  • Office 365 - Outlook shows Global Address List clicking "Rooms" during a meeting request

    This appears to be a "known" issue, but apparently no fix for it. However, I've been impressed before at the tenacity of the experts here to figure out an answer/fix. ISSUE When booking a New Meeting in Outlook (2013 or 2010) and choosing the Rooms button: The default list that opens is the Offline Global Address List: Which means a user has to change from the Offline Global Address List to the All Rooms list as shown here in order to easily pick from the list of actual rooms/resources: This isn't the default however for On-Premise Exchange servers. They default "correctly" to the All Rooms list when you click the Rooms button in the meeting request. While the option of using the Room Finder is there and does work, users have to know to click the Room Finder choice and it doesn't fix the actual root issue here.   • vyatta Server Reboots by itself

    I have an issue regarding some hardware, maybe you can help me. First, I set up a Supermicro Superserver SYS-5016I-NTF with a Intel Xeon X3470 and 4 GB of Ram with a Hotlava Card Tambora 64G4 with Intel Chipset 82599EB and 4x10G SPF+ ports. Installed Vyatta community edition 6.3. I used it as router making BGP connections with 2 operators. No load at all, temp ranges normal. But the issue is that it reboots by itself in a ramdom way. Not very often, once every few days. But it is unacceptable for production purposes. So I try to test on different hardware, and installed Vyatta community edition 6.3 on a Dell PowerEdge 2950, with Xeon(R) E5345 @ 2.33GHz and 4 GB of Ram. Same Vyatta configuration as Supermicro Server. With same hotlava Card model ( I bought two of them ) Well I have reboots with this equipment as well. Same frecuency as above. I have checked syslog no strange logs until boot process starts to be logged. So it seems server reboot suddenly. I have installed latest driver for the chipset of the Hotlava card. Servers are placed in a datacenter with UPS So finally two things in common in both servers: Hotlava Card. Someone with issues with this card, or the chipset?? Could be it this card?? Vyatta 6.3 community edition. I don't thing is the problem. Is a regular Debian with packages to glue together different services. Or maybe is something I am missing. Andy ideas, suggestions??   • Tungsten for MySQL: Online Schema Upgrade

    In a recent presentation the Continuent folks claim that they support "daylight maintenance" or online schema upgrades. See Clustering for the Masses: A Gentle Introduction to Tungsten for MySQL, especially pages 22-28. Is anyone using Tungsten for MySQL in this way? It sounds too good to be true. I also wonder if the Community Edition supports all of the features discussed in the presentation. They say elsewhere that it is not crippleware but in their own productization table "Zero downtime upgrade" appears to only be available in the more advanced versions. So I'm skeptical. Community support seems rather non-existent so a commercial license with support is probably warranted (they do not disclose pricing). I have not contacted them directly yet as I prefer community vetting but this solution, despite its value proposition and power to make an admin's life easier just doesn't seem to get the kind of attention it might warrant. If not Tungsten for MySQL, how do you handle online schema upgrades? MySQL Cluster (NDBENGINE) is not well-suited to web applications. Cheers

  • Embedded scripting engine in .Net app

    I am looking to replace an old control being used for scripting an application. The control used to be called SAX Basic, but is now called WinWrap. It provides us with two primary functions. 1) It's a scripting engine (VB) 2) It has a GUI for developing and debugging scripts that get run in the hosting application. The first feature it provides is actually pretty easy to replace. There are so many great methods of running just about any kind of code at runtime that it's almost a non-issue. Just about any language targeting the .Net runtime will work for us. We've looked at running C#, PowerShell, VB.Net, IronPython, etc. I've also taken a brief look at Lua and F#, but honestly the language isn't the biggest barrier here. Now, for the hard part that seems to keep getting me stuck. We want a code editor, and debugger. Something simple, not unlike PowerShell's ISE would be fine. Just as long as a file could be created, saved, debugged and executed. I'm currently looking into Visual Studio 2010 Shell (Isolated) and I'm also looking at the feasibility of embedding PowerShell ISE in my application. Are there any other editor's I could embed/use in my application? Purchasing a product is not out of the question. It comes down to a combination of ease of use, how well it meets our needs, and how simple deployment and licensing is for developers. Thanks for the pointers

Only good option I've seen so far is joomla CMS. Just want to get an opinion of the community on which tools they have used for these purposes.   • NSClient++: external script with optional arguments

    I am trying to define an external script which would take optional arguments in NSClient++ 0.4.1 on Windows. Following the nsclient-full.ini example code I have defined mycheck=cmd /C echo C:\mydir\myscript.ps1 %ARGS% | powershell.exe -command - which simply yields the string %ARGS% passed as the only argument to myscript.ps1, no matter what I specify in my call through NRPE (using Nagios' check_nrpe if that matters). I then tried to rewrite the definition to mycheck=cmd /C echo C:\mydir\myscript.ps1 $ARG1$ $ARG2$ | powershell.exe -command - (myscript.ps1 would take up to two arguments), which does help a bit. At least, if two arguments are provided, I can fetch them via the args[] array. The trouble starts when the call has less than two arguments - in this case the literal strings $ARG2 and $ARG1$ are passed through as arguments. Handling this case in the code of myscript.ps1 makes the whole argument processing routine ugly at best. Is there a sane way of defining optional parameters to an external script which would not pass NSClient's variable names if no parameter has been specified?

  • cd doesn't change directory in Windows 7

    I am working with cmd.exe on Windows 7 (as opposed to Powershell). I have 2 partitions on my drive, C contains the OS and installed programs, and D contains my data. I was trying to cd from C to D, but cmd wouldn't let me: C:\>cd D:\ C:\> However, when I type dir D:\, it will list the contents of D correctly. Why does it do this and how can I fix it? Powershell works fine so I can use that, but I would like to know what makes cmd misbehave.

  • Active Directory: how do you pull a list of accounts that belong to a user?

    I'm a software developer currently stuck to support CyberArk at a large company. I need to pull up a list of accounts that is belong to a certain user. For example, let's said I have a user account named Bob and I want to find all the accounts that belong to Bob in AD meaning on the Organization tab of a user properties, the Manager should be Bob. I've absolutely zero knowledge regarding AD except the very basic. Is there a way to do it? I only have access to "Active Directory Users and Computers" tool and I'm not even sure if I have enough privilege to run script or install powershell to do it but would like to know the script or powershell command to do so if there is one.

  • Windows 8 start screen will only find apps matching full words

    Since doing a fresh install of Windows 8 x64 RTM I'm having trouble starting apps from the start screen. In previous version I could just start typing the apps name and I would be presented with a list of matches that decreased in number as I continued typing. In the RTM version I have to type complete words to find a match. i.e. if I want to run powershell I have to type in powershell before I get any hits. Like wise if I want to start Visual Studio I have to type visual before I get a match. If I continue and start typing Studio the match goes away and doesn't return until I finish typing studio. This problem does not affect Setting or Files which show all possible matches. Any ideas what is wrong?

  • How to deploy Windows-8 Enterprise Apps to other users?

    Windows-8 (Metro) Apps can be installed using "sideloading", bypassing the Windows store in enterprise environments. In principle this is easy: Once you enabled sideloading (which is automatically done when a Win8-machine joins a domain), you can install a signed appx-Package through PowerShell with the "Add-AppxPackage" command. But there is a catch: The App is only installed for the user who executes the command and there is no "-Credentials" parameter! I can probably solve that problem in my specific scenario, where I deploy a self-developed app through TFS build to a virtual machine with a fixed demo user (by using remote powershell in combination with "Add-Job", which does take a credential parameter and because I know the given username and the password). But that is not true in an enterprise environment, where I want to distribute my App to thousands of users. Cracking all their passwords seems a bit over the top, so what would be the "correct" way to do this? I can't find any useful information from Microsoft about this, but maybe one of you already ran into this problem and solved it?

    While i was trying to setup some reports on a SPF 2010 site. After trying to add a Sql Reporting Webpart i get the error: Session state has been disabled for ASP.NET. The Report Viewer control requires that session state be enabled in local mode I never came across that error before when using RSWebaprts in Sharepoint 2007:) But i think is related to ASP.NET sessions state:( Any to fix it you would have to start to make sure the SharePoint Server ASP.NET Session State Service is enabled. Unfortunately in Sharepiint SPF2010 and SP 2010 you would have to do it using PowerShell By doing :  Enable-SPSessionStateService -Defaultprovision PS C:\> PSSnapin - Shows you all the PS Snapins PS C:\> Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" -- Adds the Sharepoint PS Snapin PS C:\> get-command -Noun SP* -- Show all SP cmdlets PS C:\> Add-SPShellAdmin -- (If you get error regarding the access to the farm you use this command to add an acct to able to run the Shell admin) PS C:\> Get-Help Enable-SPSessionStateService - Shows helpp for  Enable-SPSessionStateService PS C:\> Enable-SPSessionStateService -Defaultprovision - (enables/activates SPSessionStateService) you have more oprions available when you run the Get-Help Enable-SPSessionStateService   After running the cmd you should see the SharePoint Server ASP.NET Session State Service started in your service applications in the Central Admin Site.
