  • SSIS Handling Extenal Issues

    I have an SSIS package that works fine. The package runs every night and takes about 4 hours to complete. I have am a newb to SSIS, so I want to see what my options are. I am not finding anything on the web about these two issues, so any advice is greatly appreciated. What to do when I have an external issue such as a power failure/accidental restart. Is there a way to alert someone or have the package begin again on restart. A couple weeks ago there was a process that got hung and locked table, making the process not execute. How is the best way to handle ensuring I have the proper access before starting and if not, get the access. I am ok with killing the processes etc. Looking for best practice info. Thanks

  • MYSQL join - reference external field from nested select?

    Is it allowed to reference external field from nested select? E.g. SELECT FROM ext1 LEFT JOIN (SELECT * FROM int2 WHERE int2.id = ext1.some_id ) as x ON 1=1 in this case, this is referencing ext1.some_id in nested select. I am getting errors in this case that field ext1.some_id is unknow. Is it possible? Is there some other way?

  • Serve external template in Django

    Hey, I want to do something like return render_to_response("http://docs.google.com/View?id=bla", args) and serve an external page with django arguments. Django doesn't like this (it looks for templates in very particular places). What's the easiest way make this work? Right now I'm thinking to use urllib to save the page to somewhere locally on my server and then serve with the templates pointing to there. Note: I'm not looking for anything particularly scalable here, I realize my proposal above is a little dirty.

    Hi All, I have an application and from this application I have to start another process by shutting down the current application and after the completion of the process again start the application. The flow is as follows, suppose I have an application app.exe, and another application another.exe, so i have to do following: 1) Start app.exe 2) Stop/shutdown app.exe and start another.exe from app.exe 3) When another.exe completes, stop/shutdown another.exe and start app.exe from another.exe Anyone please provide me some clue of how to do it ? Thanks in advance for any help...

  • Silverlight Unit Testing Framework running tests in external class library

    I'm currently looking into different options for unit testing Silverlight applications. One of the frameworks available is the Silverlight Unit Test Framework from Microsoft (developed primary by Jeff Wilcox, http://www.jeff.wilcox.name/2010/05/sl3-utf-bits/). One of the scenarios I'm looking into is running the same tests on both Silverlight 3 (PC) and Windows Phone 7. The Silverlight Unit Test Framework (SLUT) runs on both PC and phone. To prevent having to copy or link files I would like to put my tests into a shared test library, that can be loaded by either a WP7 application using the SLUT, or a Silverlight 3 application using SLUT. So my question is: will SLUT load unit tests defined in a referenced class library, or only in the executing assembly?

    Hi, I'm working on deploying a web application written in C# with ASP.Net Application services databases. The application runs fine on the development machine. Windows Server 2003 has been built to test the application. The database has been scripted across using MS SQL Server GUI. ASP.Net application services tables were created using an utility. The connection strings are stored in the web.config and connectionStrings.config. The application connects to the database successfully, but then it times out after 10 seconds.

  • Jquery: Calling functions from different documents

    Hi, I've got some Jquery functions that I keep in a "custom.js" file. On some pages, I need to pass PHP variables to the Jquery so some Jquery bits need to remain in the HTML documents. However, as I'm now trying to refactor things to the minimum, I'm tripping over the following: If I put this in my custom.js: $(document).ready(function() { function sayHello() { alert("hello"); } } And this in a HTML document: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { sayHello(); }); </script> ... the function doesn't get called. However, if both are placed in the HTML document, the function works fine. Is there some kind of public property I need to declare for the function or how do I get Jquery functions in my HTML to talk to external .js files? They're correctly included and work fine otherwise.     Hi, If I have a reference to an external third party JavaScript file on my website, what are the security implications? Can the JavaScript file be used to steal cookies? One example of this is the Google Analytics JavaScript reference file. Could the third party technically steal cookies or any other sensitive information from my logged on users (XSS)?   • Combining features from other projects in an ASP.NET MVC application

    Hello, I am writing an ASP.NET MVC application that combines a set of features from existing applications. The new application is suppose to use UI features and logic created (especially for this purpose) in the existing applications. For that reason I wanted to create in the existing applications some kind of a "blackbox" that I will be able to drop in my new application along with a matching connection string, and it will work independently, binding data on it's own. I thought about using partial views, but I am having trouble with passing the model data to it, since the controller of the new application should not know about the model of the existing applications. I can not use ASP.NET WebForms, since my application should be a "postback-less" application, and ASP.NET AJAX toolkit or frameworks alike are out of the question.   • Which technology should I choose for 3d globe web application

    Hello, i would like to ask you for an advice. I'm currently developing application in Spring consisting of Spring CRUD application as backend, SpringMVC application as tool for management and third part is where my problem lies as I need have application that renders 3d globe which is fed by data from backend from a data set selected by user (user may switch those at will). It has to be web application (though I would prefer not to implement this in flash/flex), composed of two main parts - main part is classic web GUI where user makes his choices and second part is 3d globe which renders the globe with selected set of data visualised. My question is, what do you think is the best option to implement this? Would be SpringMVC framework usable for this kind of application? I will be gratefull for any leads or directions, thank you.

  • iphone web app: open directions in external maps application

    I've seen the answers for opening the Maps app in a native iPhone app, but is there any way to do this in a web app? I've tried changing window.location to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino for example, to no avail. I've tried using a simple anchor tag linked to http://maps.google.com/maps?q=cupertino, also to no avail. Has anyone gotten this to work before? I'm working on a map-heavy application, and I'd like to provide users with directions at the end. I figured it would be easiest to simply open it up in the Map application. Note: I'm currently testing with just the simulator, could that lead to problems? My iPhone is down for the count at the moment.

  • server performance: multiple external connections and performance

    I am creating a php script that requires the server to make several cURL requests per run. I'll be running this script through cron every 3 minutes. Im looking to maximize the amount of cURL requests I can make in a 24 hr period. What I am wondering is if it would be better from a performance standpoint to get a dedicated server, or several small shared hosting accounts. With the problem being number of external connections and not system resources I'm wondering which is the best approach.

    Is it possible to get a value from the external CSS of a page if the element that the style refers to has not been generated yet? (the element is to be generated dynamically). The jQuery method I've seen is $('element').css('property','value');, but this relies on element being on the page. Is there a way of finding out what the property is set to within the CSS rather than the computed style of an element?
