  • Repository vs Data Access

    Hi guys In the context of the n-tier application, is there a difference between what you would consider your data access classes to be and your repositories? I tend to think yes but I just wanted to see what other thought. My thinking is that the job of the repository is just to contain and execute the raw query itself, where as the data access class would create the context, execute the repository (passing in the context), handle mapping the data model to the domain model and return the result back up... What do you guys think? Also do you see any of this changing in a Linq to XML scenario (assuming that you change the context for the relevant XDocument)? Cheers Anthony

  • How do you splice out a part of an xvid encoded avi file, with ffmpeg? (no problems with other files

    Im using the following command, which works for most files, except what seems to be xvid encoded ones /usr/bin/ffmpeg -sameq -i file.avi -ss 00:01:00 -t 00:00:30 -ac 2 -r 25 -copyts output.avi So this should basically splice out 30 seconds of video + audio, starting from 1 minute mark. It does START encoding at the 00:01:00 mark but it goes all the way to the end of the file for some reason, ignoring that I want just 30 seconds. The output looks like this.     Hi, Hope my subject line was descriptive enough. Basically, I have a table called Students, and one called Absences. The Students table contains student information (Name, DOB, StudentID etc.), the Absences table contains any absences (Date, Reason, related by StudentID). I want to get a full list of the students, plus a count of their absences. Sample results would be: StudentName Absences ------------- ----------- Johnny 3 Mark 2 James 1 Anthony 0 Sharon 0 Can someone suggest a way I should tackle this problem?   • MSBuild Starter Kits - i.e. Copy and just start modding...

    Hi guys Just wondering if anyone knows if there are any MSBuild starter kits out there. What I mean by starter kits is that from the looks of it most builds to kinda the same sort of steps with minor changes here and there (i.e. most builds would run test, coverage, zip up the results, produce a report, deploy etc). Also what most people in general want from a CI build, test build, release build is mostly the same with minor changes here and there. Now don't get me wrong i think that most scripts are fairly different in the end. But I can't help but think that most start out life being fairly similar. Hence does anyone know of any "starter kits" that have like a dev/CI/test/release build with the common tasks that most people would want that you can just start changing and modifying?     Is there a simple way in MS Word to get large quotation marks tightly round a paragraph of text, like you might see in print media to mark a quote? If you simply increase the font size of the quote character, it moves too far away from the text it's accompanying. Worse, the first and last lines start to detach from the rest of the paragraph.   • MacOSX Dock - number of open windows?

    There is one big issue for me with Doc in OSX - it does not shows you if more than one window opened in application For example - I were browsing with firefox and some site opens a background window with some sounds - and I have no idea where it comes from - Dock does not tell you if some application opens more than one window.. Is there a way (or some application) that can add some mark to application icon in Dock if it has more than one window open?

Whole card is unusable (to trash, all data written to that sector now and in future will be lost) ? or rewrite sector (flash memory get corrupted when writing so maybe have any function to check if sector was written successfully) to another and mark as fault as unusable what will be seen as reduction of capacity but no data lost. I have to do some research about SD card-s on disk less machines. regards

    I have a server, and windows vista, 64-bit, 4gb ram. Sometimes the server randomly drops into the page file, and disconnects everyone who was online. Only after I click the cmd.exe window does it comes back out. How do I mark a program as not eligible for the page file?   • Hard Drive Bad Sector marking utility

    I already have Windows XP, During installing Ubuntu(dual boot) the disk drive just stuck up at one place and doesn't seem to move ahead.. Is there a disk bad sector mark utility that just marks these sectors so that the disk doesn't seek them later. I tried running Seagate Seatools on the drive but both the short test and long test fail even before they start even chkdsk /f/r doesn't seem to work as the system locks up at stage four.

I'm trying to execute the command from a machine running Windows XP Professional. Has anybody seen an issue like this?

  • Connecting Delphi to P/Invoke and .net

    The Delphi complier often uses a *.Dll when a special delivery of code info is required to the complier/editor:- example bourland.dll is the memory manager for the Delphi complier, as I remember. And their are many other *.dll's that Embarcoo keep secret that do other things. Is their anything you know that is public information on this subject .net's un managed code could be declared in a *.pas file as a decelerations but the only way to communicate it out is calling *.dll's like P/Invoke I have ilasm.exe and ildasm.exe and a decomplier into Delphi asm code now but still getting around to learn how to use them all yet. I do not have any reference material/editorials on P/invoke at all as I cannot find anything With that I will have a good concrete plan to make a good result I do not know what *.DLL's are in P/Invoke. Do you have any documentation. I do not have any reference material/editorials on ADO.net. The Dlls that are called and any referqance matrial I could use. Best regards, J Lex Dean.

    Some of the files I copy to a USB stick seems to be corrupted? Maybe the stick is bad but I haven't used it much and want to know for sure. Is there a Windows utility to test the stick? Mark bad areas as bad so the file system doesn't save to them? I format before I copy but I still get corrupted files? Does chkdsk work on USB sticks reliably?

  • Is there a convention for organizing the include/exports in a large C++ project ?

    Hello, In a large C++ solution, is there a best/standard way to separate the include files necessary to build an intermediary DLL and the include files which will be used by the DLL clients ? We have grouped all the include files in a folder called Interface (for DLL interface), but there the customers have to either include the Interface folder as a default include folder or type the full name as: #include "ProjectName/Interface/myinterface.h" Wouldn't it be better to create a separate folder called exports where I would create a folder called ProjectName and put the include files there ? So that the customers would be typing: #include "ProjectName/myinterface.h" If I do the thing right above, then should I keep the files within the solution and produce a post build event (I use Visual Studio 2k5) to copy the files into the "export" folder (/ProjectName/) ? Or is it better to just include directly the files from this folder within my project (this is more direct and has less chances to cause maintenance issues ? I am more looking for advice than for a definite solution. Thank you for reading this ! Anthony

  • Notepad++ highlight transparency

    I use dark themes and when I select a word, Notepad++ highlights all the occurences of that word in the current document. But the highlight color for matches other than the current word is somehow blended with the background and the highlighted text is not as clearly visible as it could be. The same thing happens when using "Find all" option in the Find dialog to mark the occurences. Is there a way to change this behavior such that the matched text has the same (full) opacity as the selected text?

    Howdy, So I've got a simple table with an ID field that's incrementally generated on INSERT. I've set the mapping up in NHibernate to reflect this: <id name="ID"> <generator class="identity" /> </id> And it all works fine. Trouble is, I need to get the generated ID after I've saved a new model to use elsewhere: var model = new MyModel(); session.SaveOrUpdate(model); But at this stage model.ID == null, not the ID.   • Imagecache, Views, file renaming, and output directories

    I have been trying to figure this one out for awhile and just seem to be getting myself deeper into a rabbit hole.. I think it would be best if I would just explain what I am trying to accomplish and go from there.. Essentially what I would like to happen is a user would upload a photograph from the filefield sources on a content type, and then using views, it would output that different image through different imagecache actions.. The problem seems to be that the actual directories it is making is really cluttered and I would like it to be a little bit more organized due to some file renaming. Here is how I would like the process to happen: Upload image.jpg Imagecache resize 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-100.jpg Imagecache desaturate 100x100 square and save file to same directory and name the file image-d-100.jpg Currently it seems that every imagecache action will save that file in its own directory.. How can I specify a more customized output? Thanks, Anthony
