• iphone - grouping UIImageViews x blocking elements

  I have to rotate several UIImageViews around a specific center. To accomplish this I am using the famous trick of putting these views as subviews of a larger one and rotating that one. The problem is that these subviews have to detect touches, because each one has buttons on it. The hierarchy is like this LARGE_VIEW | |_____ imageView1 | |_________ button1 | |_________ button2 | |_________ button3 | |_____ imageView2 |_________ button4 |_________ button5 |_________ button6 etc So, to make buttons respond to tap, I had to make this; [LARGE_VIEW setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; [imageView1 setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; [imageView2 setUserInteractionEnabled:YES]; ImageView1 and 2 are two vertical rows of buttons on each side of the screen. The problem is that there's another view below LARGE_VIEW and this view is not receiving the taps, because LARGE_VIEW is intercepting them first. I don't need LARGE_VIEW to detect any taps except on the two areas where imageView 1 and 2 are. LARGE_VIEW must let pass taps on the area defined by this rect (52, 0, 768-2*52, 1024). ImageView1 and 2 have this size: 52 pixels wide and 1024 pixels high (iPad). ImageView1's rect is: (0, 0, 52, 1024) and ImageView2's rect is: (768-52, 0, 52, 1024) LARGE_VIEW must let pass taps on the area defined by this rect (52, 0, 768-2*52, 1024). How to solve that? I need LARGE_VIEW detect taps on each rect defined on my previous paragraph and pass these taps to its subviews and just let pass taps outside these rects to the app, so other views BELOW, can detect taps too. thanks.

I put this style in my ButtonResourceDictionary: <Style TargetType="Button"> <Setter Property="Padding" Value="3" /> <Setter Property="FontWeight" Value="Bold" /> </Style> All buttons now have the correct padding and bold text, but they look "Classic", not "Aero". How do I fix this style so my buttons all look Aero but also have these minor changes? I would prefer not to have to set the Style property for every button.

• How do I update the UI during an event using ASP.NET?

  I'm a bit stuck with a problem. I feel like the solution should be fairly straight forward but I'm completely out of ideas for some reason. Here's the problem. I've got a user control with a couple of buttons. Think of them as 'On' and 'Off'. When either button is clicked an async method is called. If the method is successful an event is fired. Within the event I want to update the enabled property of the two buttons so that only a single button is clickable at any one time. The problem is that any changes I make to the properties are not shown on screen because the postback is already complete. I tried wrapping the buttons in an UpdatePanel but I get an "Update method can only be called on UpdatePanel with ID 'xxxx' before Render' error. I understand why the problem occurs but I can't think of a solution. Help! Ideally what I'd like to do is simply call a method within the event that will update the UI, but I don't know if that's possible.

• How do I get this linearlayout working on android?

  I'm trying to create a scrollview that contains a linearlayout with some options inside of it. I'd like for the options to show up at the top and grow downwards, and to have "save," "delete," and "cancel" buttons which show up at the very bottom of the screen (if there is space left in between the bottom of all the options and the top of the buttons). Here's a screenshot of my attempt: http: //img375.imageshack.us/img375/3628/10370572.png (StackOverflow was only letting me post a single link so you'll have to get rid of the space in between http: and the rest) As you can see, the buttons show up directly below the options rather than at the bottom of the screen. In fact the top level (green) linearlayout doesn't even extend all the way down, despite having a height of fill_parent and a weight of 1 (and the blue is the scrollview, so there is room to expand). I've tried every possible combination of heights, weights, gravities, and anything else to get this working and still can't do it. Everytime I pasted my xml layout into here, the top and bottom portions got cut off, so instead I pasted it here: pastey link Can anyone see what I'm doing wrong?

  Background: I am customizing an existing ASP .NET / C# application. It has it's own little "framework" and conventions for developers to follow when extending/customizing its functionality. I am currently extending some of it's administrative functionality, to which the framework provides a contract to enforce implementation of the GetAdministrationInterface() method, which returns System.Web.UI.Control. This method is called during the Page_Load() method of the page hosting the GUI interface. Problem: I have three buttons in my GUI, each of which have been assigned an Event Handler. My administration GUI loads up perfectly fine, but clicking any of the buttons doesn't do what I expect them to do. However, when I click them a second time, the buttons work. I placed breakpoints at the beginning of each event handler method and stepped through my code. On the first click, none of the event handlers were triggered. On the second click, they fired. • Cocoa button won't display image

  Just started exploring Cocoa so pretty much a total noob. I've written a very simple game. Set it up in Interface Builder and got it working fine. It contains a number of buttons and I'm now trying to get the buttons to display images. To start with I'm trying to get an image displayed on just one of the buttons which is called tile0 . The image file (it's nothing but a green square at the moment, but I'm just trying to get that working before I attempt anything more exotic) is sitting in the same directory as the class file which controls the game. I have the following code sitting in my wakeFromNib method: NSString *myImageFileName = [[NSString alloc] init]; myImageFileName = @"greenImage.jpg"; NSImage *myImage = [[NSImage alloc] initByReferencingFile:myImageFileName]; [tile0 setImage: myImage]; Trouble is, the game runs fine, but the image isn't appearing on my button. Is there someone who could kindly tell me if I'm doing something obviously wrong? Many Thanks.

  Hello, I would like to ask for a little help here, since I haven't got any big knowledge in Javascript, nor in jQuery. I need to show 5 radio buttons when a checkbox is checked, the checkboxes represent languages that the user speaks, so for each of the selected, there should appear 5 separate radio buttons for how good they speak it(1 to 5). I tried to do it with jQuery, but I did not manage to get very far away... • How can I simplify this user interface?

  I'm writing an internal-tools webapp; one of the central pages in this tool has a whole bunch of related commands the user can execute by clicking one of a number of buttons on the page, like this: Ideally, all of the buttons would fit on one line. Ordinarily I'd do this by changing each widget from a button with a (sometimes long) text label to a simple, compact icon - e.g. could be replaced by a familiar disk icon: Unfortunately, I don't think I can do this for every button on this particular page. Some of the command buttons just don't have good visual analogs - "VDS List". Or, if I needed to add another button in the future for some other kind of list, I'd need two icons that both communicate "list-ness" and which list. So, I'm still considering this option, but I don't love it. So it's come time for me to add yet another button to this section (don't you love internal tools?). There's not enough room on that single line to fit the new button. Aside from the icon solution I already mentioned, what would be a good* way to simplify/declutter/reduce or otherwise improve this UI? *As per Jakob Nielsen's article, I'd like to think that a dropdown menu is not the solution.

• Image sprite not lining up in firefox

  I am working with an image sprite to create my buttons. They work right in every browser except firefox. Lets say i have 2 spans next to eachother: <span class="spanleft"></span><span class="spanright"></span> and give them some styling(this is the actual code i use for the sprite) .spanleft{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 0; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:13px; } .spanright{ background:url('/templates/default/img/auction/btn-toolbar.png') no-repeat 0 -104px; display:block; float:left; height:100px; width:30px; margin-left:0px; } Now this works in every browser i tested, the images line up great. But in firefox I get a small offset. Now i fiddled with the pixels a lot. Its not an offset of 1px, the offset is about 0.5 of a px. yeah. Ive made a screenshot of what i mean, and i'm going to put in the sprite for the buttons, they make lovely buttons, upstate,downstate,hover,disabled. You can use them in your projects.   Good day, I have like 15 images I need to be buttons. I have buttons working with a Box() (Box - looks like this) class Box(pygame.sprite.Sprite): def __init__(self): pygame.sprite.Sprite.__init__(self) self.image = pygame.Surface((35, 30)) self.image = self.image.convert() self.image.fill((255, 0, 0)) self.rect = self.image.get_rect() self.rect.centerx = 25 self.rect.centery = 505 self.dx = 10 self.dy = 10 I am trying to make the buttons work with image sprites. So I attempted to copy the class style of the box and do the same for my Icons.. code looks like this... class Icons(pygame.sprite.Sprite): def __init__(self): pygame.sprite.Sprite.__init__(self) self.image = pygame.image.load("images/airbrushIC.gif").convert() self.rect = self.image.get_rect() self.rect.x = 25 self.rect.y = 550 the code in the main() rect = image.get_rect() rect.x = 25 rect.y = 550 ic1 = Icons((screen.get_rect().x, screen.get_rect().y)) screen.blit(ic1.image, ic1.rect) pygame.display.update() This code produces a positional (accepts 1 argument but 2 are there) error or an image is not referenced error (inside the Icon class). I'm unsure if this is the right way to go about this anyways.. I know for sure that I need to load all the images (as sprites)... store them in an array... and then have my mouse check if it is clicking one of the items in the array using a for loop. Thanks. Which begs the question how I make sprites outside of a class.. If there is a way to make the class work please let me know.

• NSView only redraws on breakpoint

  I have a custom view inside a NSPopover. It should change according to user input and it does the first time the user interact with it but it fails to redraw the following times. I have tried to put an NSLog inside the -drawRect: method and it doesn't get called during normal execution. When I try to debug and put a breakpoint inside the method it gets called normally and the app works as it should. I explicitly call the view -setNeedsDisplay: method every time I need it to redraw. I don't understand why it should make a difference. Here is the code that update the status of the view. These methods are part of the NSTextField delegate method -textDidChange: and I checked that these get called every time the user type something in the textfield associated with popover. [tokenCloud tokensToHighlight:[NSArray arrayWithObject:completeSuggestionString]]; tokenCloud.tokens = filteredTokens; [tokenCloud setNeedsDisplay:YES]; The views is a series of recessed button. The first line update the status of all the buttons in the popover and the second add or delete buttons. They both work properly because the first time they are called the view is update properly. I have also checked that both the status of the buttons in tokenCloud and its property tokens are updated correctly. The problem is that the NSView subclass, tokenCloud, doesn't redraw so the changes are not reflected in the UI the second time. Here is the draw method of the view: - (void)drawRect:(NSRect)rect { [self recalculateButtonLocations]; NSLog(@"Redrawn"); } Again this method gets called normally every time I update the view if I place a breakpoint in [self recalculateButtonLocations];. If instead I let the app run normally nothing gets logged in the console the second time I update the view. Same thing if I include the NSLog in the recalculateButtonLocations method, nothing gets logged the second time meaning that the method is not called.

• Alert Box Methods

  I just need a little advice on what may be the best method for handling my situation. I'm in need of placing three buttons in the sidebar of the website I maintain. The website is massive and hard to handle. Currently, it's all HTML files (there are over 10,000 of them believe it or not). We're transitioning to a database website so I don't want to make any sweeping changes that are site-wide, as they may just be scrapped in our re-design process in coming months. However, these buttons are for an application process. When you click on them, an alert box will need to pop up to give you a bit of information and they either allow you to cancel the action or proceed. The buttons are currently located in the left nav which is included on every page of the website. Would it be possible to accomplish this using JS or jQuery? I'd be unable to easily add scripts into the tags on all of the applicable pages, but I'd like to avoid the browser driven "http://www...Says: blah blah" message if possible. Any insight is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

• XCOPY to remote server

  In order to improve the deployment / build process of my ASP.NET app, I would like to make a .bat that builds the current solution in release mode xcopy the files to a remote server Creating a release build via command line is easy. But how can I xcopy the files to the remote server? I think I have to map the remote destination to a network drive (?). However I could not connect to the remote server, although I have enabled file sharing for the folder on the server. Maybe the firewall is blocking the request? Which port should I open? Or is there another solution? EDIT Thanks for all the answers so far, but I probably need a step by step guide on how to set up the folder sharing on the server. I shared the folder, I opened up port 445 so that I can connect to the server but still, I cant connect from my local machine to the server in order to map the network path to a system drive.

  Hello everyone, i am trying to use mustache.js to render some JSON in the browser. What i want to do is: <li> <span class="label">Location: </span> {{#locations}} {{.}}<span class="social-small-size "></span> {{/locations}} </li> The locations is a js array [["Pendéli, Attiki, Greece", "facebook"], ["Greece", "linkedin"]] Initially i tried to use {{%IMPLICIT-ITERATOR iterator=loc}} in my attempt to split the data in the view. So i the actual rendering code was {{loc[0]}}<span class="social-small-size {{loc[1}}"></span> But that did n t work altough the loop worked and i got 2 spans but without any content. I think the PRAGMA is what I need but I didn 't figure it out. Any hints ? :)

• Asynchronous callback for network in Objective-C Iphone

  I am working with network request - response in Objective-C. There is something with asynchronous model that I don't understand. In summary, I have a view that will show my statuses from 2 social networks: Twitter and Facebook. When I clicked refresh, it will call a model manager. That model manager will call 2 service helpers to request for latest items. When 2 service helpers receive data, it will pass back to model manager and this model will add all data into a sorted array. What I don't understand here is that : when response from social networks come back, how many threads will handle the response. From my understanding about multithreading and networking (in Java), there must have 2 threads handle 2 responses and those 2 threads will execute the code to add the responses to the array. So, it can have race condition and the program can go wrong right? Is it the correct working model of iphone objective-C? Or they do it in a different way that it will never have race condition and we don't have to care about locking, synchronize? And if there is only one single thread, how can the thread finishes parsing 1 response and jump to the other response because, IMO, thread is only executed sequently, block of code by block of code

• Apple Magic Mouse scrolling in Ubuntu 9.10

  Just received new Apple Magic Mouse and tried to install it on my computer with Ubuntu 9.10. Mouse was found as Bluetooth mouse, I entered PIN as 0000 (could not find it in user manual, so just googgled it). Now I have 2 buttons working well - left and right, but scrolling does not work. I understand that there is no driver for Magic Mouse for linux, but maybe some enthusiasts already found way to enable scrolling. Without scrolling with only 2 buttons this mouse is just like my first mouse I bought in 1997, Mitsumi as I can remember =)
