  Just been re-introduced to the Perl '||=' operator from the classic Orcish Maneuver example: keys my %or_cache = @in; @out = sort { ($or_cache{$a} ||= KEY($a)) cmp ($or_cache{$b} ||= KEY($b)) } @in; Is this operator available in PHP and Javascript? And if not, do these two languages allow user defined operators?

  Stack Overflow has covered favorite short-cuts and add-ins, optimizations and preferences -- great topics all. If this one has been covered, I can't find it -- so thanks in advance for the link. What are your favorite Visual Studio keyboard remappings? Mine are motivated by the fact that I'm a touch-typist. Mouse, function keys, arrow keys, Home, End -- bleh. These are commands I do all day every day, so I've remapped them to sequences I can execute without moving my hands from the home row. The command that is remapped in Tools = Customize = [Keyboard] is shown in parentheses. I'm 100% positive that there are better remappings than these, so please post yours!   Hey there, I'm currently working on an app which displays a bunch of files in a table, and you can add and remove them and whatsoever. To prevent duplicates in the table, I'd like to create a NSDictionary using the files full path as keys for another NSDictionary which contains all the file information, but I am a little concerned about the maximum key length of NSDictionary, and also whether this solution would be performance killer or not... • How to make per- http Request cache in ASP.NET 3.5

  We using ASP.NET 3.5 (Controls-based apporach) and need to have storage specific for one http request only. Thread-specific cache with keys from session id won't work because threads are supposed to be pooled and therefore I have a chance to have data from some previous request in cache, which is undesireble in my case. I always need to have brand new storage for each request available through whole request. Any ideas how to do it in ASP.NET 3.5?

• Is there any way to sync the scrollbars in a JavaFX 1.2 ListView?

  I have multiple listviews sidebyside. I have a way to make sure the "selectedIndex" is the same on all of them, but is there a way to make it so the scrollbar's are ALWAYS synchronized? It seems that the scrollbars WILL be synced as long as the user uses the ARROW KEYS when navigating down the listview, however, if the user HOLDS DOWN the key, OR USES THE MOUSE WHEEL, they will not be synchronized at all. With regular expressions using C# how do i write an regex that takes the value directly behind the key? I know i could write it in such a way it will match the first DUMMY but i cant think of how to make the VALUE instead.

• A scheme for expiring downloaded content?

  I am going to offer a web API service that allows users to download and "rent" content for a monthly subscription fee. The API will either be open to everyone or possibly just select parties (not sure yet). Each developer must agree to a license, and they receive a developer key for their person. Each software application will have its own key as well. So then end-users will download the software which will interact with my service's API. Each user will have a key for each application as well (probably using OAuth). Content will be cached on first download and accessible offline via just the third-party application that cached the content. If a user cancels their subscription, I plan on doing the following: Deactivate the user's OAuth key for all applications. Do not allow the user's account to download new content via the API (and subsequently any software that uses the API). Now, the big question is: how do I make content expire if they cancel their subscription? If they cancel, they should not have access to content anymore. Here are ideas I've thought of (some of these are half-solutions, not yet fully fleshed out): Require that applications encrypt downloaded content using the user's OAuth key, making it available to only the application. This will prevent most users from going to the cache directory and just copying and keeping files. Update the user's key once a month, forcing content to re-cache on a monthly basic. Users could then access content for a month after they cancel their subscription. Require applications to "phone home" [to the service] periodically and check whether the user's subscription has terminated. If so, require in the API developer license that applications expire cache. If it is found that applications do not comply, their keys (and possibly keys for all developers) are permanently deactivated as a consequence. One major worry is that some applications may blatantly ignore constraints of the license. Is it generally acceptable to rely on applications abiding by the licensing constraints? Bad idea? Any other ideas? Maybe a way to make content auto-expire after x days? Something else? I'm open to out-of-the-box ideas.

• sql server: import operation won't copy full schema

  I recall that the import tool in sql server 2000 would copy indexes, relationships, etc. In sql server 2005/2008 the import tool in SSMS will only create the tables, copy the data, but the keys, indexes, relationships are missing. I can find no option in the import wizard to enable this? What am I missing here? Is this not possible anymore for any good reason?
