  • jZip isn't integrating with Windows 7 shell

    I installed jZip in my new windows 7 64 bit OS. but it doesn't seem to integrate with the shell. It doesn't appear in the right click menu on any file(not even zip files). To zip a file I have to open jZip go to file-new and browse for the files and to extract compressed files I have to open the file in jZip then click on extract, there is no right click menu integration what so ever, although It used to have when I had jZip on the Windows 7 RC. I reinstalled checking the settings incase I made a mistake but I checked shell integration while installation. Don't know what it wrong? anyone know how I should solve this. Help..? Thanks!

  • Alternative shell apps for OS X

    This might sound ridiculous, but my eyes are tired of looking at the crappy font rendering in OS X's Terminal.app, is there anything you guys recommend? I know it's like one of those things that you can easily say, "It's shell! what more can you ask for!" but really, all these great methods for rendering fonts and anti-aliasing, and we developers haven't even integrated that into our most trusty tool... at least that I know of. Anyhow, let's discus shell alternatives, thoughts?

    Hello, I am looking for a tool to keep a task alive (restarting if necessary) for a specified amount of time (in seconds), and then kill it and stop. For example: keep_for 3600 rsync foo bar:faz should for try to synchronize a directory (restarting rsync in case of f.e. dropped connection), but explicitly kill rsync and stop respawning it after an hour. I tried to write a shell script for that, but it was surprisingly difficult to write, with lots of edge cases (like child process not getting killed, or shell escaping issues). So... maybe there already is a tool for that?

  • something strange about Win-XP's command shell

    I wrote the following command in windows XP's command shell and something strange happened: C:\Folder1> copy sample.txt : Because of my typing mistake, I wrote ":" instead of "D:" ... but it copied the sample.txt to somewhere I cant find! I searched my whole HDD for sample.txt but the only instance of this file is the original one which is in C:\Folder1. Do you know where ":" path actually is in Win-XP command shell? You might say ":" is current path and the file has been copied onto itself but look at this: If you run that command for the first time, this will be the result: 1 file copied. but the next time you run that command it will ask you: overwrite sample.txt? (yes/no/all) So if it were writing the file onto itself, both results would have to be the same but they aren't. Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Shell script only executes partially when run with CRON

    I've written a shell script that does the following: Retrieve mail from a POP3 account (using GetMail) Save a copy of that email to S3 (using AWS CLI) Email me the filesize of the email The script runs fine manually, and technically runs from CRON, but it only seems to be sending the email. The getmail and S3 bits don't seem to run. Everything I've read seems to hammer home the message that I need to be careful about relative paths and the like when using CRON, but I think I'm using absolute paths everywhere I need to be, so I'm stumped as to what the issue could be.     I try to run following command from shell script: svn checkout http://url/ --username user --password password --non-interactive --no-auth-cache . It fails always with following error: svn: OPTIONS of 'http://url/': authorization failed: Could not authenticate to server: rejected Basic challenge (http://url) Here the call out of my script: $(svn $command $url $auth --non-interactive --no-auth-cache .) Running the same command from the terminal works fine. What is the difference between running from shell script and terminal? (Creation of separate instances for each process versus in process shell. Also version dependency) Frankly speaking, I am totally new to shell. Is there a book available, that will treat these topics; both through managed code and unmanaged code (but mostly towards managed code)?   • Gnome-Shell panel disappeared - How to get it back?

    I am on Gnome-Shell and using Ubuntu 11.10. The problem is after a recent update and also after installing a few extensions, when I logged in to Gnome Shell, I can't find the top panel or AWN. Only the wallpaper is showing and then Conky is displaying. It also seems to me that for some reason the display effects are not working and that is why AWN is not showing. Need your help to get back the panel.

  • Eclipse standard warning/error overlay icons

    I'm writing an Eclipse plug-in... In my custom label decorator, I want to overlay a warning icon, and I'd like to use the standard one used by eclipse (the little yellow triangle). How can I get an image descriptor of this icon? I tried using workbench.getSharedImages().getImageDescriptor(ISharedImages .IMG_DEC_FIELD_WARNING), since that ID seems to match what I'm looking for, but the shared images collection doesn't actually have that image in it (so I just get a null returned). Is there some other shared image collection that I should be looking at?

  • Icons in Windows Form Applications (VS2008)

    This is yet another question about .ico files. I have read through many pages trying to figure this out but I am unable to. When I go to Properties - Application of my Windows Form Application there is a place for me to pick the icon for my application. I have made a 32x32 icon and it takes it just fine, but the image is grainy when it is applied to my .exe file, like it is a picture that has been expanded more than it should have. 1.) Why is this? 2.) Is there any .ico file size other than 32x32 than a Windows Form Application can accept? I have tried 48x48 but it doesn't like that. I just want my .exe file to look nice!

  • Run shell script using fabric and piping script text to shell's stdin

    Is there a way to execute a multi-line shell script by piping it to the remote shell's standard input in fabric? Or must I always write it to the remote filesystem, then run it, then delete it? I like sending to stdin as it avoids the temporary file. If there's no fabric API (and it seems like there is not based on my research), presumably I can just use the ssh module directly. Basically I wish fabric.api.run was not limited to a 1-line command that gets passed to the shell as a command line argument, but instead would take a full multi-line script and write it to the remote shell's standard input.

    I'm developing an iPad application that will be distributed "in-house" ie only inside enterprise. They asked me if i can produce 2 different releases of the same application to be installed on the same iPad. The first one will communicate with a production server while the second will use a sandbox server and will be used by user to learn the system. Server url will be changed in app settings. They told me to differentiate these releases by icon and title (and also, of course, by title in navigation bar). What's the best way to get this goal avoiding duplication of the project?

  • Open an Emacs buffer when a command tries to open an editor in shell-mode

    I like to use Emacs' shell mode, but it has a few deficiencies. One of those is that it's not smart enough to open a new buffer when a shell command tries to invoke an editor. For example with the environment variable VISUAL set to vim I get the following from svn propedit: $ svn propedit svn:externals . "svn-prop.tmp" 2L, 149C[1;1H ~ [4;1H~ [5;1H~ [6;1H~ [7;1H~ ... (It may be hard to tell from the representation, but it's a horrible, ugly mess.) With VISUAL set to "emacs -nw", I get $ svn propedit svn:externals . emacs: Terminal type "dumb" is not powerful enough to run Emacs. It lacks the ability to position the cursor. If that is not the actual type of terminal you have, use the Bourne shell command `TERM=... export TERM' (C-shell: `setenv TERM ...') to specify the correct type. It may be necessary to do `unset TERMINFO' (C-shell: `unsetenv TERMINFO') as well.svn: system('emacs -nw svn-prop.tmp') returned 256 (It works with VISUAL set to just emacs, but only from inside an Emacs X window, not inside a terminal session.) Is there a way to get shell mode to do the right thing here and open up a new buffer on behalf of the command line process?

As you can see, they look terrible compared to the nicer UI icons to the right (volume, wifi, battery).     Environment: Ubuntu 11.10 I have a Java application as a jar file. I have created a batch file that contains the following line: java -jar ~/MyApp.jar When I execute this batch file, the Java application works as expected. To create a desktop link, I copied this batch file into my "Desktop" folder. This results in an icon appearing on the desktop. However, the icon shows "Java" on it. I would like to associate a different icon to this desktop link. Would appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction.

    I just discovered that if Windows Explorer is unpinned from my taskbar it displays the icon of the currently active folder. This is what I see if it's pinned But if it's unpinned I see the current icon. Downloads: Documents: C: I really like seeing the "correct" icon, and I've noticed this also applies to other programs that have varying icons. Is there a way I can have explorer pinned, but to see the icons as though it's unpinned?
