  • How do I confirm a pdf loaded correctly with Watir webdriver testing

    This is a general type question that I dont know what code I could post that would help get an answer. So I apologize in advance, but if some piece of code would help, please let me know and Ill add it. The question is, how do I confirm that a pdf loaded in a web browser when using Ruby/Cucumber/Watir Webdriver? My test clicks on a random link that should load a pdf in a new browser window, so I cant check the url because it will vary with each test. Any ideas how I can make sure the correct pdf loads after clicking the link that should load it?

  • Testing whether an event has happened after a period of time in jQuery

    I'm writing a script for a form-faces xforms product that is keyed off an event built into form faces. The event is called 'xforms-ready'. I have define 'startTime' as happening as soon as the document in 'ready'. What I want the script to do is warn the user that it is taking too long before the 'xforms-ready' happens, say if it's been 6 seconds since 'startTime'. I can easily do things when the 'xforms-ready' event happens using the code below: new EventListener(document.documentElement, "xforms-ready", "default", function() { var endTime = (new Date()).getTime(); } ); however the warning will want to happen before 'endTime' is defined. So I guess I want something that works like this: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and endTime is not yet defined do X or possibly more efficiently: If 6 seconds has passed since startTime and 'xforms-ready' has not yet happened do X Can anyone suggest a way of doing this?

My issue is that I cannot get the dropdown boxes from the DateItem. Does anyone know how to get the dropdown boxes from the DateItem? (Like: item.dropdown.month or item.dropdown.day, etc).

    I need to make my image fitting into my div, I want the picture to be only inside the div, the rest of the picture will be behind the other elements. Basically I want to achieve the same effect as here http://tommywebdesigner.com/Home%20Page.html but with the div id="background"and div id="content" i have created. As you can see first i gave margin-bottom="350px to the header in order to create a blank space, here i have the space for the img in my div id="background"which is located under (z-index: -1;) and the rest of the elements is placed over inside the the div id="content" (z-index:2;) I need now a Javascript which fit this image in the div id="background".   • "Zoom" text to be as big as possible within constraints/box

    First problem: You have 400 pixels width to go on, and need to fit some text within that constraint as large as possible (thus, the text shall use that amount of space). Throw in a new constraint: If the text is just "A", then it shall not zoom this above 100 pixels (or some specific font size). Then, a final situation: Linebreaks. Fit some text in the largest possible way within e.g. 400 x 150 pixels. An obvious way is to simply start with point 1, and then increase until you can't fit it anymore. This would work for all three problems, but would be very crude. The fitting of a single line within bounds could be done by writing it with some fixed point size, check the resulting pixel bounds of the text, and then simply scale it with a transform (the text scales properly too then, check out TransformUI). Any ideas of other ways to attack this would be greatly appreciated!

Originally I was just having it put the variable into a text box and then I was posting that text box. However I dont want to have 5 text boxes.   • Facebook Like button - comment box with breif description and image

    On my website when the user selects the facebook like button they have the option to enter comments. This popup window to enter comments only contains the users avatar and place to enter comments. How can i include my pic and a brief description of the site directly below the comment??? At first I thought it was from the HTML title attribute or meta property="og:title" ... but populating these have no affect I have another site that contains both pic and a desc below the comment but the pic seems to be grabed at random -but always the same- from the site and the short desc I thought from the -title- attribute but its not - I changed the -title- and it still shows the same desc, its like its cached??? Any ideas how to control or populate a brief description and image within the comment section of a like button???

  • Visual Studio 2012 testing with csla and entity framework

    In VS2010 my MSTest test run just fine. When running in VS2012 I am getting an error. The test sets the Csla.ApplicationContext.User with a Custom Business Principal. When EntityFramework is asked to provide a new ObjectContext I receive a SerializationException saying that my Custom Business Principal type cannot be found. So far all tests that use EntityFramework fail when running through VS2012's test runner or Resharper7's test runner. I have tried NCrunch's test runner and they all pass. Thank you in advance.

  • Drop Down Box (select) set URL on postback?

    I have a page with a ASP.NET DropDownBox control (HTML select) that's populated with some dynamic record values. When the user selects a record the entire contents of the page is updated to reflect the selection. If a user clicks a link and leaves the page and tries to go back, it pulls up the default unselected list, and they have to reselect it again. How would be the best way to retain their selection? I currently have the page set so if the url contains PageName.aspx?recordID=5 it will select the correct dropDown option. However I'm not sure how to change the URL's query string based on the selection.

I am trying to hide that Close becuase its not showing me in my dialog when I resize my dialog then its showing me.. some reason my CSS not showing me that Close button correctly on my POPUP.   • Most efficient way for testing links

    I'm currently developping an app that is going through all the files on a server and checking every single hrefs to check wether they are valid or not. Using a WebClient or a HttpWebRequest/HttpWebResponse is kinda overkilling the process because it downloads the whole page each time, which is useless, I only need to check if the link do not return 404. What would be the most efficient way? Socket seems to be a good way of doing it, however I'm not quite sure how this works. Thanks for sharing your expertise!

    I'm fairly new to VB.net (self taught) and was just wondering if someone out there could help me out with some code. I'm not trying to do anything to invovled, just have a textbox that takes numeric value from 1 to 10. I don't want it to take a string or any number above 10. If some types a word or character an error message will appear, telling them to enter a valid number. This is what I have, obviously it's not great as I am having problems.   • Best way to test instance methods without running __init__

    I've got a simple class that gets most of its arguments via init, which also runs a variety of private methods that do most of the work. Output is available either through access to object variables or public methods. Here's the problem - I'd like my unittest framework to directly call the private methods called by init with different data - without going through init. What's the best way to do this? So far, I've been refactoring these classes so that init does less and data is passed in separately. This makes testing easy, but I think the usability of the class suffers a little.
