    iPhone web app from dashcode rss feed template works deployed on simulator but not on iphone. The web app is deployed at; http://www.alila.se/wordpress/index.html If i run the simulator and enter that adress, it fetches the rss feed and displays it. Everything fine. When i enter the adress into my iphone, same os 3.1.2 as the simulator, i just get the header part of the page. No rss feed. The rss feed is; alila.se/wordpress/?feed=rss2 and the source can be downloaded from: alila.se/rss_feed.zip

    Nuget feed by team city is working perfectly but there is a strange problem. Local IP (http://192.168.xx.xx:9999/feed/../): Listing through browser works Accessing packages through Visual studio 11 nuget works VPN IP (http://55.xx.xx.xx:9999/feed/../): Listing packages through browser works Accessing packages through Visual studio 11 nuget PROBLEM GUEST Account: Everything works fine, both on VPN and local IP (so its purely an authentication problem) The problem is, we can't get the user to authenticate. Using the same credentials, no matter what we try we get 401. The server VPN ip is whitelisted in internet explorer intranet settings. Any ideas? Basically HTTP authentication is failing for the VPN although it shouldn't, since the browser works fine!

    I have the idea to create a very simple tech update feed for internal collaboration in our company. For that I'm looking for the easiest way of writing messages which then get syndicated as RSS feed. Something like a mini blog tool. The simpler the better. Enter title, body and send, all subscribers of the feed get the new message. Sort of like Twitter without using Twitter.   • Correctly parsing an ATOM feed

    I currently have setup a Python script that uses feedparser to read a feed and parse it. However, I have recently come across a problem with the date parsing. The feed I am reading contains <modified>2010-05-05T24:17:54Z</modified> - which comes up in Python as a datetime object - 2010-05-06 00:17:54. Notice the discrepancy: the feed entry was modified on the 5th of may, while python reads it as the 6th. So the question is why this is happening. Is the ATOM feed (that is, the one who created the feed) wrong by putting the time as 24:17:54, or is my python script wrong in the way it treats it. And can I solve this?

    Hello I've got an application which serves an rss feed of headlines and I need to provide this rss feed to other consumers. I don't want to provide the rss directly from my server though, due to limited server resources, so I need to proxy (cache) it through some service which will handle the load. Assuming the rss feed URL of my application is http://example.com/rss I initially provided my consumers with the url http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/services/feed/load?v=1.0&q=http%3A%2F%2Fexample.com%2Frss which solved my server load problem but introduced a liveness problem. The headlines are minutes to hours late from the actual feed (haven't exactly measured how much late). I've also tried distributing through feedburner so the url became something like http://feeds.feedburner.com/example123?format=xml but the liveness problem still exists. Is there a public and free solution for this problem? Anything below 5 minutes of liveness delay would be totally acceptable. thanks

Now our application is deployed in cloud. There also this RSS feed is opening and showing the data. But When I say Subscribe to this feed Its giving diagnose error page saying Internet Explorer Can not Display this page. Let me know how to work with RSS feed in cloud environment.

  • RSS feed without items

    I have webpage where I have a search page. I provide a "dynamic" RSS feed for search so that a user can subscribe to search results for any search term he likes. So I was wondering what is the standard (or best practise) way to do if that search term returns 0 results which means I have no "items" to put in the feed. Do I just return an empty feed (only including the meta data and no item elements). Or should I put some special item element in the feed with some "no results" text? edit: YouTube returns a feed without any item elements. If no-one can answer me I'll take it that this is the right way of doing it since I can't find any info elsewhere :)

It is preferable to have move to the other site where the same data is available in xml format.   • Do Google's feed statistics include former users?

    I'm currently not using any sort of fancy stat tracking software such as feedburner, but I occasionally look at Google's stats in their Webmaster Tools just to get a rough idea of whether the number of subscribers is going up or down. This only gives the number of users subscribed through Google products, as they explain in their help documents: Subscriber stats display the number of Google users who have subscribed to your feeds using any Google product (such as Reader, iGoogle, or Orkut). Because users can subscribe to feeds using many different aggregators or RSS readers, the actual number of subscribers to your site may be higher. I used to use Google Reader very regularly but haven't opened it in a while now. The way I understand it, this will mean that even though I haven't touched any of those feeds in a long time I'm still technically subscribed to them and will therefore be included in Google's statistic. Is this correct? Also since Google runs Feedburner, does this have any effect on their stats as well?

  • Content from a domain I used to own is appearing in my twitter feed

    I had an old domain with a WordPress setup hosted by GoDaddy. I changed the business name and moved everything over to a new site, new domain, and new host a couple of years ago. I let the old domain expire. It was recently purchased by someone for cheap, article spun content. Now, anytime they post a new article, it's automatically posted to my Twitter account. I contacted them to remove this, but given the quality of their spun articles, I doubt they will remove it. Is there any recourse I have through Twitter or the host to get this removed?

    I'm trying to get Thunderbird to be my default application to subscribe to feed that I visit in firefox. I "choose application" and put in the path of Thunderbird executable C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\thunderbird.exe And it doesn't work, asks me to close Thunderbird It's strange that Firefox has Outlook as a selectable option which works flawlessly but its own brother Thunderbird isn't even on the list of defaults. PS: And when I have Thunderbird closed and then do the above, it starts the Thunderbird and puts the feed in whatever folder it likes without even asking me.

    From an iTunes page, like http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/this-week-in-tech-mp3-edition/id73329404, is there a way to extract the corresponding feed address? In this case it would be http://leoville.tv/podcasts/twit.xml. I know that if you open on iTunes you can extract it manually, but I want to do it programmatically. There's a link to the website of the podcast, but it may not be accurate. In this case it points to a web site with 20 podcasts on it.

  • Geek Bike Ride Sao Paulo

    What do you do on sunny Saturday in Sao Paulo when you have several Java enthusiasts, street lanes closed off for bicyclists, new cool Duke jerseys, and some wonderful bike angels to provide a tour through the city? A GEEK BIKE RIDE, of course! The weekend before JavaOne Latin America, the Sao Paulo geek bike ride was held today. We had 20+ riders and a wonderful route that took us from the Bicycle Park to and through downtown. It was a 30Km ride, but our hosts were kind enough to give riders the option to take the subway for part of the trip. Thanks to our wonderful bike angels, the usual rental bike problems like rubbing brakes, dropped chains, and even a flat tire were handled with ease.  The geek bike ride wasn't just for out-of-towners. Loiane Groner, who lives in Sao Paulo said, "I love the Geek Bike Ride! The last time I was in these parts of the city, I think I was five years-old!" A good time was had by all. (My only crash of the day was riding up an escalator with my bike. Luckily, the bikers with me were so busy helping me that no pictures were taken. <phew>) Enjoy this video by Hugo Lavalle You can also view Hugo's pictures.
