  • Need help with height 100% layout

    I am trying to build the following layout (file browser type of thing, left block would contain a list of files, right panel would contain selected file content): <------------- MENU -------------------> <--- LEFT ----><------- RIGHT ---------> <--- LEFT ----><------- RIGHT ---------> <--- LEFT ----><------- RIGHT ---------> <--- LEFT ----><------- RIGHT ---------> <--- LEFT ----><------- RIGHT ---------> <--- LEFT ----><------- RIGHT ---------> The page itself shouldn't have any scrollbars. Menu has 100% width and fixed height Left block has fixed width and 100% height. If content is taller - scroll bar appears inside the left block only. Right block contains <pre> element and takes the remaining width and 100% height. If content is wider or taller - scrollbar appears inside the right block only. This is what I have so far: http://jsbin.com/uqegi4/3/edit The problem is fixed menu height messes up 100% height calculation and all scrollbars inside left and right blocks appear at wrong time. I don't care about cross browser compatibility, only Chrome matters. Thanks.

  • Equal height divs with footer always at bottom of tallest div

    I was wondering if this were possible, and if it is the best way to go about this: example image (since I'm not allowed to post pics yet ^^) So, not only does each column have to be of equal height, but each column also has its own individual footer. I saw this post httx://stackoverflow.com/questions/1347366/div-at-bottom-of-window-and-adaptable-height-div (I also can't post more than one link....) - how could I rework this technique to apply to the bottom of the divs and not the bottom of the window? *edit - each column will have content that will constantly change and be of variable height. I'm thinking I could just figure out the equal height columns first, then just absolute position a footer div within those columns. Does its parent div then have to be position: relative?

    Hi All, I have a html table and I am trying to have it span the entire page height. For some reason I am not able to get this to work. I have set the html, body and table height to be 100%, but the table still does not occupy the entire 100%. Heres the code.     I am using a custum UITableViewCell which has some labels, buttons and imageviews to be displayed. There is one label in the cell whose text is a NSString object and the length of string could be variable. Due to this, I cannot set a constant height to the cell in the UITableViews: heightForCellAtIndex method. The cell's height depends on the labels height which can be determined using the NSStrings sizeWithFont method. I tried using it, but it looks like I'm going wrong somewhere. How can it be fixed?     I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing wrong, and I can't figure out how to Google it because a common mistake is very prevalent. I have the parent's height explicitly set, but I can't get #main-sub-content 's height to 100%.     We have an application that takes snapshots of certain web pages. It's quite tightly integrated into the code, so we're not ready to incorporate another library. But we don't have a way of being able to calculate the web page height, so we end up taking snaps of 8000px height. Which is now proving troublesome when inserted into PDFs. Is there a way to find the height of the webpage in PHP?

    Hi, I have a ListView. I populate it with 8 items, that's all that fits vertically on the G1. Some of my users are saying the Droid has a taller screen height, and so I can probably add one or two more items to the ListView to take up the additional space provided. How could I measure the available height the screen offers at startup, before the UI is displayed? If I see the height can fit more than 8 items, I'd like to add one or two more rows, Thanks

    hi here's my code (a bit simplified) <div id="wrapper" style="width:960px; margin:0 auto; position: relative;"> <img src="img/bg/wrapper.jpg" alt="" width="960" id="bg" style="position:absolute; top:0; left:0; z-index:0; height:100%;" /> <some more div></div> </div> here's my problem: if i give my image 100% height it works correctly in firefox/chrome (it stretches all allong its wrapper) while in explorer it inherits the page height!! causing an overheighted page. I tried with height=inherit but in firefox/chrome image doesn't stretch at all, in explorer the problem remains the same. Height=auto: the same as above in F/C + explorer doesn't stretch too. AFAIK this is done using RSS in /etc/security/limits.conf but the process called gnome-panel apparently is using 618436 kB of VmRSS.   • Converting ntext to nvcharmax(max) - Getting around size limitation

    Hi all, I'm trying to change an existing SQL NText column to nvcharmax(max), and encountering an error on the size limit. There's a large amount of existing data, some of which is more than the 8k limit, I believe. We're looking to convert this, so that the field is searchable in LINQ. The 2x SQL statements I've tried are: update Table set dataNVarChar = convert(nvarchar(max), dataNtext) where dataNtext is not null update Table set dataNVarChar = cast(dataNtext as nvarchar(max)) where dataNtext is not null And the error I get is: Cannot create a row of size 8086 which is greater than the allowable maximum row size of 8060. This is using SQL Server 2008. Any help appreciated, Thanks. Update / Solution: The marked answer below is correct, and SQL 2008 can change the column to the correct data type in my situation, and there are no dramas with the LINQ-utilising application we use on top of it: alter table [TBL] alter column [COL] nvarchar(max) I've also been advised to follow it up with: update [TBL] set [COL] = [COL] Which completes the conversion by moving the data from the lob structure to the table (if the length in less than 8k), which improves performance / keeps things proper.

What I have so far: <div id='wrapper'> <div id='left'>some stuff</div> <div id='right'>more stuff</div> </div> with #frame { position: static; width: 1000px; height: auto; /* more positioning stuff */ } #left { position: absolute; width: 200px; height: 100%; } #right { position: static; margin-left: 200px; } This seems to work OK, except if the contents of #right are higher than those of #left. In this case, part of the contents of left are invisible. How can I make sure that the height of the left div is also taken into account when the needed height of #wrapper is calculated?

    in my viewcontroller's view i need to add a couple of custom UIView's, i do that in the loadView method so in my custom uiview's drawRect method i add a couple of UILabel's. in my viewcontroller's view i need to add all those custom UIView's underneath each other but i don't know what their height is sometimes 20px, 40px, 60px, depending on the outcome of the drawRect so when i init my custom UIView i give it a frame height of lets say 50.. but when the drawRect is done and it's only 20, 50 is too much so i need to adjust the frame height but how can i determine what's the visible height of the custom UIView and where can i catch it in my viewcontroller when the custom uiview has finished his drawRect method is there some kind of autoresize and where do i catch it in my viewcontroller, so i can position the custom uiview right under neath each other.

  • Kubuntu - Can't move/max/min windows

    All of a sudden it seems when ever I open a window on my Kubuntu (9.10) system, the windows dock in the upper left corner and can't be moved. There is nor border on the windows, no min/max/close buttons in the upper right corner of the windows. I tried opening a term window but it seems I can't type in the window. Any ideas what might be causing this?
