• In Drupal, can you control block display according to e.g. number of URL parts?

  I'm having a little trouble controlling page-specific block display in Drupal... My URL's will be of this typical structure: http://www.mysite.co.uk/section-name/sub-page/sub-sub-page The 'section-name' will effectively be fixed, but there will be many sub-pages (far too many to explicitly reference). I need to somehow control block display as follows: One block will show on all pages where URL contains 'section-name/sub-page' but not on pages 'section-name/sub-page/sub-sub-page' Conversely, another block will show on all pages where URL contains 'section-name/sub-page/sub-sub-page' but not on pages 'section-name/sub-page' My only idea is to do a bit of PHP that looks for the string 'section-name' and then also counts URL parts (or even the number of slashes). Not sure how to implement that though :) Your help would be appreciated!

• Admin now missing from Authors dropdown

  I've been running my Wordpress install for months with 2 users, the original administrator which I use and another admin account created for my co-admin. We've been posting fine, no issues, all was great. Two days ago I created another user, and now whenever I log in as the original admin (my account) I am no longer in the authors dropdown list. Any new users I create show up, but my original account is no longer listed. I can't figure out what's going on, nor how to restore myself.

• Reason for .Net UI Element Thread-restriction

  We know that it is not possible to execute code that manipulates the properties of any UI element from any thread other than the thread the element was instantiated on... My question is why? I remember that when we used COM user interface elements, (in COM/VB6 days), that all UI elements were created using COM classes and co-classes that stored their resources using a memory model referred to as Thread-Local-Storage (TLS) , but as I recall, this was required because of something relaetd to the way COM components were constructed, and should not be relevant to .Net UI elements. Wha's the underlying reason why this restriction still exists? Is it because the underlying Operating System still uses COM-based Win32 API classes for all UI elements, even the ones manipulated in a managed .Net application ??

• Float right is making background-color disappear in IE while hovering.

• Why are IE6 and IE7 not completely showing this div?

  I'm having problems in IE6 and 7 with a div that doesn't complete the bottom padding that is attributed to it, so doesn't appear to finish the div down to the white content area like required. • Google Adword not working /conversion.js not found

  I'm currently working on a wordpress site. My task is just to add the conversion script in a thankyou page. I added the script here: http://www.livingedge.co.nz/thanks-for-getting-in-touch/ , unfortunately does not work. It says that a conversion.js was not found. See the attached screenshot: http://screencast.com/t/52ixQUzHKNxZ I added the conversion script on the footer put it in a conditional so that it will load only on the thakyoupage. I'm new to this and can't figure out what would be the possible cause of such problem. I tried adding the script in the header, on the page editor, on a form redirect. Q: What could be the possible cause of this issue?

• change svn message editor

  So my co-worker felt it necessary to go onto my development box and do some code changes, then submit his work to subversion. I never set the commit message editor, and all of a sudden, one day I forgot to add the -m handle and apparently he set the default editor to emacs. Being that I don't know the first thing about emacs and prefer vim myself, how do I go about changing the default editor for svn commands to vim after it's already been set. I deleted the .subversion directory under the home directory, and it still prompts me.

• With google maps, can you use google's own popup windows?

  I've implemented a google map with points and stuff that uses an address that the user inputs. When you click a point, the popup bubble appears with the name and address in. Often this name and address is a prominent location, as it's used for meetings and things, such as a university. If you google the address yourself on maps.google.co.uk then you get google's own popup bubble, which often has a photo, information, opening hours, links to directions, reviews, etc. etc. I am wondering if there's a way to use that popup dialog instead of my own, where it is available. I can't see anything in the API to do this. I'm using V2 as we support IE6 in a lot of our users, but I've been told recently I can upgrade to V3 should I need functionality from it. Any ideas?

• Information stored in a cookie file

  Thanks for you help in advance. I am trying to figure out the structure of the cookie file, more specifically i want to be able to determine the expiry time. From the cookies i have created they all appear to be in a standard format. Name, Value, website,followed by 5 numbers and a star. See example below. name value www.website.co.uk/ 1536 3041141504 30135951 1632526096 30135949 * Obviously the expiry time is one of the numbers, the question is which one. From experiments I have determined that the first and fifth number don't seem to change. In a case where i generated three cookies at the same time with a 1000 second time difference i noticed that the fourth number appeared to increase by 2000 suggesting that this has a connection with the expiry time. Can anyone confirm if i am heading in the right direction? And does any one know how i convert this to a human time and date(preferably in php but any language would give me a starting point) thanks Jason

  I'm using amazon japan, using ItemLookup. We already have the EAN numbers (used as ItemId). It was working well until we need to modify the SalesRank. The previous SalesRank returned is for the whole SearchIndex, ex: Books, Music, etc. What we want is to get the SalesRank for a specific BrowseNode. I don't know but it seems that it is not implemented on Amazon US. For example: http: // www . amazon . com / Slackware-Essentials-Cantrell-Johnson-Lumens/dp/1571763384/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1276142663&sr=1-1 The book above only shows the SalesRank (Bestsellers Rank) but on Japan Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.jp/Slackware-Linux-Dummies/dp/0764506897/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=english-books&qid=1276142708&sr=1-4 It shows SalesRank for other three different BrowseNodes. We need to get the SalesRank for a specific BrowseNode for a given ItemId or by any other means. Any ideas guys? TIA

• Python lxml - returns null list

  I cannot figure out what is wrong with the XPATH when trying to extract a value from a webpage table.   I'm used to MySQL and PHPMyAdmin - I had to switch over to MSSQL for an ASP.net project, and I'm having tons of trouble. I'm using the express version of SQL 2008, with SQL Server Management Studio. The following are 2 questions I've been struggling with for a while: 1) How do I export the DB schema for the database? The table structure, etc.? 2) How do I export all the data in the database? Ideally I'd like to have a .sql file that can be run wherever I need the schema or data duplicated, for example a co-worker's computer for a shared project, or online when the project is being hosted.   What is the best way for converting phone numbers into international format (E.164) using Java? Given a 'phone number' and a country id (let's say an ISO country code), I would like to convert it into a standard E.164 international format phone number. I am sure I can do it by hand quite easily - but I would not be sure it would work correctly in all situations. Which Java framework/library/utility would you recommend to accomplish this? P.S. The 'phone number' could be anything identifiable by the general public - such as * (510) 786-0404 * 1-800-GOT-MILK * +44-(0)800-7310658 that last one is my favourite - it is how some people write their number in the UK and means that you should either use the +44 or you should use the 0. The E.164 format number should be all numeric, and use the full international country code (e.g.+44)

The ValidateRect function should not be called if a portion of the update region must be validated before the next WM_PAINT message is generated.1 I've been programming with Win32 API for years, and I've never thought to call the ValidateRect function. A co-worker of mine today pointed that we were missing a call to ValidateRect, which fixed a bug we were having doing some high-speed animation using GDI (I know, an oxymoron) Can someone tell me whether or not a call to ValidateRect is neccessary after a BeginPaint/EndPaint pair? • Page layout breaks only in Opera which is weird?

  Okay so I'm working on an admin panel, in which everything should always be only within the view port until you hit the minimum widths and heights set. The current version of it can be seen here (its still in development) : http://qwibbledesigns.co.uk/preview/Admin/ In layout terms, it works flawlessly in all browsers, even down to ie6 =D. However, opera doesn't like it, and for some reason, always add's extra space to the bottom of the page, making it have an extra scrollbar, and I can't fathom it out which is highly annoying. Jquery is used to set the height of the container, sidebar, and content area so that they're always within the browser view port, and these functions rerun when the window is resized. I therefore cannot work out the the life of me what's wrong with opera. Would anyone mind taking a look and seeing if they can work it out? =D

  Hi, I want to store a number of url patterns in my django model which a user can provide parameters to which will create a url. For example I might store these 3 urls in my db where %s is the variable parameter provided by the user: www.thisissomewebsite.com?param=%s www.anotherurl/%s/ www.lastexample.co.uk?param1=%s&fixedparam=2 As you can see from these examples the parameter can appear anywhere in the string and not in a fixed position. I have 2 models, one holds the urls and one holds the variables: class URLPatterns(models.Model): pattern = models.CharField(max_length=255) class URLVariables(models.Model): pattern = models.ForeignKey(URLPatterns) param = models.CharField(max_length=255) What would be the best way to generate these urls by replacing the %s with the variable in the database. would it just be a simple replace on the string e.g: urlvariable = URLVariable.objects.get(pk=1) pattern = url.pattern url = pattern.replace("%s", urlvariable.param) or is there a better way?   Basically I have a website called http://yellow-taxis.uk/ which features an online booking system that is placed on the web site within an iFrame. On the online booking, it automatically logs the user in as a 'Guest' for credit card payments. When the site loads it comes up with a window asking the viewer if they 'would like to remember the password'. I was wondering if there was anyway possible to not display this window as it would be a much simpler option than changing a lot of the code within the online booking. Just to add, the iFrame is hosted on the same server as the web site (not sure if this makes a difference) Any help would be much appreciated.

• Best way of obfuscating / encrypting form data on the iPhone

  I want to create an app which holds sensitive information (imagine it's bank account details, thought it's not). The user enters this information on a form the first time the app starts up. I want this info to be saved, and available, any time the user uses the app (without having to enter a password). However, if the iPhone has a password lock on it, and is stolen, I don't want the data to be easily accessible from the file system. What is the best way of encrypting or obfuscating the data? There is not a lot of data, just a dozen NSStrings from the UITextFields on the form. I'm aware there are encryption export restrictions on the iPhone for non-US developers (I am in UK), so I would prefer to avoid going jumping through any of Apple's app submission hoops to get it on the store.

"'"; } } I need to work in a bit at the top so that if the directory doesnt exist it defaults to the images sat in the root of the background directory... Any help would be appreciated.
