• How can I run Ruby specs and/or tests in MacVim without locking up MacVim?

  About 6 months ago I switched from TextMate to MacVim for all of my development work, which primarily consists of coding in Ruby, Ruby on Rails and JavaScript. With TextMate, whenever I needed to run a spec or a test, I could just command+R on the test or spec file and another window would open and the results would be displayed with the 'pretty' format applied. If the spec or test was a lengthy one, I could just continue working with the codebase since the test/spec was running in a separate process/window. After the test ran, I could click through the results directly to the corresponding line in the spec file. Tim Pope's excellent rails.vim plugin comes very close to emulating this behavior within the MacVim environment. Running :Rake when the current buffer is a test or spec runs the file then splits the buffer to display the results. You can navigate through the results and key through to the corresponding spot in the file. The problem with the rails.vim approach is that it locks up the MacVim window while the test runs. This can be an issue with big apps that might have a lot of setup/teardown built into the tests. Also, the visual red/green html results that TextMate displays (via --format pretty, I'm assuming) is a bit easier to scan than the split window. This guy came close about 18 mos ago: http://cassiomarques.wordpress.com/2009/01/09/running-rspec-files-from-vim-showing-the-results-in-firefox/ The script he has worked with a bit of hacking, but the tests still ran within MacVim and locked up the current window. Any ideas on how to fully replicate the TextMate behavior described above in MacVim? Thanks!

• VB dataset issue

  Hi. The idea was to create a message box that stores my user name, message, and post datetime into the database as messages are sent. Soon came to realise, what if the user changed his name? So I decided to use the user id (icn) to identify the message poster instead. However, my chunk of codes keep giving me the same error. Says that there are no rows in the dataset ds2. I've tried my Query on my SQL and it works perfectly so I really really need help to spot the error in my chunk of codes here. • Bluetooth in Java Mobile: Handling connections that go out of range

  I am trying to implement a server-client connection over the spp. After initializing the server, I start a thread that first listens for clients and then receives data from them. What's troubling me is how would the thread eventually die when a device goes out of range? Firstly, the call to receive.read(buffer) blocks so that the thread waits until it receives any data. If the device goes out of range, it would never proceed onward to check if meanwhile it has been interrupted. Secondly, it would never close the connection, i.e. the server would not accept the device once it goes back in range. Thanks! Any ideas would be highly appreciated! Merry Christmas!

  I have a GWT page where user enter data (start date, end date, etc.), then this data goes to the server via RPC call. On the server I want to generate Excel report with POI and let user save that file on their local machine.   I have a simple program that creates a thread, loops twenty times and then makes a call to close itself and perform the necessary cleanup. When I debug the program it reaches the ExitThread(); method and pauses, ignoring the printf(); I have set up after it to signal to me it's closed. Is this normal or am I forgetting to do something? • jQuery Dialog form serialize reposting incorrect data on subsequent uses

  I'm working with forms inside jQuery Dialog, and am having some issues with the data it's posting. First load and save works fine, posts the correct data. All it does it spit out the input fron the client script, which is right. • jQuery ajax post of jpg image to .net webservice. Image results corrupted

  I have a phonegap jquery app that opens the camera and take a picture. I then POST this picture to a .net webservice, wich I've coded. I can't use phonegap FileTransfer because such isn't supported by Bada os, wich is a requirement. I believe I've successfully loaded the image from phonegap FileSystem API, I've attached it into an .ajax type:post, I've even received it from .net side, but when .net save the image into the server, the image results corrupted. It seems to me that two sides of the communication have different data type. Has anyone experience in this? Any help will be appreciated. • Reading bmp file for encrypting and decrypting txt file into it

  I am trying to read a bmp file in C++(Turbo). But i m not able to print binary stream. I want to encode txt file into it and decrypt it. How can i do this. I read that bmp file header is of 54 byte. But how and where should i append txt file in bmp file. ?   I am a new to db4o. I have a big problem with persistance of a graph of objects. I am trying to migrate from old persistance component to new, using db4o. • Best way to use PL/SQL Pacakge Cursors from Pro*C

  I have a cursor defined in PL/SQL, and I am wondering what the best way to use it from Pro*C is. Normally for a cursor defined in Pro*C you would do: EXEC SQL DECLARE curs CURSOR FOR SELECT 1 FROM DUAL; EXEC SQL OPEN curs; EXEC SQL FETCH curs INTO :foo; EXEC SQL CLOSE cusr; I was hoping that the same (or similar) syntax would work for a packaged cursor. For example, I have a package MyPack, with a declaration type MyType is record (X integer); cursor MyCurs(x in integer) return MyType; Now I have in my Pro*C code a rather unsatisfying piece of embedded PL/SQL that opens the cursor, does the fetching etc., as I couldn't get the first style of syntax to work. Using the example EXEC SQL EXECUTE DECLARE XTable is table of MyPack.MyType; BEGIN OPEN MyPack.MyCurs(:param); FETCH MyPack.MyCurs INTO XTable; CLOSE MyPack.MyCurs; END; END-EXEC; Does anyone know if there is a more "Pure" Pro*C approach?

• Visual Studio project remains "stuck" when stopped

  Hi, Currently developing a connector DLL to HP's Quality Center. I'm using their (insert expelative) COM API to connect to the server. An Interop wrapper gets created automatically by VStudio. My solution has 2 projects: the DLL and a tester application - essentially a form with buttons that call functions in the DLL. Everything works well - I can create defects, update them and delete them. When I close the main form, the application stops nicely. But when I call a function that returns a list of all available projects (to fill a combo box), if I close the main form, VStudio still shows the solution as running and I have to stop it. I've managed to pinpoint a single function in my code that when I call, the solution remains "hung" and if I don't, it closes well. It's a call to a property in the TDC object get_VisibleProjects that returns a List (not the .Net one, but a type in the COM library) - I just iterate over it and return a proper list (that I later use to fill the combo box): public List<string> GetAvailableProjects() { List<string> projects = new List<string>(); foreach (string project in this.tdc.get_VisibleProjects(qcDomain)) { projects.Add(project); } return projects; } My assumption is that something gets retained in memory. If I run the EXE outside of VStudio it closes - but who knows what gets left behind in memory? My question is - how do I get rid of whatever calling this property returns? Shouldn't the GC handle this? Do I need to delve into pointers? Things I've tried: getting the list into a variable and setting it to null at the end of the function Adding a destructor to the class and nulling the tdc object Stepping through the tester function application all the way out, whne the form closes and the Main function ends - it closes, but VStudio still shows I'm running.
