• Unable to connect to Wireless after installing Ubuntu 12.10

  I am using Asus U56E laptop and after installing Ubuntu 12.10 alongside Windows 8, I am unable to connect to the Wireless. I have been trying to solve this problem since two weeks and couldn't solve it. Please help. Any answer would be appreciated.   I have a machine on Linode that is driving me crazy. Linode does not have SELinux on CentOS6... I'm trying to configure to put my website in "/home/websites/public_html/mysite.com/public" As I don´t have SELinux enable, how can I avoid the "403 Forbidden" that I get when trying to access the webpage?   I'm trying to get a Yaws web server working on a cloud service (Amazon AWS). I've compilled and installed a local copy on the server. My problem is that I can't get Yaws to run while running on either port 8000 or port 80. • SQL Server 2008 - Error starting service - model.mdf not found?!

  my SQL server 2008 was running fine. About an hour ago, it suddenly stopped - the MSSQLSERVER service had stopped I right clicked, clicked start, and it said the service had started, and stopped I looked in the event log and saw these two errors: 17207 : udopen: Operating system error 3(error not found) during the creation/opening of physical device C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\model.mdf. 17204 : FCB::Open failed: Could not open device C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\model.mdf for virtual device number (VDN) 1. The model.mdf db has NEVER been in that location - i specified drive F: to use for data / log during install. I checked the SQL Configuration Manager, to try and set startup params, but SQL Server is not listed as one of the services..... EDIT: I've now moved the db to where it was looking for: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\data\ directory. Now if I start the service, it still does not work - i get this error message in the log: Could not find row in sysindexes for database ID 3, object ID 1, index ID 1. Run DBCC CHECKTABLE on sysindexes. Interestingly, i checked the error log - around the time users reported problems, there is this: 2010-01-08 17:11:26.44 spid51 Configuration option 'show advanced options' changed from 0 to 1. • Hosting a website on Heroku.... I know how to, but im running into problems!

  I'm starting to learn more on the back-end scale of programing. Recently I started up Heroku for the second or third time. This time I actually installed the Git update to my Mac and installed Heroku in the terminal. I wanted to upload a static html site with the sinatra gem. Everything worked out fine inside the terminal, though I added sinatra after I got everything working and the file with the site hooked up to Heroku. In my logs I did see that I was missing the sinatra gem, so I installed it. My site contains both the proper app.rb and config.ru files. I have nothing showing up online. Just a blank screen! Contacting Heroku on this problem has been very difficult. • Hosting a website on Heroku.... I know how to, but im running into problems!

  I'm starting to learn more on the back-end scale of programing. Recently I started up Heroku for the second or third time. This time I actually installed the Git update to my Mac and installed Heroku in the terminal. I wanted to upload a static html site with the Sinatra gem. Everything worked out fine inside the terminal, though I added Sinatra after I got everything working and the file with the site hooked up to Heroku. In my logs I did see that I was missing the Sinatra gem, so I installed it. My site contains both the proper app.rb and config.ru files. I have nothing showing up online. Just a blank screen! Contacting Heroku on this problem has been very difficult. • DNS - domain conflict?

  I was given two domains: domain.com & domain.info (they are on GoDaddy). And I was also given two servers, 107.105.38.99 - Rails app and 107.107.90.17 - Wordpress platform, on Digital Ocean. At first, I was instructed to associate domain.com with the 107.107.38.99 (Rails app). Then I was instructed to de-associate this IP with domain.com and associated the 107.107.90.17 with the domain name domain.com. Then I was instructed to associated domain.info with the 107.107.38.99 (Rails app). Right now, when I go to domain.com the WordPress platform (107.107.90.17) loads fine and that is what is expected. But when I go to domain.info for the Rails app (107.107.38.99) I get redirected to domain.com. This is not expected and this is really weird for me. When I ping domain.info I get this: PING domain.info (107.107.38.99): 56 data bytes 64 bytes from 107.107.38.99: icmp_seq=0 ttl=50 time=74.601 ms Which is the expected result showing the correct IP but I don't understand why I get redirected to domain.com...(which when I ping is:) domain 64 bytes from 107.107.90.17: icmp_seq=0 ttl=50 time=75.057 ms The PTR Records on Digital Ocean are as follows: IP Address PTR Record 107.107.38.99 domain.info. 107.107.90.17 domain.com. and the DNS configurations on Digital Ocean are: domain.com A: @ 107.107.90.17 CNAME: * @ domain.info A: @ 107.107.38.99 CNAME: * @ I am not sure what the issue is, if you have any clue please let me know, I will be really grateful. • String to DateTime in C# to save in SQL server

  Hello All: I am an issue while converting "March 16-17" to DateTime and saving it to SQL server. "March 16-17" as it looks, read as March 16 to March 17, which in my case is invalid, but C# DateTime.TryParse() is treating "March 16 -17" as March 16, 2017 which is wrong, and saving the data in SQL server. SQL server treats "March 16-17" as invalid. So, can some body tell me how to use SQL server datetime validation in C#. Thanks Ashwani

• Windows 7 machine, can't connect remotely until after ping

  I have a Windows 7 (Home Premium) machine that doubles as a media centre and subversion server. There's a couple of problems with this setup, when connecting to the server from an XP (SP3) machine: Firstly, the machine won't respond to it's machine name until after it's IP address has been pinged. • Host name change breaking http? Fedora

  OK so I have been messing around on my development server. It has been a while since I have had my head in linux and I suspect I have broken something. I have SSH running and that is working fine. I also have HTTP and I had FTP running also. Earlier today I decided I wanted to rename the machine so I updated the /etc/hosts file and /etc/sysconfig/network. I also changed the server name in the httpd.conf. I rebooted the machine and reconnected to SSH fine. Later I was messing around with the FTP service (trying to tighten up the user security) and when i tried to connect remotely to FTP no joy, it said cannot connect. I thought that was weird but had planned to remove ftp as we will be using github so removed ftp and moved on. Then I tried to connect to the website but major fail. even connecting to the IP address is failing. I used lynx to connect to the localhost and there was my site so something going on at server level. I thought maybe something up with iptables but I have not changed them but tried adding http but still no joy.   I have some failing RAM in a server and I ran dmidecode to figure out what tyoe of RAM I needed to replace it with. The server has 6 RAM slots, 4 of which are in use. Please help me understand this.

  Hi there, I am writing an application where the user has to move some stuff on the screen using his fingers and drop them. To do this, I am using the touchesBegan,touchesEnded... function of each view that has to be moved. The problem is that sometimes the views are covered by a view displayed using the [UIViewController presentModalViewController] function. As soon as that happens, the UIView that I was moving stops receiving the touch events, since it was covered up. But there is no event telling me that it stopped receiving the events, so I can reset the state of the moved view. The following is an example that demonstrates this. The functions are part of a UIView that is being shown in the main window. It listens to touch events and when I drag the finger for some distance, it presents a modal view that covers everything. • MySQL on Linux out of memory

  OS: Redhat Enterprise Linux Server Release 5.3 (Tikanga) Architecture: Intel Xeon 64Bit MySQL Server 5.5.20 Enterprise Server advanced edition. Application: Liferay. My database size is 200MB. RAM is 64GB. The memory consumption increases gradually and we run out of memory. Then only rebooting releases all the memory, but then process of memory consumption starts again and reaches 63-64GB in less than a day. Parameters detail: key_buffer_size=16M innodb_buffer_pool_size=3GB inndb_buffer_pool_instances=3 max_connections=1000 innodb_flush_method=O_DIRECT innodb_change_buffering=inserts read_buffer_size=2M read_rnd_buffer_size=256K It's a serious production server issue that I am facing.   I am attempting to poll the temperature of an HP ProCurve 3500YL switch remotely using SNMP. Looking at this MIB, it appears that the following OIDs: hpCpuTemperature 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.6 hpPowerSupplyTemperature 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.7 hpChassisTemperature 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.8 Within the 'hpProcurveSysMib' should provide the data I need. However, whenever I attempt to access these OIDs, I receive the response: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1.1.6 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID Further investigation reveals that the switch in question does not appear to implement the parent hpProcurveSystem MIB: SNMPv2-SMI::enterprises.11.2.3.7.11.17.7.1.1 = No Such Object available on this agent at this OID Does anyone know of an alternative MIB implemented by the 3500 that will allow its temperature to be polled automatically?

• Tomcat/Hibernate Problem "SEVERE: Error listenerStart"

  I downloaded working example of hibernate (with maven) and installed it on my tomcat, it worked. Then I created a new web project in MyEclipse, added hibernate support and moved all source files (no jar) to this new project and fixed package/paths wherever was necessary. My servlets are responding correctly but when I add "Listener" in web.xml, tomcat returns error "Error ListenerStart" on startup and my application doesn't start. I've carefully checked all packages, paths and classes, they look good.
