• Visual Studio 2008 Navigate Forewards/Backwards Buttons Don't Work As Expected

  I just installed VS2008 on my new Win7 box. I have Navigate Backwards and Navigate Forwards buttons on my tool bar. When I change between documents, I do NOT see a list drop down for each of the buttons like should be seen here after opening multiple documents and switching between their methods: How it should work. Instead, I just see the buttons without drop downs. I find that navigating forwards and backwards doesn't work as it should. I should be able to click in different lines of the code and press the nav back/forwards buttons to jump between lines. This is not the case. Any suggestions? Thanks in advanced. PS - I installed SP1 just to see and nothing changed.

• Trimming a vector of strings

  I have an std::vector of std::strings containing data similar to this: [0] = "" [1] = "Abc" [2] = "Def" [3] = "" [4] = "Ghi" [5] = "" [6] = "" How can I get a vector containing the 4 strings from 1 to 4? (i.e. I want to trim all blank strings from the start and end of the vector): [0] = "Abc" [1] = "Def" [2] = "" [3] = "Ghi" Currently, I am using a forward iterator to make my way up to "Abc" and a reverse iterator to make my way back to "Ghi", and then constructing a new vector using those iterators. This method works, but I want to know if there is an easier way to trim these elements. P.S. I'm a C++ noob. Edit Also, I should mention that the vector may be composed entirely of blank strings, in which case a 0-sized vector would be the desired result.

  I have an old c++ application that needs to be modified to work with windows 7. Problem is in creating a new folder and saving a file in that folder. This folder should be created in c:\program files\myApp\data\newFolder. If I run application as administrator than the folder is created, otherwise "Access is denied" error is thrown. My question is following: Is there an option to make changes to the code so that the folder can be created in "program files" nad that files can be saved in this folder? • How do you set a double value to a "non-value"

  I have two double data elements in an object. Sometimes they are set with a proper value and sometimes not. When the form field from which they values are received is not filled I want to set them to some value that tells me, during the rest of the code that the form fields were left empty. I can't set the values to null as that gives an error, is there some way I can make them 'Undefined'. PS. Not only am I not sure that this is possible, it might not also make sense. But if there is some best practice for such a situation I would be keen to hear it.

• Passing parameters to service by URL - How do I discover the parameter names?

  Hi, I have a report to which I have execute-only access - I don't have the access to the RDL file. This report exposes several parameters which I would like to set from URL. I've successfully changed some parameters using the standard param=data form (as explained here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms153586.aspx). However, some parameters don't have the same parameter-prompt and parameter-name. Unfortunately, to pass parameter values by URL I must know the name of the parameter and I don't see how I can deduct from the report and its parameters prompt text. I've tried to inspect the source and post-data but to no avail. Anyone has an idea? Thanks P.S I also stumbled on this: http://odetocode.com/Articles/123.aspx. However, I wasn't able to connect to the web-services of my report server.

• Console App Mouse-Click X Y Coordinate Detection/Comparison

  I have a game that I am working on in a C# console application, purely as practice before going on to better methods. As opposed to using something such as a Windows Forms App, which has button functionality built in, I am endeavoring to grab the cursor position (which I know how to do) and compare it to a number of area's inside a console application as defined by perhaps pixel location, but I also do not know if there is some sort of built in unit of space other than pixels (this last bit is the part I am unable to figure). P.S. I know this is in general terms, with no code already provided, but I do not feel that it is needed as all I am asking for is a brief explanation of how to grab X Y coordinates inside a console application, and stick them in int variables.   What is the simplest/best way to ensure only 1 copy of given script is running - assuming it's bash on linux? At the moment I'm doing: ps -C script.name.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 || ./script.name.sh but it has several issues: it puts the check outside of script it doesn't let me run the same script from separate accounts - which I would like sometimes. -C checks only first 14 characters of process name Of course I can write my own pidfile handling, but I sense that there should be some simple way to do it.

• Rails streaming file download

  I'm trying to implement a file download with Rails. I want to eventually migrate this code to using S3 to serve the file. I've copied the Rails send_file code almost verbatim and I cannot seem to get it to stream a file to the user. What happens is that it sends 'a' file to the user, but the downloaded file itself simply contains the text.inspect of the Proc: # What am I doing wrong here? options = {} options[:length] = File.size(file.path) options[:filename] = File.basename(file.path) send_file_headers! options render :status => 200, :text => Proc.new { |response, output| len = 4096 File.open(file.path, 'rb') do |fh| while buf = fh.read(len) output.write(buf) end end } Ps: I've read in a number of other posts that it's not advisable to send files through the Rails stack, and if possible serve using the web server, or in the case of S3 use the hashed URL it can provide. Yes, we really do want to serve the file through the Rails stack.

I am new to FreshBooks (no only the API) and I want to use it for some automatically generated invoices.   I have to create dynamically allocated array of CStatic (CStatic* array;), which then displayed on the dialog. It must be allocated and filled like this: array = new CStatic[list_box.GetCount()]; for (int i = 0; i < list_box.GetCount(); i++) { CString str; list_box.GetText(i, str); array[i].Create(str, WS_CHILD, CRect(), GetParent()); } But str is destroyed after the dialog is closed, because list_box destroyes too, and all pointers inside CStatics points nowhere (I assume it is not working because of this). What can I do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated. P.S. I know, that this is awful way and this is all wrong and I know how to do this right, but unfortunately, I can't change tasks, they give us in the university :)

  I have an array of email addresses that I am trying to sort, but I'm getting odd results. Here is what I mean: sort($array); print_r($array); ...[79] => 91******@******.com [80] => 9l***@**********.com [81] => ps*******@**********.com [82] => a.c******@*****.com [83] => a.d****@*****.com... What would cause that email beginning with p's to be mixed in after the numbers and before the A's? I removed that email address from the database and replaced it with "testing" and then "testing" appeared in the same position.

• How can I modify an Android bitmap in C++ (JNI/NDK) so that I can use on the Java side?

  I call a C++ function over JNI and pass a RGBA_8888 bitmap, lock it, change the values, unlock it, return and then display it in Java with this C++ code: AndroidBitmap_getInfo(env, map, &info) < 0); AndroidBitmap_lockPixels(env, map, (void**)&pixel); for(i=info.width*info.height-1;i>=0;i--) { pixel[i] = 0xf1f1f1f1; } AndroidBitmap_unlockPixels(env, map); The problem I have is that the bitmaps looks not as I expect it and the pixel values (verified with getPixel) are not the same when I check them in Java from what I set them in C++. When I set the bitmap values to 0xffffffff I get the correct value in Java, but for many others I don't. 0xf1f1f1f1 for example turns into 0xF1FFFFFF. What do I have to do to make it work ? PS: I am using Android 2.3.4
