• Problem in doing Add Web Reference (http://.../service.asmx)

  I am trying to Add a Web Reference to http//.../service.asmx file in my project. First it gives me an error: "... Unable to download following files from: http://.../service.asmx?wsdl Do you want to skip these files and continue ..." When i click 'Yes', the proxy gets created with .disco and other reference files, but does not adds .wsdl file. Other option i tried, i used http//.../service.asmx?wsdl to add web reference. In this case, i dont get any error, but the proxy gets added with .wsdl and reference files, but it does not adds .disco file. Can someone help me on why this is happening? I thought, adding web reference to .asmx should add everything under the proxy.

• How to Fix my jQuery code in IE?? Works in Firefox..

  I am using jQuery to show/hide a div container (#pluginOptionsContainer), and load a page (./plugin_options.php) inside it with the required POST vars sent. What POST data is sent is based on the value of a select list (#pluginDD) and the click of a button (#pluginOptionsBtn)... It works fine in Firefox, but doesn't work in IE.. The '$("#pluginOptionsContainer").load()' request never seems to finish in IE - I only see the loading message forever... bind(), empty() and append() all seem to work fine in IE.. But not load().. • HTTP request stream not readable outside of request handler

  I'm writing a fairly complicated multi-node proxy, and at one point I need to handle an HTTP request, but read from that request outside of the "http.Server" callback (I need to read from the request data and line it up with a different response at a different time). The problem is, the stream is no longer readable. Below is some simple code to reproduce the issue. • Symbols (pdb) for native dll are not loaded due to post build step

  I have a native release dll that is built with symbols. There is a post build step that modifies the dll. The post build step does some compression and probably appends some data. The pdb file is still valid however neither WinDbg nor Visual Studio 2008 will load the symbols for the dll after the post build step. What bits in either the pdb file or the dll do we need to modify to get either WinDbg or Visual Studio to load the symbols when it loads a dump in which our release dll is referenced? Is it filesize that matters? A checksum or hash? A timestamp? Modify the dump? or modify the pdb? modify the dll before it is shipped? (We know the pdb is valid because we are able to use it to manually get symbol names for addresses in dump callstacks that reference the released dll. It's just a total pain in the *ss do it by hand for every address in a callstack in all the threads.)

• In Varnish, how can I read the Set-Cookie response header?

  I am trying to detect if my application has set a cookie that holds an "alert message" for the user on the next page, where the Javascript displays it if detected. In my vcl_fetch(), I need to detect if the specific cookie value "alert_message" appears anywhere in the Set-Cookie header (presumably in the VCL variable beresp.http.Set-Cookie). If detected, then I do not want to cache that next page (since Varnish strips the Set-Cookie header by default, which would obliterate the alert message before it makes it back to the browser). So here is my simple test: if(beresp.http.Set-Cookie ~ "alert_message") { set req.http.no_cache = 1; } Strangely, it fails to evaluate to true. So I throw the variable into the Server header to see what it looks like: set beresp.http.Server = " MyApp Varnish implementation - test reading set-cookie: "+beresp.http.Set-Cookie; But for some reason this only displays the FIRST Set-Cookie line in the response headers. • Handling multiple async HTTP requests in Silverlight serially

  Due to the async nature of http access via WebClient or HttpWebRequest in Silverlight 4, when I want to do multiple http get/posts serially, I find myself writing code that looks like this: doFirstGet(someParams, () => { doSecondGet(someParams, () => { doThirdGet(... } }); Or something similar. I'll end up nesting subsequent calls within callbacks usually implemented using lambdas of some sort. Even if I break things out into Actions or separate methods, it still ends up being hard to read. Does anyone have a clean solution to executing multiple http requests in SL 4 serially? I don't need things to be synchronous, I just want serial execution.

Not only from page to page, but from email to page also. This would be highly reusable and I think would clean up a lot of code, and would save a bunch of time writing this if its already floating around out there.   I have a WCF REST Starter Kit service. The type handled by the service is a subclass of a base class. For POST requests, the base class members are not correctly populated.   I have a Marketing service running locally through port 49481 and through IIS on port 65000. Either way when I try to debug into that service, I get an error message - {"There was no endpoint listening at http:/localhost:49481/Marketing.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details."} My inner exception is - {"The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found."} I can open that service address, http:/localhost:49481/Marketing.svc, through a browser and I get a message that it's running ok. My config file is set up like - <endpoint address="http://localhost:49481/Marketing.svc" binding="basicHttpBinding" bindingConfiguration="BasicHttpBinding_IMarketing" contract="SunriseMarketing.IMarketing" name="BasicHttpBinding_IMarketing" /> What am I missing?

• Deny http access to a directory, allow access from WordPress plugin

  Hey. I need to prevent direct access to http://www.site.com/wp-content/uploads/folder/something.pdf through the browser. However the Download Monitor plugin I am using, which allows logged in users to download the file, needs to be able to work. Trying Order Allow,Deny Deny from all Allow from all but the download links do not now work... even though (I think) they are links produced by the script e.g. http://www.site.com/wp-content/plugins/download-monitor/download.php?id=something.pdf Enter that in the address bar and you correctly get a WordPress message, 'You must be logged in to download this file.' However, if someone knows the URL where the file was uploaded http://www.site.com/wp-content/uploads/folder/something.pdf they can still access it directly. I don't know how (guesswork?) they would find the direct URL anyway, but the client wants it stopped! Thanks for any help.

• Managed HttpListener vs C++ Network Lib - Requires admin rights?

  So, I have noticed that starting an HttpListener is considered impolite according to Win 7. I cannot do so without administrative rights without adding myself to some URL reservation list. In theory, this is alright, but I'd like to make my program as little invasive as possible. My main other alternative is something like the c++ Network Library, which utilizes boost. This is probably not as simple as a HttpListener though. Will this circumvent the admin rights requirement for listening to some HTTP url? How does windows handle http listening? Right now I'm just listening to http://+:xxxx/url, I guess it's fully possible to just create a Socket listening at port xxxx and provide my own/third party http implementation?

And as a bonus, how would one implement the first example in PHP, given that 123 is the primary key of some row in a database table? Is there a way by which I can explicitly terminate a connection from server side such that client does not receive any response header. • Prevent double submission of forms in jQuery

  I have an form that takes a little while for the server to process. I need to ensure that the user waits and does not attempt to resubmit the form by clicking the button again. I tried using the following jQuery code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ $("form#my_form").submit(function(){ $('input').attr('disabled','disabled'); $('a').attr('disabled','disabled'); return true; }) }); </script> When I try this in Firefox everything gets disabled but the form is not submitted with any of the POST data it is supposed to include. I can't use jQuery to submit the form because I need the button to be submitted with the form as there are multiple submit buttons and I determine which was used by which one's value is included in the POST. I need the form to be submitted as it usually is and I need to disable everything right after that happens. Thanks!
