• SuexecUserGroup not working in Apache 2.4

  I have upgraded my PHP from version 5.3 to 5.4 via yum which requires upgrading Apache from version 2.2 to 2.4. • check_postgres_checkpoint plugin error

  I am using the check_postgres.pl plugin for Nagios. I am trying to monitor how long since the last checkpoint has been run using the check_postgres_checkpoint option. When I run the command from CLI as root I am getting the output but I am not able to get the output in the Nagios web interface. The error which it shows is, ERROR: pg_controldata could not read the given data directory: "/opt/PostgreSQL/9.1/data" It is trying to access the pg_control file in the 'global' directory present beneath the data directory which has only read access to the postgres user. Can anyone please suggest me how this can be resolved ? Thanks.

• Have Microsoft changed how ASP.NET MVC deals with duplicate action method names?

  I might be missing something here, but in ASP.NET MVC 4, I can't get the following to work. Given the following controller: public class HomeController : Controller { public ActionResult Index() { return View(); } [HttpPost] public ActionResult Index(string order1, string order2) { return null; } } and it's view: @{ ViewBag.Title = "Home"; } @using (Html.BeginForm()) { @Html.TextBox("order1")<br /> @Html.TextBox("order2") <input type="submit" value="Save"/> } When start the app, all I get is this: The current request for action 'Index' on controller type 'HomeController' is ambiguous between the following action methods: System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Index() on type ViewData.Controllers.HomeController System.Web.Mvc.ActionResult Index(System.String, System.String) on type ViewData.Controllers.HomeController Now, in ASP.NET MVC 3 the above works fine, I just tried it, so what's changed in ASP.NET MVC 4 to break this? OK there could be a chance that I'm doing something silly here, and not noticing it. EDIT: I notice that in the MVC 4 app, the Global.asax.cs file did not contain this: public static void RegisterRoutes(RouteCollection routes) { routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}"); routes.MapRoute( "Default", // Route name "{controller}/{action}/{id}", // URL with parameters new { controller = "Home", action = "Index", id = UrlParameter.Optional } // Parameter defaults ); } which the MVC 3 app does, by default. Note that the modem is currently able to display its configuration page at 169.254.1.1, i.e. even while it is in bridge mode.

( please see the below screen-shot for your reference ) Can you please guide, what problem can i face if i kept my configuration in this way. but i am wondering, can this setting can create a problem? because the computer will be able to reach corp.abc.com easily, with the help of host file.

  We use StoneEdge Order Manager, which runs under Microsoft Access, on several Windows computers as well as through Terminal Services on Windows Server 2008. Terminal Services users are unable to process credit cards using the First Data Global Gateway on the server. We have followed the necessary setup instructions provided under the user account, which involves adding a certificate in the Internet Options control panel. The Windows XP desktops require this to be done, or a generic 'unable to connect' message is shown when attempting to charge a card. On the server, this message is shown regardless of whether the certificate has been installed. Is there anything else that needs to be done that is specific to Windows Server that is not mentioned in the workstation instructions? Setup Instructions

• Why is my Windows XP not allowing me to turn on sounds?

  This started to happen few weeks ago: Every time I start up Windows, the global sound volume is set to muted. I was able to just click the muted button to un-muted and that was fine, until now: Now I cant even click that unmute button! Every time I click the unmute button, I hear a split of a second the music I play, then it stops immediately. It is maybe 10 milliseconds until it mutes it again. In theory I could write a program to click that button continuously, but is there another solution to fix this? Or is this a broken hardware problem and Windows knows it and therefore doesn't allow me to enable sounds or my computer would break apart? Any ideas what could be causing this? A weird virus that's purpose is to piss me off? That weird this whole issue is, really, doesn't make any sense at all.

  The title is kind of self explanatory, as my new laptop lags and has FPS drops. For example my FPS in Starcraft 2 hovers around 20 and constantly drops to 1 with low settings when I know it should run smoothly in high settings. I've updated my Nvidia driver, and set the preferred global settings to the 'High-performance Nvidia processor'. Here are some screen shots.   Before Windows 8, the Alt+Shift shortcut changed the input method (keyboard layout) for the current app. This permitted to map an input method to each app. For example I could keep the default layout for my apps where I write in english and switch to a french layout in apps where I write in french. This was working great: each app had his keyboard layout. Now with Windows 8 the Alt+Shift key has a global behavior for all applications. This meens I have to change my input method almost each time I change from app to app. Is there a way to restore the pre-Windows-8 behavior? Or is there another shortcut?

• Config Time Service on Server 2008 DC using Group Policy Only

  I want to configure the Time Service using only GP in a Server 2008 R2 domain. I have created a GP as follows: Computer Config, Policies, Administrative Templates, System, Windows Time Policy: =Global Configuration Settings -Enabled w/ default settings. Computer Config, Policies, Administrative Templates, System, Windows Time Policy,Time Providers: =Configure Windows NTP Client -Enabled w/ default settings. =Enable Windows NTP Client -Enabled w/ default settings. =Enable Windows NTP Server -Enabled w/ default settings. The policy is linked, enforced and applied to Domain Controllers OU. The GP modeling results shows the policy is in effect on the DC (Single DC domain) and the DC is recognized as the PDC emulator. I have run gpupdate /force and logged off/on. The issue is that the DC shows the time source as internal. I understand I can force this at the cmd line using w32tm to set the peer but I would like to understand what is missing in the GP. The default NTP Client GP setting includes time.windows.com,0x9 as the source but it does not appear to be taking effect.

• What do I need to do if I want all typeof(MyEnum)'s to be handled with MyEnumModelBinder?

  I have an Enum that appears in several of my models. For the most part, the DefaultModelBinder handles binding to my models beautifully. That it, until it gets to my Enum... it always returns the first member in the Enum no matter what is handed it by the POST. My googling leads me to believe I need to have a model binder that knows how to handle Enums. I found an excellent article on a possible custom modelBinder for Enums: http://eliasbland.wordpress.com/2009/08/08/enumeration-model-binder-for-asp-net-mvc/. I've since implemented that modelBinder and registered it in my global.asax: ModelBinders.Binders[typeof (MyEnum)] = new EnumBinder<MyEnum>(MyEnum.MyDefault); For some reason, the EnumBinder< isn't being called when the model I'm binding to has MyEnum. I have a breakpoint in the .BindModel() method and it never break. Also, my model hasn't changed after modelBinding. Have I done everything? What am I missing here?

  I'm using a VPN in conjunction with my iPad (no OpenVPN sorry!) so have just configured the Windows 7 PPTP VPN and i've got it working fine. However what I need to know is will it force my iPad to use the global DNS settings configured in Windows, or will it use the DNS settings i've set on my iPad? I've got unblock-us at home and would like to use it on my iPad while i'm away. Since unblock-us uses IP addresses it wouldn't work on my iPad outside of my home network, hence the use of a VPN ;) The only issue is I don't want to use unblock-us DNS's on my Windows box, only on my iPad

Our goal is to create an auto-responder rule, or template that fires at sender. I have created a mail-enabled public folder, with owner permissions for each group member. I have also set up a rule template (response) and I am a little unclear as to the send as permission set, or where to set that up. Can someone please tell me if I am on the right track? • How can you get MySQL statistics for a specific user?

  I've searched Google for a while on this and I'm not sure if it is easily or directly possible. I'm hosting a database on my cPanel server for a client which is accessed from their main website. As a result, I can't find a way to determine what amount of resources they are using. As there aren't any files under their account, cPanel reports the bandwidth at zero. I do know the stat programs don't monitor MySQL and that MySQL has a global statistics page that reports all usage on the server.

• Login fails when recreating database with Code First

  I'm using ASP.NET Entity Framework's Code First to create my database from the model, and the login seems to fail when the database needs to be recreated after the model changes. In Global.asax, I've got the following: protected void Application_Start() { Database.SetInitializer(new DropCreateDatabaseIfModelChanges<EntriesContext>()); // ... } In my controller, I've got the following: public ActionResult Index() { // This is just to force the database to be created var context = new EntriesContext(); var all = (from e in context.Entries select e).ToList(); } When the database doesn't exist, it is created with no problems. However, when I make a change to the model, rebuild and refresh, I get the following error: Login failed for user 'sa'. My connection string looks like this: <add name="EntriesContext" connectionString="Server=(LOCAL);Database=MyDB;User Id=sa;Password=password" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient" /> The login definitely works as I can connect to the server and the database from Management Studio using these credentials. If I delete the database manually, everything works correctly and the database is recreated as expected with the schema reflecting the changes made to the model. It seems like either the password or access to the database is being lost. Is there something else I need to do to get this working?

• Firefox 11.0 Right-Click Dropdown Menu (and Menu Options at Window Top) Flickering - Potential Bug?

  About a week ago my Windows 7 machine starting exhibiting odd Firefox behavior. When I right click on something the drop-down menu flickers and when the mouse is hovering over a field, I can't really see it. This same behavior happens in other ways too, like in the top File, Edit , View, etc menus. I click them and they flicker, when I hover over them, and then they get obscured when I hover over the one I want. I did some research and didn't really find anything. Some people found similar behavior in applications THEY were building. But mine is a global problem. Happens on all sites, as far as I can tell. This is why I suspect it's my Firefox installation. I thought about reinstalling, but if there was another option, I'd like to explore that too. The behavior is not really capture-able, so I don't have anything except words to describe it. This seems like it should be a pretty straight forward procedure, especially if I just want to add a global application and not segment out by groups. I've looked through the docs, but they are a mess and answer most questions except for this. If you're going to post a RTFM answer, at least please provide link and location because I have looked. • Should I install an AV product on my domain controllers?

  Should I run a server-specific antivirus, regular antivirus, or no antivirus at all on my servers, particularly my Domain Controllers? Here's some background about why I'm asking this question: I've never questioned that antivirus software should be running on all windows machines, period. Lately I've had some obscure Active Directory related issues that I have tracked down to antivirus software running on our domain controllers. The specific issue was that Symantec Endpoint Protection was running on all domain controllers. Occasionally, our Exchange server triggered a false-positive in Symantec's "Network Threat Protection" on each DC in sequence. After exhausting access to all DCs, Exchange began refusing requests, presumably because it could not communicate with any Global Catalog servers or perform any authentication. Outages would last about ten minutes at a time, and would occur once every few days. It took a long time to isolate the problem because it was not easily reproducible and generally investigation was done after the issue resolved itself.

Specifically, for my WAMP server, I want to change the permissions of my "www" folder so that its contents can be viewed over the Internet, and I want all of its subfolders to have the same permissions. Currently, for each folder, I'm getting the following message in my browser: "You don't have permission to access / on this server." I believe there's a simple command I could enter in a terminal for recursively changing folder permissions for global access; I just don't know what it is.

  In Global.asax handle errors by trying to redirect users to another page without changing the url in the address bar, that's why I am using RewritePath and not Redirect. void Application_Error(object sender, EventArgs e) { // Code that runs when an unhandled error occurs Context.RewritePath("~/Error.aspx", false); } Error.apsx in same root folder as About.aspx, and Default.aspx pages which of course work. Not sure I am having this issue. Have the following web.config file settings that I thought may be relevant: IIS7 settings: Application "TestRewriteUrl" under Default Web Site on DefaultAppPool. This example my seem trivial but I cannot use IIS7 HTTP Redirect as I actually was using this example to keep it simple. What I want to ultimately do is have a user type in http://www.somesite.com/myownpage and have it rewrite the path to another page in the same application directory by looking up the "myownpage" in the database to see what database id they have and redirect them to the correct "microsite" based on that without the user noticing a url change. Kind of like when you go to a blogging engine and no matter where in your blog you go the url remains the same. I don't want the user to go from http://www.mysite.com/tomshardware to http://www.mysite.com?id=8734656856. So that is why I used the simply example above to try and understand why the rewrite path does not work.
