• Center label instance inside VGroup in Flex

- by Jerry
Hi all I am trying to center my labels below my image inside my VGroup. The labels are align to left now and it seems like HorizontalAlign is not working on spark component. Anyone knows how to fix it? Thanks a lot. <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"> <fx:Declarations> </fx:Declarations> <s:VGroup width="800"> <mx:Image source="images/big/city1.jpg"/> <s:Label text="test1" horizontalCenter="0" /> //doesn't work....:( <s:Label text="test2" /> </s:VGroup> </s:Application>

• How is it possible to extend an SWFLoader with MXML?

- by michael-cereda
I'm currently doing the following.. Main application: " " In the Component: First Try: </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations></fx:Declarations> <mx:SWFLoader x="0" y="0" id="loader"/> </s:Group> Second Try: <s:Group xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx"> <fx:Script> [Bindable] public var source:String; </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> </fx:Declarations> <mx:SWFLoader x="0" y="0" source="{source}"/> </s:Group> But the component displays only a "Not Found" icon in both cases. Thanks

• caching previous return values of procedures in scheme

- by Brock
In Chapter 16 of "The Seasoned Schemer", the authors define a recursive procedure "depth", which returns 'pizza nested in n lists, e.g (depth 3) is (((pizza))). They then improve it as "depthM", which caches its return values using set! in the lists Ns and Rs, which together form a lookup-table, so you don't have to recurse all the way down if you reach a return value you've seen before. E.g. If I've already computed (depthM 8), when I later compute (depthM 9), I just lookup the return value of (depthM 8) and cons it onto null, instead of recursing all the way down to (depthM 0). But then they move the Ns and Rs inside the procedure, and initialize them to null with "let". Why doesn't this completely defeat the point of caching the return values? From a bit of experimentation, it appears that the Ns and Rs are being reinitialized on every call to "depthM". Am I misunderstanding their point? I guess my question is really this: Is there a way in Scheme to have lexically-scoped variables preserve their values in between calls to a procedure, like you can do in Perl 5.10 with "state" variables?

• TextArea component is null on applicationComplete event

- by Alan G.
I have a weird issue (weird because it is specific to one component) with applicationComplete in a fairly simple application. All the UI components are declared in MXML. I can access them all in applicationComplete, but not a spark.components.TextArea component, named taStatus here; it is null in the handler. MXML looks sort of like this (there are lots of other components, but nothing special) <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="710" minHeight="640" applicationComplete="onApplicationComplete(event)" width="710" height="640"> <mx:TabNavigator left="15" right="15" top="15" bottom="340" paddingTop="0"> <s:NavigatorContent label="General" width="100%" height="100%"> <s:Label x="93" y="71" text="Label" id="lblTest"/> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent label="Status" width="100%" height="100%"> <s:TextArea id="taStatus" width="100%" height="100%" text="Startup." editable="false"/> </s:NavigatorContent> </mx:TabNavigator> <fx:Script source="main.as" /> </s:Application> Here is the handler in main.as protected function onApplicationComplete(event: FlexEvent) : void { lblTest.text = 'abc789'; // OK taStatus.text = 'abc789'; // Fail } TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference. So taStatus is null... What is so special about this TextArea?

• Problem validating an XSD file: The content type of a derived type and that of its base must both be mixed or both be element-only

- by Paulo Tavares
Hi, I have following XML schema: <schema xmlns:netconf="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0" targetNamespace="urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0" ... <complexType name="dataInlineType"> <xs:complexContent> <xs:extension base="xs:anyType"/> </xs:complexContent> </complexType> <complexType name="get-config_output_type__" > <complexContent> <extension base="netconf:dataInlineType"> <sequence> <element name="data"> <complexType> <sequence> <element name="__.get-config.output.data.A__" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> </sequence> </complexType> </element> <element name="__.get-config.A__" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"/> </sequence> </extension> </complexContent> And I getting the folling error: cos-ct-extends.1.4.3.2.2.1.a: The content type of a derived type and that of its base must both be mixed or both be element-only. Type 'get-config_output_type__' is element only, but its base type is not. If I put both elements mixed="true" I get another error: cos-nonambig: WC[##any] and "urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:netconf:base:1.0":data (or elements from their substitution group) violate "Unique Particle Attribution". During validation against this schema, ambiguity would be created for those two particles. I using the Eclipse to validate my schema, so what can I do?

• Flex 4 hideEffect transition bug

- by xerious87
I'm trying to create a slide effect. Everything works fine except when the hideEffect animation is shown for the first time. The content does not become invisible when crossing the TabNavigator's border, which looks really ugly in my current project. The following simple example demonstrates the problem: <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600" backgroundColor="0xDDDDDD"> <fx:Declarations> <s:Move id="hideEffect" xTo="700" /> </fx:Declarations> <mx:TabNavigator width="500" height="300" x="100" y="0"> <s:NavigatorContent label="ONE" hideEffect="{hideEffect}"> <s:BorderContainer backgroundColor="0xFF0000" height="100" width="100"/> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent label="TWO" hideEffect="{hideEffect}"> <s:BorderContainer backgroundColor="0xFF0000" height="100" width="100"/> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent label="THREE" hideEffect="{hideEffect}"> <s:BorderContainer backgroundColor="0xFF0000" height="100" width="100"/> </s:NavigatorContent> <s:NavigatorContent label="FOUR" hideEffect="{hideEffect}"> <s:BorderContainer backgroundColor="0xFF0000" height="100" width="100"/> </s:NavigatorContent> </mx:TabNavigator> </s:Application> Screenshot: hideEffectBug Any ideas how to fix this bug?

• XPath and XML: Multiple namespaces

- by emragins
So I have a document that looks like <pre3:c> <stuff></stuff> <goes></goes> <here></here> </pre3:c> <pre3:d xmlns="uri4"> <under></under> <the></the> <tree></tree> </pre3:d> I want an xpath expression that will get me <under>. This has a namespaceURI of uri4. Right now my expression looks like: //ns:a/ns:b/pre3:d/pre4:under I have the namespace manager add 'ns' for the default namespace (uri1 in this case) and I have it defined with pre2, pre3, and pre4 for uri2, uri3, and uri4 respectively. I get the error "Expression must evaluate to a node-set." I know that the node exists. I know that everything up until the pre4:under in my xpath works fine as I use it in the rest of the document with no issues. It's the additional pre4:under that causes the error, and I'm not sure why. Any ideas? Thanks.

• Netbeans, JPA Entity Beans in seperate projects. Unknown entity bean class

- by Stu
I am working in Netbeans and have my entity beans and web services in separate projects. I include the entity beans in the web services project however the ApplicaitonConfig.java file keeps getting over written and removing the entries I make for the entity beans in the associated jar file. My question is: is it required to have both the EntityBeans and the WebServices share the same project/jar file? If not what is the appropriate way to include the entity beans which are in the jar file? <persistence version="2.1" xmlns="http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/persistence http://xmlns.jcp.org/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_2_1.xsd"> <persistence-unit name="jdbc/emrPool" transaction-type="JTA"> <provider>org.eclipse.persistence.jpa.PersistenceProvider</provider> <jta-data-source>jdbc/emrPool</jta-data-source> <exclude-unlisted-classes>false</exclude-unlisted-classes> <properties> <property name="eclipselink.ddl-generation" value="none"/> <property name="eclipselink.cache.shared.default" value="false"/> </properties> </persistence-unit> </persistence> Based on Melc's input i verified that that the transaction type is set to JTA and the jta-data-source is set to the value for the Glassfish JDBC Resource. Unfortunately the problem still persists. I have opened the WAR file and validated that the EntityBean.jar file is the latest version and is located in the WEB-INF/lib directory of the War file. I think it is tied to the fact that the entities are not being "registered" with the entity manager. However i do not know why they are not being registered.

• flex using tweenmax library

- by Nishant
Hello, I am currently using flex transition effects on state change. Is there a way I can use tweenmax library for that? Update: In the code below, I have transitions from state one to state two. In this blog series we will review an existing OpenStack setup using the Oracle OpenStack Tech Preview and explain the different network components through use cases and examples. The goal is to show how the different pieces come together and provide a bigger picture view of the network architecture in OpenStack. This can be very helpful to users making their first steps in OpenStack or anyone wishes to understand how networking works in this environment. We will go through the basics first and build the examples as we go. According to the recent Icehouse user survey and the one before it, Neutron with Open vSwitch plug-in is the most widely used network setup both in production and in POCs (in terms of number of customers) and so in this blog series we will analyze this specific OpenStack networking setup. As we know there are many options to setup OpenStack networking and while Neturon + Open vSwitch is the most popular setup there is no claim that it is either best or the most efficient option. Neutron + Open vSwitch is an example, one which provides a good starting point for anyone interested in understanding OpenStack networking. Even if you are using different kind of network setup such as different Neutron plug-in or even not using Neutron at all this will still be a good starting point to understand the network architecture in OpenStack. The setup we are using for the examples is the one used in the Oracle OpenStack Tech Preview. Installing it is simple and it would be helpful to have it as reference. In this setup we use eth2 on all servers for VM network, all VM traffic will be flowing through this interface. The Oracle OpenStack Tech Preview is using VLANs for L2 isolation to provide tenant and network isolation. The following diagram shows how we have configured our deployment: This first post is a bit long and will focus on some basic concepts in OpenStack networking. The components we will be discussing are Open vSwitch, network namespaces, Linux bridge and veth pairs. Note that this is not meant to be a comprehensive review of these components, it is meant to describe the component as much as needed to understand OpenStack network architecture. All the components described here can be further explored using other resources. Open vSwitch (OVS) In the Oracle OpenStack Tech Preview OVS is used to connect virtual machines to the physical port (in our case eth2) as shown in the deployment diagram. OVS contains bridges and ports, the OVS bridges are different from the Linux bridge (controlled by the brctl command) which are also used in this setup. To get started let’s view the OVS structure, use the following command: # ovs-vsctl show 7ec51567-ab42-49e8-906d-b854309c9edf Bridge br-int Port br-int Interface br-int type: internal Port "int-br-eth2" Interface "int-br-eth2" Bridge "br-eth2" Port "br-eth2" Interface "br-eth2" type: internal Port "eth2" Interface "eth2" Port "phy-br-eth2" Interface "phy-br-eth2" ovs_version: "1.11.0" We see a standard post deployment OVS on a compute node with two bridges and several ports hanging off of each of them. The example above is a compute node without any VMs, we can see that the physical port eth2 is connected to a bridge called “br-eth2”. We also see two ports "int-br-eth2" and "phy-br-eth2" which are actually a veth pair and form virtual wire between the two bridges, veth pairs are discussed later in this post. When a virtual machine is created a port is created on one the br-int bridge and this port is eventually connected to the virtual machine (we will discuss the exact connectivity later in the series). Here is how OVS looks after a VM was launched: # ovs-vsctl show efd98c87-dc62-422d-8f73-a68c2a14e73d Bridge br-int Port "int-br-eth2" Interface "int-br-eth2" Port br-int Interface br-int type: internal Port "qvocb64ea96-9f" tag: 1 Interface "qvocb64ea96-9f" Bridge "br-eth2" Port "phy-br-eth2" Interface "phy-br-eth2" Port "br-eth2" Interface "br-eth2" type: internal Port "eth2" Interface "eth2" ovs_version: "1.11.0" Bridge "br-int" now has a new port "qvocb64ea96-9f" which connects to the VM and tagged with VLAN 1. Every VM which will be launched will add a port on the “br-int” bridge for every network interface the VM has. Another useful command on OVS is dump-flows for example: # ovs-ofctl dump-flows br-int NXST_FLOW reply (xid=0x4): cookie=0x0, duration=735.544s, table=0, n_packets=70, n_bytes=9976, idle_age=17, priority=3,in_port=1,dl_vlan=1000 actions=mod_vlan_vid:1,NORMAL cookie=0x0, duration=76679.786s, table=0, n_packets=0, n_bytes=0, idle_age=65534, hard_age=65534, priority=2,in_port=1 actions=drop cookie=0x0, duration=76681.36s, table=0, n_packets=68, n_bytes=7950, idle_age=17, hard_age=65534, priority=1 actions=NORMAL As we see the port which is connected to the VM has the VLAN tag 1. However the port on the VM network (eth2) will be using tag 1000. OVS is modifying the vlan as the packet flow from the VM to the physical interface. In OpenStack the Open vSwitch agent takes care of programming the flows in Open vSwitch so the users do not have to deal with this at all. If you wish to learn more about how to program the Open vSwitch you can read more about it at http://openvswitch.org looking at the documentation describing the ovs-ofctl command. Network Namespaces (netns) Network namespaces is a very cool Linux feature can be used for many purposes and is heavily used in OpenStack networking. Network namespaces are isolated containers which can hold a network configuration and is not seen from outside of the namespace. A network namespace can be used to encapsulate specific network functionality or provide a network service in isolation as well as simply help to organize a complicated network setup. Using the Oracle OpenStack Tech Preview we are using the latest Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel R3 (UEK3), this kernel provides a complete support for netns. Let's see how namespaces work through couple of examples to control network namespaces we use the ip netns command: Defining a new namespace: # ip netns add my-ns # ip netns list my-ns As mentioned the namespace is an isolated container, we can perform all the normal actions in the namespace context using the exec command for example running the ifconfig command: # ip netns exec my-ns ifconfig -a lo Link encap:Local Loopback LOOPBACK MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) We can run every command in the namespace context, this is especially useful for debug using tcpdump command, we can ping or ssh or define iptables all within the namespace. Connecting the namespace to the outside world: There are various ways to connect into a namespaces and between namespaces we will focus on how this is done in OpenStack. OpenStack uses a combination of Open vSwitch and network namespaces. OVS defines the interfaces and then we can add those interfaces to namespace. So first let's add a bridge to OVS: # ovs-vsctl add-br my-bridge Now let's add a port on the OVS and make it internal: # ovs-vsctl add-port my-bridge my-port # ovs-vsctl set Interface my-port type=internal And let's connect it into the namespace: # ip link set my-port netns my-ns Looking inside the namespace: # ip netns exec my-ns ifconfig -a lo Link encap:Local Loopback LOOPBACK MTU:65536 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) my-port Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 22:04:45:E2:85:21 BROADCAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) Now we can add more ports to the OVS bridge and connect it to other namespaces or other device like physical interfaces. Neutron is using network namespaces to implement network services such as DCHP, routing, gateway, firewall, load balance and more. In the next post we will go into this in further details. Linux Bridge and veth pairs Linux bridge is used to connect the port from OVS to the VM. Every port goes from the OVS bridge to a Linux bridge and from there to the VM. The reason for using regular Linux bridges is for security groups’ enforcement. Security groups are implemented using iptables and iptables can only be applied to Linux bridges and not to OVS bridges. Veth pairs are used extensively throughout the network setup in OpenStack and are also a good tool to debug a network problem. Veth pairs are simply a virtual wire and so veths always come in pairs. Typically one side of the veth pair will connect to a bridge and the other side to another bridge or simply left as a usable interface. In this example we will create some veth pairs, connect them to bridges and test connectivity. This example is using regular Linux server and not an OpenStack node: Creating a veth pair, note that we define names for both ends: # ip link add veth0 type veth peer name veth1 # ifconfig -a . . veth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 5E:2C:E6:03:D0:17 BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) veth1 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr E6:B6:E2:6D:42:B8 BROADCAST MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) . . To make the example more meaningful this we will create the following setup: veth0 => veth1 => br-eth3 => eth3 ======> eth2 on another Linux server br-eth3 – a regular Linux bridge which will be connected to veth1 and eth3 eth3 – a physical interface with no IP on it, connected to a private network eth2 – a physical interface on the remote Linux box connected to the private network and configured with the IP of 50.50.50.1 Once we create the setup we will ping 50.50.50.1 (the remote IP) through veth0 to test that the connection is up: # brctl addbr br-eth3 # brctl addif br-eth3 eth3 # brctl addif br-eth3 veth1 # brctl show bridge name bridge id STP enabled interfaces br-eth3 8000.00505682e7f6 no eth3 veth1 # ifconfig veth0 50.50.50.50 # ping -I veth0 50.50.50.51 PING 50.50.50.51 (50.50.50.51) from 50.50.50.50 veth0: 56(84) bytes of data. 64 bytes from 50.50.50.51: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=0.454 ms 64 bytes from 50.50.50.51: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.298 ms When the naming is not as obvious as the previous example and we don't know who are the paired veth interfaces we can use the ethtool command to figure this out. The ethtool command returns an index we can look up using ip link command, for example: # ethtool -S veth1 NIC statistics: peer_ifindex: 12 # ip link . . 12: veth0: <BROADCAST,MULTICAST,UP,LOWER_UP> mtu 1500 qdisc pfifo_fast state UP qlen 1000 Summary That’s all for now, we quickly reviewed OVS, network namespaces, Linux bridges and veth pairs. These components are heavily used in the OpenStack network architecture we are exploring and understanding them well will be very useful when reviewing the different use cases. In the next post we will look at how the OpenStack network is laid out connecting the virtual machines to each other and to the external world. @RonenKofman

• The vps is running, but the domain name is down ?

- by Tom
Hi, i created a vps on vps.net and installed CentOS 5.4 x64 LAMP , i choosed the root password and the server start running, i added my domain name in the vps domain section, also i added the two name servers on where i bought the domain name. the problem is that i still can't access the domain, so i think that's because a mistake in the DNS template that is created automatically by the vps provider, here is it : TYPE | NAME | TARGET | MX PRIORITY | ACTIONS ------------------------------------------------------------------- OA @ dns1.vps.net. NS @ dns1.vps.net. NS @ dns2.vps.net. MX @ mail.www.XXXXXXX.com. 10 delete A @ 85.128.137.292 delete A www 85.128.137.292 delete A mail 85.128.137.292 delete A webmail 85.128.137.292 delete A ftp 85.128.137.292 The vps is working fine, & i can access the webmin panel via the ip, so what's wrong with my parameters? • NEC uPD720200 USB 3.0 not working on Ubuntu 12.04

- by Jagged
I've recently installed Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit on a HP Envy 15 1104tx. Most stuff appears to be working fine with the exception of the two USB3 ports (USB2 port works fine). I've read a lot of articles but so far have not been able to find a solution. I've tried adding 'pci=nomsi' to '/etc/default/grub' but this made no difference. Some articles suggest booting into Windows and upgrading the firmware on the uPD720200. Any body had any experience of this? Is there a way I can checked the firmware version of the NEC uPD720200 in Linux to see if there is an update available? • Trying to configure DNS on a Godaddy Virtual Dedicated host, Mediatemple Domain Registration

- by dclowd9901
A client of mine purchased VD hosting with Godaddy and a domain name with Mediatemple. I've never configured DNS from scratch, and I'm finding it very difficult to find any sort of explanation on how to go about it. As of right now, Mediatemple is pointing to the Godaddy's ns1.domaincontrol.com and ns2.domaincontrol.com nameservers. The VD hosting on Godaddy (via their Simple Control Panel) has options to "Add a new domain", which brings you through a wizard of sorts that asks you if the domain has already been registered (yes), what it is (dclowd9901.com for this example), create a system username and password for it (with checkboxes for SSH and FTP access), which level of user can administer it, and whether a mail account should be setup. When complete, it also creates a zone file. In this zone file, the Primary nameserver is ns1.dclowd9901.com; the records are as follow (where 12.23.12.34 is the presumed host): @ A 12.23.12.34 @ NS ns1 @ NS ns2 ns1 A 12.23.12.34 ns2 A 12.23.12.34 @ MX mail www A 12.23.12.34 ftp A 12.23.12.34 ssh A 12.23.12.34 mail A 12.23.12.34 If anyone can shed any light on this for me, explain to me the interactions between the registrar and the host and so on, I'd be very grateful. Thanks in advance for the help.

• redirect traffic to www.example.com through DNS from example.com

- by ChrisMuench
Hello, I have a bit of a unique problem. for the domain (example.com) I want people to go to www.example.com however I'm also throwing GSLB into the mix. for GSLB the devices(one in each datacenter) need to be the nameserver for portion of the domain that they are going to answer for(www.example.com) so I know I can make the NS record of www.example.com just fine and have it point to each GSLB device. However that only helps for www.example.com NOT example.com. I don't want to make my root NS of example.com my GSLB as my enterprise managed DNS provider does an excellent job of all DNS stuff. any ideas?

(2012052100 86400 3600 3600000 300) IN NS ns100.ovh.net. IN NS dns100.ovh.net. IN MX 1 mail.gestixi.com. IN A 91.121.39.211 * IN CNAME gestixi.com. www IN CNAME gestixi.com. The problem is that when I check my DNS, I get this error: MX records shall not point to an alias defined by a CNAME Because of this error, it look like I can't send mails from some internet providers.

• Providing DNS redirection to honeypot server for known bad domains

- by syn-
Currently running BIND on RHEL 5.4 and am looking for a more efficient manner of providing DNS redirection to a honeypot server for a large (30,000+) list of forbidden domains. Our current solution for this requirement is to include a file containing a zone master declaration for each blocked domain in named.conf. Subsequently, each of these zone declarations point to the same zone file, which resolves all hosts in that domain to our honeypot servers. ...basically this allows us to capture any "phone home" attempts by malware that may infiltrate the internal systems. The problem with this configuration is the large amount of time taken to load all 30,000+ domains as well as management of the domain list configuration file itself... if any errors creep into this file, the BIND server will fail to start, thereby making automation of the process a little frightening. So I'm looking for something more efficient and potentially less error prone. named.conf entry: include "blackholes.conf"; blackholes.conf entry example: zone "bad-domain.com" IN { type master; file "/var/named/blackhole.zone"; allow-query { any; }; notify no; }; blackhole.zone entries: $INCLUDE std.soa @ NS ns1.ourdomain.com. @ NS ns2.ourdomain.com. @ NS ns3.ourdomain.com. IN A 192.168.0.99 * IN A 192.168.0.99

• Making application behind reverse proxy aware of https

- by akaIDIOT
https in tomcat being the hassel it is, I've been trying to get an Axis2 webapp to work behind a reverse proxy for ages now, can't seem to get it to work. The proxying itself works like a charm, but the app fails to generate 'links' (or ports as it concerns SOAP) using https. It would seem I need some way to let Axis2 know it is being accessed through https, even though the actual transport to it is done over http (proxied from localhost). The nginx config that proxies https to localhost:8080: server { listen 443; server_name localhost; ssl on; ssl_certificate /path/to/.pem ssl_certificate_key /path/to/.key; ssl_session_timeout 5m; ssl_protocols SSLv3 TLSv1; ssl_ciphers ALL:!ADH:!EXPORT56:RC4+RSA:+HIGH:+MEDIUM:+LOW:+SSLv3:+EXP; ssl_prefer_server_ciphers on; location / { # force some http-headers (avoid confusing tomcat) proxy_set_header X-Real-IP $remote_addr; proxy_set_header Host $http_host; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-For $proxy_add_x_forwarded_for; proxy_set_header X-Forwarded-Proto https; # pass requests to local tomcat server listening on default port 8080 proxy_pass http://localhost:8080; } } The proxy itself works fine, the info pages of the webapp work. The problem lies in the ports generated in the .wsdl: <wsdl:service name="WebService"> <wsdl:port name="WebServiceHttpSoap11Endpoint" binding="ns:WebServiceSoap11Binding"> <soap:address location="http://10.10.3.96/axis2/services/WebService.WebServiceHttpSoap11Endpoint/"/> </wsdl:port> <wsdl:port name="WebServiceHttpSoap12Endpoint" binding="ns:WebServiceSoap12Binding"> <soap12:address location="http://10.10.3.96/axis2/services/WebService.WebServiceHttpSoap12Endpoint/"/> </wsdl:port> <wsdl:port name="WebServiceHttpEndpoint" binding="ns:WebServiceHttpBinding"> <http:address location="http://10.10.3.96/axis2/services/WebService.WebServiceHttpEndpoint/"/> </wsdl:port> </wsdl:service> The Host header does its job; it shows 10.10.3.96 in stead of localhost, but as the snippet shows: it says http:// in front of it in stead of https://. My client app can't deal with this... Adding proxyPort and proxyName to the tomcat6 server.xml in the default <Connector> doesn't help; I'm at a loss on how to get this to work properly.

• How can i control how much Authority RRs a DNS answer returns ?

- by Benoît
Hello, i quite don't understand Authority RRs. Using dig to resolve some random A records, my caching DNS server sometimes also return Authority RRs and sometimes not. The number and the type of the returned Authority RRs also vary a lot. What does control whether Authority RRs are returned or not on a standard client query ? Is it a client or server setting ? What does control how many Authoriy RRs are returned ? What does control of the type of the Authority RRs records returned ? Sometimes it's multiple NS, sometimes it's a SOA. It's also often comes with Additional RRs of type A about the Authority RRs NS returned. I'm really looking for a RFC or kind of describing this. Thanks.

• Hidden DNS master only sending notify to one slave

- by Rob
My hidden DNS master is only sending notifies to one of the name servers for a zone I have 3 named servers ns0,ns1 & ns2 all running bind 9.7.3.dfsg-1ubuntu4.1. When an update is processed the master (ns0) seems to behave normally. ns0 (192.168.2.50) zone domain.org/IN: sending notifies (serial 2012060703) client 192.168.2.52#42892: transfer of 'domain.org/IN': AXFR-style IXFR started: TSIG rndc-key client 192.168.2.52#42892: transfer of 'domain.org/IN': AXFR-style IXFR ended ns2 (192.168.2.52) client 192.168.2.50#3762: received notify for zone 'domain.org': TSIG 'rndc-key' zone domain.org/IN: Transfer started. transfer of 'domain.org/IN' from 192.168.2.50#53: connected using 192.168.2.52#55747 zone domain.org/IN: transferred serial 2012060704: TSIG 'rndc-key' transfer of 'domain.org/IN' from 192.168.2.50#53: Transfer completed: 1 messages, 34 records, 1028 bytes, 0.001 secs (1028000 bytes/sec) Nothing happens on ns1. I've turned up the logging level but there's no information in syslog about the actual name servers bind has sent notifications to so I guess this is something it doesn't log. I've also tried watching tcpdump, it never makes any attempt to notify ns1 only ns2 192.168.2.50.56278 > 192.168.2.52.53: [udp sum ok] 56418 notify [b2&3=0x2400] [1a] [1au] ? I was under the impression bind would automatically send notifies to all NS records on a zone, maybe it's bugged?

• DJBDNS DNSCache configuration, svscan won't start

I've been wracking my brain the last few days trying to setup DJBDNS on my server. I haven't been having too much luck. • make sure i've configured dns correctly

- by user22817
Hi, On my server with Windows Server 2008, i've added a new zone with my new domain: biografica.ro. I've added a name server for it: ns.biografica.ro and the ip of the server. Also i added two A hosts for ns.biografica.ro and www.biografica.ro. I've also defined first that name server on the site where i bought the domain and pointed it to my ip. Now, i understood that i have to wait 24-48 hours for this new domain to be available online. Question: - is this a way to check on the server that i've succesfully configured it? For instance: nslookup biografica.ro or nslookup www.biografica.ro or ping www.biografica.ro do not work locally, on the server... Can you give me an advice? Thanks.
