• Mac always boots with incorrect display gamma (for years now including Lion)

  I think somewhere, something got installed but I have no idea what or how to fix it :( Basically, my old MacBook Pro running 10.5 Leopard had a problem where on boot it would show everything on the screen in a very sort of crunched color space. Everything below 15% white would just be pure black, everything above 85% white would be pure white and all colors look to be a touch more saturated. It's garish. To fix it, I found that I could boot into almost any fullscreen 3D game. When the game launches, the colors would still be off, but when I then quite the game and return the desktop everything is normal again. I've noticed Blizzard games work most reliably for this (World of Warcraft or Starcraft2). This problem has followed me through the years. When I upgraded to an iMac I migrated everything over to it, and the issue now happens on the iMac too. I then got a new MacBook Pro for work and migrated my iMac over to that, and it has the problem too. I had thought that it was an OS bug, but upgrading to 10.6 Snow Leopard didn't fix it and neither did 10.7 Lion. Furthermore I can't find any reference on any forum or help site where anyone else has this problem. If anyone has any idea what processes or settings or apps I should look at to figure out why this is happening I should would appreciate it! It looks sort of irresponsible when I open my laptop in the office to work and then boot up Starcraft 2 full screen...

• How to make my display Grayscale?

  I want to reduce the saturation of my laptop monitor to the point that it is almost grayscale. That's the goal. Intel and Asus don't have an answer. Asus Splendid and the intel graphics control panel can increase the saturation, but not lower it. I would prefer a software solution, although I DIY'ed a vga grayscale adapter for my desktop. I have an Asus UL30A with an Intel GMA 4500MHD. I know that the latest ATI cards, windotosh's and high end nvidia cards all support control panel desaturation. Why? black and white makes me 3 times more productive.

  I am fresh for Ubuntu and Linux in general. I have installed Ubuntu 12.04 and stuck trying to setup correct resolution for my LCD display. The native resolution for the LCD is 1920x1080 here is the output from xrandr: $xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 720, maximum 4096 x 4096 LVDS1 connected 1280x720+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1280x720 60.0*+ 800x600 60.3 56.2 640x480 59.9 VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) Then I create new modeline: $ cvt 1920 1080 60 1920x1080 59.96 Hz (CVT 2.07M9) hsync: 67.16 kHz; pclk: 173.00 MHz Modeline "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync So far so good. then I create new mode using xrandr: $ xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_60.00" 173.00 1920 2048 2248 2576 1080 1083 1088 1120 -hsync +vsync But for some reason that new mode was created for VGA (VGA1) output instead of LCD output (LVDS1): $ xrandr Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1280 x 720, maximum 4096 x 4096 LVDS1 connected 1280x720+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm 1280x720 60.0*+ 800x600 60.3 56.2 640x480 59.9 VGA1 disconnected (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 1920x1080_60.00 (0xbc) 173.0MHz <---------- ????!!!!!! h: width 1920 start 2048 end 2248 total 2576 skew 0 clock 67.2KHz v: height 1080 start 1083 end 1088 total 1120 clock 60.0Hz So, if I try to add mode to LVDS1, I get an error: $ xrandr --addmode LVDS1 "1920x1080_60.00" X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes) Major opcode of failed request: 149 (RANDR) Minor opcode of failed request: 18 (RRAddOutputMode) Serial number of failed request: 25 Current serial number in output stream: 26 Adding that new mode to VGA1 works fine, but I don't use that VGA1 output.

  I pass the query with comments to my template: COMM = CommentModel.gql("ORDER BY created") doRender(self,CP.template,{'CP':CP,'COMM':COMM, 'authorize':authorize()}) And I want to output the number of comments as a result, and I try to do things like that: <a href="...">{{ COMM|length }} comments</a> Thats does not work (yeah, since COMM is GqlQuery, not a list). What can I do with that? Is there a way to convert GqlQuery to list or is there another solution? (first question) Second question is, how to filter this list in template? Is there a construct like this: <a href="...">{{ COMM|where(reference=smth)|length }} comments</a> so that I can get not only the number of all comments, but only comments with certain db.ReferenceProperty() property, for example. Last question: is it weird to do such things using templates?

• How to use two templates for ListViewItem using WPF

  Hi, I would like to have a ListView that would have have items similar to Microsoft Outlook inbox with items arranged by Conversations (see the attached photo). An item can either be a simple textblock containing the topic of the conversation (on the photo this are the blue lines) or it can contain email information specified by the ListView's header. It would be best if the items with conversation topics would be push buttons so that emails inside that conversation could be shown or hidden by pressing this button. Any ideas how can I achieve this? Do I specify two ListViewItem templates? If yes, how do I tell in the code which template to use for each item? Any help will be GREATLY appreciated!!   Hi, I’ve throughout the last couple of years downloaded a lot of templates for websites and these are now starting to become chaotic in the different folders so I’m starting to get a overview of the different templates. Regarding to this I was thinking about the way that WordPress displays the different themes installed in the themes folder. It provides a small overview (thumbnail) of the theme and a possibility to preview the theme. Of cause, I don’t need or want such a advanced system as Wordpress but I’m attractive to the idea of displaying my templates in the same kind of manner and without using a Database. I’ve played around with different directory management scripts and tools for PHP but the best result I’ve got so fare is just to display the different content in the different folders but not create a preview which in each preview it will use the webpage itself and it’s stylesheets, images, etc. Does anyone have an idea how to create such a script or have a link to a already existing script. Of cause is all the main pages named index.htm / .html Sincere Mestika

• Missing templates after re-installing VS 2008

  I installed VS 2008 and I installed .NET 3.5 SP1 and I got all templates. Then, I had to uninstall VS 2008 (please don't ask why) without uninstalling .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 or anything else. After that, I re-installed VS 2008 back, then I open up VS 2008 and found that when I add a new item the Entity Framework template is not among the list anymore. Could someone please help on how to resolve this problem? Thank you so much! Ray.

  I'm trying to create a set of overloaded templates for arrays/pointers where one template will be used when the compiler knows the size of the array and the other template will be used when it doesn't: template <typename T, size_t SZ> void moo(T (&arr)[SZ]) { ... } template <typename T> void moo(T *ptr) { ... } The problem is that when the compiler knows the size of the array, the overloads are ambiguous and the compile fails. Is there some way to resolve the ambiguity (perhaps via SFINAE) or is this just not possible.

I dont use something custom. What the problem? Server is apache with wsgi module.

  I followed the other questions on StackOverflow and made custom User Templates. Instead of replacing the factory default Cocoa class template, I have to pick a new user template. The order that is shown in XCode's New File dialog box is: iPhone templates first (great if you mostly do iphone development) Second the User templates Third the default Mac OS templates. I want my user stuff first, Mac OS templates second, and I want to bury iPhone templates in third and last place. The sort is obviously not alphabetical. And you can't drag/drop reorder.   I have a dictionary called number_devices I'm passing to a template, the dictionary keys are the ids of a list of objects I'm also passing to the template (called implementations). I'm iterating over the list of objects and then trying to use the object.id to get a value out of the dict like so: {% for implementation in implementations %} {{ number_devices.implementation.id }} {% endfor %} Unfortunately number_devices.implementation is evaluated first, then the result.id is evaluated obviously returning and displaying nothing. I can't use parentheses like: {{ number_devices.(implementation.id) }} because I get a parse error. How do I get around this annoyance in Django templates? Thanks for any help!

  Hi, this is a rather basic question (I'm new to Django) but I'm having trouble using a variable set in my view inside my template. If I initialize a string or list inside my view (i.e. h = "hello") and then attempt to call it inside a template: {{ h }} there is neither output nor errors. Similarly, if I try to use a variable inside my template that doesn't exist: {{ asdfdsadf }} there is again no error reported. Is this normal? And how can I use my variables within my templates.   We have gotten WSO2 governance registry to send e-mails successfully. Now we want to template the emails that are being sent out. There is a sample at : http://docs.wso2.org/wiki/display/Governance450/Notification+E-mail+Customization+Sample This allows you to alter the text coming through the event but is there an easier way that writing Java code? • Templates, and C++ operator for logic: B contained by set A

  In C++, I'm looking to implement an operator for selecting items in a list (of type B) based upon B being contained entirely within A. In the book "the logical design of digital computers" by Montgomery Phister jr (published 1958), p54, it says: F11 = A + ~B has two interesting and useful associations, neither of them having much to do with computer design. The first is the logical notation of implication... The second is notation of inclusion... This may be expressed by a familiar looking relation, B < A; or by the statement "B is included in A"; or by the boolean equation F11= A + ~B = 1. My initial implementation was in C. Callbacks were given to the list to use for such operations. An example being a list of ints, and a struct containting two ints, min and max, for selection purposes. There, selection would be based upon B = A-min && B <= A-max. Using C++ and templates, how would you approach this after having implemented a generic list in C using void pointers and callbacks? Is using < as an over-ridden operator for such purposes... <ugh> evil? </ugh> (or by using a class B for the selection criteria, implementing the comparison by overloading ?)
