• Apache local configuration to resolve files correctly

  Hello, I am new at this so bare with me. I have just configured Apache and PHP to work on my local Mac OS X computer. Now PHP works fine, except when I try to load the files for my live sites. The live sites have separate directories and are sorted by client name etc. I've created symlinks in the default root for the local web server documents. My issue is that Apache doesn't seem to want to load any of the relative paths that are found in the HTML pages. For example, I have src="/css/main.css" but Apache doesn't load the file, similarly for images, it just resolves as a file not found 404 error. I then thought it might be the symlinks so I copied the full directory into the Apache document root, and still had the same result. I would really love to setup my local development environment to run Apache, PHP, MySQL to develop locally then publish when ready. I also tried the MAMP installation, and had the same issues. Any help at all in this would be greatly appreciated. If my explanation wasn't clear please let me know. Thanks! Alex.

• SOLR phrase query

  I have a slight problem when searching with SOLR 4.0 and attempting a phrase query. I have a field called "idx_text_general_ci" which is a case insensitive (all lowercased) field made up of all fields. When I try and search for a phrase (marine fitter) my SOLR refuses to search for the phrase instead splitting the phrase into 2 words - /select?defType=edismax&q=idx_text_general_ci:marine%20fitter&debugQuery=true debugQuery=true output below: <lst name="debug"> <str name="rawquerystring">idx_text_general_ci:marine fitter</str> <str name="querystring">idx_text_general_ci:marine fitter</str> <str name="parsedquery"> (+(idx_text_general_ci:marine DisjunctionMaxQuery((id:fitter))))/no_coord </str> <str name="parsedquery_toString">+(idx_text_general_ci:marine (id:fitter))</str> As you can see above it splits the query into 2 parts (idx_text_general_ci:marine then id:fitter). THe problem I have is that I have an exact match for "marine fitter" that appears twice in the idx_text_general_ci field yet it's ranked with a lesser score than a document with the word "marine" appearing 3 times. I know this will not be the case if my SOLR was to search the field with the phrase as expected. If I wrap the phrase in quotes I get zero results. Any help or a nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance Alex

• Backwards compatibility when using Core Data

• Using Excel as front end to Access database (with VBA)

  I am building a small application for a friend and they'd like to be able to use Excel as the front end. (the UI will basically be userforms in Excel). They have a bunch of data in Excel that they would like to be able to query but I do not want to use excel as a database as I don't think it is fit for that purpose and am considering using Access. [BTW, I know Access has its shortcomings but there is zero budget available and Access already on friend's PC] To summarise, I am considering dumping a bunch of data into Access and then using Excel as a front end to query the database and display results in a userform style environment. Questions: How easy is it to link to Access from Excel using ADO / DAO? Is it quite limited in terms of functionality or can I get creative? Do I pay a performance penalty (vs.using forms in Access as the UI)? Assuming that the database will always be updated using ADO / DAO commands from within Excel VBA, does that mean I can have multiple Excel users using that one single Access database and not run into any concurrency issues etc.? Any other things I should be aware of? I have strong Excel VBA skills and think I can overcome Access VBA quite quickly but never really done Excel / Access link before. I could shoehorn the data into Excel and use as a quasi-database but that just seems more pain than it is worth (and not a robust long term solution) Any advice appreciated. Alex

  I'm just starting to learn JSP (and I'm pretty new to Java in general), and I'd like to use JSON-lib with it. • Has form post behavior changed in modern browsers? (or How are double clicks handled by the browser)

  Background: We are in the process of writing a registration/payment page, and our philosophy was to code all validation and error checking on the server side first, and then add client side validation as a second step (un-obstructive jQuery). We wanted to disable double clicks server side, so we wrote some locking, thread-safe code to handle simultaneous posts/race conditions. When we tried to test this, we realized that we could not cause a simultaneous post or race condition to occur. I thought that (in older browsers anyway) double clicking a submit button worked as follows: User double clicks submit button. Browser sends a post on the first click On the second click, browser cancels/ignores initial post, and initiates a second post (before the first post has returned with a response). Browser waits for second post to return, ignoring initial post response. I thought that from the server side it looked like this: Server gets two simultaneous post requests, executes and responds to them both (unaware that no one is listening to the first response). From our testing (FireFox 3.0, IE 8.0) this is what actually happens: User double clicks submit button Browser sends a post for the first click Browser queues up second click, but waits for the response from the first click. Response returns from first click (response is ignored?). Browser sends a post for the second click. So from a server side: Server receives a single post which it executes and responds to. Then, server receives a second request wich it executes and responds to. My question is, has this always worked this way (and I'm losing my mind)? Or is this a new feature in modern browsers that prevents simultaneous posts to be sent to the server? It seems that for server side double click prevention, we don't have to worry about simultaneous posts or race conditions. Only need to worry about queued up posts. • UITableViewCell imageView images loading small even when they are the correct size!

  Im having an issue whilst loading images into a UITableViewCell after an asynchronous download and placement into an UIImage variable.. The images appear smaller than they actually are! But when scrolled down and scrolled back up to the image, or the whole table is reloaded, they appear at the correct size...   I paid somebody to build me a jQuery AJAX suggestion box script a while back. It works great. Now I'm trying to learn about it enough to modify it to do something different. Right now, the script that generates the suggestions just takes the query text and does the same check every time. Now, I want to be able to pass along additional info so different things are looked for with each instance of a search box. The HTML... simple, obvious. input class="suggest" name="q" type="text" autocomplete="off" / The jQuery looks like this: jQuery(document).ready(function() { $('.suggest').autocomplete( { source:'output.php', minLength:3, focus: function (event, ui) { $(event.target).val(ui.item.label); return false; } } ); [snip] } Instead of: source:'output.php', minLength:3, I'd like: source:'output.php?arg1=blah1&arg2=blah2', minLength:3, where arg1 and arg2 are passed along in the form... input class="suggest" name="q" type="text" autocomplete="off" / input type="hidden" name="arg1" value="blah1" input type="hidden" name="arg2" value="blah2" Does this make sense? • Rails 3 : Can't get form_for to work as a 'delete' following the RESTful achitecture => always giving a ROUTING ERROR

In my relationships controller, I have created all the propers methods: def create ... end def destroy ... end def update ... end def show ... end And in my routes config I have made sure to allow all routes for the relationships controller resources :relationships But I can't seem to get into the destroy method of the controller :( However if I remove the :html => {:method => 'delete'} method parameter in the form_for then I get to the create method of the controller no pb. • Getting batch_action functionality in Symfony 1.0

  I'm currently working on a web app written in Symfony. I'm supposed to add an "export to CSV" feature in the backend/administration part of the app for some modules. In the list view, there should be an "Export" button which should provide the user with a csv file of the elements that are displayed (considering filtering criteria). I've created a method in the actions class of the module that takes a comma separated list of ids and generates the CSV, but I'm not really sure how to add the link to it in the view. The problem is that the view doesn't exist anywhere, it's generated on the fly from the data in the generator.yml configuration file. I've posted the relevant part of the file below. I'm new to Symfony, so any help would be appreciated :). Currently, I'm working around this with Javascript (I parse the DOM to get the numeric ids (from the display table) and then build the link for the button. I really think there could be a better way for this.

• Java SOAP - Need help on Body and ChildElement manipulation

  Hi guys I'm trying to write some code in java to learn more about coding with WSDL and SOAP. I've been able to build up a BodyElement for a given namespace. But when i come to adding the childElements I'm runnig intp problems. For example given :'<'to:checkAccount xmlns:to="http://foo" '<'to:id test' <'/to:id '<'to:password test '<'/to:password '<'to:checkAccount " I'm able to set the bodyElement(to:checkAccount), but when i try to add the childElements (to:id, to:password) , the childElement needs to have the "to" prefix otherwise it won't work. ie. sf = SOAPFactory.newInstance(); Name childName = sf.createName("id"); SOAPElement symbol = bodyElement.addChildElement(childName); this doesn't work since it doesn't have the "to" prefix to id and password. I cannot do Name childName = sf.createName("id","to",null); as it gives me an error saying wrong namespace... can someone tell me how i can add to:id and to:password to to:checkAccount ?

  I'm attempting to avoid introducing any dependencies between my Data layer and client code that makes use of this layer, but am running into some problems when attempting to do this with Mongo (using the MongoRepository) MongoRepository shows examples where you create Types that reflect your data structure, and inherit Entity where required. Eg. [CollectionName("track")] public class Track : Entity { public string name { get; set; } public string hash { get; set; } public Artist artist { get; set; } public List<Publish> published {get; set;} public List<Occurence> occurence {get; set;} } In order to make use of these in my client code, I'd like to replace the Mongo-specific types with Interfaces, e.g: [CollectionName("track")] public class Track : Entity, ITrackEntity { public string name { get; set; } public string hash { get; set; } public IArtistEntity artist { get; set; } public List<IPublishEntity> published {get; set;} public List<IOccurenceEntity> occurence {get; set;} } However, the Mongo driver doesn't know how to treat these interfaces, and I understandably get the following error: An error occurred while deserializing the artist property of class sf.data.mongodb.entities.Track: No serializer found for type sf.data.IArtistEntity. --- MongoDB.Bson.BsonSerializationException: No serializer found for type sf.data.IArtistEntity. Does anyone have any suggestions about how I should approach this?

How do I approach this problem? EDIT: The Error is: undefined method `base_class' for String:Class with params being: "speaker"=>{"speakable"=>"1063885469", "session_id"=>"1007692731"} The value passed to speakable is the id of the Speaker/Company. Yes, this is the value I specified the collection_select to return, but how can I manage to supply both values (speakable_id and speakable_type) ?

• Error during update 'Unable to connect to 192.168.43.1:8000'

  When I tried to update my Ubuntu through the update manager I received an error about some unknown resource. so i tried doing it from the terminal with sudo apt-get update but all I got is: 0% [Connecting to 192.168.43.1 repeating itself... and when I press Enter it shows: W: Failed to fetch http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/dists/precise-security/universe/i18n/Translation-en Unable to connect to 192.168.43.1:8000: E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. How can I get this to work?

  I am new in Linux. I was trying to install wine and after /i followed instructions from a youtube video i got to the point where I needed to install wine from Ubuntu Software Center.   I have written a small Java Swing desktop application. It seems like a natural step to port it to Android since I am interested in learning how to program for that platform. I believe that I can reuse some of my existing code base. (Of course, exactly how much reuse I can get out of it will only be determined as I start coding the Android app.) Currently I am hosting my Java Swing app on Sourceforge.net and use Git for version control. As I start creating the Android app, I am considering two options: Add the Android code to my existing repository, creating separate directories and Java packages for the Android-specific code and resources. Create a new Sourceforge project (or even host a new one) and creating a new Git repository. a. With a new repository, I can simply add the files from my original project that I will reuse. (I don't particularly like this option as it will be difficult to modify both copies of the same file in both repositories.) b. Or I can branch the original repository. This adds the difficulty of merging changes of shared source files. Mostly I am trying to decide between choices 1. and 2b. If I'm going to branch the existing repository, what advantages are there to hosting it as a separate SF project (or even using another OSS hosting service) as opposed to keeping all my source code in the current SF project?

• Roadshow Microsoft – Primeira Parada: Londrina, PR

  Hoje (23/03) tivemos aqui em Londrina a primeira parada do Roadshow Microsoft, com apresentação de diversos produtos com aplicação em cenários técnicos. Como já é de costume, o evento reuniu alguns dos melhores profissionais de DEV e INFRA, com informações extremamente úteis sobre .NET Framework 4, Entity Framework, Exchange, Sharepoint, entre outras tecnologias e produtos. Na minha visão, o evento conseguiu atender a expectativa dos participantes, através dos cenários técnicos criados para a ficticia Adventure Works (acho que eu conheço esta empresa… :). Através da participação ativa de todos, as tracks de DEV e INFRA tiveram o sucesso aparente no comentário do pessoal nos intervalos e almoço. Depois das palestras, lá por 19h, tivemos um jantar com o pessoal da Microsoft e influenciadores da região, onde, até as 21h, discutimos muita coisa (até Commerce Server!). Esta aproximação com o time de comunidades da Microsoft, além de alguns “penetras” como o próprio Alex disse, é extremamente importante e útil, visto que passamos conhecemos a fundo as intenções e futuras ações da Microsoft visando as comunidades locais. Para concluir, algo que sempre digo: participe de alguma comunidade técnica da sua região. Entre em contato com influenciadores, conheça os grupos de usuários perto de você e não perca tempo. Ter o conhecimento perto de você, contribuir e crescer profissionalmente não tem preço. • Action button: only true once per press

  I'm using SFML2.0 and am trying to make a wrapper class for my controller/joystick. I read all the input data from my controller and send it off to my controllable object. I want to have two types of buttons per button press, one that is continues(true false state ) and one that is an action and is set to false after the next frame update. Here is an example of how I set my button A to true or false with the SFML api. Whereas data is my struct of buttons, and A holds my true/false state every update. data.A = sf::Joystick::isButtonPressed(i,st::input::A); But I've also added "data.actionA" which represents the one time action state. Basically what I want is for actionA to be set false after the update its been set to true. I'm trying to keep track of the previous state. But I seem to fall into this loop where it toggles between true and false every update. Anyone an idea? Edit: Since I can't answer my own question yet here is my solution: data.actionA = data.A = sf::Joystick::isButtonPressed(i,st::input::A); if(prev.A) data.actionA = false; First I always set the actionA to the value of the button state. Then I check if the previous state of A is true. If so we negate the value.

• Adobe flash player not working with Amazon Prime

  I have ubuntu 12.04 64bit using Google Chrome. I had chromium from the app center then today amazon prime video stopped working. It told me to update Flash. So I uninstalled chromium and installed Google Chrome. Didn't work. Then I downloaded flash for ubuntu via apt. That one gave me a "flash version isn't supported" message. The flash version was 11. Now I tried http://apt.ubuntu.com/p/flashplugin-installer It worked, but right in the middle of the video, it popped the error message again. Sorry we are unable to stream this video. This is likely because your Flash Player needs to be updated. So I don't know what happened.
