    Hello, I have an awesome trouble with Gem. After executing this command: rm -f /usr/local/lib/ruby/gems/1.9.1/cache/* I can not do any thing.   • I keep getting OpenSSL Header Version not found error when compiling OpenSSH Debian Squeeze

    I built Openssl1.0.0d ./config shared no-threads zlib It installed fine to the default /usr/local/ssl I went and downloaded OpenSSH 5.8p2 and ran ./configure but now it keeps giving me a Openssl version header not found error even when I set --with-ssl-dir= I've tried it with arguments /usr/local/ssl/include /usr/local/ssl/include/openssl /usr/include /usr/local/ssl/lib I looked in config.log and found error: openssl/opensslv.h: no such file or directory which makes little sense since I pointed openssh to where it is store. /etc/ld.so.conf include /usr/local/ssl/lib I'm at a loss at this point. Answer (maybe): Because I am an idiot. include /usr/local/ssl/lib is incorrect. /usr/local/ssl/lib is correct. It needs to be before the first include.

  • How do I deploy a utility with ocx dependency to a test machine without registering the ocx?

    I have a test utility that depends upon an ocx file that is installed/registered on my development machine. We'd like to run this tool on a test machine without polluting the machine with any unnecessary files. Nothing should be installed except the target machine software. Running the tool on a network drive or from a stand-alone directory copied to the test machine would be ideal. But, registering the ocx on the test machine is out of the question. Placing the ocx file in the same directory as the exe doesn't work. No matter what it still gives me this error--"The application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem." What else can I try?

    I need to install packages within non-internet connection environment. My plan is to download dist structure from Internet and then add file path to /etc/apt/sources.list. So I download related structure includes ubunt/dists/precise, precise-backports, precise-proposed, precise-security, precise-updates from a ftp mirror server.   • Help with understanding why UAC dialog pops up on Win7 for our application

    We have a C++ unmanaged application that appears to cause a UAC prompt. It seems to happen on Win7 and NOT on Vista Unfortunately the UAC dlg is system modal so I can't attach a debugger to check in the code where it is, and running under msdev (we're using 2008) runs in elevated mode. We put a message box at the start of our program/winmain but it doesn't even get that far, so apparently this is in the startup code. What can cause a UAC notification so early and what other things can I do to track down the cause? EDIT Apparently the manifest is an important issue here, but it seems not to be helping me - or perhaps I am not configuring the manifest file correctly. Can someone provide a sample manifest? Also, does the linker/UAC magic figure out that the program "might" write to the registry and set its UAC requirements based on that? There are code paths that might trigger UAC, but we are not even at that point when the UAC dlg comes up. An additional oddity is that this does not seem to happen on Vista with UAC turned on.   • Git is not using the first editor in my $PATH

    I am using OS X 10.8, and I used brew to install a more recent version of emacs than the one shipped with OS X. The newer emacs binary is installed in /usr/local/bin (24.2.1), and the old "shipped-with-osx" one in /usr/bin (22.1.1). I updated my $PATH env variable by prepending /usr/local/bin to it. It works fine in my shell (ie. typing emacs runs the 24.2.1 version), but when git opens the editor, the emacs version is 22.1.1. Isn't git supposed to use $PATH to find the editor I want to use ? Additional informations: $ type -a emacs emacs is /usr/local/bin/emacs emacs is /usr/bin/emacs emacs is /usr/local/bin/emacs $ env PATH=/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin SHELL=/bin/zsh PAGER=most EDITOR=emacs -nw _=/usr/bin/env Please note that I'd prefer not to set the absolute path of my editor directly in my git conf, as I use this conf across multiple systems. It uses Nucleus Threading system but it doesn't have support for explicit thread local storage i.e, TlsAlloc, TlsSetValue, TlsGetValue, TlsFree APIs. The platform doesn't have user space pthreads as well. I found that __thread storage modifier is present in most of the C++ compilers. But i don't know how to make it work for my kind of usage. How does __thread keyword can be mapped with explicit thread local storage?   • Is there a way to prevent SQL Server silently truncating data in local variables and stored procedure parameters?

    I recently encountered an issue while porting an app to SQL Server. It turned out that this issue was caused by a stored procedure parameter being declared too short for the data being passed to it: the parameter was declared as VARCHAR(100) but in one case was being passed more than 100 characters of data. What surprised me was that SQL Server didn't report any errors or warnings -- it just silently truncated the data to 100 characters. The following SQLCMD session demonstrates this: 1 create procedure WhereHasMyDataGone (@data varchar(5)) as 2 begin 3 print 'Your data is ''' + @data + '''.'; 4 end; 5 go 1 exec WhereHasMyDataGone '123456789'; 2 go Your data is '12345'. Local variables also exhibit the same behaviour: 1 declare @s varchar(5) = '123456789'; 2 print @s; 3 go 12345 Is there an option I can enable to have SQL Server report errors (or at least warnings) in such situations? Or should I just declare all local variables and stored procedure parameters as VARCHAR(MAX) or NVARCHAR(MAX)?

  • Syntax errors on Heroku, but not on local server (postgresql related?)

    I'm trying to deploy my first app on Heroku (rails 3). It works fine on my local server, but when I pushed it to Heroku and ran it, it crashes, giving a number of syntax errors. These are related to a collection of scopes I use like the one below: scope :scored, lambda { |score = nil| score.nil? ? {} : where('products.votes_count >= ?', score) } it produces errors of this form: "syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting '|' " "syntax error, unexpected '}', expecting kEND" Why is this syntax making Heroku choke and how can I correct it? Thanks! EDIT: I was using sqlite on my local machine and Heroku does not support that. Trying to make sure the db is properly configured for PG. I believe I have done that by specifying in the gemfile that sqlite only be used in development. Yet I still get these syntax errors, that interrupt even the db:migrate. EDIT: So now it seems more likely that my scope syntax doesn't work in postgreSQL. Does anyone know how to convert this properly?

  • Virtual Hosts Not Working (12.10)

    I'm trying to get virtual hosts up and running on my Ubuntu laptop that has 12.10 installed. I'm running Apache2, and I enabled the virtual hosting module. When I go to 12.0.0.1, I'm able to get the default page. When I go to example.local, I just get the search engine results, instead of the "hey, you're seeing this" page I set up in that directory (/var/www/example.local). I even made sure I have only one "NameVirtualHost *:80" variable active.   • Why am I unable to telnet to a local port that has a listening service?

    I suspect this is either a very simple question, or a very complex one. I have a headless server running ubuntu 10.04 that I can ssh into. I have full root access to the system. I am trying to set up an ssh tunnel to allow me to vnc to the system (but that isn't my question. Re-re-edit: To check Paul Lathrop's suggested answer, I first verified my ip address with ifconfig: eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 02:16:3e:42:28:8f inet addr:10.0.10.3 Bcast:10.0.10.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 Then tried to telnet to 5903 from that address: # telnet 10.0.10.3 5903 Trying 10.0.10.3... telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection timed out No luck. Re-re-re-re-edit: Ok, I think I have isolated it a bit to vncserver, not the firewall, darn it. I shut off vncserver and had netcat listen on port 5903. My vnc client then was able to establish a connnection and sit and wait for a response. Looks like I should be chasing a vnc problem. At least that is progress Thanks for the help

  • Cannot ping Localhost so I can't shutdown Tomcat

    Hi, I installed Tomcat 6 using the tar-ball via wget. I read that this might be because I have a firewall blocking incoming connections on the shutdown port (8005). I have a default Ubuntu 9.04 installation running on a VPS with no rules in my iptables. How can I tell if that port is blocked? How can I check that the server is listening for connections on 8005?   • How do I parse a UTC date format string to local date time?

    I'm currently using the jQuery fullcalendar plugin but I've came across an issue regarding daylight savings time in Britain. After the daylight savings take effect the hours are being displayed an hour out of phase. The problem appears to be with the plugins parsing function. Can someone please provide me with the funciton to parse a UTC string which includes the 'Z' demonination into a local date time for display?

We have forms authentication for the site and reports have already been created and deployed in the report server. We are having so many problems with authentication when we set the report viewer control to access the server report.
