  • Child service not writing to event log

    I am having a very simple (but incredibly frustrating) issue with a parent service and the child service. Let's call the parent service "Service A" and the child "Service B". Both services reside on the same box. Using WCF Storm, when I send Service B a message, I see lots of entries in the event viewer for it. However, if I send a message to Service A, which calls Service B, I only see entries from Service A. So for some reason, the child logs are not written when the parent calls it, but if I call it myself, the logs do indeed show up, so I know it's not a problem with the logging or anything like that. Here is what I am using to write to the event log. // in some random static class private static EventLog el = new EventLog(); el.WriteEntry("In " + location + ", " + message); // params passed in Does anyone know why this is happening? And more importantly what I can do about it?

    Hi there! Can you please tell how to be properly displayed interstitial ads in iphone applications. I implemented this is exactly the same way as in Interstitials example (SDK Admob), but this always showing videos with zombies - so it should be, really? If I understand correctly, I should specify my own video url and it will be advertising? Perhaps, in addition, there is a way to not display video, but instead one large banner with advertising on the whole page? Thanks.

  • Querying my JPA provider (Hibernate) for a collection of <Id,Name> of an entity

    Hi, I have an entity which looks something like this: Id (PK) Name Other business properties and associations... I have the need for my DAL (JPA with hibernate as provider) to return a list of the entities which correlate to some constraints (or just return them all) but instead of returning the entities themselves I'd like to receive only the Id and the Name properties. I know this can be achieved with HQL/SQL (something like: select id,name from entity where...) but I don't want to go down that road. I was thinking of somehow defining the pair a compositioned part of the entity and thought that might help me but I'm not sure that's "legal" as the Id is the PK. The logic for this scenario is to have a textbox which asynchronously queries the web-service (and through it the DAL) for the relevant entities and once an entity is selected then it is loaded as a whole and shipped to the front-end.   • Using ffmpeg to cut up video

    I am using FFmpeg like this e.g.: ffmpeg -i input.wmv -ss 60 -t 60 -acodec copy -vcodec copy output.wmv to cut out a section of a large file. The -ss part works fine but the -t is ignored. That is, it correctly removes the first -ss seconds but then just keeps going to the end of the input with the copy. Is there a way to use FFmpeg to cut off the end of a video without recoding it?

    I'm executing the following query SELECT COUNT(*) FROM table WHERE field1='value' AND (field2 = 1000 OR field3 = 2000) There is one index over field1 and another composited over field2&field3. I see MySQL always selects the field1 index and then makes a join using the other two fields which is quite bad because it needs to join 146.000 rows. Suggestions on how to improve this? Thanks

    I am using Video For Window's AVIFile functions. When I use AVIFileOpen I notice that it uses the flag FILE_FLAG_NO_BUFFERING when creating the .avi file. ProcessMonitor shows the that file was created with "no buffering". This flag is causing performance issues and I was wondering if there is a way to use this function without that flag.

  • Android 3.2 HTTP streaming

    I'm trying to create an app to stream live TV. Currently the problem I'm facing is that after say 10 minutes of playing, the video will freeze but the audio will carry on. This is on a 1.3mbps stream. I also have lower streams, such as a 384kbps stream, that might last an hour or so, but will still do the same. I've tested this with a local video, that is high quality (file size is 2.3gb) and that has no lag and doesn't freeze at all, so it must be something to do with the way HLS is streamed to android. Does anyone have any idea on how to solve this problem? Thanks
