• FreeBSD Listen Queue Overflows - can't increase max queue size

  I have a decently high trafficked FreeBSD Nginx server, and I'm starting to get a large number of listen queue overflows: [root@svr ~]# netstat -sp tcp | fgrep listen 80361931 listen queue overflows [root@svr ~]# netstat -Lan | grep "*.80" tcp4 192/0/128 *.80 [root@svr ~]# sysctl kern.ipc.somaxconn kern.ipc.somaxconn: 12288 [root@svr ~]# However I can't seem to increase the max listen queue length past 128. I've increased kern.ipc.somaxconn, but it's not changing the max. Am I missing something? Thanks!

• Batch Conversion of PaperPort MAX Files

  I've got a library of MAX files from an old Visioneer Scanner that used ScanSoft PaperPort. I don't have the PC that I used to scan them anymore, and I don't have the CD for PaperPort. Does anyone know of a utility I can use to open and convert .MAX files to something more useful like a JPEG? (I'd prefer something that batch converts -- but if I can get a utility that will even allow one conversion, I could probably figure out how to use AutoHotkey or something like that to automate.)   We are expecting a large number of users to hit a Website built with IIS/.Net 4.0 that our SQL Server 2008 database server is providing data for. The database is around 2GB in size. We are contemplating increasing the MAX CONNECTION POOL to between 500 to 1000 -- to handle the estimated traffic. Two questions (1) Does anyone have any hard performance numbers indicating the kind of improvement this may provide? (2) What is the impact of hitting that MAX CONNECTION POOL number in a production enviroment?

• Ngingx max worker_connections and access log

  I'm troubleshoot an issue with my site. I'm seeing in the ngingx-error.log that the max worker_connection limit has been reached when the site went down. I'm not seeing an increase of requests during that time in the ngingx-access.log. Does that mean the mysql database had a bottleneck at that time that caused the requests to queue up? Or would it not log any requests that where made after the max worker_connection limit has been reached?

  I have custom list item renderers and editors for a List control. I need for the editor to have a greater height then the renderer, i.e., the row should expand(in height) when it goes into edit mode. However, even when the list's variableRowHeight is set to true, it doesn't do what I want: the height seems to be based on the height of the renderer only, not the editor. Is there any way to do what I want?

• Facebook Like Button (<fb:like>) Height Always 80px

  Why is the height of my Facebook Like button (technically the iframe that gets generated) always getting set to 80px? Example page is here: http://www.davidkasper.net/test.html I am using the javascript sdk and have had it work on other pages but for some reason the height will not change dynamically on this one! I can even do something like <fb:like style="height:40px"> and that will indeed set the visible height, but the iframe will still be 80px, whereas I can see it changing in the demo at http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like

  I want a layout with two columns, two divs, where the left one has fluid width and the right one has fixed width. So far so good - see jsfiddle below - however, the height of the right column must be in relation to the height of the left column. So that if I have some content in the fluid column and would resize the browser window, thereby increasing or decreasing the height of the left column, the right one should follow and getting the same height. The left- and rightmost cells (A1 and C1) must be 7px wide, and the middle cell (B1) must scale according to the width of the table. The same goes for the bottom row (A3, B3, C3). The middle row, however, needs to scale in height - in other words, it needs to be (tableheight - 14px). The left- and rightmost cells (A2, C2) need to be 7 pixels wide.   Hi I'd like to programatically increase the height allocated to a TextView, and have the activity layout redrawn accordingly (the text view has a maximum height until the user clicks it, then it takes up all height required, wrap_content). setHeight() isn't working, even coupled with invalidate() or postInvalidate(). I am able to change the contents of the TextBox with setText() but it isn't altering the existing specified height. Android 1.5 under the 1.6 SDK.

However, when I set the height in px (approximately same calculated value), it works smoothly. The width defined in % works perfectly. I need the height to be defined in % as well - due to resolution / scaling issues.

  I have a bidding table, as follows: SellID INT FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES SellItem(SellID), CusID INT FOREIGN KEY REFERENCES Customer(CusID), Amount FLOAT NOT NULL, BidTime DATETIME DEFAULT getdate() Now in my website I need to show the user the current bids; only the highest bid but without repeating the same user. SELECT CusID, Max(Amount) FROM Bid WHERE SellID = 10 GROUP BY CusID ORDER BY Max(Amount) DESC This is the best I have achieved so far. This gives the CusID of each user with the maximum bid and it is ordered ascending. But I need to get the BidTime for each result as well. When I try to put the BidTime in to the query: SELECT CusID, Max(Amount), BidTime FROM Bid WHERE SellID = 10 GROUP BY CusID ORDER BY Max(Amount) DESC I am told that "Column 'Bid.BidTime' is invalid in the select list because it is not contained in either an aggregate function or the GROUP BY clause." Thus I tried: SELECT CusID, Max(Amount), BidTime FROM Bid WHERE SellID = 10 GROUP BY CusID, BidTime ORDER BY Max(Amount) DESC But this returns all the rows. No distinction. Any suggestions on solving this issue?

  Hi everyone, I have some problems with sizing row's height in QTreeWidget. I use QStyledItemDelegate with QPlainTextEdit. During editing text in QPlainTextEdit i check for changes with a help of: rect = self.blockBoundingRect(self.firstVisibleBlock()) and if text it's height changes i need row in QTreeWidget also resizing. But i don't know how to inform TreeWidget or a Delegate about changes, i even tried to initialize editor with index, that i could use in a future, but it suddenly changes: class MyEditor(QPlainTextEdit): def __init__(self, index = None, parent=None): super(MyEditor, self).__init__(parent) self.index = index self.connect(self, SIGNAL("textChanged()"), self.setHeight) def setHeight(self): if self.index: rect = self.blockBoundingRect(self.firstVisibleBlock()) self.resize(rect.width(), rect.height()) self.emit(SIGNAL("set_height"), QSize(rect.width(), rect.height()), self.index) How can i bound editor's size changes with TreeWidget?   Using ImageMagick, how can I resize an image to have a minimum: height of 150px width of 200px and also have a maximum: height of 225px width of 275px UPDATE: In case it helps, here's a further explanation of what I'm experiencing. I have a buch of images with all different ratio dimensions. Some images have 1:5 height/width ratios. Some have 5:1 height/width ratios. So that I want to do is set that a minimum height/width size for the image but also don't want the image size to be larger than a particular size. If I need to apply white padding to an image to make it fit within my constraint so that I don't have to distort the image, I'd like to do so.

  I need to get the width and height of a WebView and pass them in the query string of the URL I am loading in the WebView. I have found a way to do this in onResume(). Since the width and height are not calculated at this point, I post a Runnable to the WebView to be queued for after the UI loads. Here's my problem: when the orientation changes, I am handling it in onConfigurationChanged. When I try to post a Runnable in onConfigurationChanged to the WebView, the WebView's width and height end up being the old orientation's width and height. At what point can I intercept the new width and height after orientation change?

• Interpolating height for a point inside a grid based on a discrete height function.

  Hi, I have been wracking my brain to come up with a solution to this problem. I have a lookup table that returns height values for various points (x,z) on the grid. For instance I can calculate the height at A, B, C and D in Figure 1. However, I am looking for a way to interpolate the height at P (which has a known (x,z)). The lookup table only has values at the grid intervals, and P lies between these intervals. I am trying to calculate values s and t such that: A'(s) = A + s(C-A) B'(t) = B + t(P-B) I would then use the these two equations to find the intersection point of B'(t) with A'(s) to find a point X on the line A-C. With this I can calculate the height at this point X and with that the height at point P. My issue lies in calculating the values for s and t. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
