  • Not getting concept of null

    Hy Guys, Beginning with mysql. I am not able to grasp the concept of NULL. Check screen-shot (*declare_not_null, link*). In it when I specifically declared 'name' field to be NOT NULL. When i run the 'desc test' table command, the table description shows default value for name field to be NULL.Why is that so? From what I have read about NULL, it connotes a missing or information that is not applicable. So when I declare a field to be NOT NULL it implies (as per my understanding) that user must enter a value for the name field else the DB engine should generate an error i.e. record will not be entered in DB. However when i run 'insert into test value();' the DB engine enters the record in table. Check screen-shot(*empty_value, link*).     I have a mysq query which gets including some vars like that: messages TABLE receiver cols user1 rows : 1,3,5 user2 rows : 2,3 user3 rows : 1,4 I want to get rows which includes '3' value. So I will get 'user1' and 'user2'. I tried that but naturally it doesn't work. mysql_query("SELECT * FROM messages WHERE receiver='3'"); How can I do this?

    Situation i have: textbox(to input your name) on form1. From that form1 on button click i go to form2. From form2 button click to form3. On form3 on button click i need to writte me in empty textbox value from textbox on form1 that user wrote down. example: on form1 in textbox1 i write my name "Djuzla". When i go to form3 and click button to see what name i wrote in form1 it should show in empty textbox3 form3 "Djuzla". I'm stuck with this few hours now, and it stupid problem but i have no idea what to do next.. tried all from zillion theards on net :p

    It is better to explain my intention with code. So right now I have the following code: class A, IInterfaceUsedByB { } class B { void func(A someObject) { func2(someObject, 1); func3(someObject, "string"); func4(someObject, new MyObject()); } func2(A someObject, int val); func3(A someObject, string val); func4(A someObject, C val); } Where func2, func3, func4 do need references to someObject. I want to change this to void func() { with(someObject, () => { func2(1); func3("string"); func4(new MyObject()); } ); } Or even better to void func(someObject) { func2(1); func3("string"); func4(new MyObject()); } So that I don't have to drag this someObject around, but I should still be able to use it inside func2,3,4. I can use any of the three languages (C#, F# or IronPython) for this. UPDATE In the ideal solution class B would be independent of A. func* functions only depend on a small interface of A consisting of 2 methods.

    I'm trying to get the result of my web service as an array and then loop over the result to fetch all of the data; what I have done so far: In my web service when I return the result I use return json_encode($newFiles); and the result is as following: "[{\"path\":\"c:\\\\my_images\\\\123.jpg\",\"ID\":\"123\",\"FName\":\"John\",\"LName\":\"Brown\",\"dept\":\"Hr\"}]" tehn in my Web application I'm calling the rest web service by the following code in the RestService class: public function getNewImages($time) { $url = $this->rest_url['MyService'] . "?action=getAllNewPhotos&accessKey=" . $this->rest_key['MyService'] . "&lastcheck=" . $time; $ch = curl_init(); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); $data = curl_exec($ch); if ($data) { return json_decode($data); } else { return null; } } and then in my controller I have the following code: public function getNewImgs($time="2011-11-03 14:35:08") { $newImgs = $this->restservice->getNewImages($time); echo json_encode$newImgs; } and I'm calling this `enter code here`controller method by AJAX: $("#searchNewImgManually").click(function(e) { e.preventDefault(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", async: true, datatype: "json", url: "<?PHP echo base_url("myProjectController/getNewImgs"); ?>", success: function(imgsResults) { alert(imgsResults[0]); } }); }); but instead of giving me the first object it is just giving me quotation mark (the first charachter of the result) " Why is that?   • Function 'didFinishLaunchingWithOptions' getting invoked inappropriately

    I connected my IOS device to a MAC processor and installed/initialized my app running in xcode or dragged it from itunes folder. Now i physically disconnected my device from the processor and through wifi enabled in the device, sent notifications/messages through APNS to the device. I was able to successfully receive notifications in the device. Now after some time, i reconnected the device to the processor, which lead to a problem of the app launching again and calling 'didFinishLaunchingWithOptions' method again, which is not desirable as the launch/initialization should happen only once. This behaviour is random ie. every time when i disconnect/reconnect, it is not happening, only sometimes. Why is this happening. What could be the reason for this random behaviour. Any help will be appreciated.Thanks

  • Getting id of row just inserted into MySQL database

    I have my table columns set like this: likes(id, like_message, timestamp) id is the primary key that is auto incrementing. This is the SQL that I use to add a row: $sql = "INSERT INTO `likes` (like_message, timestamp) VALUES ('$likeMsg', $timeStamp)"; Everything works, but now I need to throw back the id attribute of the newly inserted row. For example, if I insert a row and the id of that row is 13, I need to echo out 13 so my AJAX request can pick that up and use it. Any help would be appreciated, as well as related code samples.     Hi, I have a ListView. I populate it with 8 items, that's all that fits vertically on the G1. Some of my users are saying the Droid has a taller screen height, and so I can probably add one or two more items to the ListView to take up the additional space provided. How could I measure the available height the screen offers at startup, before the UI is displayed? If I see the height can fit more than 8 items, I'd like to add one or two more rows, Thanks

    I got a little problem i need a sql query that gives all rows back that only contains 0 in it. the column is defined as varchar2(6) the values in the column looks like this: 0 00 00 100 bc00 000000 00000 my first solution would be like this: Oracle: substr('000000' || COLUMN_NAME, -6) = '000000' SQL Server: right('000000' + COLUMN_NAME, 6) = '000000' is there an other way?
