• Access denied error when building project in Xcode after fresh SVN checkout

  I am seeing 2 strange access denied errors which I cant solve. • horizontal scrolling only!

  Hi all i have a that contains a HORIZONTAL menu. the menu consists of an unordered list. i would like the div to get a horizontal scroller whenever the menu exceeds the width of the <div>. i tried using these CSS definitions for my <div>: position: absolute; width: 380px; overflow: auto; overflow-y: hidden; height: 30px; but than realized that since the menu is LIST, the different list items break the line whenever they reach the width of the <div> and move on to the next line, thus the browser doesnt see the need for a horizontal scroller (it doesnt display a vertical one as well because of the overflow-y: hidden; line) any ideas how i can create a 1 line horizontal menu which will scroll horizontally only? thank you all so much.

• Galleria jQuery plugin briefly shows all images in IE 7 & 8

  I'm using the galleria jQuery plugin on a site. When the gallery first loads, all of the images appear briefly & vertically in ie 7 & 8. This doesn't happen when i isolate the gallery, only when i put it on a somewhat heavy page. This leads me to believe that it happens when the page is a little slow to load. Does anybody know a way to fix this? I feel like an overflow: hidden should fix this, but I've applied it along with a height in every container I could think of. Anybody have any ideas? • jQuery onmouseover + onmouseout / hover on two different divs

  Hello everybody, I've got a Problem: Here a part of my HTML: <div id="div_1"> Here Hover </div> <div id="div_2"> Here content to show </div> And here a part of my jQuery Script: jQuery('#div_2').hide(); jQuery('#div_1').onmouseover(function() { jQuery('#div_2').fadeIn(); }).onmouseout(function(){ jQuery('#div_2').fadeOut(); }); The Problem: If i hover on the div_1, the div_2 is shown, if i hover out, the div_2 is hidden, but: If i hover first on div_1 and then go over div_2, the div_2 is hidden fast. I've tried this with jQuery.addClass(); after mouseout in div_1, but nothing is changing. I dont want do make the second div in the first div... Is there another way with jQuery? Thx Ahmet

  Hi, Im learning rails and exploring a bit away from the book and creating a simple application with added functionality as i increase my knowledge. Im writing a simple blog application and i have a field in the form called date added, i don't want this to be a field i want it to get the date from the server and place it in to the database automatically. How would i go about doing this? I was thinking of a hidden field but then unsure on how to process the date and insert it to the hidden field. Is this the wrong way of going about things?   Okay my script is supposed to delete a specific users case which is stored in 2 MySQL tables but for some reason when the user deletes the specific case it deletes all the users cases I only want it to delete the case the user selects. • C# WinForms StatusStrip - How do I reclaim the space from the "Grip"

  I've got a StatusStrip with a single ToolStripStatusLabel, Spring=true and a background color for notifications. The problem is that there's an ugly gray square on the right side of the status strip. After fiddling for a while, I realized this is the sizing grip (I had is set to SizingGrip=false, GripStyle=Hidden). Yet even with it hidden, it still hogs the space. I can't get any content on the status strip to extend all the way to the right. How would you work around this? Note I can't just set the backcolor of the StatusStrip because the Status Label changes colors and has some fading effects.

  For a given SQL stored proc or function, I'm trying to obtain its input and output parameters, where applicable, in a Winforms app I'm creating to browse objects and display their parameters and other attributes. So far I've discovered the SQL system function object_definition, which takes a given sysobjects.id and returns the text of that object; also discovered via search this post which describes extracting the parameters in the context of a app using the ADO.NET method DeriveParameters in conjunction with some caching for better performance; and for good measure found some helpful system stored procs from this earlier post on Hidden Features of SQL Server. I'm leaning towards implementing the DeriveParameters method in my C# app, since parsing the output of object_definition seems messy, and I haven't found a hidden feature in that post so far that would do the trick. Is DeriveParameters applicable to both functions and stored procs for purposes of retreiving their parameters, and if so, could someone please provide an example?

  I am using an external library for Artificial Neural Networks in my project.. While testing the ANN, It gave me output of all NaN (not a number in C#) The ANN has 8 input , 5 hidden , 5 hidden , 2 output, and all activation layers are of Linear type , and it uses back-propagation, with learning rate 0.65 I used one testcase for training { -2.2, 1.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.1, 5, 3, -5 } ,{ -0.3, 0.2 } for 1000 epoch And I tested it on { 0.2, -0.2, 5.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0, 35, 0.0 } which gave { NaN , NaN} Note: this is one example of many that produces same case... I am trying to discover whether it is a bug in the library, or an illogical configuration.. The reasons I could think of for illogical configuration: All layers should not be linear Can not have descending size layers, i.e 8-5-5-2 is bad.. Only one testcase ? Values must be in range [0,1] or [-1,1] Is any of the above reasons could be the cause of error, or there are some constraints/rules that I do not know in ANN designing..? Note: I am newbie in ANN

  Hi folks, // Major edit, sorry in bed with back pain, screwed up post One of the ad agencies I code for had me set up an alternate scrolling solution because you know how designers hate things that just work but aren't beautiful. The scrolling solution is applied to divs with overflow:hidden and uses jQuery's scrollTo(). So, this is married in places to their CMS. What I have not been able to sort yet is how to hide the scrolling UI when overflow:auto would not have been triggered by the CMS content. The divs have set heights and widths. Can i detect hidden content? Or measure the div contents' height? Any ideas? TIA JG

My autocomplete works in the following way: the id is a number, tha label and the value are the same and are a concatenation of id + " - " + description. When a value from the autocomplete is selected, a hidden field's value is set to the value of id. Then, the hidden field value is saved to the db when the form is submitted. When the user comes back on the page for editing, I need to reload the value from the db: I set the idden field value again and then I would like to precompile the value of the autocomplete widget with the concatenation of id + " - " + description taken form the db. I think I should trigger the event of selecting a row in the autocomplete, but I don't know how to do. Do you have any ideas? • Using CSS, how can I make overflow:visible; contents overlap adjacent <td> cells?

  I have the following CSS style code for my table: td { overflow: hidden; white-space:nowrap; } td:hover { overflow: visible; } However, when I hover over a <td> element whos contents (text) are hidden, the result is that the contents become visible but are behind the content of the adjacent cell (right side). I do not think that z-index can be applied to table cell elements, so is there a CSS attribute that I can specify within my td:hover style which will make the content of my <td> tag overlap the content in adjacent cells?

• HMM for perspective estimation in document image, can't understand the algorithm

  Hello! Here is a paper, it is about estimating the perspective of binary image containing text and some noise or non text objects. PDF document The algorithm uses the Hidden Markov Model: actually two conditions T - text B - backgrouond (i.e. noise) It is hard to understand the algorithm itself. The question is that I've read about Hidden Markov Models and I know that it uses probabilities that must be known. But in this algorithm I can't understand, if they use HMM, how do they get those probabilities (probability of changing the state from S1 to another state for example S2)? I didn't find anything about training there also in that paper. So, if somebody understands it, please tell me. Also is it possible to use HMM without knowing the state change probabilities?

• WPF application which calls an API, which needs a message pump

  I have a WPF application that calls an API to operate a device (a scanner). This API is COM based, and internally has a hidden window that the scanner sends messsages too. The intent of the API is to turn those windows messages into COM events. The problem is that the WPF application doesn't have a message pump, and therefore none of the messages are being delivered to the hidden window. Therefore none of the events are fired and it looks like the scanner is not responding. How should I create a message loop in the WPF application that will be able to dispatch messages to the invisible window?

• Use jQuery to show a div only when scroll position is between 2 points

  Hi, I'm trying to work out how to get a div (#tips) to appear when the user scrolls into the 2nd quarter of its containing div's height (#wrap), and then have it disappear when the user scrolls into the last quarter. So it would be like this: 1st quarter - #tips is hidden 2nd quarter - #tips is visible 3rd quarter - #tips is visible 4th quarter - #tips is hidden I'm almost completely new to jQuery but what I've got so far is this: function addKeyboardNavigation(){ // get the height of #wrap var $wrapHeight = $('#wrap').outerHeight() // get 1/4 of wrapHeight var $quarterwrapHeight = ($wrapHeight)/4 // get 3/4 of wrapHeight var $threequarterswrapHeight = 3*($wrapHeight) // check if we're over a quarter down the page if( $(window).scrollTop() > $quarterwrapHeight ){ // if we are show keyboardTips $("#tips").fadeIn("slow"); } } This is where I get confused. • What's a reliable and practical way to protect software with a user license ?

  I know software companies use licenses to protect their softwares, but I also know there are keygen programs to bypass them. I'm a Java developer, if I put my program online for sale, what's a reliable and practical way to protect it ? How about something like this, would it work ? <1> I use ProGuard to protect the source code. <2> Sign the executable Jar file. <3> Since my Java program only need to work on PC [I need to use JDIC in it], I wrap the final executable Jar into an .exe file which makes it harder to decompile. <4> When a user first downloads and runs my app, it checks for a Pass file on his PC. <5> If the Pass file doesn't exist, run the app in demo mode, exits in 5 minutes. <6> When demo exits a panel opens with a "Buy Now" button. This demo mode repeats forever unless step <7> happens. <7> If user clicks the "Buy Now" button, he fills out a detailed form [name, phone, email ...], presses a "Verify Info" button to save the form to a Pass file, leaving license Key # field empty in this newly generated Pass file. <8> Pressing "Verify Info" button will take him to a html form pre-filled with his info to verify what he is buying, also hidden in the form's input filed is a license Key number. He can now press a "Pay Now" button to goto Paypal to finish the process. <9> The hidden license Key # will be passed to Paypal as product Id info and emailed to me. <10> After I got the payment and Paypal email, I'll add the license Key # to a valid license Key list, and put it on my site, only I know the url. The list is updated hourly. <11> Few hours later when the user runs the app again, it can find the Pass file on his PC, but the license Key # value is empty, so it goes to the valid list url to see if its license Key # is on the list, if so, write the license Key # into the Pass file, and the next time it starts again, it will find the valid license Key # and start in purchased mode without exiting in 5 minutes. <12> If it can't find its license Key # on the list from my url, run in demo mode. <13> In order to prevent a user from copying and using another paid user's valid Pass file, the license Key # is unique to each PC [I'm trying to find how], so a valid Pass file only works on one PC. Only after a user has paid will Paypal email me the valid license Key # with his payment. <14> The Id checking goes like this : Use the CPU ID : "CPU_01-02-ABC" for example, encrypt it to the result ID : "XeR5TY67rgf", and compare it to the list on my url, if "XeR5TY67rgf" is not on my valid user list, run in demo mode. If it exists write "XeR5TY67rgf" into the Pass File license field. In order to get a unique license Key, can I use his PC's CPU Id ? Or something unique and useful [ relatively less likely to change ]. If so let's say this CPU ID is "CPU_01-02-ABC", I can encrypt it to something like "XeR5TY67rgf", and pass it to Paypal as product Id in the hidden html form field, then I'll get it from Paypal's email notification, and add it to the valid license Key # list on the url. So, even if a hacker knows it uses CPU Id, he can't write it into the Pass file field, because only encrypted Ids are valid Ids. And only my program knows how to generate the encrypted Ids. And even if another hacker knows the encrypted Id is hidden in the html form input field, as long as it's not on my url list, it's still invalid. Can anyone find any flaw in the above system ? Is it practical ? And most importantly how do I get hold of this unique ID that can represent a user's PC ? Frank

I want to click the html element and give display:none to hideElement, then to click the element id="bar", give to the hidden element display:block, but instead of click the element foo, click the html element. • Performance differences between iframe hiding methods?

  Is there a major performance difference between the following: <iframe style="visibility:hidden" /> <iframe style="width:0px; height:0px; border:0px" /> I'm using a hidden iframe to pull down and parse some information from an external server. If the iframe actually attempts to render the page, this may suck up a lot of CPU cycles. Of course, I'd ideally just want to get the raw markup - for example, if I could prevent the iframe from loading img tags, that would be perfect.
