• iChat Screen Sharing - Keyboard shortcut to switch back to my computer without messing with the mous

  When you are watching a screen sharing session commanded by the other user, in other words, you are watching the other user doing stuff in his computer, how do I switch back to my computer without disrupting the other user by stealing the mouse to click on the "My Computer" window? Put simply: To go back to my computer I have to click in the "My computer" little window at the bottom, but that requires me to use the mouse which is being used by the other user. There must be a way to use a keyboard shortcut to perform that action without bothering the other user who is using the mouse to do something important. Anyone? Thanks, -Sergio

I just flashed it with default settings and got everything working, except my wireless laptop cannot ping my desktop which is wired to the router. What can I do to fix this? • Windows 7 remote desktop connection does not respond to mouse or keyboard

  Pretty much every time I connect to my work PC from home (both running Windows 7), I can see the screen refresh and signs of life (clock changes, notifications pop up), but I cannot interact with the remote machine at all. Mouse and keyboard input are both ignored. If I repeatedly reconnect, I will eventually get a connection that works. I think either a setting on my host machine, VPN client or work network is configured wrong. My home PC is running Windows 7 Professional. My work PC is running Windows 7 Enterprise. My VPN client is Cisco AnyConnect. Is this a problem anyone else has run in to? Any suggestions for settings to tweak?

• Setting up Dynamic DNS for Wireless Cameras And Accessing them Remotely

  I've been trying to set up two TP LINK wireless N cameras that I bought so that I can see them remotely. I've set it up so that each has it's own ip address (192...105/192...106) and I can access them if I type that into the browser of a local computer The thing is that I don't know how to access them from another remote PC. My current setup is a a each camera connected to the router which then connects to the modem. When I set up the Dynamic DNS, and I access the "webpage" for my IP through a remote computer, it just goes to the configuration page of the modem. I have no idea how to make it go to the router or to the cameras. the router has its own ip range of 192.168.1.x while the modem has 192.168.2.x To access the cameras I type into the web browser: 192.168.1.114:100 on the local computer but I have no idea how to get there through the webpage of my Dynamic DNS remotely.

• Vista machine hardwired cannot see xp laptop on wireless

  I have a laptop with windows xp, connected to my wireless router. I am trying to view the shared files on the laptop with my vista desktop computer. The desktop computer is hardwired to the same router. I can see the desktop pc fine on the xp laptop, and view the shared folders. I cannot see the xp laptop when on the desktop pc. I have tried installing the link update for xp, that is not the issue. I have also tried turning off firewalls, no dice. I have scoured google for this issue, and do not see any resolutions. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• Eclipse And Linux: Keyboard unusable after gnome-screen-saver

  Hi, I know this is not programming related. But I can't find any topics on Google or UbuntuForums. So the problem is: When gnome-screensaver starts on the moment Eclipse has the focus and I wake up again my laptop, Eclipse doesn't listen to keyboard-events. To solve this I have to change the focus to another program and then back to Eclipse. Than it works again. This isn't a real problem, but it would be nice if someone can solve it. Thanks

• Keyboard Navigation of File Open Dialog in Windows 7

  In Windows XP standard File - Open dialog, the top has a "Look In" box. I can press Alt+I to drop down a tree of the disks folders and easily navigate to other folders or network shares. In Windows 7, I can't seem to navigate the File - Open dialog as easily. The best I've been able to muster is to tab 5 times (in Excel 2007, but I assume it's a windows standard), then use arrow keys or use Alt+arrow keys like a browser to get around. It's simply not as good because I can't see the whole tree at once. Is there a way to see the whole folder tree? If not, do you have any other tips for keyboard navigation of the file open dialog in Windows 7?

  I have an IBM UltraNav USB keyboard with a trackpoint and a touchpad. Using xinput I've gotten a number of things working how I would like, but I've got one remaining problem. I can't find a way to turn off tap-to-select on the touchpad. I've searched around and everyone describes how to do it using the synaptics driver, but for some reason I can't seem to get this installed and working correctly on my Ubuntu 10.04 install. What can I do to turn this feature off without having synaptics? I'm about to lose my mind from all the accidental clicks.

• Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 Scroll Not Working

  I have a Microsoft Wireless Mouse 5000 with Intellipiont 7.1 installed on Windows 7 x64. The scroll has stopped working before, but a restart or two always seemed to resolve it. I tested the mouse on another computer and it worked. I also tested an Microsoft Arc mouse on this computer and the scroll worked. I have checked everything I could find on google and nothing helps. I have reinstalled intellipoint two times. Tried to change my mouse to another model in the intellipoint settings as suggested in many forums. Nothing. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great. Otherwise, I think my next step is to pitch this mouse and get a logitech at Best Buy tomorrow.

In the preferences, it allows you to set global hotkeys to control playing, like/dislike, volume, stations, etc. What I would like to do is allow the built-in media keys on my MacBook Pro's keyboard (F7-F12: Previous, Play/Pause, Next, Mute, Volume Up, Volume Down) to control PandoraBoy like they do iTunes. Right now, I am using Command-F(7-12) to control it, but that requires me to hold down the "fn" and command keys Is there a way to bind these commands to the media keys without needing to function-shift them?

  I tried to install Ubuntu 10.10 desktop edition on my laptop and unfortunately it didn't detect my keyboard (it detects my mouse) so I couldn't finish installation. Is it something wrong I'm doing? There isn't really much to specify during the installation process and I'm really disappointed that such a trivial task as installation cannot be done without asking a question on a forum.   I've got 2 pcs setup with WLAN - however when I copy files between the machines it takes forever (obviously, since I run 801.11g). So I thought, why not just connect them directly with a cable (my wireless router is the other end of the house, that's why I don't use cables to that) However how should I configure the LAN connection on each machine, so I can use it for transferring files between them, whilst using my WLAN to access the Internet ? I was thinking about letting one machine be gateway, but then Windows pops up with a lot of warnings (basically it says this won't work when you're using two disjoint networks) And now I'm at a loss as to what to try.

• Google reader Keyboard shortcuts not working in Firefox 3.6

  I just upgraded to Ubuntu 10.04 which comes with Firefox 3.6.3. Now Google reader some keyboard shortcuts stopped working, The j/k keys are ok, but 'v', 'Shift+x' and others don't work and start the Search As You type functionality I've always used. The Javascript console only shows this warning: Warning: The 'charCode' property of a keyup event should not be used. The value is meaningless.   On new or existing Citrix XenApp 4.5 servers, I am having problems streaming the Allscripts Pro EHR application via the XenApp web interface. When users launch the application via the Citrix XenApp web interface, the application does not have focus, preventing users from typing in their username and password. If they use their mouse to select either the username or password fields, they still cannot enter any text. However, if they do any of the following actions, they can then enter in their username and password and the application runs without problems: Click on the Login button with empty fields. Logon fails but they can then enter their credentials. Minimize the login window and then maximize it. They can then gain keyboard focus to enter their credentials. What might be preventing this particular application from having focus when it launches?

• Restarted computer, now wireless and Visual Studio is broken

  I installed the new update for TortoiseSVN which requires a restart. Upon restarting a lot of things broke. I'm currently running a virus scan, but what would cause this? Among the things that no longer work is Visual Studio. It now says "Invalid License Data. A reinstall is required" and my wireless internet does not work. When I go to connect to my network it will say "Can not connect" and then when I diagnose the problem it says "The connection to accesspoint-name was cancelled" (and yes, canceled is misspelt like that) What could have caused this? My computer did not install any updates or anything like that upon restarting and it was running fine before I restarted it.

  Hey everyone, I looked through other questions, but didn't find useful responses. Our main computer has a dl speed of 6 Mbps, but some of our other computers are getting only 40-200 Kb! The router is wireless, but all computers are connected using a Netgear Wall-Plugged Bridge XE102, which transmits information via the building's powerline. It can't be the hardware itself, however, because some computers still manage decent speeds. The computers afflicted are running on Microsoft XP Service Packs 2 and 3, but so are computers that are totally functional. These speeds severely impede on productivity and are excruciatingly frustrating when trying to cram in time in the early hours. Could it be an issue with the computer? Location? Router? • Windows VPN not authenticating from ADSL to Wireless link

  I have a normal windows VPN on a computer connecting to a 196.201.x.x/24 IP. If this VPN tries to connect from any address in the 41.x.x.x range it cant get there. The server is a normal windows 2008 server, running exchange with a PPPoE IP natted to a public IP on the public gateway of the wireless network as the server is on site and its connectivity is derived from Mikrotik RB's. The computer on the 41 range can traceroute and ping the server, but the VPN does not authenticate. When on the network or any other, the VPN works fine. Is there something that could be configured on the VPN client? All firewall settings of a standard ADSL router have been checked and found to block only ICMP's. Is this a VPN configuration problem or a network issue?

  It seems that recently I have to turn off and then turn on my router every time I want to connect my laptop(s) to the internet. This is what's happens: When I want to connect to the internet on my laptop, the network icon in the system tray states that I am connected to the wireless network but there's no "internet connectivity" I turn off the router and turn it back on and then I can connect to the internet. Looking at the mprinter project on Kickstarter I started to wonder if there is an app somewhere in the internet already that will allow to prepare an automated daily printout based on some settings. things to be printed could include - weather forecast for my locations, todo`s scheduled for that day, a "quote of a day" or "word of the day", stats from google analytics for my site, and many more ... I would set a printout at 6:15 every work day so its on my printer when I am already up, having a coffee. anyone knows something that can be used for such purpose? While I know this can be done by combining the power of TeX, cron and a script language to manage the dynamic part of the PDF I believe this is a use case someone has already addressed.
