  I'm starting a new BREW project, and I'd like to compile with Warning Level 4 (/W4) to keep the application code nice and clean. The problem is that the BREW headers themselves don't compile cleanly with /W4. In gcc you can differentiate between application and system headers by using -I and -isystem, and then by default gcc doesn't report any compilation warnings in system headers. Is there an equivalent mechanism in Visual C++?

• Sendmail not working from local PHP when headers not specified

  Hi. I'm having trouble getting my local XAMPP server to send emails via my remote SMTP server. In PHP, if I put: $headers = "From: [email protected]\r\n"; mail('[email protected]', 'test', '', $headers); Then this works. However, if I don't specify the header, ie.: mail('[email protected]', 'test', ''); Then this fails. The sendmail.log file says: smtpstatus=554 smtpmsg='554 Message refused.' errormsg='the server did not accept the mail' exitcode=EX_UNAVAILABLE I've tried changing my sendmail command in my php.ini to: sendmail_path = "C:/xampp/sendmail/sendmail.exe -t -f [email protected]" but this doesn't work either. Thanks for any help with this, Dan. ps. this is on windows.

  I sent a mail from my machine relayed through a public mail server to my gmail account using smtp on telnet. now when i select show original on for that mail in my gmail account. I see several headers just before the body of my mail. X-TM-AS-Product-Ver: X-TM-AS-Result: X-imss-scan-details: X-TM-AS-User-Approved-Sender: X-TM-AS-User-Blocked-Sender: Are these headers being added by gmail or my mail server. How do I find out. Is this because of the process described in Section 3.8.1 of this rfc.

  On occasion, a company receives eMail with two header fields (“Received” and “From”) containing data that contradict each other drastically. Should they not expect their anti-spam system to flag or block items with contradictions in these fields? Should I write a utility to scan incoming eMail for such conflicts, or look more closely at their spam filtering to block this kind of eMail? Their eMail system is Hosted Exchange on MS-365. My central question is, where specifically do I look in MS-365 to get this type of conflicted eMail blocked?

• Premature end of script headers

  I often get a "premature end of script headers" error in my apache log which results to an internal 500 error. I understand what the error message means - that my application did not give the browser the headers it needs (and maybe nothing at all), but the odd thing is that this does not happen all the time. It actually usually happens the first few times I go to my website after a deploy. Could this be a memory issue? Does anyone know how to trouble shoot this? My apache log isn't really telling me anything. I am running a ruby site using the rails framework on ubuntu hardy. thank you!

  I just upgraded my MacBook Pro to Mavericks and my local Ruby on Rails development environment isn't running straight off the bat, when I visit localhost I see It works! and remembered I needed to start Phusion Passenger, so when I run passenger start it checks all the requisites and fails when it gets to the PCRE Development Headers: * Checking for PCRE development headers... Found: no It tells me to go to http://www.pcre.org/ to download them so I downloaded 8.33 from here which went to my Downloads folder, so I unzipped it, cd'd to the folder and ran: ./configure make make install Then cd'd back to my rails app directory on my Desktop and re-ran passenger start but it's still the same. Tried a new Terminal window but that didn't make any difference. I must have done this before to get my dev environment working but can't seem to solve it this time. I also tried brew install pcre but it says Warning: pcre-8.33 already installed.

I get the following error: checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.0.2) (headers and libraries) not found. Please check your installation! So I install the following package thinking this would solve the problem. sudo apt-get install libqt4-dev I was thinking that the libqt4-dev would install the headers and libraries.   I am trying to download a file via a basic socket connection, using a HTTP GET request. So, I have to specify how many bytes of data coming in I have to read from the socket. However, I am having trouble deciding the amount of data (say, in bytes) the server would reply back with. I know that there is a "Content-Length" field in the reply sent by server, but that gives me the size of the actual data (without the http headers). Is there a way to get the exact size of HTTP headers sent by the server or an estimation is required? (I am doing this for downloading on a mobile network, where every bit of data matters in terms of time and money, so I don't wish to make an unnecessary larger estimate of the header size.)

  OK, this might be a really stupid question, but... I'm building a web app that utilises websockets. There's fairly rapid messaging going on, so I've been taking a look at the network traffic with wireshark, to see if there's any way of reducing the amount of data we are sending over the wire, and hence costs. A typical message has approx 150 byte data payload, and according to wireshark the lower layer stuff takes up about: Ethernet: 14 bytes IP: 20 Bytes TCP: 20 Bytes My question is, are these network headers included in data transfer calculations? What about TCP ACK messages? (another 54 bytes according to wireshark) This may seem petty, but because we have so much messaging going on, and because the payload is a similar size to these headers, it's significant.

  Is there any GUI for viewing Apache headers which are being served by a chain of Reverse Proxy Servers. I have a cloud which uses a few Proxy Servers in between the client and actual server which has to serve the original request. All servers are Unix Servers. And if there is a problem which I do not get a clue to then to be able to post them here downloading and doing an ftp of those headers with all the logs , loging in each time to each proxy server and Opening the browser and exporting the X display to some remote server each time from the chain and then observing HTTP_RESPONSES and checking the request from each of those servers and then posting log with configuration and response takes at least 2-3 hours to type an email. Is there a shorter way to do so?

  I am getting lot of errors for HttpRequestValidationException in my event log. Is it possible to HTMLEncode all the inputs from override of ProcessRequest on web page. I have tried this but it gives context.Request.InputStream.CanWrite == false always. • Word 2010 header "different first page" option does not work if you select the same built-in header preset?

  I have a three page Word 2010 document. I have set a header on the first page and marked the "different first page" option to make the follow page headers different. It works as expected so long as I don't select the same built-in header preset for the following pages. Here's what I am doing: Check mark different first page. Make the header for the first page using Alphabet preset. Attempt to make the header for the following pages by starting with the same Alphabet preset. I only want to change the text of the following headers but still want the same graphical effects. Click off the header into the body of the document. Upon doing this the headers on the first page are updated to the ones I just made for the following pages. I don't I am doing something wrong because I can choose a different header preset and it will work as expected. If I select the same preset, however, it updates all headers, whether the "different on first page" is selected or not. If this is repeatable on others' computers the I would say it's a word bug. If not then please help me figure out how to get this working right.

  I have been referred to here that it might be of better help, I've got a processing file which handles the user sent data, before that, however, it compares the input from client to the expected values to ensure no client-side data change. I can say I don't know lot about HTTP status codes, but I have made up some research on it, and to choose which one is the best for unexpected input handling. So I came up with: 400 Bad Request: The request cannot be fulfilled due to bad syntax 417 Expectation Failed: The server cannot meet the requirements of the Expect request-header field Now, I cannot be really sure which one to use, I have seen 400 Bad Request being used alot, however, whatI get from explanation is that the error is due to an unexistent request rather than an illegal input. On the other side 417 Expectation Failed seems to just fit for my use, however, I have never seen or experimented this header status before. I need your experience and opinions, thanks alot!   Which is the best place to request Ubuntu for a minor improvement? My request feature is this : In Ubuntu dash when I search for "Upd" it gives me update manager and some other files. Now when I click enter by default the first entry will be selected. Can we make this a slightly better experience by highlighting the first item in search results which will be selected by default if we press enter - Just like in Gnome shell Search for upd in unity dash Search for upd in gnome-shell If you notice, update manager is highlighted by default in gnome shell and appears more intuitive. Can we implement the same in Unity ? Sorry for posting this in askubuntu. I just wanted to know which is the best place to discuss this. Thanks

  Up to ASP.NET 3.5 Request Validation is enabled by default. In order to to disable this for a page you needed to set the ValidationRequest property in the page directive to false. This is no longer the default case in ASP.NET 4.0. If you want to use this behaviour you need to add the follwing setting in web.config  <httpRuntime requestValidationMode="2.0" /> Of course you need to check all input in the page for XSS or other malicious input if you set the pages request validation to false.

  An alternative way to request read reciepts Sometime or other we use messaging namespaces like System.Net.Mail or System.Web.Mail to send emails from our applications. When we would need to include headers to request delivery or return reciepts (often called as Message Disposition Notifications) we lock ourselves to the limitation that not all email servers/email clients can satisfy this. We can enhance this border a little now, thanks to a new innovation I discovered from Gawab. It embeds a small invisible image of 1x1 dimension and the image source reads as recieptimg.php?id=2323425324. When this image is requested by the web browser or email client, the serverside handler does a smart mapping based on the ID to indicate that the message was read. We call them as 'Web Bugs'. But wait it is not a fool proof solution since spammers misuse this technique to confirm activeness of an email address and most of the email clients suppress inline images for security reasons. I just thought anyway would share this observation for the benefit of others.

  I'm making a website for a small hotel in php. The hotel owners want a reservation system that uses paypal. They want people to see a calendar and choose a date to make a reservation. If the day has vacancy, they want the user to request booking a room. This would then require the hotel owner to accept the purchase. I have not worked on a project that has this "request to purchase" method of buying with paypal. Is this possible? Does anyone know of an open php system that handles this? THANKS :)

  Today , I try to write a Silverlight app that talks to SharePoint 2010 using the REST API.However after deploy the silverlight app and run the code , I got the following error.In order to fix this I need to make the target framework of your caller application to 4.0,in this case I need to use Silverlight 4.0 instead 3.0.After I have done that and redeploy the solution to the SharePoint.It works like a charm.   Exceptions details: System.Data.Services.Client.DataServiceQueryException: An error occurred while processing this request. Request version ’1.0′ is too low for the response. The lowest supported version is ’2.0′. • Google Analytics Request URI to Event advanced filter

  I have a query string attached to a Request URI. Whilst I can see this data within the pages report and it works, I was thinking about setting up an advanced filter to convert the request URI to an Event, with the hope this would clean up my pages report and sit this query with related events in my data. I can see in advanced filters that this is possible, but seems limited to specifying a single event area, so Cat, action or Label, not all 3. Does any one know how I could set up an advanced filter to find any URIs that contain a specific query string, say example below. www.example.com?querystring=123 and convert this into an event, where I can set the Cat, action and label.

• WCF - (504) The server did not return a response for this request.

  I have a JSONP WCF service,using back end as MySql.It is working properly when i run it locally with visual studio. Now we have hosted it in Windows Server 2003. Now there is very strange problem occurring.. When I do a request with fiddler which does not require much processing internally, it gives me result 200 OK with desired output as response, But when I do a request which requires some internal data processing, it gives me 504 error(gateway time out error). • Why is my AJAX request hanging after running for a while?

  My AJAX calls from a page I wrote is hanging after an indeterminate number of calls. The page makes a request after a preset amount of time (currently 5 seconds) gets data from my server then waits the amount of time again. When I put the following as my AJAX Request: myAjax = new Ajax.Request( url, { method: 'get', asynchronous: true, url: url, parameters: querystring, onInteractive: document.getElementById('meh').innerHTML='Interactive', onSuccess: processXML }); The div with the id "meh" will get the word Interactive written to it, but the Success condition never gets executed (same if onSuccess is replaced with onComplete). So why is my code doing this? Thanks.

• What does this error mean in my IIS7 Failed Request Tracing report?

  Hi folks, when I attempt to goto any page in my web application (i'm migrating the code from an asp.net web site to web application, and now testing it) .. i keep getting some not authenticated error(s) . So, i've turned on FREB and this is what it says... I'm not sure what that means? Secondly, i've also made sure that my site (or at least the default document which has been setup to be default.aspx) has anonymous on and the rest off.   Hi, I'm wondering if nginx can "fork" a request. Let's imagine config: upstream backend { server localhost:8080; ... more servers here } server { location /myloc { FORK-REQUEST http://my-other-url:3135/something proxy_pass http://backend; } } I would like nginx to send a copy of request to the url specified by FORK-REQUEST and after that to load balance it with backend servers and return the response to the client. As I don't need the response from FORK-REQUEST it would be best if this request was async so normal prcessing doesn't have to wait. Is a scenario like this possible?

• Uploading file > 1 MB on Django admin gives 400 Bad Request response.

  I have a small Django (1.2.x) project deployed on Apache (2.x) via mod_wsgi (2.x). In the admin, if I upload a file < 1MB, I can get it through; however, for a file, say, 1.2MB in size, I get a 400 response from the server with "Error 400" in the body only. I am wondering why this is happening. As far as I can see, there is no LimitRequestBody set in Apache configuration. I have tried uploading with several browsers including: Firefox, Chrome, and Safari. In the log file for Apache, there is apparently no entry for requests that gave the 400 error response. This is strange. I should point out that the scenario where this is happening is thus: The project in question is deployed on two identical Apache servers (completely identical setup) that are behind a load balancer. On my development setup, of course, the problem does not surface. Any help with this will be very much appreciated.
