. I have looked at google safe browsing service ( http://code.google.com/apis/safebrowsing/developers_guide_v2.html very complicated to implement or maintain plus midway I get lost :S ) I can go for commercial solution, anything to protect the visitors and my site brand. But I would like to hear the opinion of server admins and if anyone has implemented such a service. My Server is basic CentOS LAMP stack. thank you very much in advance.

• Windows 7: Wi-Fi connection drops intermittently - only returns after "Troubleshoot connection" resets the adapter

  On our laptop (running Windows 7) the Wi-Fi connection drops intermittently. Symptoms: Connectivity is suddenly lost, and the "signal strenght" indicator in the tray shows zero strength and a yellow "star" symbol. What happens then: The problem does not resolve itself by just waiting. If I click on the tray icon, the "Windows network diagnostics" wizard pops up and tells me that there is a networking problem (duh). If I click on the "repair" button (not sure about the wording), the wizard works for a while, then reports that it has reset the network adapter. Then Wi-Fi works again. While the above procedure has worked every time so far, it is very annoying. It takes 10-20s to repair the connection, and in the meantime downloads, video streams etc. may have been aborted. Some more details: The problem occurs without any apparent regularity, but usually a few minutes after powerup (though not every time). It happens frequently enough to be annoying. It is unlikely to be a router problem - another laptop running at the same time usually has no Wi-Fi problems. I am at a loss about what to try to troubleshoot this. Any ideas? • KVM Guest Reboot Loop

  I have been pulled into a situation where a KVM server (CentOS 6.2) lost power and upon reboot one of the guests hasn't started up again (XP SP3). I have SSH'ed in and someone must have changed something relating to the hyper visors prior to the power loss, but not rebooted all the guests. This particular guest wouldn't start because it was configured to use /usr/bin/qemu-system-x86_64 which isn't there now (assuming it was before?). I changed it to use /usr/libexec/qemu-kvm as this is what all the other guests on this server seem to be using, and its booting up. Using virt-manager on my local machine I can connect to the display of the XP machine and it gets as far as this screen; http://support.gateway.com/emachines/issues/2-1131285152-01.gif The problem I face now, is that which ever option I choose the machine just reboots. So it's and endless loop. I thought that perhaps a file system error maybe present due to the unclean shutdown. There is an XP SP3 ISO mounted under the guest, which I booted from in an attempt to access the recovery tools, but I don't have the Administrator password! I am out of ideas, and it's turning out to be quite the conundrum. Should I use a 3rd party live CD to test the FS for errors? How else can I trouble shoot these restarts?

• iTunes copy just metadata (song and album ratings, playlists) from iPod

  I have an iPod touch that I synched with my Windows computer (iTunes 9.0 I think) until my harddrive failed and I lost my entire library. I rebuilt the library (songs) from a year old backup (and various other source for songs) but my playlists and ratings are of course a year old. My iPod itself has most of the playlists and ratings I care most about (favorite songs and albums, rated 4 and 5, for example). I have a catch 22 situation where I feel nervous that I haven't backed up my iPod in around 4 months (when my drive failed) so I'd like to back it up as soon as possible... but if I back it up I have to clear all the songs and playlists and copy them back, which I can't really do since I need to rebuild my playlists on my computer first (using the data only available on my iPod!) The question: is there a better way to READ the information off my iPod than doing it manually, song by song and album by album and playlist by playlist (XML, text dump, database, spreadsheet, anything). In other words, mostly I want the information (metadata like ratings and playlists, not songs) copied off the iPod so I can more quickly get my iTunes library ratings and playlists re-built (manually) so I can finally wipe the music and back up my apps, etc. Then I'd like to copy the music back immediately. The part I'd like to avoid is manually navigating everything on my iPod to read through all the playlists and ratings (50 GB, 6,000+ songs) as I re-enter all of that data by hand. I've done a few dozen albums and it's pretty time consuming having to tap around on the iPod. Reading from a spreadsheet (for example, or XML which I could write a script to get into spreadsheet form) would probably help tremendously, plus then I'd have a backup of that information somewhere besides just my iPod.
