• CSS: resolution problem

  my site has three div elements, header, content and footer. i have a picture in header, and i want, that under big resolutions too it looks nice. so i take big image, with 1800px width. by so it looks nice in resolution of 1800, but now, in small resolutions(for example 1024), it shows only first 1024px of my picture, but i want it to show the center 1024px of picture. so is there any way, to set the backgound-image very big, but in small resolutions show center part of image? #header { background-image:url(../img/bg_header1.jpg); background-repeat:no-repeat; height:357px; width:100%; } thanks in advance

  Platform: Windows 7 Ultimate IDE: Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate Web Environment: ASP.NET MVC 2 Database: SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Data Access: Entity Framework 4 Form Validation: DataAnnotations Sample App: NerdDinner from Wrox Pro ASP.NET MVC 2 Book: Wrox Professional MVC 2 Problem with Chapter 1 - Section: "Integrating Validation and Business Rule Logic with Model Classes" (pages 33 to 35) ERROR Synopsis: NerdDinner form validation ERROR with DataAnnotations and db nulls. DataAnnotations in sample code does not work when the database fields are set to not allow nulls. ERROR occurs with the code from the book and with the sample code downloaded from codeplex. Help! I'm really frustrated by this!! I can't believe something so simple just doesn't work??? Steps to reproduce ERROR: Set Database fields to not allow NULLs (See Picture) Set NerdDinnerEntityModel Dinner class fields' Nullable property to false (See Picture) Add DataAnnotations for Dinner_Validation class (CODE A) Create Dinner repository class (CODE B) Add CREATE action to DinnerController (CODE C) This is blank form before posting (See Picture) This null ERROR occurs when posting a blank form which should be intercepted by the Dinner_Validation class DataAnnotations. Note ERROR message says that "This property cannot be set to a null value. WTH??? (See Picture) The next ERROR occurs during the edit process. Here is the Edit controller action (CODE D) This is the "Edit" form with intentionally wrong input to test Dinner Validation DataAnnotations (See Picture) The ERROR occurs again when posting the edit form with blank form fields. • What is a good way to animate UIViews inside UITableViewCell after a callback?

  We couldn't find a way to animate UIViews inside a UITableCell as an action from a callback. Suppose in a scenario where you click on a button on the UITableViewCell and it fires off an asynchronous action to download a picture. Suppose further that when the picture is downloaded we want a UIView in the cell to animate the picture to give user a visual feedback that something new is about to be presented. We couldn't find a way to track down the UIVIew to invoke beginAnimation on because the original cell that the user clicked on might now be used for another row due to the nature of cells being reused when you scroll up and down in the table. In other words we can't keep a pointer to that UITableViewCell. We need to find another way to target the cell and animate it if that row is visible and don't animate if the row is scrolled out of range.

  Hello, I have a system where registered users can vote up/vote down comment for a picture. Something very similar to SO's voting system. I store the votes in a table with values as such; vote_id | vote_comment_id | vote_user_id | vote_date | vote_type Now I have few a question concerned the speed and efficiency for the following; PROB: Once a user opens the picture page with comments I need, if that user has already voted UP/DOWN a comment to show it like; "you voted up" or "you voted down" next to the comment (in SO it the vote image is highlighted) MY POSSIBLE SOL: Right now when I open a picture page for each comment I loop thru, I loop thru my table of votes as well and check if a user has voted and show the status (I compare the vote_user_id with the user's session). How efficient is this? Anyone have a better approach to tackle this kind of problem?

At the moment the page loads a blank picture area and when an accordion menu item is closed it just restarts that menu items picture slider. (So on page load and when all accordions are closed I need it default to an image on the right.) Some of the items only have 1 picture i.e. posture 3 you will notice when you click on it, it shows the image and then goes blank, can it just fade the image in and leave it there if there is only 1 image? • Upload/Download images to FTP without bothering the user

  Hi, I know a lot of posts have been made in regards to FTP, but none have led me to what I need. I'm trying to upload a picture to a server (currently attempting FTP) but do it without notifying requiring the user to be involved. I want to be able to seamlessly upload/download the image when a certain user action occurs, but I don't want to use a third-party app like AndFTP. The idea is that a user will upload a picture, and then another user will be able to grab that picture based on which user put it up. No user will know where it's going or where it came from, nor will they navigate the FTP. Alternatively, does anyone have thoughts on a better way to do that? I thought of using the imgur api, but it can't be used commercially. It would, however, be perfect for my purposes. Is there a similar open-source alternative? Any help is greatly appreciated. Dan

• How to "smart resize" a displayed image to original aspect ratio

  I have an application in which end-users can size and position images in a designer. Since the spec calls for the image to be "stretched" to the containing control, the end user can end up with an awkwardly stretched image. To help the user with image sizing I am thinking of implementing a smart resizer function which would allow the the user to easily fix the aspect ratio of the picture so that it no longer appears stretched. The quick way to solve this is to actually provide two options: 1) scale from width 2) scale from height. The user chooses the method and the algorithm adjusts the size of the picture by using the original aspect ratio. For example: A picture is displayed as 200x200 on the designer but the original image is 1024x768 pixels. The user chooses "Smart Size from width" and the new size becomes ~200x150 since the original aspect ratio is ~1.333 That's OK, but how could I make the algorithm smarter and not bother the user by asking which dimension the recalculation should be based on?

  Hi all, I am developing the camera module for an android application. In main application when user clicks on 'take picture' button, new view with SurfaceView control is opened and camera preview is shown. When users click on dpad center, camera takes picture and save it to the disc. Pretty simple and straightforward. Everything works fine on my device - HTC Tattoo, minsdkversion 1.6 ...but when I tested application on HTC Hero minsdkversion 1.5, when camera preview is shown,some strange lines occur. • Hibernate error: cannot resolve table

  I'm trying to make work the example from hibernate reference. I've got simple table Pupil with id, name and age fields. I've created correct (as I think) java-class for it according to all java-beans rules. I've created configuration file - hibernate.cfg.xml, just like in the example from reference. I've created hibernate mapping for one class Pupil, and here is the error occured. <hibernate-mapping> <class name="Pupil" table="pupils"> ... </class> </hibernate-mapping> table="pupils" is red in my IDE and I see message "cannot resolve table pupils". I've also founded very strange note in reference which says that most users fail with the same problem trying to run the example. Ah.. I'm very angry with this example.. IMHO if authors know that there is such problem they should add some information about it. But, how should I fix it? I don't want to deal with Ant here and with other instruments used in example. I'm using MySql 5.0, but I think it doesn't matter.   Hello everyone. I'll cut right to the chase. Right now I am developing a web based application. It has a PHP REST based architecture that serves up XML documents. On many of these documents attributes are hex encoded picture strings. On the client side jQuery AJAX fetches an XML document with a picture in it. I need to display said picture in some <img> tags. However my knowledge on such methods is lacking so here I am asking for help. Goal: JavaScript String variable in hex or base64 HTML displayed image. • Small gaps in section headers with custom headers - iPhone / Objective-C

  Hi there! Since I wanted to use the standard section header with a different font size, I just made custom section headers by using an UIImageView with the standard section header as an image. It looks fine at first, but when I scroll the table, there are small gaps below and above the section headers: Since I am not allowed to post images or more than one hyperlink yet, I will have to provide you with one link to those images: Click me! Another thing to mention is, that the standard behaviour of non-custom section headers is, that they don't become transparent when I drag the table down (making the table offset < 0.0).   Is it possible to rewrite somehow www.mysite.com/Pictures to point to test.mysite.com/Pictures or even more broadly www.someothersite.com/Pictures ? Note: www.mysite.com and test.mysite.com are on separate machines and built with different technologies (one is ASP.NET and the other is PHP) but I have access to both of them. I want that when I reference a picture like www.mysite.com/Pictures/pic12345.png the picture to display correctly, even though there is not /Pictures folder on that server and the pictures has to be retrieved by going to test.mysite.com/Picture/pic12345.png Ideally I want to do this in IIS6 to test it. However I am interested if it possible to do in any webserver (Apache, IIS7)

• Https in java ends up with strange results

  I'm trying to illustrate to students how https is used in java. But i have the feeling my example is not really the best out there... The code works well on my windows 7: I start the server, go to https://localhost:8080/somefile.txt and i get asked to trust the certificate, and all goes well. When I try over http (before or after accepting the certificate) I just get a blank page, which is ok for me. BUT when I try the exact same thing on my windows XP: Same thing, all goes well. But then (after accepting the certificate first), I'm also able to get all the the files through http! (if I first try http before https followed by accepting the certificate, I get no answer..) I tried refreshing, hard refreshing a million times but this should not be working, right? Is there something wrong in my code? • Netbeans Java SE GUI Builder: private initComponents() problem

  When I build a GUI for my Java SE app with Netbeans GUI builder, it puts all the codes in the initComponents() method which is private. I could not change it to public. So, all the components are accessible only to the class containing the UI. I want to access those components from another class so that I can write custom event handlers and everything. Most importantly I want to separate my GUI code and non-GUI from each other. I can copy paste the GUI code and later make them public by hand to achieve what I want. But thats a pain. I have to handcraft a portion whenever I need to re-design the UI. What I tried to do: I used the variable identifier to make the text box public. Now how can I access the text box from the Main class? I think I need the component generated in a public method as well. I am new to Java. Any helps? • why message box is always hidden behind main dialog and cannot be shown on the top

  I am using MFC to write a GUI application. I chose dialog-based application, and put picture control, edit box and buttons on it. When the picture control is mapped to the class derived from CWnd using DDX_Control, all the message boxes (including default system message box pop up when you enter invalid input in the edit box) are hidden behind main dialog until you use "alt + tab" to bring them to front. If I map the picture control to the default CStatic class, the above problem disappeared. Do anyone has some hints to solve this problem? Thank you in advance for any help.
