• Adobe Encore CS4 DVD Menu Button Not Functioning

  Hello, I've built a DVD in Adobe Encore CS4, and everything works great in the preview. However, when I go and burn to DVD, we have one issue. On the DVD menu, there are two text buttons, with no background when unselected, and have a background when selected. That allows the user to know which is selected. Like I said, everything works great in the preview, but the background that is supposed to appear when the button is selected does not. The buttons work, but there is no background when selected. • Is there any way I can add alternative key binding to a feature in compiz?

  I was wondering is there any way to add additional, alternative key binding to a particular feature in compiz? I am using Wall plugin and on my ThinkPad it is convenient to switch between horizontal workspaces with media buttons for browser navigation. But there just two of them, so I have to use completely different combinations to switch between workspaces vertically and that would very helpful if I can also use similar kind of combination to switch horizontally as well in addition to those media buttons. Is there a way maybe to send a message to the compiz to execute particular command? That would solve the issue.

• Facebook, Flash and maintaining state

  So here's the situation: I have a Flash application I'm deploying to facebook as a canvas app. There are various states within this app - different "pages", sort of. I want to be able to share this app with other users using Facebook's baked-in sharing mechanism. However, I want each state to have its own share button. That way when someone clicks Share on page 3 they are actually sharing page 3, not the root of the whole application. Does anyone know if Facebook exposes some mechanism by which this could be possible? It would be as simple as passing a string into the iFrame that holds the canvas app, so I could load it in as a FlashVar and work from there. I'm kind of beating my head against the wall - does this request make sense, and has anyone tackled anything like this before? Thanks!

• facebook meta tag description not updating

  3 days ago I updated description within the meta tag of facebook, but change does not reflect when sharing link on facebook. Instead old description still appears. According to Facebook, it scrapes your page every 24 hours to ensure the description (and other share data) are up to date. However, one can manually refresh it by entering the post URL into the Facebook URL Linter I did manually refresh it as well as now waited for 3 days. When i see debugging output from linter, it shows the correct up-to-date description, but old description still shown when sharing a link. How to reproduce: This is our website: https://www.tradeinsports.se/#tis1 (It's in swedish so bear with me please). If you go to above link and click on any of the two available products, and then share on facebook, you can see the difference in description from the one which appears in linter debugging output. Any help would be appreciated.

• How to detect time on a playing Flash video

  Hi I have a video playing on my page. I want to show and hide some div's when the video reaches a certain point. Lets say hide something on 10th second and show it again on 20th second. I can easily do it in HTML5 with video tag and currentTime attribute but for IE I have to create the same functionality and I think with flash based videos (from YouTube or something like that). Is there a way to detect the current time of a video playing on my website, embeded from YouTube, Metacafe or any other video sharing site? I know I could detect it in flash and make it run some JavaScript function but I don't have flash nor have the skills to do it in AS3. Is it possible to do it from JavaScript level or does any video sharing website out there provides this kind of functionality for their videos?

• How do I download an attachment from an annotation using client-side JScript?

  I'm trying to provide a link to the attachment of a note through the client-side JScript. The standard MS-made Notes component does this through the following url: [serverurl]/[appname]/Activities/Attachment/download.aspx?AttachmentType=5&AttachmentId={blahblahblah}&IsNotesTabAttachment=1&CRMWRPCToken=blahblahblah&CRMWRPCTokenTimeStamp=blahblahblah The problem is that I don't know how to get the Token or TokenTimeStamp, so I'm receiving an Access Denied error ("form is no longer available, security precaution, etc"). The only other way I can think of doing this is through the OData endpoint, but that would at best get me a base64 string that I still would have translate into a filestream to give to the browser (all of which seems like it would take forever to implement/figure out). • wireless printer - entering WPA - is there a quicker way?

  I have a wireless printer (Brother DCP-585CW). The wireless setup instruction says I should enter the WPA key to the printer. The key is entered using up and down buttons on the printer. So, I am supposed to enter 64 characters using up and down buttons. To enter 1 character, it takes on average (24+10)/2 = 17 times pressing the button (digits start after 24 letters). So 17*64 = 1088 times. Is there a quicker way to setup a wireless printer? Maybe there is a Windows program that discovers printers connected to computer through USB or Ethernet (my printer has both sockets) and allows to pre-configure it for wireless usage (enter the long WPA key)? Update There is BRAdmin program and it allows to set up almost all wireless settings... almost - all except WPA :(

I know about some suspicious ways to do this by styling visited links and then sneaking on computed style attribute, but it's more of a hack, Mozilla and maybe other are planning to crack down on this, as it might be abused. But I need this to allow users more integration with their identity providers, like: Have a Google account? ~ load contacts for sharing from Google Contacts API Have an Yahoo account? ~ load contacts for sharing from Yahoo Contacts API none of the above? show no link I don't want to provide all these options to all visitors, would be nice if I can detect the account, and provide integration only in that case.

• Viewsonic monitor keeps showing its on-screen menu incessantly

  Since yesterday my Viewsonic 22" monitor (VX2255wmb) keeps showing its on-screen menu incessantly, without my touching any of its buttons. The menu comes on in the centre of the screen, stays on for 8-10 seconds, disappears for a second or two, then repeats the cycle. This happens whenever there's a signal being sent to the monitor. I can't actually navigate the menu when it appears on-screen. Pressing the power button, or the Up and Down buttons on its right edge dismiss the menu, only for it to reappear again. These symptoms have appeared before, but earlier they'd stop after 5-10 mins. The power button on the monitor has always been iffy, but now it doesn't seem to be working at all--have to switch off power supply from mains when I leave my desk. Using DVI input on this monitor as my HP desktop has DVI output.

If it returns fail, apply the network error steps. http://www.w3.org/TR/access-control/#simple-cross-origin-request0 In my testing, I couldn't locate any features of Firefox's implementation that seem to indicate that the resource sharing check definitely failed. It just switches readyState to 4 and sets status to 0. Ultimately I'd like the ability to pass a success callback, a general fail callback, and an optional cross-origin fail callback, to my function. • (iOS) UI Automation AlertPrompt button/textField accessiblity

  I'm having a bit of trouble with UI Automation (the built in to iOS tool) when it comes to alertView. First off, I'm not sure where I can set the accessibilityLabel and such for the buttons that are on the alertView. Secondly, although I am not getting an error, I can't get my textField to actually set the value of the textField to something. • How to do comments in Activity Stream? (like Facebook)

  Hi, I'm starting to develop an activity stream. I've read both How to implement the activity stream in a social network and What’s the best manner of implementing a social activity stream?. What I haven't found is the best way to add comments to the activities. As in facebook, each comment can be commented by another person. If each activity comment is saved as another activity, then I would not be able to get the activity of that comment without doing a query. So the solution I'm thinking is to save the comments inside the serialize data field of each activity. If the user wants to delete his comment, I would have to update that activity. Is this the correct solution? Is there a better approach? Thanks!

• How to test which button is stuck

  My laptop's keyboard is prone to buttons sticking. The fix is to just press the same button again. Now when it is the letter/number keys are stuck, it's just a matter of putting the cursor in a text field, and seeing what characters appear. However, when it is one of the modifier keys, or tab, or enter or a few other buttons, it gets harder to tell which key is to blame. Trying to type can result in all sort of shortcuts being triggered. Is there anyway to test what input is being recieved? Also, I'm guessing this is a hardware issue, but if anyone knows of any possible causes/solutions it'd be appreciated. It's a Dell Studio 17, and the problem occurs under Windows and Linux.

• Action button: only true once per press

  I'm using SFML2.0 and am trying to make a wrapper class for my controller/joystick. I read all the input data from my controller and send it off to my controllable object. I want to have two types of buttons per button press, one that is continues(true false state ) and one that is an action and is set to false after the next frame update. Here is an example of how I set my button A to true or false with the SFML api. Whereas data is my struct of buttons, and A holds my true/false state every update. data.A = sf::Joystick::isButtonPressed(i,st::input::A); But I've also added "data.actionA" which represents the one time action state. Basically what I want is for actionA to be set false after the update its been set to true. I'm trying to keep track of the previous state. But I seem to fall into this loop where it toggles between true and false every update. Anyone an idea? Edit: Since I can't answer my own question yet here is my solution: data.actionA = data.A = sf::Joystick::isButtonPressed(i,st::input::A); if(prev.A) data.actionA = false; First I always set the actionA to the value of the button state. Then I check if the previous state of A is true. If so we negate the value.

• How to Disable Touchpad tap in Toshiba Tecra R850 in Oneiric

  I know there's a lot of similar questions, but nothing I have tried here works yet - perhaps I was doing it wrong. New Laptop - Toshiba Tecra R850 with an install of Oneiric. Mostly things are working well, but I have a problem with the touchpad (or whatever it's called) - whenever I use it for moving the mouse pointer I accidentally tap on it - basically I am clicking all over the place by accident. So I want to disable the tap-as-click (after all, I have buttons for clicks too). I open up "Mouse and Touchpad" and on the Touchpad tab I check "Disable touchpad when typing" and UNcheck "Enable mouse clicks with touchpad". This does not achieve anything. The only piece of code I had which worked at all was to completely disable the touchpad by removing the driver - but that is no use since I WANT the mousing ability, just not the tap. In fact, even that would be good if I could still use the little blue stick thing and the other buttons - but it disabled them too. Tried installing touchpad indicator but it didn't seem to want to install. There were suggestions to put stuff into /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d so I edited 50-synaptics.conf and added the line Option "TapButton1" "0" But it didn't work and I'm not surprised since the place, syntax and values were all a guess really... • Ubuntu backlight problem with Nvidia graphics

  I have a laptop mySN QMG6 / Chiligreen Mobilitas NW which is Quanta TW9 barebone with intel i3 and nvidia 335m GT onboard. On ubuntu distros 10.04, 10.10, 11.04 and 11.10 i had problem with changing screen backlight with nouveau and nvidia drivers. FN+F4/F5 buttons did not change my brightness. I tried to edit xorg.conf, adding Option “RegistryDwords” “EnableBrightnessControl=1? Also tried to add some lines to grug acpi_osi="Linux" acpi_backlight=vendor Neither worked for me. Today I installed Ubuntu 12.04 beta2 and... With nouveau driver my FN key works, and changes the brightness (is it a new 3.0.22 linux kernel, or patched nouveau driver, i don't know). This is a big step forward. But, when installing proprietary nvidia driver (295.33) FN button stops working and i can't change brightness. I also tried workaround with xorg and grub with no result. Tried to install acpi from apt - no result. Is there anything left to try? I really need that nvidia driver working with FN keys, as i would like to have a working 3D acceleration. P.S. Does the nouveau driver has 3d acceleration like nvidia drivers??? If there is need to provide some log data, please write what should i print, as i'm a bit new to Ubuntu. P.P.S. Same problems i had with other Linux distros (Mint, Fedora and others) P.P.P.S. Other FN buttons work with both drivers (Mute, VOL UP/DOWN, WiFi on/off, Bluetooth, Sleep, Start/Pause, Stop, Next/Prev song)

• Autoscaling in a modern world&hellip;. Part 1

  It has been a while since I have had time to sit down and blog.  I need to make sure I take the time.  It helps me to focus on technology and not let the administrivia keep me from doing the things I love. I have been focusing on the cloud for the last couple of years.  Specifically the  PaaS platform from Microsoft called Azure.  Time to dig in.. I wanted to explore Autoscaling.  Autoscaling is not native part of Azure.  The platform has the needed connection points.  You can write code that looks at the health and performance of your application components and react to needed scaling changes.  But that means you have to write all the code.  Luckily, an add on to the Enterprise Library provides a lot of code that gets you a long way to being able to autoscale without having to start from scratch. The tool set is primarily composed of a Autoscaler object that you need to host.  This object, when hosted and configured, looks at the performance criteria you specify and adjusts your application based on your needs.  Sounds perfect. I started with the a set of HOL’s that gave me a good basis to understand the mechanics.  I worked through labs 1 and 2 just to get the feel, but let’s start our saga at the end of lab3.  Lab3 end results in a web application, hosted in Azure and a console app running on premise.  The web app has a few buttons on it.  One set adds messages to a queue, another removes them.  A second set of buttons drives processor utilization to 100%.  If you want to guess, a safe bet is that the Autoscaler is configured to react to a queue that has filled up or high cpu usage.  We will continue our saga in the next post…
