• Outlook 2007 in Windows XP Mode when already have Outlook 2010 installed

  I'm running on Win7 Pro x64. I have Office 2010 x64 installed. Company uses a plugin from Zantaz to archive emails and attachments. As far as i know, there is no x64 version or support for Outlook 2010 to date. If i install Win 7's XP Mode, will i be able to install Outlook 2007 side by side with Outlook 2010? The 2007 version will be used only from within this XP Mode.

• Cannot uninstall Office Live Add-in 1.4 after installing Office 2010

  Last night I upgraded to Office 2010 RTM from MSDN. I'm now trying to uninstall the Office Live Add-in that I used with Office 2007 as this functionality is built in to Office 2010. When I run the uninstall from control panel I get the following message: Microsoft Office Live Add-in cannot be installed because you do not have the right version of Microsoft Office installed on your computer Google has pointed to 2 solutions, both of which are pretty useless: Use the MS Windows Installer Cleanup - this is not good because all it does is remove the Installer entry from the registry, leaving all the installed files behind Uninstall Office 2010, uninstall Add-in, reinstall Office 2010 - that is just rediculous, but typical MS response So, can I get this off my system without resorting to option 2?

  I'm having issues with restoring my .bak files to my own sharepoint environment due to version difference. My version is currently: Sharepoint Server with Enterprise Client Access License Ms sharepoint Foundation 2010 core : 14.0.4763.1000 Security Update of Ms sharepoint Foundation 2010(kb2494001) 14.0.6106.5008 Server Version(Where I'm creating my Backups): SharePoint Server with Enterprise Client Access License Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 Core : 14.0.4763.1000 Security Update for Office SharePoint Foundation 2010 (KB2345322) : 14.0.5123.5002 I would like to know if there is a way I could enable my backups from the Server to be compatible with my version. My only option is to downgrade my version since I'm not an admin to the server. Does my Client Access License an issue? Can I just downgrade my security update to match the one in the server? If there is would you please be kind enough to tell me how. ?

• Commerce Server 2009 with SharePoint 2010 experiences

  Hi, I'm trying to decide to between using MojoPortal for my organizations CMS or Commerce Server 2009 with SharePoint 2010. We already have SharePoint 2010 for our intranet. In that thinking, perhaps it would make sense to deploy the same technology? We do not have a lot of traffic but do need basic e-commerce functionality. I haven't really found a lot of documentation for Commerce Server 2009. It would have to share the same server with SharePoint 2010. I'm not worried about that because of the low traffic. I'm worried about how difficult it is to install. Is it a nightmare product to install or is it pretty straightforward? Is it unrealistic for it to share a server with SharePoint 2010, even in relatively low traffic? Any experiences with administering MojoPortal? Thanks!

• OEM Office 2010 without media - how to reinstall?

  I have recently purchased a new office desktop PC from Dell with OEM version of Windows 7 Pro and Office 2010 Pro. One of the reasons I always use Dell is that they always supply installation media CDs or DVDs, unlike some other companies that just give you ISO images on the hard disk that you have to burn yourself. This is the first PC I have purchased with Office 2010 Pro (OEM), and I was disappointed to see that Dell don't ship out any installation media for office 2010, they just supply a piece of card with the office pro product key printed on it. If the HDD fails completely and I have to perform a clean installation, how can I re-install office? Can I download the trial version of Office 2010 and install that, then offer it my product key? Bearing in mind that the product key is an OEM product, not a retail product, would this work?

• Unable to Uninstall Exchange 2010 ("Internet Newsgroups" public folder)

  I am trying to uninstall Exchange 2010, before installing a new instance of Exchange 2010 SP1 on a different server. (Our production Exchange server is 2003) We have met all of the Mailbox uninstall prereqs except for the following: Error: Uninstall cannot continue. Database 'Public Folder Database 1579722947': The public folder database "Public Folder Database 1579722947" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database. For detailed instructions about how to remove a public folder database, see http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=81409&clcid=0x409. Recommended Action: We have been able to delete all Public Folders in the 2010 storage group except for the one (previously replicated) folder - "Internet Newsgroups". How can I delete this folder without impacting public folders on the production Exchange 2003 server? • Exchange 2010 update timezone of all calendar items

  We are currently operating Exchange 2010 server with Outlook 2010 clients on a ship. We have just changed timezones for the first time in quite a while today. Is there any way to rebase all the calendars and/or update all the calendar items to the new timezone at the same time? I have looked at the following tools already. Microsoft Exchange Calendar Update Configuration Tool - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6266 (Doesn't support exchange 2010) Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook - http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17291 The Time Zone Data Update Tool for Microsoft Office Outlook does work for individual users, but has some serious downsides. Including each user needs to run it (approx 400 users), and also it only seems to work on the default account in Outlook 2010, a lot of our users have role accounts as well that we would need to run the tool on. The only way I can find to get this tool to run on the role accounts is to make the role account the default account in outlook, and that in itself is quiet an involved process especially if you have 2 or 3 role accounts. So is there a way to just change all calendar items on our Exchange server to a different timezone in one go? We are a little unique in terms of the whole organisation can change timezones over night, meeting rooms and all, but surely a product as advanced as Exchange 2010 allows us to do what we need.

• Advantages to upgrading from SharePoint Foundation 2010?

  I feel like this should be extremely obvious, but after staring at this document from Microsoft and Googling for a while I'm still at a loss as to the advantages of SharePoint Server 2010 and SharePoint Enterprise 2010 over SharePoint Foundation 2010. My users currently use SharePoint Foundation 2010 to collaborate on a handful of excel documents within the office. There is talk of expanding to have a second and third SharePoint server at another plant and at our corporate offices. If there is a reason to upgrade now would be a good time to ask for the money while we're talking expansion. Is it worth it from either an administrative or an end-user perspective? Or is the free version really just that wonderful?

• What have my fellow Delphi programmers done to make Eclipse/Java more like Delphi?

  I am a veteran Delphi programmer working on my first real Android app. I am using Eclipse and Java as my development environment. The thing I miss the most of course is Delphi's VCL components and the associated IDE tools for design-time editing and code creation. Fortunately I am finding Eclipse to be one hell of an IDE with it's lush context sensitive help, deep auto-complete and code wizard facilities, and other niceties. This is a huge double treat since it is free. However, here is an example of something in the Eclipse/Java environment that will give a Delphi programmer pause. I will use the simple case of adding an "on-click" code stub for an OK button. DELPHI Drop button on a form Double-click button on form and fill in the code that will fire when the button is clicked ECLIPSE Drop button on layout in the graphical XML file editor Add the View.OnClickListener interface to the containing class's "implements" list if not there already. (Command+1 on Macs, Ctrl + 1 on PCs I believe). Use Eclipse to automatically add the code stub for unimplemented methods needed to support the View.OnClickListener interface, thus creating the event handler function stub. Find the stub and fill it in. However, if you have more than one possible click event source then you will need to inspect the View parameter to see which View element triggered the OnClick() event, thus requiring a case statement to handle multiple click event sources. NOTE: I am relatively new to Eclipse/Java so if there is a much easier way of doing this please let me know. Now that work flow isn't all that terrible, but again, that's just the simplest of use cases. Ratchet up the amount of extra work and thinking for a more complex component (aka widget) and the large number of properties/events it might have. It won't be long before you miss dearly the Delphi intelligent property editor and other designers. Eclipse tries to cover this ground by having an extensive list of properties in the menu that pops up when you right-click over a component/widget in the XML graphical layout editor. That's a huge and welcome assist but it's just not even close to the convenience of the Delphi IDE. Let me be very clear. I absolutely am not ranting nor do I want to start a Delphi vs. Java ideology discussion. Android/Eclipse/Java is what it is and there is a lot that impresses me. What I want to know is what other Delphi programmers that made the switch to the Eclipse/Java IDE have done to make things more Delphi like, and not just to make component/widget event code creation easier but any programming task.   What are the options for backup software for: HOST - Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with HyperV VIRTUAL - Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with Exchange 2010 VIRTUAL - Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with SQL Express / SharePoint VIRTUAL - Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with Terminal Services (10 users working on it) VIRTUAL - Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise with AD/DNS What I'm looking at is possibility of having an offsite backup thru FTP, maybe copy to usb/esata/lan drives for easy taking backup data outside of company. What I've been looking at: - Symantec Exec Backup 2010 System Recovery has an offsite backup but I would need 5 licenses and it doesn't have granular recovery. - Symantec Exec Backup 2010 seems OK but a bit expensive - Microsoft DPM 2010 requires full SQL Standard and for each machine I would need 4 Enterprise licenses. But does it allow Offsite backup without need for additional license and server outside of company (for doing DPM backup of DPM). What other options? This is 10 people company and so the costs matter but also convenience and security. Offsite backup is requirement.

• Exchange 2010 DAG + VMWare HA = no support?

  We currently have an Exchange 2003 clustered environment (two machine cluster) that we're looking to upgrade to 2010. We recently purchased a VMWare virtualization environment (three Dell R710's with an EMC NS-120 serving up NFS datastores - iSCSI is available) that we wish to use for this new environment. I'm seeing that Microsoft does not support Exchange 2010 DAGs with a virtualization high availability solution (see links below). I would like to utilize the DAG to ensure the data stays available if one host goes down, and HA to ensure that if the physical host goes down, the VM will come back up on the other available host. Does anybody know why MS does not support this? VMWare HA will only restart the VM if it is hung/down - I don't see any difference between this and restarting the physical box if someone pulled the power... Will we only run into issues with support if it has something to do with HA/DAG failover or will they see we have HA and tell us to put it on a physical box even if it has nothing to do with HA? If we disable HA for these VM's will that satisfy them on a support case? Has anybody set up an Exchange 2010 DAG on VMware with HA enabled? Will they have any issues with using an NFS datastore? We have much greater flexibility on the EMC with NFS vs iSCSI, so I would prefer to continue utilizing that. • Synapse and string problems with HTTPSend in Delphi 2010

  I have been trying to get to the bottom of this problem off and on for the past 2 days and I'm really stuck. Hopefully some smart folks can help me out. The issue is that I have a function that I call in a thread that downloads a file (using Synapse libraries) from a website that is passed to it. However, I've found that every once in a while there are sites where it will not pull down a file, but wget or Firefox/IE will download it without issue. Digging into it, I've found some curious things. • Rtti data manipulation and consistency in Delphi 2010

  Has anyone an idea, how I can make TValue using a reference to the original data? In my serialization project, I use (as suggested in XML-Serialization) a generic serializer which stores TValues in an internal tree-structure (similar to the MemberMap in the example). This member-tree should also be used to create a dynamic setup form and manipulate the data. My idea was to define a property for the Data: TDataModel <T> = class {...} private FData : TValue; function GetData : T; procedure SetData (Value : T); public property Data : T read GetData write SetData; end; The implementation of the GetData, SetData Methods: procedure TDataModel <T>.SetData (Value : T); begin FData := TValue.From <T> (Value); end; procedure TDataModel <T>.GetData : T; begin Result := FData.AsType <T>; end; Unfortunately, the TValue.From method always makes a copy of the original data. So whenever the application makes changes to the data, the DataModel is not updated and vice versa if I change my DataModel in a dynamic form, the original data is not affected. Sure I could always use the Data property before and after changing anything, but as I use lot of Rtti inside my DataModel, I do not realy want to do this anytime. Perhaps someone has a better suggestion?

• Adding files to the DPR file vs project paths in Delphi 2010

  We are just migrating from D7 to D2010 and are having a debate about cleaning up the project paths. We have a number of directories with a large number of Pas files that are included on some project paths, but only a few of the files are actually used by any single project. One option is to eliminate the project paths completely and only have all used files in the dpr. The second option is to keep only the needed files in the dpr and have project paths to the directories for the rest of the files. Is there any argument for one option over the other?

• In Excel 2010, how can I show a count of occurrences on a specific date within multiple time ranges?

  Here's what I'm trying to do. I have three columns of data. ID, Date(MM/DD/YY), Time(00:00). I need to create a chart or table that shows the number of occurrences on, say, 12/10/2010 between 00:00 and 00:59, 1:00 and 1:59, etc, for each hour of the day. I can do countif and get results for the date, but I cannot figure out how to show a summary of the count of occurrences per hour for the 24 hour period. I have months of data and many times each day. Example of data set is below. Any help is greatly ID Date Time 221 12/10/2010 00:01 223 12/10/2010 00:45 227 12/10/2010 01:13 334 12/11/2010 14:45 I would like the results to read: Date Time Count 12/10/2010 00:00AM - 00:59AM 2 12/10/2010 01:00AM - 01:59AM 1 12/10/2010 02:00AM - 02:59AM 0 ......(continues for every hour of the day) 12/11/2010 00:00AM - 00:59AM 0 ......... 12/11/2010 14:00PM - 14:59PM 1 And so on. Tested in notepad for formatting and worked ok on import as csv. • ADSIEdit Cleanup After Exchange 2003 Crash During Transition To Exchange 2010

  Hello all. I would value some input from a few Exchange 2010 experts. I have almost completed the transition from Exchange 2003 Standard to Exchange 2010 Standard. Everything went smoothly until I tried to uninstall Exchange 2003. At that point the server bit the dust and died completely. I now have NO access to the old Exchange System Management MMC as I am running Windows 2008 SR2 and Windows 7 only. I can only fix this with ADSIEdit, EMShell, and EMConsole. I have used the 2010 shell to move/remove/verify that all mailboxes, public folders and OAB are hosted on Exchange 2010. I also verified that the routing connector has been deleted. The only two things that were not done was to remove the Recipient Update Service and actually perform the removal of the 2003 software. I have spent a lot of time going through ASDIedit and have located the old Administrative Group and the Exchange 2003 server listed under it. I also located the Recipient Update Service which includes two entries; Enterprise and my domain name. I have read that it is an unwise idea to remove the old administrative group so I won't bother messing with that. I am repeatedly getting three warnings in the Application Log. Both are from MSExchangeTransport EventID 5006 (Cannot find route to Mailbox Server OLDSERVER) and 5020 (The topology doesn't contain a route to Exchange 2000 Server or Exchange Server 2003) So my questions are: To clean out AD of the old Exchange 2003 info, can I delete the server name folder (Configuration - Services - Microsoft Exchange - ExchOrg - Administrative Groups - First Administrative Group - Servers - Old Server) and also delete the Update Recipient Service (Enterprise) and Update Recipient Service (DOMAIN) containers safely? Are there any additional items I need to address to ensure the AD is clean? Thanks in advance for your help!

• Need to Remove Exchange 2003 Server That Crashed During Transition to 2010

  As the title stated, we were running an Exchange 2003 server that we knew was going down soon so we purchased a second server and installed Exchange 2010 into the AD. We managed to move all of the mailboxes off of 2003 and also managed to get the Offline Address Book setup on 2010. At this point the 2003 server bit the dust and will no longer boot. Therefore we were unable to properly uninstall Exchange and remove the last 2003 server so it still exists in AD. As far as the clients are concerned, everything is working properly. However, when I run the Microsoft Exchange Profile Analyzer, I still see the old server and its Administrative Group. I am going to guess that since the old server is showing up in AD, I will not be able to raise Exchange or AD functionality (as the 2003 server was also the only AD DC) levels. I have forced the 2003 DC out of AD so that is no longer an issue. Old Setup: Windows 2003 Server Enterprise & Exchange 2003 Standard New Setup: Windows 2010 Server Enterprise & Exchange 2010 Standard Two Questions: How do you go about manually forcing the 2003 server and its administrative group out of AD? When that is finished, where do you raise the Exchange mode (can't find this for the life of me)?

• Outlook 2007/2010 autodiscovering old Exchange info

  I currently have an Exchange setup as follows: two Exchange 2003 servers clustered together set up as the current mailbox stores, one Exchange 2003 setup as a frontend, one Exchange 2007 set up as a frontend (was set up for testing by my predecessor, never really used intentionally), and now four Exchange 2010 servers - two mailboxes in a DAG and two with Hub/CAS. Everything seems to be working fine with one exception - Outlook 2007/2010 clients are still autodiscovering the test 2007 frontend and not the 2010 CAS array. I know this because there's an expired cert on the 2007 box so the client displays a cert error when you attempt to autocreate the outlook profile. From what I've read, there is an SCP (Service Connection Point) in AD that is pointing to the old server and it is getting returned first, causing Outlook to try it first. How can I prevent Outlook from even attempting to connect to this 2007 box from now on? http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2010/management-administration/exchange-autodiscover.html When Outlook 2007 is installed on a domain joined workstation then the Outlook client will query Active Directory for the Autodiscover information. Active Directory will return a list of SCP’s and the Outlook client will automatically select the first SCP in this list. Using the information found in the SCP the Outlook client will contact the Client Access Server for its configuration information and the Outlook client will be configured automatically.

• Excel 2010 data validation warning (compatibility mode)

  We have some legacy worksheets that were created in Excel 2003, which are used by LabVIEW-based test automation software. The current LabVIEW software can only handle the legacy .xls format, so we're forced to keep these worksheets as-is for the time being. We've migrated to Office 2010 and when working with these worksheets, I see this warning: "The following features in this workbook are not supported by earlier versions of Excel. These features may be lost or degraded when you save this workbook in the currently selected file format. Click Continue to save the workbook anyway. To keep all of your features, click Cancel and then save the file in one of the new file formats." "Significant loss of functionality" "One or more cells in this workbook contain data validation rules which refer to values on other worksheets. These data validation rules will not be saved." When I click 'Find', some cells that do indeed have validation rules are highlighted, but those rules are all on the same worksheet! We're using simple list-based validation, with some cells off to the side containing the valid values (for example, cell B4 has a List with Source "=$D$4:$E$4") This makes no sense to me whatsoever. One, the workbook was created in Excel 2003, so obviously we couldn't implement a feature that doesn't exist. Secondly, the modifications we're making don't involve changing the validation rules at all. Thirdly, the complaint that Excel is making is incorrect! All of the rules are on the same worksheet as the target. As if the story wasn't bizarre enough: I went ahead and saved the worksheet with Excel 2010. I then went to an old computer back in the lab and opened the document with Excel 2003. Guess what - the validations were untouched! My questions are: is this a legitimate bug in Excel 2010, or is this some exotic error in the legacy .xls worksheet that is confusing the heck out of Excel 2010? Has anyone else observed this issue working in compatibility mode?

• Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2, built-in font smoothing

  I've just installed Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 onto my Windows XP to evaluate it and check whether it meets my preferences the way it did before. Okay, I've temporary defeated an urgent bug with a strange workaround (I could not open any file from the Solution Explorer), and it left bad memories to me. But however, it's okay. The first thing I've seen just opening the code editor was ClearType font rendering. Wow, so unexpectedly. I must note that I do not use standard Windows rendering techniques, but I still prefer GDI++, a font renderer developed by Japanese developers. (GDI++ allows to render the fonts in Mac/Win-Safari style over entire Windows.) Personally for me, GDI++ reaches the great font-rendering results allowing me to use the Dejavu Sans Mono font with really nice smoothing in Visual Studio 2008 (VS 2005 too, though VS 2005 crashes in this case). But GDI++ cannot affect Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 text editor - it uses ClearType (right?), and it does not care about the system font smoothing settings. It could be an editor based on WPF, right? So as far as I can see, I can't use GDI++ anymore because it uses Windows GDI(+) but no WPF? So I've got several questions: Is it possible to disable VS 2010 b2 built-in ClearType or override it with another font smoother? Is it possible to install a Safari-like font renderer for Visual Studio 2010 [betas]? Thanks a lot.

• Outlook 2010 Crashing Unpredictably

  Very often when I open up Outlook 2010 and start doing actions in it, it will hang and become non responsive. I have tried letting it finish, but it never does come back (up to 20 minutes of letting it try). I generally have to restart Outlook and try again. Usually after about an hour of doing this, Outlook somehow snaps out of it and works for the rest of the day. It's generally in the morning (though I doubt that's the key variable). Generally, the emails that cause problems are HTML/formatted, but not always. What I've done so far to troubleshoot: Install Latest Outlook Hotfix (I think Dec 14, 2010) Start Outlook in Safe Mode Neither of those steps seem to make a difference. Usually - after about 10-15 restarts of Outlook on any given day, then it starts working thereafter. My next step is to uninstall/reinstall Office 2010, but I'm hoping someone has seen this and knows what to do about it - though not sure. My configuration is like this: Microsoft Online Services (using Microsoft's Sign In App) - Connecting to Exchange I have two other Exchange accounts in this profile (new feature in 2010) connected through Outlook Anywhere. Life Meeting Conferencing Add In I've disabled the People tab/add in. I've disabled the "Send to Bluetooth" add-in. Not sure what else to do. Thanks in advance.

• Synchronizing Outlook 2010 Calender with Sharepoint 2010 website Calender

  I just want to know how to synchronize my Outlook 2010 calender to sharepoint 2010 website. I am able to synchronize sharepoint calender into my Outlook calender but not able to do Outlook calender (meetings, Data) into sharpoint Calender. When my office people go into our intranet site, I just want them to see my calender in sharepoint which updates the data from Outlook calender and displays it but this calender data on sharepoint calender should only be read only to other users.
