  • Building Active Record Conditions in an array - private method 'scan' called error

    Hi, I'm attempting to build a set of conditions dynamically using an array as suggested in the first answer here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1658990/one-or-more-params-in-model-find-conditions-with-ruby-on-rails. However I seem to be doing something incorrectly and I'm not sure if what I'm trying is fundamentally unsound or if I'm simply botching my syntax. I'm simplifying down to a single condition here to try to illustrate the issue as I've tried to built a simple Proof of concept along these lines before layering on the 5 different condition styles I'm contending with. This works: excluded.push 12 excluded.push 30 @allsites = Site.all(:conditions => ["id not in (?)", excluded]) This results in a private method 'scan' called error: excluded.push 12 excluded.push 30 conditionsSet << ["id not in (?)", excluded] @allsites = Site.all(:conditions => conditionsSet) Thanks for any advice. I wasn't sure if the proper thing was to put this as a followup item to the related question/answers I noted at the top. Since I've got a problem not an answer. If there is a better way to post this related to the existing post please let me know.

  • how to convert avi (xvid) to mkv or mp4 (h264)

    Very noob when it comes to video. I'm trying to make sense of what I"m finding via Google... but its mostly Greek to me. I have a bunch of Avi files that won't play in my WD TV Play box. Mediainfo tells me they are xvid. Specs for the box show that should be fine... but digging through forums says its hit-and-miss. So I'd like to try converting them to h264 encoded MKV or mp4 files. I gather avconv is the tool, but reading the manual just has me really really confused. I tried the very basic example of: avconv -i file.avi -c copy file.mp4 it took less than 4 seconds. And it worked... sort of. It "played" in that something came up on the screen... but there was horrible artifacting and scenes would just sort of melt into each other. I want to preserve quality if possible. I'm not concerned about file size. I'm not terribly concerned with the time it takes either, provided I can do them in a batch. Can someone familiar with the process please give me a command with the options? Thank you for your help. For conversion I could use s = (char)s; as the next line, but is it possible to implement the same by subtracting something from s ?

  • Converting from mp4 to Xvid avi using avconv?

    I normally use avidemux to convert mp4s to Xvid AVI for my Philips Streamium SLM5500. Normally I select MPEG-4 ASP (Xvid) at Two Pass with an average bitrate f 1500kb/s for video and AC3 (lav) audio and it converts correctly. However, I'm trying to using avconv so I can automate the process with a script, but when I do this the video stutters and stops playing part way through. I have a suspicion its something to do with a faulty audio conversion. The commands I'm using are as follows: avconv -y -i video.mp4 -pass 1 -vtag xvid -c:a ac3 -b:a 128k -b:v 1500k -f avi /dev/null avconv -y -i video.mp4 -pass 2 -vtag xvid -c:a ac3 -b:a 128k -b:v 1500k -f avi video.avi There is a bewildering array of arguments for avconv. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Is there a way I can script avidemux from a headless server? Disk2vhd,convert my PC to Hyper-V Virtual Machine Creating a Windows Virtual PC image from a Physical machine physical machine to virtual machine and place into VirtualBox BSOD trying to migrate Windows XP from a physical to a virtual machine http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical-to-Virtual and all other similiar questions here and several external sites too Unfortunately, don't find answer for my problem. I have an physical machine with 500GB HDD, on what is installed old Windows-2003 server with one server application. The application is like the windows itself, too old, no support for it today, haven't installation media and so on.. ;( On the HDD it is used only approx. 100MB (maybe less when will delete all unnecessary files). Want convert the the machine into the VirtualBox, and the VirtualBox should run on the same machine. Is possible to do this with the next steps? I can attach another HDD (via USB or internally) Boot an live Linux from CD, mount HDDs Run "something" on the Linux (the above wikipedia article have many pointer for the SW) for the conversion and store the image on the USB HDD - unfortunately, many of tools uses some specialty what exists in Windows-XP and above. No informations about Windows-2003 server, so what is an working solution for Windows-2003? try boot the virtual image with VirtualBox when it will run ok, remove the old installation, install Linux on the old 500GB hdd, copy the image and run.. The above should works (i hope), but the problems: i currently have only 320GB external USB hdd. (ofc, i can remove it from a box and enter it as internal HDD too) so, for the conversion I looking for the on the fly HDD shrink, so while moving the physical 500GB HDD need shrink it into smaller HDD - as i told above, only 100MB is used Exists something for this? (free) - or the only way is buying and larger 1TB hdd and using it for the conversion? Another question are: is anybody have real experience with windows-2003 conversion into VirtualBox? Looking for an answer from someone who really doing it and can figure out real pitfalls. (googling can do myself). exists here better approach for the solution?

I found a conversion utility at Lizardtech, but when I converted the doc using the lizardtech software, every page had a watermark - which rendered the converted doc virtually useless. Does anyone know where I can get a free conversion utility that does not watermark the converted doc?

    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP1), getting an unexpected 'Conversion failed' error. Not quite sure how to describe this problem, so below is a simple example. The CTE extracts the numeric portion of certain IDs using a search condition to ensure a numeric portion actually exists. The CTE is then used to find the lowest unused sequence number (kind of): CREATE TABLE IDs (ID CHAR(3) NOT NULL UNIQUE); INSERT INTO IDs (ID) VALUES ('A01'), ('A02'), ('A04'), ('ERR'); WITH ValidIDs (ID, seq) AS ( SELECT ID, CAST(RIGHT(ID, 2) AS INTEGER) FROM IDs WHERE ID LIKE 'A[0-9][0-9]' ) SELECT MIN(V1.seq) + 1 AS next_seq FROM ValidIDs AS V1 WHERE NOT EXISTS ( SELECT * FROM ValidIDs AS V2 WHERE V2.seq = V1.seq + 1 ); The error is, 'Conversion failed when converting the varchar value 'RR' to data type int.' I can't understand why the value ID = 'ERR' should be being considered for conversion because the predicate ID LIKE 'A[0-9][0-9]' should have removed the invalid row from the resultset.   • Make conversion to a native type explicit in C++

    I'm trying to write a class that implements 64-bit ints for a compiler that doesn't support long long, to be used in existing code. Basically, I should be able to have a typedef somewhere that selects whether I want to use long long or my class, and everything else should compile and work. So, I obviously need conversion constructors from int, long, etc., and the respective conversion operators (casts) to those types. This seems to cause errors with arithmetic operators. With native types, the compiler "knows" that when operator*(int, char) is called, it should promote the char to int and call operator*(int, int) (rather than casting the int to char, for example). In my case it gets confused between the various built-in operators and the ones I created. It seems to me like if I could flag the conversion operators as explicit somehow, that it would solve the issue, but as far as I can tell the explicit keyword is only for constructors (and I can't make constructors for built-in types). So is there any way of marking the casts as explicit? Or am I barking up the wrong tree here and there's another way of solving this? Or maybe I'm just doing something else wrong...

    I'm trying to convert the first page of a PDF to a JPG. I'm pretty sure I got this to work with certain PDFs, but is it really possible that certain PDFs are made incorrectly and cannot be converted?   • Reasonable automatic HTML to PDF conversion (in UNIX/Linux environment)

    Is there a way to generate PDF documents from HTML files automatically in Linux where the PDF offers some kind of reasonable level of resemblance to the input file? A command-line tool - as opposed to an interactive GUI of some kind - is key. I have tried htmldoc and some related cousins, of course. But these tools are hopelessly stone-age; htmldoc doesn't support CSS at all. You won't find a lot of HTML documents these days that don't have at least some CSS styling. I don't really care about stupid effects or minor embellishments, but the issue is that CSS is at the core of most layouts these days; not many folks are using 6 layers of nested tables anymore. So, if the conversion tool has no grasp of CSS whatsoever, it's not just a matter of "the document doesn't look quite right"; it is likely to not meet the minimum standard of usability at all. It has been suggested to me by some folks to try to use the Gecko rendering engine to generate images that can be converted to PDFs, but I have no idea how one would go about doing this, let alone easily. I have no trouble believing that there are good commercial tools that do this, but I'm really looking for an open-source package if possible, as the endeavour itself is an open-source one and doesn't pay.   • Office 365 domain federation conversion failed

    We're doing things backwards, we have an established o365 domain, with 400+ users, and are just now deploying local AD, and ADFS for SSO. Last night, after configuring my servers, I ran the powershell command convert-MSOLdomaintofederated to convert the xxx.com vanity domain to federated, it errored out with an unspecified error(Microsoft ADFS support said the error has to do with the default password settings being changed.) And when I run convert-MSOLdomaintostandard, it comes back with the domain is already standard. Also in the o365 portal it shows the domain as standard, however it is trying to process login attempts as if it were a federated domain. I've spent 5 hours total on the phone with Microsoft, and it has been escalated to their engineering department for resolution, sometime within the next few days... I need it yesterday. From what we can gather, the conversion process started, error out, changed some of the internal configurations to federated, but left the description as standard.(if that makes since). So its in a weird limbo, where its in both modes but neither at the same time. Currently, the only way to fix it is to remove the vanity domain, and re-add it. I need a way to dissociate the user accounts from xxx.com domain to allow its removal. Removal of all the users themselves is not an option.

    Hi, I want to convert a database from access to SQL Server using SSIS. I cannot convert the date/time columns of the access db. SSIS says something like: conversion between DT_Date and DT_DBTIMESTAMP is not supported. (Its translated from my German version, might be different in English version). In Access I have Date/Time column, in SQL Server I have datetime. In the dataflow chart of the SSIS I have a OLE DB source for the access db, an sql server target and a data conversion. In the data conversion I convert the columns to date[DT_DATE]. They are connected like this: AccessDB -> conversion -> SQL DB What am I doing wrong? How can I convert the Access date columns to SQL Server date columns?

  • Symantec Antivirus Corporate -- two problems

    We have a Windows network with a domain and about 50 clients. A few months ago, we installed Symantec Antivirus, Corporate Edition ver. 10.1.8.8000. There are two problems. The larger problem is that the software isn't very good at stopping viruses. In the last month, four different machines have become infected with those viruses that masquerade as antivirus software. Two machines I was able to clean with MalWareBytes. The other two were hopeless, and I had to reinstall Windows. Is there something I can do to make the Symantec product more effective? As far as I can tell, it successfully updates definitions nightly and pushes the definitions to the clients. The smaller problem is that the Symantec client applications sometimes initiate scans at random (and inappropriate) times. One of my co-workers complained to me yesterday that her computer was running very slow. I looked at the scan history and found that Symantec had scanned the computer three times during the past two days, and each time during the workday. No threats were found. Not sure why it's doing this, but I'd like it to stop. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    I'm new to WPF 3D, so I may just be missing something obvious, but how do I convert from 3D to 2D and (for a given z location) from 2D to 3D? Specifically, I need two conversion methods: Point3DToPoint - If I have an (x, y, z) coordinate in the 3D world, how do I determine the (x, y) coordinate on the projected 2D surface. Method signature: public Point Point3DToPoint(Point3D point3D) PointAndZToPoint3D - If I have an (x, y) coordinate on the projected 2D surface and a z location in the 3D world, how do I determine the intersecting (x, y, z) coordinate in the 3D world? Method signature: public Point3D PointAndZToPoint3D(Point point, double z) I'd like the 2D coordinate to be the location measured from the upper-left corner of Viewport3D and the 3D coordinate to be the location relative to the origin (0, 0, 0) of the 3D world. Note 1: I found this related question, but it only addresses conversion from 3D to 2D (not the reverse), and I'm not sure if the answers are up-to-date. Note 2: I'm currently using .NET 3.5, but if there are improvements in .NET 4.0 that would help me, please let me know.

    A while ago I posted a message about optimizing a query in MySQL. I have since ported the data and query to PostgreSQL, but now PostgreSQL has the same problem. The solution in MySQL was to force the optimizer to not optimize using STRAIGHT_JOIN. PostgreSQL offers no such option.
