  • How do I mount a drive when user clicks on a button of MFC application

    Now I have a MFC application which accepts the user name and password and on click of connect it should mount the drive. The drivers team has already created and installed the driver which has function to mount the drive. Now the problem is when I click the login button on my MFC app then the mount function in drive should be called. But how do I post the message to the driver? Is there any other way arround ?

  • Linking problems using libcurl with Visual C++ 2005: "unresolved external symbol __imp__curl_easy_se

    Hi, I am planning to use libcurl in my project. I had downloaded the library source,built and integrated it in a small POC application. I am able to build and run the application without any issues with the generated libcurl.dll and libcurl_imp.lib files. Now when I integrate the same library in my project I am getting linker errors. 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_setopt 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_perform 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_cleanup 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_global_init 6foo.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol _imp_curl_easy_init I have researched and tried all manners of workarounds like adding CURL_STATICLIB definitions , additional libraries , changing to /MT even copying the libs to the release directory but nothing seems to work. As far as I can see the only difference between approach #1 and #2 in my steps are #1 is an console application using the libcurl.dll while in my main project this is another dll which is trying to link to libcurl.dll.. Would that necessitate any change in approach? Can I use the same generated multi threaded DLL /MD file for both(Tried /MT also with no success)? Any other ideas?     I built GNU Smalltalk from source on my Mac because I couldn't get it working using fink and I found VMs like Squeak hard to understand. When I run the gst command it works fine, but unlike command line interfaces such the Python and Lua ones, it is hard to use because when I use the left or right arrow keys, I want the cursor to move left or right, but instead it inserts text like "^[[D". I understand why it does this but is there any way to fix it so it is more usable?

Unfortunately, it seems that non-Adobe tools ignore the external stream feature. I hope I'm wrong, therefore ask the question: How to enable external streams in Mac OS X? (I think that all the system Mac OS X tools use the same library, therefore say "Mac OS X" instead of "Preview".) Or maybe there could be a programming hook to emulate external streams? My task is: store a big set of images (total ˜300Mb) outside of a small PDF (˜1Mb). At some moment, I want to filter PDF through a quartz filter and get a PDF with the images embedded. Any suggestions are welcome.

    I have a main cmake project which has a PROJECT_INCLUDE_PATH which is a cached variable. I pass this variable as a CMAKE_ARGS parameter to an external project that I add using ExternalProject_Add(). The problem is, when I change the value of the PROJECT_INCLUDE_PATH using 'make edit_cache' the external project is not reconfigured. Is there any way make the external project to be reconfigured and built automatically when the cached variable is changed in the main project?

    I'm looking for a NAS Adapter that supports attaching multiple USB devices to the network. Here's what I'd like to see in a NAS adapter: Under $100.00. Support for multiple devices. This can be through a USB hub or through multiple USB connectors on the device itself. Bittorrent support would be nice, but this isn't a deal-breaker. Filesystem support for at least NTFS or FAT32. I'd prefer to not have to reformat to use the device, but this is also not a deal-breaker. Here is what I am NOT looking for: I'm NOT looking for a NAS enclosure. I already have a couple of spare external USB drives that I'd like to use. I'm NOT looking for a networked USB hub like the one mentioned here. Network USB hubs only allow access to a drive from one PC at a time. I'm NOT looking for a wireless router with a NAS built in. I already have a wireless router, and I'd rather not go through the hassle of replacing it if possible. What I've looked at so far PogoPlug: This supports multiple devices via a USB hub, but there's not Bittorrent support. It's $99.00, so I may end up going with this and hope that they patch in Bittorrent support later. Addonics NAS Adapter: This supports only one device per adapter, so it's a non-starter. SimpleNET NAS Head USB 2.0 Portable Dongle: I'm not 100% sure this supports multiple devices. Plus there doesn't seem to be any Bittorrent support.     I have a six-month-old 1TB Seagate drive formatted into 2 NTFS partitions, and the disk appeared to be failing with Windows dropping down from UDMA to PIO mode, reporting Delayed Write Errors, and hanging Explorer when browsing directories. My initial suspicion was that the disk was dying. However, on further examination it appears that Ubuntu, which doesn't write to the volume frequently like Windows does, was able to read the disk properly and retrieve all the data intact, saving me from having to use an older backup. Finally, running the Seatools DOS diagnostic reported that the disk has no problems, ie. SMART errors and no bad sectors, apparently. This, in combination with the relative youth of the disk, suggests that something else is broken. The cable? The PSU? The integrated disk controller? But what would be a good way to diagnose the problem without risking damaging the data? I intend to extract the disk and try it in an external eSATA enclosure and see if the write errors cease, but in the event of the disk appearing to be fine, I would like to be able to confirm what part of the hardware is actually broken here in order to know just what needs replacing. Are there any good ways to go about this?

  • File transfer from MP3 player to computer

    I own an old 20GB Creative Zen jukebox (all external screws are gone on it LOL) and I would like to transfer files back to my PC to get them on my new iPod. Problem is, no matter what software I use (WinAMP, Creative Media Source or Windows Media Player), it just stops transferring files on my HD with an error message that says there is no more space on the destination folder. Problem is, there is still 320GB free. I tried lot of things like installing newer driver, latest Zen plug-in for Media Source, latest WinAMP version. Sometimes, it just works and then again, it stops working and I get this non-sense error. Restarting my PC sometime solves the issue by giving me enough time to transfer 10 or 15 more files and then I get the error again and again. Yesterday though I managed to transfer up to 3GB of MP3s on my computer before getting the error. Seems like I'm having a driver issue or a weird behavior from the player and/or the software I'm using. 3 different software can't reproduce the exact same issue by themselves so it must be something related to the driver. I can't find any post of any sort concerning such issue on old forums. Any idea?

    I have Window 7 Professional Service pack installed in my Laptop Lenovo Thinkpad t420. After formatting the disk, and install Window 7 (detailed as above), I went to Computer -- Manager -- Storage -- Disk Management to split my 300gb C partition into 2 partition: C (which is 162gb) E (which is 140gb) Is work fine for about 2 days. Today, when I turn on my computer, I'm very suprise that the E partition is disappear. I can surely confirm that I didn't do any stupid thing yesterday. And before I shut down my computer, everything was fine. In general, here is what I did during the last today (from the point that I formatted the disk, and installed Window) Format 300gb hard disk Install window 7 Install eclipse, db2, .... ( I'm a developer) Install some other tools (Open office, Skype...) Install PGP (http://www.symantec.com/encryption) <--- I'm forced to used that due to my company policy Use Computer -- Manager -- Storage -- Disk Management to split my 300gb C partition into 2 partition as described above.   • Where do I connect the HDD LED wires on my RAID adapter?

    I'm using a Promise FastTrak TX8660 with RAID 5. The manual (and Google) just doesn't seem to explain how exactly to connect a standard two-pin HDD LED wire to the eight available pins on the card. The Manual just says - To connect your LED, follow the following diagram: The card itself resembles the diagram: But it doesn't make any sense to me. All I have is a two-pin connecter for HDD LED on the front of my computer case. I don't need anything fancy like the fault LED or seperate indicators for each drive. I just want to be able to see when my RAID 5 array is working, that's all. I don't know what the "R" and "G" stand for, but my HDD LED wires are red and white. I tried connecting the red wire to the "R" pin and the white wire to the "G" pin, but that just makes the LED on the front of my case light up indefinitely, even when the computer is idle. Which pins am I suppose to connect the HDD LED header to for basic activity indication?

  • Why would my HDD main partition suddenly become hidden?

    A few days ago I was using my computer as usual and I turned it off. The next day it wouldn't boot up. It just stayed after the hardware diagnostic window on the intermittent underscore screen. So clearly It wasn't booting up. I tried turning it on and off a couple of times with no avail. Finally I used windows 7 disk and it seemed as if there was no HDD. not even the installation would see the HDD. So i thought it was dead, i bought a new one installed it with windows and used a external case with the old HDD. plug it in and still couldn't see it. I finally downloaded a partition program EASUS or something and my HDD was there listed WITHOUT a system letter. I could however explore it and i set it as Unhidden and it came back to life. I could see it normally. I really just wish someone could explain to me what happened here, was it a virus? does it means the HDD is about to die? How can i prevent this or what should I do now? should i stop using this OLD HDD? Thanks

  • Can not copy files from NTFS partition

    I am experiencing a weird problem. I was running Xubuntu on my laptop until yesterday that I had to delete Xubuntu and install Windows. I had a NTFS partition on my Xubuntu that I kept some files on it. Today after installing windows I wanted to move all the files from that partition to an external HDD. I selected all files and folders and clicked on Copy, then I went to the HDD and clicked on paste but nothing happened. I can not do that. I do not know why. I copy the files, and wherever I click paste, nothing happens. If I try to copy the files and folders one by one, I can copy some of them, but some of them do not move. The other problem I have is that I can not open some files, in particular pdf files. When I click on pdf files I get this error: There was an error opening this document. This file cannot be found. Also, I cannot play some mp4 files. I can not open some jpg and txt files. I get this error The directory name is invalid. So in summary, after removing Xubuntu and installing windows 7 I have the following problems with one of the NTFS partitions on my internal drive: Can not copy or cut all folders and files from that partition to any other partition - I also do not get any errors. Can copy some folders and files Can not access some pdf, jpeg, txt and mp4 files and get the above errors. I should also mention I did not change anything for this partition during the installation or formatting the other partitions.

    On my NAS QNAP TS 509 I do have a technical issue. I need to run e2fsck. This works fine for me on md0 (see below), but how can I unmount the busy devices md9 and sda4 in order to do the same. Whenever I try, I fail because the device is busy. [This part is solved, see below] In order to further track down the issue, I'd need to sort out the physical disk to device relationship. How can I find out this, e.g. md0 is a stripped volume on 2 disk (but I need to find out on what physical disk). Remark: As you can easily derive from my questions, I am not a Linux expert, but manage to get along. /dev/ram0 124.0M 94.1M 29.8M 76% / tmpfs 32.0M 80.0k 31.9M 0% /tmp /dev/sda4 310.0M 103.9M 206.1M 34% /mnt/ext /dev/md9 509.5M 39.2M 470.2M 8% /mnt/HDA_ROOT /dev/md0 1.8T 1.4T 444.7G 76% /share/MD0_DATA tmpfs 32.0M 0 32.0M 0% /.eaccelerator.tmp -- Added -- QNAP seems to be based on Busybox. I do not find something like init / telinit / runlevel. At busybox docs it says that I need to run the below. But in /var/service sv is not available. I want to go to single user mode to unmount the devices. # cd /var/service # sv d * # sv u getty* -- Added, thanks A4L -- This QNAP Box runs a special flavor of Linux, so not all SOPs do apply. In my particular case I found a services.sh script, stopping all services. After that the drive could be unmounted.   • windows 8.1 does not boot after CHKDSK command

    I had problem with Windows 8.1 high Disk usage so in order to solve , searched forums. A voted answer suggested to use CHKDSK command as follow: run command prompt and as administrator type code snippet below: CHKDSK /f /v /b C: (I can not remember accurately) CHKDSK printed : can not run CHKDSK right now , would you like to schedule C drive to be checked next time windows starts? (Y/N) my response was "Y" ,please ! Following this suggestion not only didn't solve my problem as expected but also added another one ! The next time system booted, after windows authentication I just could see a black screen and mouse pointer. So I force shut downed the system and tried to start windows again. This time , windows got stuck in Scanning and Repairing on 22% for around 3 hours so I got tired and forced shut downed again. is CHKDSK source of Scanning and Repairing problem or they are discrete ? is there any hope to overcome this problem without re-installing windows ? can any one else run CHKDSK on newer versions of windows without problem? is CHKDSK effective but inefficient ?(it finally get to end but will take a long time) If yes, how much time does it take? I also have Linux Ubuntu 14.04 installed along side windows.

  • Strange windows boot problem - My computer won't boot from hard disk

    Hello, Until yesterday, I had windows XP installed on my computer. After installing the OS, and setting the BIOS to boot from the hard-disk first, I discovered a strange problem - the OS wasn't booted and the only way I could get it to load was to insert a windows installation disk, enter repair mode, do "fixboot" and restart. The problem only occured when the computer was booted after shut-down. If I only restarted it, everything worked fine. Yesterday, I upgraded my XP to win7 and the problem persists. I tried the same "trick" I did with XP to get it to load, by entering repair and doing "bootrec /fixmbr" and "bootrec /fixboot" but that didn't work (and when I run "scanos" it didn't find any windows installations). Eventually, I got it to load by changing the settings in the BIOS to boot from CD first and HD second, removing the installation disk from the drive, letting it fail to boot from CD and then re-insert the disk. Anyone has any idea what may be the cause or how can I investigate this issue? Thanks! Marina

  • Why can't I boot in to Windows Recovery Environment to fix my HDD or salvage my data?

    I've been trying to get in to WindowsRE to salvage the files on my Sony Vaio laptop after it failed to load Vista (it finally, consistently displays "Error loading operating system" after months of such intermittent failures, usually rectified via restarts or utilizing Startup Repair or CHKDSK from WindowsRE) . The problem is, after successfully accessing it once after this failure (and many times before over the course of the laptop's life), I can no longer get it to load. During the last successful access (right after the failure), I ran startup repair, which itself failed and notified me that the boot sector was corrupt. I attempted to head in to Sony's proprietary recovery tools menu, which is accessible from WindowsRE when it is loaded from the recovery partition or recovery disk, however it hung. I have since been unable to access the recovery environment after restarting, using any of these methods: Access via the recovery partition (pressing F10 on boot) Access via recovery DVD (created using the same computer when it was healthy) Access via a Windows Vista installation DVD All three methods produce the same results: The computer acknowledges the boot attempt The computer successfully gets passed the "Windows is loading files" screen The computer successfully gets passed the Windows loading screen The computer then stalls at a black screen, while showing HDD activity (via indicator light). After a few minutes, the HDD activity ceases, and after a few more minutes, the over sized cursor that is utilized in WindowsRE appears on the black screen. The actual recovery environment, however, never appears, even after leaving the computer in such a state overnight. What is fustrating is that other bootable utilities, such as SeaTools for DOS and MemTest, boot up and run fine. In running perfectly normally, MemTest was able to produce a plethora of errors utilizing my RAM. I'm inclined to believe the RAM's faultiness may causing the WindowsRE booting to fail. Would this be a valid assumption? If I'm not mistaken, booting from external media utilizes the RAM, so such a reason is plausible, assuming my knowledge of bootloading is correct. Other than that, I can't figure out any reason why all the bootable utilities except WindowsRE run fine. Does anyone know what the problem is, or could be? Any solutions?

    Hello there, I want to add a new SSD and use it as system drive with Win7 x64 installed. As driver I chose newest Intel Rapid Storage driver (not MSAHCI). I know that I have to use AHCI as BIOS setting for optimal SSD read/write performance. But I'm also using 2 normal HDDs as separate RAID-0 SSD: Win7 HDD: RAID-0 HDD: RAID-0 If I set my BIOS on my ASUS P5W DH Deluxe to AHCI, my RAID-0 cant be recognized And If im using RAID as setting, maybe my SSD has not its top speed. But I'm not sure about that. In short: AHCI no RAID-0 RAID no optimal SSD performance (?) Now my question: Can I use RAID as BIOS setting and be sure, that theres no decrease in SSD performance? Google finds so many articles with similar topics and my head is just exploding. Two examples: - set AHCI and after installing OS switch to RAID as BIOS setting... what? - use a diskette and F6 while installing win7... really? O.o I thought those times are gone
