    When I write the following code I get garbage for an output. It is just a simple program to find prime numbers.   • Windows batch file timing bug

    I've used %time% for timing previously - at least I think I have. I have this weird IF NOT "%1" == "" ( echo Testing: %1 echo Start: %time% sqlcmd -S MYSERVER -i test_import_%1.sql -o "test_%1%.log" sleep 3 echo End: %time% ) I run this, and it prints: Testing: pm Start: 13:29:45.30 End: 13:29:45.30 In this case, my sql code is failing (different reason), but I figure the sleep 3 should make the time increment by 3 at least. Any ideas? tx, tff

  • Pushing a local mercurial repository to a remote server or cloning at server from local

    I have a local repository that I have now decided to push to a remote server (for example, I have a host that allows mercurial repositories and I am also trying to push to bitbucket). The repository has a lot of files and is a little more than 200mb. Locally, I am able to clone the repository without problems. Now I have a lot of changes in this repository, and I have wasted a couple of days trying to figure out how to get the remote server to clone my repository. I cannot get hg serve to work outside of the LAN. I have tried everything. So instead, I created a new repository at the remote servers (both at the host and bitbucket) with nothing in it. Now I am pushing the complete repository that I have locally to these remote locations. So far it has been unsuccessful, as the push operation is stuck on searching for changes and does not give me any other useful output. I have let it go for about an hour with no change. Now my questions is, what am I doing wrong as far as hg serve is concerned? I can access it locally but not remotely (through DynDns - I have configured it properly and the router forwards the ports correctly) so that I can get the server to clone the repository the first time after which I will be pushing to it. My second question is, assuming the clone at server does not work (for example, if I was to push my current repository to bitbucket), is creating an empty repository at the server and then pushing a local repository to the new remote repository ok? Is that the source of the searching for changes problem? Any help in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

  • Secure Copy File from remote server via scp and os module in Python

    I'm pretty new to Python and programming. I'm trying to copy a file between two computers via a python script. However the code os.system("ssh " + hostname + " scp " + filepath + " " + user + "@" + localhost + ":" cwd) won't work. I think it needs a password, as descriped in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?. I didn't get any error logs, the file just won't show in my current working directory. However every other command with os.system("ssh " + hostname + "command") or os.popen("ssh " + hostname + "command") does work. - command = e.g. ls When I try ssh hostname scp file user@local:directory in the commandline it works without entering a password. I tried to combine os.popen commands with getpass and pxssh module to establish a ssh connection to the remote server and use it to send commands directly (I only tested it for an easy command): import pxssh import getpass ssh = pxssh.pxssh() ssh.force_password = True hostname = raw_input("Hostname: ") user = raw_input("Username: ") password = getpass.getpass("Password: ") ssh.login(hostname, user, password) test = os.popen("hostname") print test But I'm not able to put commands through to the remote server (print test shows, that hostname = local and not the remote server), however I'm sure, the conection is established. I thought it would be easier to establish a connection than always use "ssh " + hostname in the bash commands. I also tried some of the workarounds in How do I copy a file to a remote server in python using scp or ssh?, but I must admit due to lack of expirience I didn't get them to work.     I'm using the FTP library provided by Apache (commons-net). I want to check if a file exists on the FTP server so I use the listFiles method of FTPClient: ftpClient.listFiles(remoteFileDir + "\\" + fileName); The current directory is the FTP server root directory. So, the value of remoteFileDir is a path relative to this root directory. My question concerns the merge between the remote directory path and the file name. What is the right way to do it? For a local file, I would do: File file = new File(remoteFileDir,fileName); but here it doesn't work since when I call file.getAbsolutePath(), I get an absolute path for the file in the local current directory which is not what I want. Also, I guess the merging has been done according to my local environment. PS: I looked at How are paths determined on a remote machines? but it doesn't help me. Thanks

I'd like to reduce calls to the remote server by reading a cache file on my web server, then after some time, retrieving a new copy of the remote file. Is this an accepted practice for reading remote XML files, then parsing? Can anyone offer some suggestions on how to go about this in PHP, or perhaps there are some PEAR classes that deal with this?

    Is there a reliable way to determine whether or not two files are the same? For example, two files with the same size and type may or may not be the same binarilly (yeah, I know it's not really a word). I assume that comparing one or two checksums of the files will help, but I wonder: How reliable are checksums at determining whether two files are different; what are the chances of two different files having the same checksum? Would reliability increase by applying additional checksum comparisons? Which checksum algorithm(s) would be the most efficient and/or reliable? Any ideas, suggestions or thoughts are appreciated! P.S. The code for this is being written in Java running on a nix system, but generic or platform agnostic input is most helpful.

What we did: We have created an activex which installs through the web browser into client machine which lets the user to connect to different servers through web browser. What is in Activex In Activex we used an MSTSC.lib file and by passing the relevant parameters to it. It connects to the remote Desktop. What are the Problems facing now? We are able to connect to remote desktop but randomly keyboard does not work in remote machine. Where as mouse works perfectly.

Before I start processing I'd like to get a count of the number of lines in the file, so I can then indicate how far along the processing is. I am using Ruby, and because of the size of the files, it would not be practical to read the entire file into memory just to count how many lines there are. Does anyone have a good suggestion on how to do this?

    Hi all I am currently moving my SVN server from my home server to my remote server so I can access it more easily from other locations. My remote server is not backed up so I want to regularly back it up to my home server. Remote server is Windows 2003 server. Home server is Windows Home Server. What is the best way to do this? can I get my home server to get a dump of the remote server every night? Bandwidth isn't a huge consideration but if I could just copy any new checkins to an SVN server on my home server that would be fine. Any suggestions welcome. Thanks

    Hi I am currently needing to load the contents of a folders filenames to an arraylist I have but I am unsure as how to do this. To put it into perspective I have a folder with One.txt, Two.txt, Three.txt etc. I want to be able to load this list into an arraylist so that if I was to check the arraylist its contents would be : arraylist[0] = One arraylist[1] = Two arraylist[3] = Three If anyone could give me any insight into this it would be much appreciated.

  • In Windows 8.1, how can I configure File History to backup *some* of my SkyDrive folders?

    I want File History to back up all of the folders in my SkyDrive except for the media folders (Music, Pictures, Videos, Podcasts). My media folders are "available online only", the rest of "available offline". Right now File History does not back up any of the content in my SkyDrive, and I can't seem to find a way to configure which folders it backs up. I found some sources that say if my SkyDrive is available offline, it will be added to File History. But I don't want to make my entire SkyDrive available offline, just the non-media folders.

    I'm displaying a PNG with a transparent background that looks good in Windows 7, but then I run my app in XP Mode or remote desktop to a Windows XP machine and the PNG looks incorrect. I noticed that if I disable "Integration Mode" or run the app on XP without remote desktop, the image looks fine. How do I get DrawImage to render the PNG correctly in XP Mode or remote desktop?
