• Exim4 Disable local delivery?

  Hey all, I'm running exim4 as my MTA and it works great to send emails to outside emails other than my hostname. When I send an email to my gmail via command line (sendmail [email protected], etc...) it works fine. When I send an email to my website's domain, which is also the hostname for the server, i'm assuming it just does local delivery... which won't work because my email is received by another server (Google Apps). So how do I disable local delivery in Exim4? dpkg-reconfigure exim4-config did not give any real results.

• How to connect externally to local network from local network?

  I have this weird problem with a Ventrilo server software running in my linux machine. If I connect the server inside my local network, messages keep lagging etc. But users joining the server outside my network do not experience any problems. So the question is, how can I trick the software inside the local network to make me appear as joining from external network. Do I need some proxy running in some external network machine? Does someone offer this kind of service? All the problems started when I changed my router so I guess it has something to do with the new router, but I haven't found a solution by changing settings in my router so I try to fix this in some other way.

• Postfix Vacation.pl with local users

  Hi, I am trying to setup the vacation.pl script on a mail servers which has local users only (since they are only 10 users). I have installed the SquirrelMail plugin and the Auto respond option is available for the users, but when an email is sent to the addresses no auto reply email is sent to the sender. There are also no logs on the /var/log/vacation folder which i created as well as the normal log files. Most of the examples online refer to virtual users, can it work with local users? and if so how? regards, Arthur

• Downloading content greater than 2000 bytes from local network hangs in browser on Windows XP

  We have web application that runs under Tomcat in a local network. Our customers experience strange problem using this web application. Let's say Tomcat server runs on host1 and we open webapp URL in browser on host2. Any browser on host 2 starts opening page and downloading of content "hangs" for hours. We've made bunch of experiments and found that any content larger than 2000 bytes makes browser request hang. Tried in Internet Explorer 8, Opera 12, Firefox. At the same time if user opens website from internet, it works. Opening webapp from the same host1 where Tomcat is running works normally. Local network is organized with D-Link DGS-3120-48TC switch. Additional info. During experiments we've noticed XP Tweaker installed on hosts. Network settings from that tool: MTU is manually set to 1500 RWIN = 14600 Support of TCP frames larger than 64 KB is on Time to Live = 32 SACK is on

• Phantom Local Disks appearing in my drive list

  I seem to have several phantom Local Disks mapped to different letters that are of 0 bytes in size. Strangely, they do not show up when I view my drives through Windows Explorer. But if I open an application such as ACDSee Pro or MS Word and then go to open a file I can see all these Local Disks mapped to different letters. This means when I plug in my external hard disk it ends up mapped to letter R instead of its usual G which messes up any programs I have pointing to it by default. How did they get there and more importantly, how do I get rid of them? I'm on a Window 7 Home Premium 32 bit machine.

• Race condition for thread startup

  A similar question was asked here, but the answers generally all seem to relate to the lambda notation. I get a similar result without the lambda so I thought I'd ask for some clarification: Say I have something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { Console.WriteLine("Thread " + i); }))).Start(); One would expect the following output: Thread 0 Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Now I realise that the threads aren't started in any particular order, so let's just assume that the above lines can come out in any order. But that is not what happens. What instead happens: Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 4 Thread 4 Thread 4 or something similar, which leads me to believe that rather than passing the value if i, it is passing the reference. (Which is weird, since an int is a value type). Doing something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { int j = i; Console.WriteLine("Thread " + j); }))).Start(); does not help either, even though we have made a copy of i. I am assuming the reason is that it hasn't made a copy of i in time. Doing something like this: for (int i = 0; i < 5; i++) { (new Thread(new ThreadStart(delegate() { Console.WriteLine("Thread " + i); }))).Start(); Thread.Sleep(50); } seems to fix the problem, however it is extremely undesirable as we're wasting 50ms on each iteration, not to mention the fact that if the computer is heavily loaded then maybe 50ms may not be enough. Here is a sample with my current, specific problem: Thread t = new Thread(new ThreadStart(delgate() { threadLogic(param1, param2, param3, param4); })); t.Start(); param1 = param2 = param3 = param4 = null; with: void threadLogic(object param1, object param2, object param3, object param4) { // Do some stuff here... } I want threadLogic() to run in its own thread, however the above code gives a null reference exception. I assume this is because the values are set to null before the thread has had a chance to start. Again, putting a Thread.Sleep(100) works, but it is an awful solution from every aspect. What do you guys recommend for this particular type of race condition?

• Access device with local ip over internet

  I apologize up front if this is the wrong place to post this question. It seemed like the best fit. I have a device which is connected to my local network which has an IP of 192.168.1.10 from my router. Additionally I use a Windows 7 machine that runs some software called DirectUpdate which allows me to resolve the local IP of the Windows 7 machine (192.168.1.5) to be accessible to the internet via my domain (example.com) - Basic dynamic DNS updating. I'd like to access the device from example.com. I am unsure how to do this as I don't have any way to install DirectUpdate (or any software) on the device to make the device available to the internet. Any insight here would be appreciated. I built a new Windows 8.1 machine, and I want to create my first system image backup of that machine to the same USB hard drive. • best storage option for recording live streaming video

  We're creating a new web site that includes video chat capabilities. Wowza Server is being used for the streaming media. We would like the capability for users to record their video chats in certain circumstances. Is it feasible to record the videos to the same server running Wowza? Or performance-wise, would it make more sense to store them on another server? I understand SANs are popular as well, but I'm a little concerned about cost for those as we are on a fairly tight budget. Currently we have two servers with pretty decent RAID cnofigurations for storage, one has 14TB and the other 6TB. Mostly concerned if doing the recording on the same server as the streaming server (or web server), could significantly adversely affect that server's primary function.

  hi,.. Can somebody help in understanding how Lun Provisioning is done in clariion based on client requirement. Say, a client needs one 50 GB space on the host( for application) ,two -350 GBs ( for DB and stuff) on the same host and i have 4 raid groups with space of 200 GB in one 50 GB in second and 400 GB and 400GB in rest two all having 5 disks. And , I 'm using Raid 5 only. How do i provision keeping performance in mind( so that performance hit is not there)?..And i need to understand the concept of meta head as well. Please help me by elaborating the above scenario..I am learning to provision storage in non productive environment( b'fore going ahead and working on client prod server) and i have been learning a lot from SF ...I request the seniors here to help me understand it better. • Intel Rapid Storage Technology - Raid5 is very slow

  Hi, I build a computer with a raid5, using the motherboards raid controller (ASUS P7H57D-V EVO - intel Rapid Storage Technology). The read and write are however very slow, when using the raid controller :( - I am using Windows 2008 R2, and when using the windows software raid, it was ok in speed - so there must be an issue with the controller? Im using 6 disks on 2TB each. Do anyone have any idea why its so slow, and how to fix it? I rather not pick the easy solutiuon of "just buy a raid controller" :| If you need more info about my setup, please just ask. Thanks :)

Ubuntu (13.04+) Mac OSX (10.8+) Windows (7+) What format should the drive be? Would like to avoid buying third party software, here's what I have discerned so far: NTFS - Can't be written to by Mac without buying third party software? ext3 - Windows can't read, third party software in development. Mac has OSXFUSE HFS+ - Buy third party and/or faff around to get working on windows exFAT - Cross platform, but breaks MS patents?

• Storage setup for large files

  I need to store over 200TB of data (all types, biggest being video files) and be able to access it over a local network. The files will be accessed for editing or searches. I don't need versioning, but a setup that would keep me safe from harddrive failures would be nice. Right now the content is on different harddrives, some external drives, some regular. I don't exclude the possibility of buying new/extra drives if necessary. If they will ever be exposed to the web, it wont be to the public, but just a couple of people. I have no idea what to buy to make this happen. I see some NAS solutions over the internet like this http://www.bestbuy.com/site/a/2266043.p?id=1218317764591&skuId=2266043 but the storage is not enough, plus it doesn't seem to be scalable.   Does anyone out their have rough (I don't need exact) pricing for Symantec (used to be Veritas) Storage Foundation for Windows? Its for Windows Server 2008 R2. Ideally, I would love to know the cost of Storange Foundation For Windows, and also the price of the options (like VRR, HA etc. ) if you happen to know them. Getting the information out of a reseller is like pulling teeth. They want to meet with us and discuss our needs etc. My needs are just to know whether its $100, $500, $1,000 or $10,000 per server in small qtys (i.e. less than 20 licences). Arghh. Anyone know the rough prices?

• Simple Central Storage for HA mail server

  Hi Everyone, I will have 2 Postfix servers. One will be a backup of the other. What is the easiest method to provide central storage to both of these boxes? My infrastructure is very simple: Just a lot of Xen hosts, so there is no SAN or anything. Each Xen host does have RAID1 though. I don't mind mounting NFS shares on each of those mail servers, as long as the NFS server wasn't a single point of failure. Is there such a thing as redundant NFS? Any help would be appreciated Thanks

  I am currently doing research to determine the consolidation ratio my company could expect should we start using a virtualization platform. I find myself continually running into a dead end when researching how to translate observed performance (weeks of perfmon data) to hdd array requirements for a virtualization server. I am familiar with the concept of IOPs, but they seem to be an overly simplistic measurement that fails to take into account cache, write combining, etc. Is there a seminal work on storage array performance analysis that I'm missing? This seems like an area where hearsay and 'black magic' have taken over for cold, hard fact.

  I have 2 web servers (1 live and other backup), the issue I have is our storage is rapidly running out. All the data on the server is used by our customers and new documents are uploaded to the server daily. So nothing can be deleted as it's always in use. We use a flat file structure with no database. I'm seeking solutions or ideas for the best place to move the our data to. The data has to be secure and needs to run on a linux environment. Not sure where to start - clusters, vmware, or they such solutions for huge file servers?

  Hi, I do not have deeper knowledge of the storage area, sorry for asking evidently stupid questions :) We are thinking about getting HP StorageWorks MSA60 for storing our VM. Do we need another DL server with controller so that we could use iSCSI ? Do we need to get some P800 controller for doing that? I cannot imagine how it is connected together actually ... MSA60-DLserver with p800 controller and servers that are running VM connected with iSCSI to this DL server ? Or MSA60 directly supports iSCSI so the DL server is not necessary ? What is inside this MSA60? Is it possible to install there OS ? Thank you.

With Azure Table storage in picture LinqPad was no longer in picture and we shifted focus to Cloud Storage Studio only to realize the limited and strange querying capabilities of CSS. With some tweaking to Linqpad we can get the comfortable old shoe of ad-hoc queries with LinqPad in the Azure Table storage. Steps: 1. Start LinqPad 2. Right Click in the query window and select “Query Properties” 3. In The Additional References add reference to Microsoft.WindowsAzure.StorageClient, System.Data.Services.Client.dll and the assembly containing the implementation of the DataServiceContext class tied to the Azure table storage. 4. In the additional namespace imports import the same three namespaces mentioned above. 5. Then we need to provide following details. a. Table storage account name and shared key. b. DataServiceContext implementing class in your code. c.
