  • What is the best way to download files via HTTP using c#

    Hi, In one of my application I'm using the WebClient class to download files from a web server. Depending on the web server sometimes the application download millions of documents. It seems to be when there are lot of documents, performance vise the WebClient doesn't scale up well. Also it seems to be the WebClient doesn't immediately close the connection it opened for the WebServer even after it successfully download the particular document. I would like to know what other alternatives I have. Thanks, Shamika

  • WPF RichTextBox support for document links?

    I'm attempting to render RTF documents using the WPF RichTextBox control. So far, the appearance of the rendered RTF documents is quite true to the originals which were authored using MS Word. The one issue I've found is that the "document anchors" which are hyperlinks to different locations within the document, do not function as hoped. While they look like links, clicking on them does nothing. Can the WPF RichTextBox support this type of link?

As far as I understand native xml databases might form a proper solution for my case. They obviously store xml documents in highly efficient way. It would be great to learn your experience. We have a number of documents that are the same size i.e. 488x320mm, the content within these documents is always positioned relative to the top right of the document but varies in size i.e. 210x330mm, 240x350mm etc. What i need to do is 'find' the content block and move it from its current position to the centre of the sheet.     I want a UILabel to render a partial character by setting the lineBreakMode to clip. But it is clipping the entire character. Is there a different way to clip a word so that only partial character is displayed? Lets say I have a string like: "Hello Word" and that string is in a myLabel with a width that only fits the 5 characters and part of the "W" I want it still to render part of the "W" and not drop it from the render.

    I'm creating a view with images, videos, audio and documents (books) and I like to shown a picture of each of them in a carousel. Everything works nicely with images and videos as far as we added a image-thumbnail (image filefield) to their CCK but we like to show a default image for audio and documents without changing the original CCK. Is it possible with imagecache (may be with imagecache_custom_code or views_custom_php) or we need to look for a different approach? Thanks for your help, m.

  • problem with mingw32-make

    hi, I'm quite new with makefile but I don't think the problem I got is caused by my noobness. Somehow if I try to execute mingw32-make from Users/(user)/Documents/myProject the output is "mingw32-make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop." if I just drag the folder with it to my Desktop and execute make, it works. Any ideas why does it behave like this or perhaps how to make it work from Documents directory too?

  • Create a Counter within a For-Loop?

    I am a novice programmer and apologize upfront for the complicated question. I am trying to create a lexical decision task for experimental research, in which respondents must decide if a series of letters presented on the screen make a "word" or "not a word". Everything works reasonably well except for the bit where I want to randomly select a word (category A) or nonword (category B) for each of 80 trials from a separate input file (input.txt). The randomization works, but some elements from each list (category A or B) are skipped because I have used "round.catIndex = j;" where "j" is a loop for each successive trial. Because some trials randomly select from Category A and other from Category B, "j" does not move successively down the list for each category. Instead, elements from the Category A list may be selected from something like 1, 2, 5, 8, 9, 10, and so on (it varies each time because of the randomization). To make a long story short(!), how do I create a counter that will work within the for-loop for each trial, so that every word and nonword from Category A and B, respectively, will be used for the lexical decision task? Everything I have tried thus far does not work properly or breaks the javascript entirely. Below is my code snippet and the full code is available at http://50.17.194.59/LDT/trunk/LDT.js.
