Question about Paperclip for Rails

I'm using Papeclip(2.3.1.1) with Rails(2.3.5). In my view I write so: <%= link_to image_tag(p.attachment.url(:small)), p.attachment.url(:original) %, and it becomes into href="/system/attachments/1/original/1.JPG?1270134617 (for a tag) src="/system/attachments/1/small/1.JPG?1270134617" (for img tag). And when I click on the picture, my browser (Firefox) offers me to save or open picture and I want to just open picture in browser without any dialogs. I think it's because link contains ?1270134617 after file's name. How can I fix it?

IE6 extra padding on bottom

I have a div tag styled through CSS. I set the padding to 10px (padding:10px), it works just as I wanted in Firefox and IE7, but in IE6 it adds additional padding at the bottom (about 2-3px I think). Anyone has idea about what's happening here? [update] I just noticed this, the div tag I'm talking about has a background-image. When I removed the background-image, the extra padding on the bottom disappears. Any ideas? JS / JQuery character problem

What can I do to sort this problem out?

When I click on a menu item right changes to a bunch of images, if I click on one of those images the above code should take effect and load into the main div, but it's just not working. the images are located within a div called sIMG. Any help will be appreciated

Now I want to get that path and insert it into a < img > tag so It will show to get a preview before I upload.

Should not be such a hard question... I'm just having a hard time figuring out how to make operations on some jquery elements, particularly their indexes. Teh codez: $( "#docSlider" ).css("background-image", "url(../../bundles/mypath/images/maquette/img" + $( "#selectable li" ).index( this ) + (".jpg)")); I want to make the name of the picture I load depend on the index of a jQuery selectable. So I grab the index and try to add 1... but it can't work because "+" is also a concatenator. I've tried to parseInt as well, but it was always worth 0. How do I simply transform the index to an integer and then concatenate it with the rest of the string? Thank you in advance! Edit : I'm using a function that already exists, so I can hardly change the parameters (well, I guess I can't...)

Using CSS to both scale AND reposition an image WITHIN a div?

We know how to use CSS to show only part of an image within a div (i.e., image sprites), but the image has to be a background image. We know how to use CSS to scale an image, but the image has to be an IMG. Does anyone know of a way to scale and image and show only part of it? For example, I want to: show pixels (15,15) through (100,100), and scale it up by 200%. The first I can do by making in a background image. The second I can do by making it a foreground image. But so far, I have not ascertained how to do both. Is it even possible using only CSS/HTML?

My array has 5 indexes: 0,1,2,3,4, so HOW Container.ItemIndex can be 5...?

302 Redirect to Images in IE8 do not render image

I am helping migrate a legacy application. One of the requirements is we are able to handle requests for old images. What we have is: New site on new.com Old site on old.com Images to links (imported content) point to /imgs/cat.png however the actual image is hosted on old.com/assets/images/cat.png (for now). <img src="/imgs/cat.png"/> I setup a redirect for all png, jpg, jpeg, gif that 302's requests for new.com/imgs/(.*).(png|jpg|jpeg|gif) to http://old.com/assets/images/$1.$2 Everything works find in Chrome, Firefox and IE9 - however it was noted in IE8 the image does not render. Its possible that it has the same issue in IE7, 6 and 5.5 however I have not been able to test this. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix? I tried setting the contentType header on the response of the 302's to image/(png|jpg|jpeg|gif) and this did not have any impact. Any insight would be appreciated.

First off I want to say that I wasn't really sure where to post this but it is very much programming related. If it is in the wrong spot I apologize and please let me know where I should post it instead. When sharing an article on a friends wall, facebook will grab a thumbnail of the article. How do they always get the right thumbnail from articles? It doesn't grab the logo img element of of http://www.nytimes.com/2010/06/07/world/asia/07convoys.html?hp for example but rather grabs the correct image element that corresponds with the article. I'm looking to do something similar and was wondering of a good way to parse the html to find the image given this example. Thanks.

Vertical Aligned Text and Image in list

Is there a way of vertical aligning text and an image in a list? e.g. <li>Some text here <img src="image.jpg" alt="" /></li> The text doesn't align in the middle of the side of the image, it appears at the bottom then the image is next to it. I need the text to be in the center point between the image on the side. What's the best way of doing it? I know having a image inside a list isn't valid HTML (AFAIK). Thanks :)

I have a div which wraps a number of images that are generated dynamically. I don't know how high the list of images is. My problem is the div that contains the dynamically generated images doesn't behave like it is housing any content - I want it to extend to the height of the list of images. Each image is itself wrapped in a div. This is the wrapper div: .block { padding:10px; margin-top:10px; height:auto; background-color:#f9f9f9; } This is the markup dynamically generated for (one of) the images: <div class="block"> <div style="float: left; padding: 2px 2px 2px 2px;"><IMG SRC="45.jpg" BORDER="0"/></div> ..... When i check the source this <img id="wrapper-background" src="images/body-background-0.jpg" alt="Background" /> and i think theres some kind of script maybe php or js, or both, that every 5 sec changes the background: images/body-background-1.jpg images/body-background-2.jpg images/body-background-3.jpg and so on.. So how did they do this? an example would be great, as i want to learn how to do that. If i was going to do something like this i think i would only manage to do a script in php that randomize everytime you refresh. Thank you, this will expand my knowledge

Which is more efficient/faster when calling a cached image?

Hi, i made an image resizer in php. When an image is resized, it caches a new jpg file with the new dimensions. Next time you call the exact img.php?file=hello.jpg&size=400 it checks if the new jpg has already been created. If it has NOT been created yet, it creates the file and then prints the output (cool). If it ALREADY exists, no new file needs to be generated and instead, it just calls the already cached file. My question is regarding the second scenario. Which of these is faster? redirecting: header('Location: cache/hello_400.jpg');die(); grabbing data and printing the cached file: $data = file_get_contents('cache/hello_400.jpg'); header('Content-type: '.$mime); header('Content-Length: '.strlen($data)); echo $data; Any other ways to improve this?
