  • JS - Dynamic div content, but need a fixed div height.

    - by Joey Morani
Hello. I'm using javascript to animate a div collapsing/sliding. The javascript requires the div to have a set height, although the content inside the div is dynamic. How would I go about making it work, as I don't want the div to be any larger than it's meant to. I've set the height of the div like this: <div id="main-div" style="overflow:hidden; height:95px;"> I've tried setting the height to 'auto' but when the div slides open again, it doesn't slide to the correct height. Would I need to calculate the height? Thanks.

  • How to nest a form in an ASP.NET page (which has a form wrapped around it)

    - by Josh
I am writing HTML to an ASP.NET page (from a web service response), and the HTML has tags. Unfortunately, because the ASP.NET page already has a wrapped around it, a lot of the buttons on the page break. Does anyone know how I can nest the form inside the ASP.NET page without breaking the top-level form? Note: the HTML I am bringing in is a form with a bunch of hidden fields inside of it, and it has to be placed within the ASP.NET page, and thus nested in the top-level form. Thanks

  • Stretch image to fill div, but not skew

    - by z0mbieParade
I'm trying to make an image stretch to fit inside a div. However I want it to overflow so that the entire div is filled. The div resizes with the page. I want an effect similar to the jQuery bgstretcher plugin (http://www.ajaxblender.com/bgstretcher-2-jquery-stretch-background-plugin-updated.html) , but I cannot use that plugin because I'm already using it for the background image on the page, and it seems to not work when you try and activate multiple instances of it. So what I'm asking is for some sort of simple jQuery function that resizes an image to completely fill a div with overflow hidden, so that there are no gaps, but without skewing the image. Edit: http://jsfiddle.net/R7UCZ/ That's sort of what I'm after, but I want the image to fill the entire div without skewing. If the image goes out of the div a bit, that's fine, but I need it to resize with the div, which resizes with the page, both height and width.

  • Show/hide using jQuery cookies

    - by Dilwin
    So I've created a simple tip box that fades in on page load, with an option to close the box. I'm trying to make the box hidden if the visitor clicks the close link. I'm fairly new to cookies, so I'm probably doing it all wrong, but this is what I have: $('#close').click(function(e) { jQuery.cookie('tip', 'hide', cookieOpts); $(this).parent('div.tip').fadeOut(1000); e.preventDefault(); }); jQuery.cookie('tip', 'show', cookieOpts); $('.tip').delay(500).fadeIn(1000); var shouldShow = jQuery.cookie('tip') == 'show'; var cookieOpts = {expires: 7, path: '/'}; if( shouldShow ) { $('.tip').delay(500).fadeIn(1000); } else { $('.tip').css('display', 'none'); }

  • Class architecture, no friends allowed

    - by Captain Comic
    The question of why there are no friends in C# has been extensively discussed. I have the following design problems. I have a class that has only one public function AddOrder(Order ord). Clients are allowed to call only this function. All other logic must be hidden. Order class is listening to market events and must call other other function of TradingSystem ExecuteOrder, so I have to make it public as well. Doing that I will allow clients of Trading system to call this function and I don't want that. class TradingSystem { // Trading system stores list of orders List<Order> _orders; // this function is made public so that Order can call ir public ExecuteOrder(Order ord) { } // this function is made public for external clients public AddOrder(OrderRequest ordreq) { // create order and pass it this order.OnOrderAdded(this); } } class Order { TradingSystem _ts; public void OnOrderAdded(TradingSystem ts) { _ts = ts; } void OnMarketEvent() { _ts.ExecuteOrder() } }

  • What action is my Symfony/Doctrine generated form actually going to?

    - by Arms
In my Symfony 1.4 project I am using the doctrine:generate-admin task to create the modules that compose my backend system. One such module is "journeys". When I view the source of the "journeys/new" page (which displays the form to create a new journey entity) the action of the form is simply "journeys" (I expected it to be "journeys/create"). The "journeys" route on its own would call the executeIndex method - however I put a log call in there and upon form submission, the log is not made. So this leads me to believe that executeIndex is NOT being called, and another piece of code is being fired upon form submission that then (depending on a hidden input in the form) calls either executeCreate() or executeUpdate(). Problem is, I don't know where that would be happening. Any insight would be much appreciated. I don't if this is relevant, but here is the routing definition for the journeys module journey: class: sfDoctrineRouteCollection options: model: journey module: journeys prefix_path: /journeys column: id with_wildcard_routes: true Thanks!

  • Name Value Pairs in a ComboBox

    - by JamesB
I'm convinced this must be a common problem, but I can't seem to find a simple solution... I want to use a combobox control with name value pairs as the items. ComboBox takes TStrings as its items so that should be fine. Unfortunately the drawing method on a combobox draws Items[i] so you get Name=Value in the box. I'd like the value to be hidden, so I can work with the value in code, but the user sees the name. Any Ideas?

  • Toggled() text input field not working in IE6 in Jquery 1.3.2

    - by Michal
In IE6 after showing() or toggling() an initially hidden text input field it is impossible to enter any text in the box. It is also impossible to focus() on the element. I am using jquery 1.3.2 Here is the code... • jQuery toggle show XHTML Smarty some clahes maybe? It doesn't show..

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Hi, at this page new customer, there is something that it doesn't like, my boss asked me to make a show function that shows the new customer registration when the user clicks on the "ny kunde" button. Here is an example of the code I got working (I'm a jQuery noob). I guess there is some clash between this and the functions already installed on the page, but what? #roundbigboxnykunde is meant to be hidden on the page as on the jsfiddle example, but I have shown it to let you see what else is on the page. Code on my .tpl <button id="button1">&nbsp;</button> {literal} <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-latest.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { //checkbox $("#button1").click(function()1 $(".newCustomer").toggle("show"); }); });? </script> {/literal} <div class="newCustomer">... Thanks.

  • how to access jquery internal data?

    - by Unknown
As you may or may not be aware as of jQuery 1.7 the whole event system was rewritten from the ground up. The codebase is much faster and with the new .on() method there is a lot of uniformity to wiring up event handlers. One used to be able to access the internal events data and investiate what events are registered on any given element, but recently this internal information has been hidden based on the following scenario... It seems that the "private" data is ALWAYS stored on the .data(jQuery.expando) - For "objects" where the deletion of the object should also delete its caches this makes some sense. In the realm of nodes however, I think we should store these "private" members in a separate (private) cache so that they don't pollute the object returned by $.fn.data()" Although I agree with the above change to hide the internal data, I have found having access to this information can be helpful for debugging and unit testing. What was the new way of getting the internal jquery event object in jQuery 1.7?

  • WPF/XAML - compare the "SelectedIndex" of two comboboxes (DataTrigger?)

    - by Luaca
hello, i've got two comboboxes with the same content. the user should not be allowed to choose the same item twice. therefore the comboboxes' contents (= selectedindex?) should never be equal. my first attempt was to comapare the selectedindex with a datatrigger to show/hide a button: <DataTrigger Binding="{Binding ElementName=comboBox1, Path=SelectedIndex}" Value="{Binding ElementName=comboBox2, Path=SelectedIndex}"> <Setter Property="Visibility" Value="Hidden" /> </DataTrigger> it seems that it is not possible to use Value={Binding}. is there any other way (if possible without using a converter)? thanks in advance!

  • Javascript/Jquery - Reset text box view area after tab

    - by JK
I don't know what this is called so its hard to google for it. If you have a plain html input type=text with a small width eg 20 and then type more characters than can be displayed, it shows the last characters you type. And the first ones are scrolled out of view: This is my long text // this is the whole string my long string // this is what is actually visible in the input box How do I make it so that when you hit tab, the view area resets so that the start of the string is visible and the end is hidden? my long string // this is what is visible in the input box when typing This is my // this is what is I want to be visible in the input box after you hit tab What do you call this, and how do you do it?

  • converting a form from text to textarea

    - by David Cook
I have a form created to pull PHP values into my database. I created the form with all type="text" constructions. What follows is the code that used to set up the input of data and confirmed that it is functional. <label>About Me: <input type="text" name="BIO_info"/></label> I converted the input to a textarea and adjusted some parameters for proper display. Unfortunately, it has broken the ability for the script to function. What follows is the code I wrote to convert and store from a text area input. <label for="BIO_info" style=" margin-bottom: 500px; margin-top: 2000px; ">About Me: <textarea name="BIO_info" rows="20" cols="60" style="resize: none; overflow-y: hidden;vertical-align:middle;"></textarea> <p> I would appreciate any suggestions.

  • user registeration form without captcha?

Hi, I was trying to sign-up Twitter today and I noticed that their registration form does not have a captcha. The form URL is https://twitter.com/signup. I also noticed that they used an input like below. <input name="authenticity_token" type="hidden" value="ce803cee65a96aaa97bdf75da166599c3adc9ec8" /> what kind of method is this? Do they create a temp value in their database when a user access the registration form? and check it when a user submit the form?

  • z index background issue in IE

    - by Michael
I have a jQuery tools scroller set up with controls managing two separate divs of info - one images, the other related text that needs to sit over the top of the images with a transparent bg image. I am using z-indexing to achieve this and am aware of IE's issues with this but am unable to sort it (tested in IE6-8). Image of the issue below: http://test.shakingpaper.com.au/not_working.png It seems that the overlayed div is taking on the containers white. Try as I might, I can't resolve this. • IE6 forces Two clicks to trigger javascript style=display:inline; event

    - by JiminyCricket
I have a web form that has 2 radio buttons, depending on which one is clicked it displays a hidden element This works fine in all browsers except for IE6, which, after I click on the radio button, I have to click again (anywhere on the window) and then the element is displayed...has anyone had behavior like this before? I tried to not use jQuery and do straight getElementById() but I get the same behavior... JSCRiPT function showHidden(divid) { $('#'+divid).css( {'display':'inline'} ); } HTML <input type=radio name=borp value=1 onChange='showHidden("brandchecks")' > Brand <input type=radio name=borp value=2 onChange='showHidden("productchecks")' > Product <div id='brandchecks' style='display:none;'> Blah </div> <div id='productchecks' style='display:none;'> Blah </div>

  • ASP.net hiding panel using javascript

    - by Zaps
Hi, I have a radioButtonList with 2 items in it. A radiobutton with a "Yes" value and a radionButton with a "No" value. • Using a single PHP script for an entire site

    - by briggins5
I had an idea today (that millions of others have probably already had) of putting all the sites script into a single file, instead of having multiple, seperate ones. When submitting a form, there would also be a hidden field called something like 'action' which would represent which function in the file would handle it. I know that things like Code Igniter and CakePHP exist which help seperate/organise the code. Is this a good or bad idea in terms of security, speed and maintenance? Do things like this already exist that i am not aware of?

  • How should my main web application (A) securely retrieve data from my content storage web applicatio

    - by fonacule
I have two web applications (A) and (B). (A) is my primary web application. (B) is purely for content storage, such as file uploads by users of (A). What's best way to securely retrieve data from (B) into (A) but in a way that does not expose the data in (B) to potential discovery by third-parties over the public internet or nosy users of (A)? For example, if I use a HTML form POST from (A) to (B) to retrieve user data, and have a hidden form field called user_id=1, then someone could simply change this to user_id=2 and see the content owned by another user of the application. That would be a problem.

  • PHP sleep accuracy

    - by Abs
Hello all, I use the following code to see how long a user is on a particular page. I use a hidden image with a src attribute to this script: $timer_seconds = 1; while(!connection_aborted()) { echo "\n"; flush(); sleep(1); $timer_seconds++; } I sometimes find this can be off by 5-10 seconds! I am guessing its the load of the server that effects the timing?? Is there anyway I can make this accurate? Thanks all for any help.

  • Post data with jQuery to ASP.net, am I doing this secure enough?

    - by Wim Haanstra
For a website I am building, I am using jQuery to post data to Generic Handlers I created for this purpose. Because you need to be logged in, to do most post actions (like 'rate a picture'), I am currently using the following technique: User visits page Page determines if user is logged in On Page_Load the page fills a hidden field with an encrypted string, which contains several needed variables, like User ID, Picture ID (of the picture they are currently viewing), the DateTime when the page was rendered. When the user clicks a "I like this picture"-button, I do a $.ajax post to my Generic Handler, with the encrypted string and the value whether or not they liked the picture. The Generic Handler decrypts the supplied encrypted string and takes a look at the DateTime to determine if it was not too long ago When everything works out, the vote is submitted to the database. In my understanding this is a pretty secure way to handle a situation like this. But maybe I am missing a very important point here. Any advice would be very welcome.

  • jQuery inline text scrolling/rotating/carousel effect

    - by Adam Pope
I trying to create an animation with JQuery that scrolls 1 word in a sentence. For example, I am a nice sententce of text with a MAGIC word in it OTHER HIDDEN WORDS After a second or so, MAGIC would move upwards and OTHER would scroll into view. I've tried playing with a few carousel plugins but I can't seem to get the effect working. Some seem to have so many nested divs that they refuse to display inline, others have issues when one word is longer than another. Does anybody know of a plugin that could make this possible? Is this even possible?
