• Copying data from STDOUT to a remote machine using SFTP

  In order to backup large database partitions to a remote machine using SFTP, I'd like to use the databases dump command and send it directly over using SFTP to a remote location. This is useful when needing to dump large data sets when you don't have enough local disk space to create the backup file, and then copy it to a remote location. I've tried using python + paramiko which provides this functionality, but the performance much worse than using the native openssh/sftp binary to transfer files. Does anyone have any idea on how to do this either with the native sftp client on linux, or some library like paramiko? (but one that performs close to the native sftp client)?

  I've few questions on Android Framework. Can someone please answer them i) What does an Android Framework do? What is it's job? ii) What are these managers - Activity Manager, Location Manager etc? Are they APIs or libraries? iii) I heard that the definition of a framework is - a set of libraries that say “Don’t call us, we’ll call you.” So can I say that Activity Manager, Location Manager etc are such libraries? Or is it that they are not libraries but APIs (used to access underlying c/c++ libraries) and the actual libraries that do "Don't call us, we'll call you." are hidden from us?

• Rails 3 - development errors in production mode

  Im using Rails, Passenger (both are 3.0.5) and Nginx on my production server. As I heard, Rails should show public/404.html or public/500.html instead of development errors like ActiveRecord::RecordNotFound or Unknown action but that doesn't happen. I've tried to delete config.ru file and set rack_env or rails_env in nginx.conf but nothing helped. UPD: I have both development and production apps on same PC. In production Rails ignores config.consider_all_requests_local = false (in /config/environments/production.rb) due to local_request? method. • jQuery/Ajax/javascript in FireFox Error when using $.post/$.get

This only happens in firefox (and maybe other browsers) but the code works fine in IE8. • How to do steps of an API through CLI/ batch mode without GUI

  I'm using Audiveris API to generate xml(MusicXML) file once the sheetmusic(e.g. pdf/img file) is being input (i.e. When I give the sheet music (pdf file) location, to generate the xml file out of it (in another location)). Audiveris has its own GUI to do this. But can I do this process of sheetmusic-to-xml without using their GUI, but only from the CLI? If so how may I approach it? And also if so - is there a possibility to make it work in CLI - using Java code (say to invoke steps for API to occur in the CLI using Java Code - I've heard this is possible using shell commands)? I managed to open the GUI by opening the jar file from CLI. But I need to know whether there's a possibility to carry out the entire sheetmusic(say pdf)-to-xml process without using their GUI, but only through CLI (i.e. in batch mode)? Greatly appreciate any help or guidance Thanks in advance

• jquery load php file - result is not complete

  I'm trying to load or better reload a DIV with content from an included php file. so the file is included in the webadmin.php from the location webadmin/pages.php. Then i alter some data in the DB through serializing. Now I would like to reload the pages.php from the callback of the serialize POST with load();. This all works fine up until the moment the data is supposed to be displayed in the div - i believe its because the php file is loaded from a different location, so the include paths for the DB Connection etc are probably wrong... Should I really write an extra PHP File for jquery or is there a way to tell jquery where to load it from? Its the first time I'm doing this - so bear with me for a moment on this one... Thanks! • Is it possible to group validation?

  I am using a lot of my own validation methods to compare the data from one association to the other. I've noticed that I'm constantly checking that my associations aren't nil before trying to call anything on them, but I am also validating their presence, and so I feel that my nil checks are redundant. Here's an example: class House < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :enterance, :class => Door has_one :exit, :class => Door validates_presence_of :enterance, :exit validate :not_a_fire_hazard def not_a_fire_hazard if enterance && exit && enterance.location != exit.location errors.add_to_base('If there is a fire you will most likely die') return false end end end I feel like I am repeating myself by checking the existence of enterance and exit within my own validation.   I'm looking to create a basic Javascript implementation of a projectile that follows a parabolic arc (or something close to one) to arrive at a specific point. I'm not particularly well versed when it comes to complex mathematics and have spent days reading material on the problem. Unfortunately, seeing mathematical solutions is fairly useless to me. I'm ideally looking for pseudo code (or even existing example code) to try to get my head around it. Everything I find seems to only offer partial solutions to the problem. In practical terms, I'm looking to simulate the flight of an arrow from one location (the location of the bow) to another. It strikes me there are two distinct problems here: determining the position of interception between the projectile and a (moving) target, and then calculating the trajectory of the projectile. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  I have a set of nodes that define streets. Each node has latitude and longitude. Also I have user location with latitude and longitude. My intention is to build Voronoi diagram for segments defined by each pair of nodes, and then find which node user location is closest to. Looks like this task can be accomplished with CGAL library. While I'm in the process of compiling it for iOS environment, probably you guys will be able to give links to libs that are already compiled against iOS, or were intended to be used in Objective C environment from the very beginning... Because I'm afraid that even if CGAL compiles for me, I might get into trouble when using it. Thanks!

  Hey Guys, I am trying to generate a full rss feed, however when loading the feed in Mail, it just shows the title, with a read more link at the bottom. I have tried several different options. But none seem to work. I would like to generate the feed with a combination of several feeds in my modl. • I DISTINCTly hate MySQL (help building a query)

  This is staight forward I believe: I have a table with 30,000 rows. When I SELECT DISTINCT 'location' FROM myTable it returns 21,000 rows, about what I'd expect, but it only returns that one column. What I want is to move those to a new table, but the whole row for each match. My best guess is something like SELECT * from (SELECT DISTINCT 'location' FROM myTable) or something like that, but it says I have a vague syntax error. Is there a good way to grab the rest of each DISTINCT row and move it to a new table all in one go?

  For everyone that was thinking of the error_reporting() function, then it isn't, what I need is whenever a MySQL query has been done, and the statement has like if($result) { echo "Yes, it was fine... bla bla"; } else { echo "Obviously, the echo'ing will show in a white page with the text ONLY..."; } Whenever statements have been true or false, I want the error to be appeared when redirected with the header() function and echo the error reporting in a div somewhere on the page. Basically something like this: $error = ''; This part appears inside the div tags <div><?php echo $error; ?></div> So the error part will be echoed when redirected with the header() if($result) { $error = "Yes, it was fine... bla bla"; header("Location: url"); } else { $error = "Something wrong happened..."; header("Location: url"); } But that just doesn't work :(

• Ria Services loading foreign keys with Linq-to-SQL

  I have a database that consists of 5 tables : Course, Category, Location, CourseCategories, and CourseLocations. The last 2 tables just contain the two foreign keys. A Course has many-to-many relationships with both category and location. I am trying to load the data into a Silverlight app using Ria Services. My DB model is Linq-to-SQL. I have tried adding the [Include] attribute to the metadata classes and I have added the DataLoadOptions so it should load the all tables when you ask for a Course. However on the client side I am never getting back any entries in the CourseCategories and CourseLocations properties. What else needs to be done to get the foreign key relationships to exist across the serialization.

  Hi, First thing I would say is that I am a Drupal newbie. So, I would appreciate your answer in a detailed step by step process. I am using Drupal 6 and location module. There are two main content types - user profile (using content profile module) and event content type. Both have one field for location. Now, lets suppose in his profile, user is selecting city as Toronto and province as Ontario. And some events have been added for Toronto city. I need one Views, which will display events from user city. So, if user is from Vancouver, and they click on "my city events", they will see list of events from their city. Someone told me that I can achieve this using arguments/ relationships, but I don't know how to do that. Can someone please help me out? I am not good at PHP either :(

  I have a project in that we have to represent some graphic objects on a usercontrol in WYSIWYG. Also is required to edit each objects properties(Color, Location, etc). I hesitate between using PropertyGrid ('direct' properties edit) and custom forms on DoubleClick ('indirect' edit). The PropertyGrid is very well but should correspond a some criteria: Only selected properties are Displayed (by e.g. if I have TextRectangle want display only Text and Location); Property names should be customizable and internationalizable (by e.g. TextRectangle Text property should be named "Company Name" or "???????? ???????????"). Now about is it possible I think the answer could be Yes, but is it reasonable to use it if we have not a lot of time. What could be quicker implemented, custom forms or Property panel?

  Hi All, I have created a deployment file(msi) using VS Setup project. This msi file create a shortcut in desktop.During deployment I have added some predefined data files (.xml/text) into it.Application shortcut working fine i.e. it open the application and running fine. But once I delete some data files from installation location, and then click application shortcut, it started installing the application and copied all those files into the original installation location again. I wonder if, even though there is no USA locations, it will still send at least something? is there a way to know which are the parameters the function is waiting for? I don't have access to the source of the webservice but i can access the WSDL.

Take a look at this code: public void SerializeToXML(String FileName) { XmlSerializer fSerializer = new XmlSerializer(typeof(Configuration)); using (Stream fStream = new FileStream(FileName, FileMode.Create, FileAccess.Write, FileShare.None)) { fSerializer.Serialize(fStream, this); } } The problem is that when the user does not have rights to the location on hard disk, this function will not throw me any exception and do not save my file. For example saving to "C:\test.xml" act like nothing happened. And I would like to know if the file has not been saved and it would be good to know the reason why. I know that I could check if the file on given location exists and throw an exception manualy but shouldn't this be done by the XmlSerializer or FileStream itself? Thanks for your time
