• Jquery/CSS help needed to make fallback for IE and older browsers

  Wondering if any of you can help me: I've made a signup modal that uses a CSS transform to switch between two methods of signing up. I've decided to try a 'card flip' type effect. Have a look at this JSfiddle in any browser that supports CSS 3D transforms - click the 'old fashioned way' text to 'flip' the modal (simplified for demo purposes): http://jsfiddle.net/voodoo6/cnTMz/8/ Then take a look in IE8/9 - as the 'back' is taller than the front and IE does;t support 'backface-visibility: hidden;' the reverse can be seen below the front. I've been trying to use JQuery and conditional CSS to 'display:none' the 'back' on load in IE (and older browsers), then add a 'display:block;' class to show it on click, problem is, I'm a JQuery beginner and have been struggling to get it to work! Not even sure if this is the best approach? Can anybody suggest an approach that would get this working in less-capable browsers? Thanks for any advice..

• How to get rid of "d»z" or "" characters

  I have website based on Umbraco 5. I have installed contact form plugin (http://cultivjupitercontact.codeplex.com/). And on the web page at the end of this contact form there are always characters "d»z". It looks like that: ... <input type="submit" value="Send" /> </fieldset> <input name='uformpostroutevals' type='hidden' value='somevalue' /></form>d»z I suspect there is something wrong with encoding. I have tried to change it(to ANSI or UTF-8 without BOM but it didn't helped. Perhaps I have changed it in wrong file, cause I don't really know where exactly this 'd»z'is coming from. All I know it came with this plugin. On different server those extra characters are "". How can I get rid of those extra characters? Any help much appreciated!

  I have a class that extends the Thread class and has its run method implemented as so. public void run(){ while(!terminate){ if(paused){ Thread.yield(); }else{ accummulator++; } } } This thread is spawned from the onCreate method. When my UI is hidden (when the Home key is pressed) my onPause method will set the paused flag to true and yield the tread. However in the DDMS I still see the uTime of the thread accumulate and its state as "running". So my question is. What is the proper way to stop the thread so that it does not use up CPU time?

  When creating an entity framework model from scratch it is possible to specify a Many to Many relationship in the model. e.g Entity1 * ----- * Entity2 When a database is then generated from this, a resolver table is then created automatically between the two entities, this is hidden in the code model, allowing direct access to each of the entities via properties. e.g. Entity1 ----* ResolverEntity *----- Entity2 My question is, when a model is generated from an existing database, which contains resolver tables, is it possible to create the same effect so the resolver tables do not appear in the generated object model? When I have attempted this, the entity framework appears to create entities in the model for the resolver tables with no obvious way of hiding them in the object model. Thanks.

  Hi, I'm refactoring some specs, in controller specs I have a before(:each) which sets up things required in the session my before filter is... config.before(:each, :type => :controller) do ... session[:current_user] = @user session[:instance] = @instance ... end @user and @instance are also set in the before(:each) i've just hidden them for readability here I get the following error when running the controller tests undefined method `session' for nil:NilClass I would expect the global before callbacks to have the same things as the ones in the individual tests but I guess maybe they are loaded before the rails environment has been initialised? I want the image to be in the html to avoid multiple h3 classes as this is being done for a portfolio and there will be about 10 h3 tags on the page.   I'm trying to create hidden iframes in my page dynamically to load 3 other pages so that i can grab all the HTML and combine them into 1 in a new window. However i'm stuck at this. tHe frames are created fine. • big background without scrolls

  I have layout that has wider background picture than the content area. I have made 970ppx wrapper where the content is. And in body I have backgroud image but I need to have anothen background image above of tht body background image so I have made class bgimg. So basically the markup is like this: But the bgimg is about 1050px wide and thus it gives scrolls when users browser is 1024x768. Is there way of getting rid the scrolls? I mean I want to have have scrollbars if users browrser is narrower thant the 970x wrapper of course. So can I put something like overflow hidden for bgimg class? Hopefully you did understannd what I mean.

• Firefox 3.03 and contentEditable

  I'm using the contentEditable attribute on a DIV element in Firefox 3.03. Setting it to true allows me to edit the text content of the DIV, as expected. Then, when I set contentEditable to "false", the div is no longer editable, also as expected. However the flashing caret (text input cursor) remains visible even though the text is no longer editable. The caret is now also visible when I click on most other text in the same page, even in normal text paragraphs. Has anyone seen this before? Is there any way to force the caret hidden? (When I either resize the browser or click within another application, and come back, the caret magically disappears.)

  Before you say "oh no, not again" here I'm stating my case. I'm parsing part of HTML output and the only thing I'm interested in is name and value attributes of each <input/ tag. HTML is actually HTML fragment, may not be well-formed. I don't have DOM or HTML parser and I don't try to parse nested elements anyway. The problem is that I don't know the order or number of attributes so it could be <input name="foo" value="boo"/> or <input type="hidden" name=foo> or <input id=blah value='boo' src="image.png" name="foo" type="img"/>. Is there a single regular expression that would get me values of name and value attribute in predictable order? I wouldn't have asked the question if I could assume that name attribute always precedes value but unfortunately this is not the case

• Alternative way to notify the user of an error

  I have a winform software that communicates with hardware through a protocol. Sometimes error in communication happens and i would like to notify the user. Errors could be for example: timeouts, crc errors, physical disconnection etc... I have a communication window in which i show these errors, but by default this is hidden. The user can open it though the menubar. Popups are annoying to the user (and to myself) so i would like a un-invasive way to notify the user that an error has occurred. Perhaps a info bubble like when XP tells you updates are ready for your computer? I know that NotifyIcon can help put things in the system tray, which i do not wish to have. I'd rather keep it within my MDI. I'm open to other creative ideas as well.

  Hi All, I have a textbox, a button and a "AdvancedSearch" link on my aspx page. On page load, the focus is set to the textbox. On click of the "AdvancedSearch" link, a lightbox(overlay) window will be opened. I want to set focus to a textbox present within this lightbox window. I am using javascript to achieve this. The code looks somewhat like this: if( element.type != "hidden" && element.style.display != "none" && !element.disabled ) { element.focus(); return; } when the lightbox window loads, i get a javascript error - "Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus" Any idea why this error is thrown and why it is not able to set focus to the textbox in the lightbox window?   Hello all, I'm having a bit of a problem with this code. The program gives me a list of checkboxes but a user ID. then u user can change his selection and push the save button (id="btnSaveUserIntersts") and i am trying to save in the hidden textbox all the values of the checkboxes that was choosen. The problem is that i am getting all the time the same selections that came form the database and not getting the new selection that the user made.
