    I easily can broadcast my webcam with VLC using command lines like this (I use Windows): "C:\Program Files (x86)\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" -vvv -I --dshow-vdev="Logitech QuickCam Express / Go" dshow:// --sout When I paste command into CMD and hit enter it starts streaming (all is fine - I can play it). How can I now for example add brightness or any other filter to that stream from the commandline?

If I say to windows "play .vlm file with vlc" it plays correctly starts server where I need and streams data. but how to do such thing manulay from cmd (so we suppouse we can call vlc.exe by vlc and we are now in folder with vlc.exe and vlcConfig.vlm file)

  • 12.10 unable to install or even run from Live CD with nVidia GTX 580

    I've used Ubuntu in the past (set up as web server, etc over in Iraq), so I'm not a 100% Linux Noob, however, I'm running into a brick wall here. I've got a machine I built when I got back to the US earlier this year, running Windows 7 Ultimate on it, and I've now got some free time and would like to transition over to Ubuntu full time. I've searched around in the forums, and there seems to be an issue with the nVidia graphics cards, so I've tried going to the EVGA site to see if I could find a new BIOS update for it and had no luck, so I'm back searching the forums here again and decided to just go ahead and post my question. My apologies if this is covered in another post and I was just unable to find it. I've found a few 'similar' posts, but nothing as bad as my issue. With the history aside, here is the actual detailed issue: I purchased a new SSD (Intel 520 SSD), arrived today, and I disconnect my old Windows 7 SSD. I had pre downloaded the ubuntu-12.10-desktop-amd64 earlier today and burned it to DVD. Upon inserting the Live CD into the computer and booting up, everything was fine up to the 'Run From Live CD' or 'Install Ubuntu Now' buttons. As I was sure I wanted to go ahead and make the switch, I selected the 'Install Now' from the right hand side. CD Spins up, black window pops up, and then the errors started: date/time GPU Lockup date/time Failed to idle channel 1 date/time PFIFO - playlist update failed date/time Failed to idle channel 2 date/time PFIFO - playlist update failed Thinking it might correct itself, I let it run and it would swap over to a GUI Screen that was locked up with major blurring/etc, then back to the command line with the errors. Eventually it said something along the lines of 'unknown status' and switched back to the GUI and froze. So, that's when I tried to see if I could find a BIOS upgrade for the nVidia GTX580 cards, and had no luck. So I thought, why not try to just run it from the Live CD and see if I can at least get a look at it, maybe if I could get it running try to do some sort of install from there and fix the driver issue. I rebooted, brought up the Live CD, and this time chose the left option / run from the CD. It brought me all the way in to the desktop, I saw my drives, the other icons, could move the mouse, etc for about 30 seconds and then it locked up completely. I've tried this a couple of times and get the same results every time. Hardware: Intel i7-3930K CPU @ 3.2GHz (12 CPUs) / MSI MS-7760 Motherboard / 32GB RAM / 2 x EVGA (nVidia) GeForce GTX 580 (4GB Ram each) So the question is: Is there any way to install 12.10 if you can't even get the Live CD to run (for more than 30 seconds)? My current hardware configuration is both of the GTX 580 cards have an SLI jumper on them, and I have 2 monitors on each card. (Ubuntu info obviously only shows on the main monitor from the failed installation and the attempt at running the Live CD). Perhaps opening the machine back up and removing the SLI Jumper and removing the other 3 monitors (so it only would have 1 video card with one monitor on it) would actually allow me to get 12.10 installed, then I could work on an nVidia Video Driver fix for the GTX 580, and then possibly hook up the other video card and monitors? Or is this something that they are currently aware of and may update with a future release in the next few days/weeks? Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as I can't even try to fix the issue (assuming it is the nVidia drivers) if I can't even get it to install at all.

(I know, that I can run a script after "first" login by putting it in /etc/profile file, but this script is not executed again when I choose switch user account and then immediately log in back to the same account.)

  • Get AutoHotkey Script To Run As Admin At Startup

    A few weeks back I posted some problems with running AutoHotkey (AHK) in Windows 8, and that the solution was to run your AHK script as admin.  I also showed how to have the script start automatically when you logged into Windows.  What I didn’t realize at the time though was that the method only worked because I had disabled UAC in the registry (which prevents most Metro apps from working in Windows 8, and likely isn’t acceptable for most people). So here is a Windows 8, UAC-friendly method to accomplish the same task (also works in previous versions of Windows).  The trick is to use the Task Scheduler: 1. Open the Task Scheduler (also known as “Schedule tasks” in Windows 8 Settings).   2. Create a new Basic Task. 3. Give it a name and description (something like “launch AutoHotkey script at login”), and then specify to have it run “When I log on”.  Then specify that you want it to “Start a program”, and then point it towards your AutoHotkey script.  Before you finish the wizard, check off “Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click Finish”.   4. When that Properties dialog opens up, go to the Conditions tab and make sure none of the checkboxes under the Power category are checked off; this will ensure the script still launches if you are on a laptop and not plugged into AC power.   5. Now here is the important part; To have your script “Run as admin”, on the General tab check off “Run with highest privileges”. Now your AHK script should start automatically as soon as you log into Windows; even when UAC is enabled   6. If your AHK script uses an #Include statement to include other files, you may get an error similar to this one when your task runs: “#Include file … cannot be opened. The program will exit.” The solution to this is to tell your AHK script to start in the same directory as the file that you want to include.  So you will need to edit your scheduled task’s Action to specify the Start In directory.     I have read about Virtualbox using which we can run both windows and ubuntu parallely, but it seems that for this we have to make one host and install the other one using Virtualbox in it.     I want to run a command and save its output and its exit code, in different files. Here's what i am doing: cmd.exe /C command 1> %TEMP%\output.log 2> %TEMP%\error.log && echo %ERRORLEVEL% > %TEMP%\status || echo %ERRORLEVEL% > %TEMP%\status If i don't do output redirection (into %TEMP%\output.log and/or %TEMP%\error.log), then exit code is saved just fine. However, when i run the line as shown above more than once (just get back to previous line in command prompt and rerun it), i get 0 in %TEMP%\status regardless of the real exit code. What am i missing? Or maybe there's a better way of doing this?

  • Windows Task Scheduler does not start task at next run time

    I have a Windows Server 2008 SP 2 Task Scheduler task that should run every 10 minutes. The trigger says "At 6:50 PM every day - After triggered, repeat every 10 minutes for a duration of 1 day." Looking at the Next Run Time, it says 6/18/2012 8:00 PM. However, when I let that time pass, the Next Run Time just changes to 8:10 PM but the task has not started and the Last Run Time is unchanged from yesterday. How can I get this task to run every 10 minutes when enabled no matter what. Similarly, I have other tasks that need to run on slightly different schedules: Every 30 minutes (5:30, 6:00, 6:30, etc) Every 30 minutes (5:35, 6:05, 6:35, etc) How can I define these intervals? And why does the task not start at the indicated Next Run Time?

    I have at the moment a logon.cmd script, that I'm using to map network drives to the users profile. It looks like this: ::Onboarding net use m: /delete net use m: \\BOB\onboarding ::Bookings net use n: /delete net use n: \\BOB\bookings ::Accounts net use j: /delete net use j: \\BOB\accounts It works fine up until it gets up to a folder that the current user cannot access, it then asks for a username and password instead of erroring and continuing. Notes: This very script used to work on another Samba PDC network, but I've moved it over to another server (Still Samba PDC) and now its breaking. Is there anyway for it to ignore the username/password prompt and just continue?

  • Runas command for user without password

    I want to use the runas command in CMD and from Batch files to gain elevated permissions, but I don't have an admin password on my PC because it's my home computer and I'm the only user. Every time I try to use the runas command it asks me for a password, then tells me that blank passwords are not permitted, is there any way round this? I know I can just right click and select run as administrator, but I would much rather have a command that can do it as that is not always an option, and it's just a bit of a pain. I could just be making some kind of basic mistake as I'm not hugely experienced with command prompt, but I'm not completely clueless.
