• ming 0.4.2 compilation errors on Ubuntu 12.04 when installing from source code

• setting apache to read from my user's directory.

  Hello, I have Centos 5 running Apache/2.2.3. Now the default folder is /var/www/html and whatever I put in it shows when I browse it from the web. Now I would like to to create a folder www under my user bob and have all files loaded from that folder; /home/bob/www When I change the document root folder in my httpd.config I get an 403 error, I have even tried with virtualhosts but the same error shows. Any ideas on what to do next?

  I have a VLC playlist (.xspf) of over a 100 songs all scattered all over my computer. I'm looking for a way to save this playlist and all it's songs to another folder - flash drive, external drive or just a different location in my computer. How can I do this? • Why isn't this driver install working (sudo code)?

  I have a soundcard that I'd like to use and I've been trying to install it and being a new Ubuntu user, I get about half way through this in the Terminal and it stops cooperating with me... See the link (soundcard hyperlink) but basically what I have here: I do the following and it works: sudo apt-get install subversion svn co https://line6linux.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/line6linux Change to the directory cd line6linux/driver/trunk Time to build from the source but first make sure you have the latest build and headers sudo apt-get install build-essential sudo apt-get install linux-headers Then after this point it says must specify file to install. Not sure how to do this or what it means. Cut, copy, paste? Seems like it's different from program to program. I was in the terminal and hit Ctrl-C and then Ctrl-Shift-V in Firefox and it won't paste. But in terminal it will paste.   I have been blogging on Weblogs.asp.net for a while now. I don't remember when actually i got a berth on to Weblogs. I think it was MS Joe – Joe Stagner way back somewhere in 2005 or sometime around that time frame (i don't remember the exact dates) that he had opened up weblogs.asp.net blog space. I remember sending an email to him and i had got a space for myself. So far weblogs has been a great starting platform for me. After close to a decade in the industry (this is my 9 year in the industry) i finally realized that i too can write and i have been lately passionate about writing. So far i just have 15 posts under my belt and close to 5 community speaking sessions. I have been lately enjoying writing and community things that i decided to have my own identity on the web. Yes i have purchased my own domain and i have taken up a hosting for my own blog. My new web identity would be 2 domains under my name – www.kashyapas.com and www.lohithgn.com. I will be discontinuing writing on weblogs.asp.net and will be fulltime at www.kashyapas.com. My RSS feed at weblogs.asp.net has been redirected to point to my new site. So whoever had subscribed to my RSS will still be getting the updated content from my new site. So do drop into my new home and let me know your feedback.   If you want to post to a facebook page using the Facebook Graph API and the Facebook C# SDK, from an "offline" app, there's a few steps you should be aware of. First, you need to get an access token that your windows service or app can permanently use. You can get this by visiting the following url (all on one line), replacing [ApiKey] with your applications Facebook API key. http://www.facebook.com/login.php?api_key=[ApiKey]&connect_display=popup&v=1.0 &next=http://www.facebook.com/connect/login_success.html&cancel_url=http://www.facebook.com/connect/login_failure.html &fbconnect=true&return_session=true&req_perms=publish_stream,offline_access,manage_pages&return_session=1 &sdk=joey&session_version=3 In the parameters of the URL you get redirected to, this will give you an access key. Note however, that this only gives you an access key to post to your own profile page. Next, you need to get a separate access key to post to the specific page you want to access. To do this, go to https://graph.facebook.com/[YourUserId]/accounts?access_token=[AccessTokenFromAbove] You can find your user id in the URL when you click on your profile image. On this page, you will then see a list of page IDs and corresponding access tokens for each facebook page. • subdomain/virtualhost problem on unix + apache

  Hello, I'm having a strangely difficult time setting up a subdomain (x.example.com). The main site works fine, but I get 404 errors attempting to hit x.example.com no matter how I set up the VirtualHost config. NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName www.example.com DocumentRoot /var/www/example.com/htdocs ServerAlias example.com </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName x.example.com ErrorLog /var/logs/x-error-log CustomLog /var/logs/x-access-log common DocumentRoot /var/www/x/htdocs </VirtualHost> As far as I can tell, this is a vanilla set up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

• AWS:EC2:: Why my web folder is called "html"??

  P.S Q stands for Question. My environment is: Amazon linux 64 bit (Q1. i dont if its ubuntu or red-hat, is there any way to check?) And I need to run php and mysql, thus I installed httpd (Q2. is httpd == apache??), but on my default page, it says: please upload files to /var/www/html folder. Q3.This is the first time I set aws ec2 server myself, my previous experience is hosting with hosting company. Normally in hosting company, my web directory is called "www" or "public_html" or "htdocs".Why is my folder name is "/var/www/html"? Am I installed wrong apache?

• Apache won't start after creating symbolic link

  I'm installing apache for the first time and trying to display some webpages on localhost. Apache's default path for serving web pages is /var/www/html/ but I don't have permissions to write there. Rather than change ownership of the entire directory, I decided to get rid of the /html/ folder in /var/www/ and created it in my home directory. Then I made a symbolic link ln -s /home/me/html/ /var/www/ hoping Apache would serve web pages from my home directory while keeping the default path and following the symbolic link to my home directory. When I go to start the apache service with service httpd start I get Job failed. See system journal and 'systemctl status' for details.

• Cron Permission Denied

  good day, I have a bash script in my home directory that works properly from the command line (file structure is default media temple DV. < noted for certain permission issues) but receive this error from cron: "/home/myFile.sh: line 2: /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/subdomains/techspatch/installation.sql: Permission denied" NOTICE: it's just line 2... it writes to the local server just fine. Below is the Bash File: #!/bin/bash mysqldump -uUSER -pPASSWORD -hHOST dbName> /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/subdomains/techspatch/installation.sql mysql -uadmin -pPASSWORD -hlocalhost dbName< /var/www/vhosts/domain.com/subdomains/techspatch/installation.sql can't chmod from bash (lol, yeah i tried). writing the file there and setting the permissions before the transfer is useless... i have googled the heck out of this situation and this one still seems unique.... any insight is appreciated

• Running CRON job on Ubuntu server for SugarCRM

  I am pretty inexperienced in Linux, so be descriptive on your answer. My environment: Local Linux server 12.04 hosting Sugar CRM 6.5.2. There is area in sugar CRM called scheduler. I can configured some predefined jobs here. in my case i am trying to run email reminders (ever min/hour/day/month). For this scheduler to be effective, i read some where i need to setup CRON job. So I did some research & finally put following lines in CRONTAB for the root user, as per instructions given in sugarCRM. * * * * * cd /var/www/crm; php -f cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1 Well I am creating contracts in my sugarCRM (AOS module) & I want email reminders to be sent for these contracts to the concern person. Now my sugarCRM email is configured correctly & I can send test emails using it. But the CRON + scheduler not giving any result. I can't receive any emails. Then I tried to read /var/log/syslog & it is showing entry for following line each minute. Oct 27 15:03:01 unicomm CRON[28182]: (root) CMD (cd /var/www/crm; php -f cron.php /dev/null 2&1) I've few questions: what does the CRON job line i've added in crontab mean? cd /var/www/crm; php -f cron.php > /dev/null 2>&1 is not making any sense to me. How am i suppose to get this thing work? I've searched a lot (including SugarCRM forum), but no luck.

• Mount shared folder (vbox) as another user

  I'm trying to mount my vbox shared folder every time my ubuntu starts. So, I added an entry on /etc/init with this: description "mount vboxsf Desktop" start on startup task exec mount -t vboxsf Desktop /var/www/shared Seems to work, except by the fact that all the files are owned by "root", and I don't have permission to write on the folder (neither chmod nor chown seems to be working). So, how can I make all the files under this shared folder to be owned by www-data user/group? Thanks ps.: The main reason for me to have an automatic shared folder, is so I can create/edit files from the HOST on the GUEST www folder. If you have a better idea for that, instead of sharing the folder, fell free to say.

  Welcome, Actually I'm doing some experiments on my VPS with Ubuntu. I've installed MaraDNS with Nginx. At this moment I've correctly launch static site which is available from Internet (maindomain.com). In next step I want to add new site which will be available in subdomain, for example dev.maindomain.com. I've tried to db.maindomain.com file (used by MaraDNS): maindomain.com. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx www.maindomain.com. CNAME maindomain.com. dev.maindomain.com. xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Where xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is VPS IP address. In nginx.conf I have: server { listen 80; server_name maindomain.com; access_log /var/log/nginx/maindomain.com.log location / { root /var/www/maindomain.com; index index.html; } } server { listen 80; server_name dev.maindomain.com; access_log /var/log/nginx/dev.maindomain.com.log location / { root /var/www/dev.maindomain.com; index index.html; } } With this configuration maindomain.com works properly, but dev.maindomain.com isn't available. When I try: ping dev.maindomain.com then I get my xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx IP. Do you have any suggestions how can I resolve this problem?

• windows 7 issues with local domain name

  Until recently my operating system was XP where for the purpose of development and testing of php and zen cart I set up xampp that included apache http server and mercury mail server I also made changes to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts as follows: 127.0.0.1 www.zen.com # For browser access 127.0.0.1 mail.mercury.com # For email access 127.0.0.1 mercury.com # For mercury mail server This allowed the use of www.zen.com in the address bar of my browser rather than 'localhost' and mail.mercury.com to access email via thunderbird. All was well. Then I installed windows7, I made all the mods and again everything appeared to run as expected.Then I turned off my wireless modem causing all working local connections to fail. Localhost in the address bar still works but not www.zen.com and thunderbird 'cannot find mail.mercury.com' Is there some way to overcome what ever is causing this.

• nginx regex locations w/ different roots not working as expected

  I have the following two rules: location / { root /var/www/default; } location ~* /myapp(.*)$ { root /home/me/myapp/www; try_files $uri $uri/ /handle.php?url=$uri&$args; } When I browse to myapp/foo it works- kind of, the error is logged as a 404: *3 open() "/var/www/default/handle.php" failed (2: No such file or directory) - so its handling the regex match but just not using the right document root-- why is this? For the record, I am trying to get /myapp/* requests handled by the second location, and everything else the first.

• Need assistance matching a general theme style as well as eCommerce capability

  I'm in the process of acquiring a new design client. They are getting into the business of "auto parts wholesaling" and they want a storefront. My preference is/was to create something from scratch. However, here is an established trend in their particular market (similar parts, layout, etc). They insist on following the existing visual trend, as per the following: http://www.xtremediesel.com/ http://www.thoroughbreddiesel.com/ http://www.alligatorperformance.com/ My plan of attack at this point is to find a comparable WP theme and a flexible (but useful) backend/product management. Their current demo site (which their previous developer made a stab at) is using Pinnacle Cart. It is no where near what they need, nor is it intuitive to work with. I was actually considering Magento for its greater abilities but I'm still considering options. That said, my two primary dilemmas are as follows: 1) I need a theme that mimics the general style of those listed. They explicitly said they didn't want anything too clean (e.g. ThemeForest, Woothemes) as it "wasn't rugged or busy looking enough" for their field. 2) I need a WP/Magento/WP e-Commerce (or any one of a host of other) plugin that will allow for bulk import/update of nearly 200,000 products, descriptions and images. I'm not opposed to manually interfacing with the DB for import, but in the end, I need a store/system that doesn't needlessly add 50 tables to accommodate some "wet behind the ears" concept of table normalization and is easy to add to. Anyway, if anyone has any quality suggestions regarding either of these issues, it would be most appreciated. Best.
