  • Jquery dependent dropdown doesn't work in IE

    - by earlyriser
    I have a 3 dropdowns: countries, states, and cities. States and cities are dependent of the previous form and loaded via AJAX. In Firefox and Chrome everything is ok, but in IE (8 in my case) when I select a state, the cities dropdown isn't loaded. It is like IE don't detect the change. It is not a load problem, because I have tested with a simple alert box. Any help will be really appreciated. The states loaded page is similar to: <div id="states"> <select id="woeid_state"> <option value="1">Alabama</option> <option value="2">Florida</option> </select> </div> The cities loaded page is similar to: <div id="towns"> <select id="woeid_town"> <option value="100">Miami</option> <option value="101">Orlando</option> </select> </div> The JS $(document).ready(function() { function loadStates( parent_woeid ) { $('#states').load("<?php echo $states_page?>"+parent_woeid); return false; } function loadCities( parent_woeid ) { $('#towns').load("<?php echo $cities_page;?>/admin1/"+parent_woeid); return false; } $("#woeid_country").change(function() { //alert("I am an alert box"); var country = $("select#woeid_country").val(); loadStates ( country); }); $("#states").change(function() { //alert("I am an alert box"); var admin1 = $("select#woeid_state").val(); loadCities ( admin1 ); }); }); The form: <form class="ordinary_form" method="post" action=""> <label>Country</label> <select name="woeid_country" id="woeid_country"> <option value="23424975">United Kingdom</option> <option value="23424977">United States</option> <option value="23424979">Uruguay</option> <option value="23424980">Uzbekistan</option> <option value="23424907">Vanuatu</option> <option value="23424982">Venezuela</option> <option value="23424984">Vietnam</option> </select> <label>State/Province</label> <div id="states"></div> <label>City</label> <div id="towns"></div> </form>

  • Event bubbling with img tags?

    - by Kenny Bones
    I did some googling and figured I'm probably experiencing so called "event bubbling" that I've never heard of but are not surprised by it's existance. I want it to fire only once and I'm wondering how to fix this. Basically, I have this small code snippet: $('.bggallery_images').click(function () { alert('test'); }); This is supposed to fire once from a php snippet that basically adds an image of each image from a specific folder. It then outputs an echo string where each image has the class of "bggallery_images". PHP snippet looks like this: <?php $dirname = "img"; $images = scandir($dirname); $ignore = Array(".", ".."); foreach($images as $file) { if(!in_array($file, $ignore)) { echo "<img class=\"bggallery_images\" src=\"$dirname/$file\" />"; }; } ?> This all generates the html markup that looks like this for each image: <img src="img/WhitePattern6.gif" class="bggallery_images"> What is happening here? Here's the rendered output from FireBug: <div id="gallery_lightbox" style="height: 215px; z-index: 4; display: block;"> <div id="close"></div> <h2><cufon class="cufon cufon-canvas" alt="Velg " style="width: 39px; height: 20px;"><canvas width="49" height="23" style="width: 49px; height: 23px; top: -4px; left: 0px;"></canvas><cufontext>Velg </cufontext></cufon><cufon class="cufon cufon-canvas" alt="bakgrunnsbilde" style="width: 123px; height: 20px;"><canvas width="129" height="23" style="width: 129px; height: 23px; top: -4px; left: 0px;"></canvas><cufontext>bakgrunnsbilde</cufontext></cufon></h2> <div class="bggallery_images">testererererer</div> <img src="img/Bakgrunner/4462-v4.jpg" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/5922.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/BluePattern.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/Brown1.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/Brown2Pattern.jpg" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/BrownPattern.jpg" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/Brownn.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/GrayPattern.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/GreenPattern3.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/OrangePattern.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/PurplePattern.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/PurplePattern2.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/RedPattern3.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/RedPattern4.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/RedPattern5.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/Tiled_Wallpaper__Green_Texture_by_knitetgantt.png" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/WhitePattern4.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/WhitePattern5.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/WhitePattern6.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/WhitePattern7.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/WhitePurple.jpg" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/YellowPattern.gif" class="bggallery_images"><img src="img/Bakgrunner/vintage-wallpaper.jpg" class="bggallery_images"> </div>

  • jQuery JSON encode set of input values

    - by gurun8
    I need tp serialize a group of input elements but I can't for the life of me figure out this simple task. I can successfully iterate through the targeted inputs using: $("#tr_Features :input").each(function() { ... } Here's my code, that doesn't work: var features = new Array(); $("#tr_Features :input").each(function() { features += {$(this).attr("name"): $(this).val()}; } Serializing the entire form won't give me what I need. The form has much more than this subset of inputs. This seems like it should be a pretty straightforward task but apparently programming late into a Friday afternoon isn't a good thing. If it's helpful, here's the form inputs I'm targeting: <table cellspacing="0" border="0" id="TblGrid_list" class="EditTable" cellpading="0"> <tbody><tr id="tr_Features" class="FormData" rowpos="1"> <td class="CaptionTD ui-widget-content">Cable Family</td> <td id="td_Features" class="DataTD ui-widget-content" style="white-space: pre;">&nbsp;<input type="text" value="" id="feature_id:8" name="feature_id:8"></td> </tr> <tr id="tr_Features" class="FormData" rowpos="1"> <td class="CaptionTD ui-widget-content">Material</td> <td id="td_Features" class="DataTD ui-widget-content" style="white-space: pre;">&nbsp;<input type="text" value="" id="feature_id:9" name="feature_id:9"></td> </tr> <tr id="tr_Features" class="FormData" rowpos="1"> <td class="CaptionTD ui-widget-content">Thread Size</td> <td id="td_Features" class="DataTD ui-widget-content" style="white-space: pre;">&nbsp;<input type="text" value="" id="feature_id:10" name="feature_id:10"></td> </tr> <tr id="tr_Features" class="FormData" rowpos="1"> <td class="CaptionTD ui-widget-content">Attachment Style</td> <td id="td_Features" class="DataTD ui-widget-content" style="white-space: pre;">&nbsp;<input type="text" value="" id="feature_id:11" name="feature_id:11"></td> </tr> <tr id="tr_Features" class="FormData" rowpos="1"> <td class="CaptionTD ui-widget-content">Feature</td> <td id="td_Features" class="DataTD ui-widget-content" style="white-space: pre;">&nbsp;<input type="text" value="" id="feature_id:12" name="feature_id:12"></td> </tr> <tr id="tr_Features" class="FormData" rowpos="1"> <td class="CaptionTD ui-widget-content">Comments</td> <td id="td_Features" class="DataTD ui-widget-content" style="white-space: pre;">&nbsp;<input type="text" value="" id="feature_id:13" name="feature_id:13"></td> </tr> </tbody></table>

  • Delete / Remove node from XPathNodeIterator, given an XPath

    - by RymdPung
    First of all, if someone has a different, perhaps shorter (or better), solution to the problem, it's welcome as well. I'm trying to "simply" remove (almost) duplicate elements in XSLT. There's some (metadata) nodes i don't want to include when comparing, and i couldn't figure out how do do that in XSLT so thought i'd extend it with a function removing these nodes. Like so: <xsl:for-each select="abx:removeNodes(d/df600|d/df610|d/df611|d/df630|d/df650|d/df651|d/df655, '*[@key=&quot;i1&quot; or @key=&quot;i2&quot; or key=&quot;db&quot;]')"> <xsl:if test="not(node()=preceding-sibling::*)"> blah </xsl:if> </xsl:for-each> And the extension, which doesn't work so well... (C#) public XPathNodeIterator removeNodes(XPathNodeIterator p_NodeIterator, String removeXPath) { Logger Logger = new Logger("xslt"); Logger.Log("removeNodes(removeXPath={0}):", removeXPath); foreach (XPathNavigator CurrentNode in p_NodeIterator) { Logger.Log("removeNodes(): CurrentNode.OuterXml={0}.", CurrentNode.OuterXml); foreach (XPathNavigator CurrentSubNode in CurrentNode.Select(removeXPath)) { Logger.Log("removeNodes(): CurrentSubNode.OuterXml={0}.", CurrentSubNode.OuterXml); // How do i delete this node!? //CurrentSubNode.DeleteSelf(); } } return p_NodeIterator; } My initial approach using 'CurrentSubNode.DeleteSelf();' doesn't work because it gets confused and loses its position in the XPathNavigator, causing it to only delete the first item it finds using "removeXPath". Something like a DeleteAndMoveNext() would be nice but there seems to be no such method... Example data: <df650> <df650 key="i1"> </df650> <df650 key="i2">0</df650> <df650 key="a">foo</df650> <df650 key="x">bar</df650> <df650 key="db">someDB</df650> <df650 key="id">b2</df650> <df650 key="dsname">someDS</df650> </df650> ..and then another identical node (if you ignore the meta fields; db,id,dsname). <df650> <df650 key="i1"> </df650> <df650 key="i2">0</df650> <df650 key="a">foo</df650> <df650 key="x">bar</df650> <df650 key="db">someOtherDB</df650> <df650 key="id">b2</df650> <df650 key="dsname">someOtherDS</df650> </df650> The result should be... <df650> <df650 key="i1"> </df650> <df650 key="i2">0</df650> <df650 key="a">foo</df650> <df650 key="x">bar</df650> </df650>

  • SVG: About using <defs> and <use> with variable text values

    - by Lukman
    Hi, I have the following SVG source code that generates a number of boxes with texts: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-SVG-20050904/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" version="1.1" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" width="600" height="600"> <defs> </defs> <title>Draw</title> <g transform="translate(50,40)"> <rect width="80" height="30" x="0" y="-20" style="stroke: black; stroke-opacity: 1; stroke-width: 1; fill: #9dc2de" /> <text text-anchor="middle" x="40">Text</text> </g> <g transform="translate(150,40)"> <rect width="80" height="30" x="0" y="-20" style="stroke: black; stroke-opacity: 1; stroke-width: 1; fill: #9dc2de" /> <text text-anchor="middle" x="40">Text 2</text> </g> <g transform="translate(250,40)"> <rect width="80" height="30" x="0" y="-20" style="stroke: black; stroke-opacity: 1; stroke-width: 1; fill: #9dc2de" /> <text text-anchor="middle" x="40">Text 3</text> </g> </svg> As you can see, I repeated the <g></g> three times to get three such boxes, when SVG has <defs> and <use> elements that allow reusing elements using id references instead of repeating their definitions. Something like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <!DOCTYPE svg PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD SVG 1.0//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/2001/REC-SVG-20050904/DTD/svg11.dtd"> <svg xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2000/svg" version="1.1" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" width="600" height="600"> <defs> <marker style="overflow:visible;fill:inherit;stroke:inherit" id="Arrow1Mend" refX="0.0" refY="0.0" orient="auto"> <path transform="scale(0.4) rotate(180) translate(20,0)" style="fill-rule:evenodd;stroke-width:2.0pt;marker-start:none;" d="M 0.0,-15.0 L -20.5,0.0 L 0.0,15.0 "/> </marker> <line marker-end="url(#Arrow1Mend)" id="systemthread" x1="40" y1="10" x2="40" y2="410" style="stroke: black; stroke-dasharray: 5, 5; stroke-width: 1; "/> </defs> <title>Draw</title> <use xlink:href="#systemthread" transform="translate(50,40)" /> <use xlink:href="#systemthread" transform="translate(150,40)" /> <use xlink:href="#systemthread" transform="translate(250,40)" /> </svg> Unfortunately I can't do this with the first SVG code since I need the texts to be different for each box, while the <use> tag simply duplicates 100% what's defined in <defs>. Is there any way to use <defs> and <use> with some kind of parameters/arguments mechanism like function calls?

  • Resolve naming conflict in included XSDs for JAXB compilation

    - by Jason Faust
    I am currently trying to compile with JAXB (IBM build 2.1.3) a pair of schema files into the same package. Each will compile on it's own, but when trying to compile them together i get a element naming conflict due to includes. My question is; is there a way to specify with an external binding a resolution to the naming collision. Example files follow. In the example the offending element is called "Common", which is defined in both incA and incB: incA.xsd <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <schema xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://www.example.org/" xmlns:tns="http://www.example.org/" elementFormDefault="qualified"> <complexType name="TypeA"> <sequence> <element name="ElementA" type="string"></element> </sequence> </complexType> <!-- Conflicting element --> <element name="Common" type="tns:TypeA"></element> </schema> incB.xsd <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <schema xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="http://www.example.org/" xmlns:tns="http://www.example.org/" elementFormDefault="qualified"> <complexType name="TypeB"> <sequence> <element name="ElementB" type="int"></element> </sequence> </complexType> <!-- Conflicting element --> <element name="Common" type="tns:TypeB"></element> </schema> A.xsd <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <schema targetNamespace="http://www.example.org/" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:tns="http://www.example.org/"> <include schemaLocation="incA.xsd"></include> <complexType name="A"> <sequence> <element ref="tns:Common"></element> </sequence> </complexType> </schema> B.xsd <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <schema targetNamespace="http://www.example.org/" elementFormDefault="qualified" xmlns="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:tns="http://www.example.org/"> <include schemaLocation="incB.xsd"></include> <complexType name="B"> <sequence> <element ref="tns:Common"></element> </sequence> </complexType> </schema> Compiler error when both are compiled from one evocation of xjb: [ERROR] 'Common' is already defined line 9 of file:/C:/temp/incB.xsd [ERROR] (related to above error) the first definition appears here line 9 of file:/C:/temp/incA.xsd (For reference, this is a generalization to resolve an issue with compiling the OAGIS8 SP3 package)

  • IE7 is making my life miserable! Getting gaps between html table columns (w/ colspan) with css togg

    - by Art Peterson
    Copy/paste this html code snippet and try it out in IE7. When you toggle the hidden columns it leaves a gap between the columns. In Firefox it works fine, the columns touch when minimized. Haven't tried IE8 yet, would be curious to hear how it works there. Any ideas? I've tried a bunch of things in the CSS like table-layout:fixed but no luck. Note: Not looking for a different toggling method because the table I'm really dealing with is 50+ columns wide and 4000+ rows so looping/jquery techniques are too slow. Here's the code - if someone can re-post a working version of it I'll instantly give them the check and be forever in your debt! <DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/strict.dtd"> <html> <head> <script> function toggle() { var tableobj = document.getElementById("mytable"); if (tableobj.className == "") { tableobj.className = "hide1 hide2"; } else { tableobj.className = ""; } } </script> <style> table { border-collapse: collapse; } td, th { border: 1px solid silver; } .hide1 .col1 { display: none; } .hide2 .col2 { display: none; } </style> </head> <body> <input type="button" value="toggle" onclick="toggle();" /> <table id="mytable"> <tr> <th>A</th> <th colspan="2">B</th> <th colspan="2" class="col1">B1</th> <th colspan="2">C</th> <th colspan="2" class="col2">C1</th> </tr> <tr> <td>123</td> <td>456</td> <td>789</td> <td class="col1">123</td> <td class="col1">456</td> <td>789</td> <td>123</td> <td class="col2">456</td> <td class="col2">789</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>

  • onCommand on button not firing inside gridView??

    - by sah302
    This is really driving me crazy. I've got a button inside a gridview to remove that item from the gridview (its datasource is a list). I've got the list being saved to session anytime a change is being made to it, and on page_load check if that session variable is empty, if not, then set that list to bind to the gridview. Code Behind: Public accomplishmentTypeDao As New AccomplishmentTypeDao() Public accomplishmentDao As New AccomplishmentDao() Public userDao As New UserDao() Public facultyDictionary As New Dictionary(Of Guid, String) Public facultyList As New List(Of User) Public associatedFaculty As New List(Of User) Public facultyId As New Guid Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Load 'If Not Session("associatedFaculty") Is Nothing Then' ' Dim associatedFacultyArray As User() = DirectCast(Session("associatedFaculty"), User())' ' associatedFaculty = associatedFacultyArray.ToList()' 'End If' Page.Title = "Add a New Faculty Accomplishment" ddlAccomplishmentType.DataSource = accomplishmentTypeDao.getEntireTable() ddlAccomplishmentType.DataTextField = "Name" ddlAccomplishmentType.DataValueField = "Id" ddlAccomplishmentType.DataBind() facultyList = userDao.getListOfUsersByUserGroupName("Faculty") For Each faculty As User In facultyList facultyDictionary.Add(faculty.Id, faculty.LastName & ", " & faculty.FirstName) Next If Not Page.IsPostBack Then ddlFacultyList.DataSource = facultyDictionary ddlFacultyList.DataTextField = "Value" ddlFacultyList.DataValueField = "Key" ddlFacultyList.DataBind() End If gvAssociatedUsers.DataSource = associatedFaculty gvAssociatedUsers.DataBind() End Sub Protected Sub deleteUser(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.CommandEventArgs) facultyId = New Guid(e.CommandArgument.ToString()) associatedFaculty.Remove(associatedFaculty.Find(Function(user) user.Id = facultyId)) Session("associatedFaculty") = associatedFaculty.ToArray() gvAssociatedUsers.DataBind() upAssociatedFaculty.Update() End Sub Protected Sub btnAddUser_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles btnAddUser.Click facultyId = New Guid(ddlFacultyList.SelectedValue) associatedFaculty.Add(facultyList.Find(Function(user) user.Id = facultyId)) Session.Add("associatedFaculty", associatedFaculty.ToArray()) gvAssociatedUsers.DataBind() upAssociatedFaculty.Update() End Sub Protected Sub Delete(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Web.UI.WebControls.CommandEventArgs) End Sub End Class Markup: <asp:UpdatePanel ID="upAssociatedFaculty" runat="server" UpdateMode="Conditional"> <ContentTemplate> <p><b>Created By:</b> <asp:Label ID="lblCreatedBy" runat="server"></asp:Label></p> <p><b>Accomplishment Type: </b><asp:DropDownList ID="ddlAccomplishmentType" runat="server"></asp:DropDownList></p> <p><b>Accomplishment Applies To: </b><asp:DropDownList ID="ddlFacultyList" runat="server"></asp:DropDownList> &nbsp;<asp:Button ID="btnAddUser" runat="server" Text="Add Faculty" OnClientClick="incrementCounter();" /></p> <p> <asp:GridView ID="gvAssociatedUsers" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="false" GridLines="None" ShowHeader="false"> <Columns> <asp:BoundField DataField="Id" HeaderText="Id" Visible="False" /> <asp:TemplateField ShowHeader="False"> <ItemTemplate> <span style="margin-left: 15px;"> <p><%#Eval("LastName")%>, <%#Eval("FirstName")%> <asp:Button ID="btnUnassignUser" runat="server" CausesValidation="false" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("Id") %>' CommandName="Delete" OnCommand="deleteUser" Text='Remove' /></p> </span> </ItemTemplate> </asp:TemplateField> </Columns> <EmptyDataTemplate> <em>There are currently no faculty associated with this accomplishment.</em> </EmptyDataTemplate> </asp:GridView> </p> </ContentTemplate> </asp:UpdatePanel> Now here is the crazy part I am simply boggled by, if I uncomment the If Not Session... block of page_load, then deleteUser will never fire when btnUnassignUser is clicked. If I keep it commented out...it fires no problem, but then of course my list can never have more than one item since I am not loading the saved list from session into the gridview but just a fresh one. But the button click is being registered, because page_load is being stepped through again when I am viewing in debug mode, just deleteUser never fires. Why is this happening?? And how can I fix it??

  • Setting hidden input value in Javascript, then accessing it in c# codebehind

    - by Siegesmith
    Thank you for reading my question. I have been trying to set the value of a hidden input by using Javascript and then access the value from within my C# codebehind. When I run the code that is copied below, the value that is assigned to assignedIDs is "", which I assume is the default value for a hidden input. If I manually set the value in the html tag, then assignedIDs is set to that value. This behavior suggests to me that the value of the input is being reset (re-rendered?) between the onClientClick and onClick events firing. I would appreciate any help with the matter. I have spent hours trying to solve what seems like a very simple problem. html/javascript: <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" > <head runat="server"> <title>Admin Page - Manage Tasks</title> <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> function PopulateAssignedIDHiddenInput() { var source = document.getElementById('assignedLinguistListBox'); var s = ""; var count = source.length; for (var i = count - 1; i >= 0; i--) { var item = source.options[i]; if (s == "") { s = source.options[i].value; } else { s = s.concat(",",source.options[i].value); } } document.getElementById('assignedIDHiddenInput').Value = s; // I have confirmed that, at this point, the value of // the hidden input is set properly } </script> </head> <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <div> <asp:Panel id="EditMode" runat="server"> <table style="border: none;"> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="availableLinguistLabel" runat="server" Text="Available"></asp:Label><br /> <asp:ListBox ID="availableLinguistListBox" runat="server" Rows="10" SelectionMode="Multiple"></asp:ListBox> </td> <td> <input type="button" name="right" value="&gt;&gt;" onclick="Javascript:MoveItem('availableLinguistListBox', 'assignedLinguistListBox');" /><br /><br /> <input type="button" name="left" value="&lt;&lt;" onclick="Javascript:MoveItem('assignedLinguistListBox', 'availableLinguistListBox');" /> </td> <td> <asp:Label ID="assignedLinguistLabel" runat="server" Text="Assigned To"></asp:Label><br /> <asp:ListBox ID="assignedLinguistListBox" runat="server" Rows="10" SelectionMode="Multiple"></asp:ListBox> </td> </tr> </table> //-snip- <asp:Button ID="save_task_changes_button" runat="server" ToolTip="Click to save changes to task" Text="Save Changes" OnClick="save_task_changes_button_click" OnClientClick="Javascript:PopulateAssignedIDHiddenInput()" /> </asp:Panel> <!-- Hidden Inputs --> <!-- Note that I have also tried setting runat="server" with no change --> <input id="assignedIDHiddenInput" name="assignedIDHiddenInput" type="hidden" /> </div> </form> </body> c# protected void save_task_changes_button_click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string assignedIDs = Request.Form["assignedIDHiddenInput"]; // Here, assignedIDs == ""; also, Request.Params["assignedIDHiddenInput"] == "" // -snip- }

  • Facelet components layouts and javascript

    - by Java Drinker
    Hi all, I have a question regarding the placement of javascript within facelet components. This is more regarding best practice/style than a programming issue, but I feel like all the solutions I have thought of have been hacks at best. Ok here is my scenario: I have a facelet template like so (my faces, and apache Trinidad)... <ui:composition> <f:view locale="#{myLocale}"> <ui:insert name="messageBundles" /><!--Here we add load bundle tags--> <tr:document mode="strict" styleClass="coolStyleDoc"> <f:facet name="metaContainer"> <!--This trinidad defined facet is added to HTML head--> <tr:group> <!-- blah bal my own styles and js common to all --> <ui:insert name="metaData" /> </tr:group> </f:facet> <tr:form usesUpload="#{empty usesUpload ? 'false' : usesUpload}"> <div id="formTemplateHeader"> <ui:insert name="contentHeader" /> </div> <div id="formTemplateContentContainer"> <div id="formTemplateContent"> <ui:insert name="contentBody" /> </div> </div> <div id="formTemplateFooter"> <ui:insert name="contentFooter"> </ui:insert> </div> </tr:form> <!-- etc...---> Now, a facelet that wants to use this template would look like the following: <ui:composition template="/path/to/my/template.jspx"> <ui:define name="bundles"> <custom:loadBundle basename="messagesStuff" var="bundle" /> </ui:define> <ui:define name="metaData"> <script> <!-- cool javascript stuff goes here--> </script> </ui:define> <ui:define name="contentHeader"> <!-- MY HEADING!--> </ui:define> <ui:define name="contentBody"> <!-- MY Body!--> </ui:define> <ui:define name="contentFooter"> <!-- Copyright/footer stuff!--> </ui:define> </ui:composition> All this works quite well, but the problem I have is when I want to use a facelet component inside this page. If the facelet component has its own javascript code (jQuery stuff etc), how can I make it so that that javascript code is included in the header section of the generated html? Any help would be appreciated. Please let me know if this is not clear or something... thanks in advance

  • jQuery Scrollable Dynamic

    - by Coron3r
    Hi, I am doing a site where I need to change dynamically the amount of items in one slide depending on the resolution. I'm using the Jquery Tools scrollable For better understanding, here is the basic markup <div class="scrollable"> <!-- root element for the items --> <div class="items"> <!-- 1-5 --> <div> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/143/321464099_a7cfcb95cf_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3089/2796719087_c3ee89a730_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/79/244441862_08ec9b6b49_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/28/66523124_b468cf4978_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/164/399223606_b875ddf797_t.jpg" /> </div> <!-- 5-10 --> <div> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/163/399223609_db47d35b7c_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/135/321464104_c010dbf34c_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/40/117346184_9760f3aabc_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/153/399232237_6928a527c1_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/50/117346182_1fded507fa_t.jpg" /> </div> <!-- 10-15 --> <div> <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3629/3323896446_3b87a8bf75_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3023/3323897466_e61624f6de_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3650/3323058611_d35c894fab_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3635/3323893254_3183671257_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3624/3323893148_8318838fbd_t.jpg" /> </div> </div> </div> Ok and now I would like to set, that if I have a resolution bellow 1440, I would show only e.g. 3 images <div class="scrollable"> <!-- root element for the items --> <div class="items"> <!-- 1-3 --> <div> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/143/321464099_a7cfcb95cf_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3089/2796719087_c3ee89a730_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/79/244441862_08ec9b6b49_t.jpg" /> </div> <!-- 3-6 --> <div> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/163/399223609_db47d35b7c_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/135/321464104_c010dbf34c_t.jpg" /> <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/40/117346184_9760f3aabc_t.jpg" /> </div> ..etc </div> </div> I know that I should use the screen.width(); function but how to slice and parse it depending on the resolution? Thanks for your comments!

  • XForms and multiple inputs for same model tag

    - by iHeartGreek
    Hi! I apologize ahead of time if I am not asking this properly.. it is hard to put into words what I am asking.. I have XForms model such as: <file> <criteria> <criterion></criterion> </criteria> </file> I want to have multiple input text boxes that create a new criterion tag. user interface such as: <xf:input ref="/file/criteria/criterion" model="select_data"> <xf:label>Select</xf:label> </xf:input> <xf:input ref="/file/criteria/criterion" model="select_data"> <xf:label>Select</xf:label> </xf:input> <xf:input ref="/file/criteria/criterion" model="select_data"> <xf:label>Select</xf:label> </xf:input> And I would like the XML output to look like this (once user has entered in info): <file> <criteria> <criterion>AAA</criterion> <criterion>BBB</criterion> <criterion>CCC</criterion> </criteria> </file> The way I have it doesn't work, as it sees the 3 input fields to be referring all to the same criterion tag. How do I differentiate? Thanks! I hope that made some sense! BEGIN FIRST EDIT Thanks for the responses for the basic text box! However, I now need to do this with a listbox. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how. I read somewhere to use with the xforms:select and deselect events.. but I didn't know where to place them, and the places I tried gave me very weird behaviour. I am currently implementing the following: <xf:select ref="instance('criteria_data')/criteria/criterion" selection="" appearance="compact" > <xf:label>Choose criteria</xf:label> <xf:itemset nodeset="instance('criteria_choices')/choice"> <xf:label ref="@label"></xf:label> <xf:value ref="."></xf:value> </xf:itemset> </xf:select> However when multiple choices are submitted, all selection values are inserted into the same node, separated by spaces. For example: If AAA and BBB and FFF were selected from listbox, it would result in the following XML: <criterion>AAA BBB FFF</criterion> How do I change my code to have each selection be in a separate node? i.e. I want it to look like this: <criterion>AAA</criterion> <criterion>BBB</criterion> <criterion>FFF</criterion> Thanks! END FIRST EDIT BEGIN SECOND EDIT: For the listboxes (ie xf:select appearance="compact") I ended up allowing the spaces to occur in the same node and then just transformed that xml using xsl to generate a properly formatted new xml doc (with separate individual nodes). Unfortunately, I did not find a less cumbersome solution by inserting them originally into separate nodes. The selected answer works very well for text boxes however, hence why I selected it as the answer. END SECOND EDIT

  • Drop down list in menu disappears before able to click

    - by user1834770
    I've had quite a search through forums looking for a solution for this, but since I don't know coding I'm not sure what applies to me and what doesn't. So, apologies if this is an often solved problem, but I'll greatly appreciate your help! After much trial and error, I've managed to get a drop down list of pages on my navigation bar; however, when I go to click on a sub-page, the entire menu disappears. I've read through other similar problems where there has been an issue with a margin that's too big, but I think my margins are set to '0'. The blog is at: http://swirlstwirlsblog.blogspot.com.au/ I haven't got content in the sub pages but there are there and linked in the html/javascript widget. I've also looked at it in Chrome, Mozilla, and Safari and it's the same issue. I'm also not sure if this is a javascript, css, or html problem, so please be kind in your responses--I'm only new! • New line (in the code) after <li> element breaking layout

    - by BT643
    Weirdly, I've never come across this issue before, but I've just started making a site and the top navigation isn't playing nicely. I want a small amount of white space between each menu item, but when I have new lines between my <li> elements and my <a> elements in my IDE (Netbeans), the white space disappears, yet it looks fine if I have <li><a></a></li> all on the same line. I was always under the impression html ignored white space in the code. I've checked for any weird characters causing problems in other text editors and can't find anything. Here's the code... Like this the menu looks correct but code looks ugly (I know it looks fine when it's this simple, but I'm going be adding more complexity in which makes it look awful all on one line): <ul id="menu"> <li><a href="#">About</a></li> <li class="active"><a href="<?php echo site_url("tracklist"); ?>">Track List</a></li> <li><a href="<?php echo site_url("stats"); ?>">Stats</a></li> <li><a href="#">Stats</a></li> </ul> Like this the menu looks wrong but code looks fine: <ul id="menu"> <li> <a href="#">About</a> </li> <li class="active"> <a href="<?php echo site_url("tracklist"); ?>">Track List</a> </li> <li> <a href="<?php echo site_url("stats"); ?>">Stats</a> </li> <li> <a href="#">Stats</a> </li> </ul> Here's the css: #menu { float: right; } #menu li { display: inline-block; padding: 5px; background-color: #932996; border-bottom: solid 1px #932996; } #menu li:hover { border-bottom: solid 3px #FF0000; } #menu li.active { background-color: #58065e; } I'm sure it's something simple I'm doing wrong... but can someone shed some light on this for me? Sorry for the lengthy post (my first on stackoverflow).

  • jQuery embedding youtube IE issue

    - by webmonkey237
    I have been working on a custom image slider featured here: JQuery $(function(){ $('.cont:gt(0)').hide(); $("#parent").on("mouseenter", ".extraContent div", function(){ var ind = $(this).index(); $("#parent").find(".cont").stop().fadeTo(600,0,function(){ $('#parent').find('.cont').eq(ind).stop().fadeTo(300,1); }); }); $('#parent .extraContent').on('click',function(){ window.location=$(this).find("a").attr("href"); return false; }); }); CSS ?#parent { width:400px; margin:auto} .mainContent { width:430px; height:300px; border:1px solid #000;padding:5px; } .extraContent {overflow:auto; width:450px;} .extraContent div{float:left; width:90px; height:90px; border:1px solid #00F; margin:5px; padding:5px } .extraContent div:hover { border:1px solid #0F0;cursor:pointer } .cont{ position:absolute; } HTML <div id="parent"> <div class="mainContent"> <div class="cont"> Content 1....</div> <div class="cont"> Content 2....</div> <div class="cont">Content 3...<br /><iframe width="267" height="200" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/6tlQn7iePV4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe></div> <div class="cont"> Content 4....</div> </div> <div class="extraContent"> <div><p>1 Custom content here <br /> <a href="">Some link</a></p></div> <div><p>2 Custom content here <br /> <a href="">Some link</a></p></div> <div><p>3 Custom content here <br /> <a href="">Some link</a></p></div> <div><p>4 Custom content here <br /> <a href="">Some link</a></p></div> </div> </div>? My problem is if I embed YouTube video straight from the site using there iframe it transitions fine in Chrome but Firefox & IE just display the video straight away and each slide/div appears under the video, is this a known problem and doesn't anyone know a way I can get IE & FF to behave. p.s. because this is going to be in a content management system the only way the user can embed the video is using the default code from youtube.   • C++ FBX Animation Importer Using the FBX SDK

    - by Mike Sawayda
    Does anyone have any experience using the FBX SDK to load in animations. I got the meshes loaded in correctly with all of their verts, indices, UV's, and normals. I am just now trying to get the Animations working correctly. I have looked at the FBX SDK documentation with little help. If someone could just help me get started or point me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it. I added some code so you can kinda get an idea of what I am doing. I should be able to place that code anywhere in the load FBX function and have it work. //GETTING ANIMAION DATA for(int i = 0; i < scene->GetSrcObjectCount<FbxAnimStack>(); ++i) { FbxAnimStack* lAnimStack = scene->GetSrcObject<FbxAnimStack>(i); FbxString stackName = "Animation Stack Name: "; stackName += lAnimStack->GetName(); string sStackName = stackName; int numLayers = lAnimStack->GetMemberCount<FbxAnimLayer>(); for(int j = 0; j < numLayers; ++j) { FbxAnimLayer* lAnimLayer = lAnimStack->GetMember<FbxAnimLayer>(j); FbxString layerName = "Animation Stack Name: "; layerName += lAnimLayer->GetName(); string sLayerName = layerName; queue<FbxNode*> nodes; FbxNode* tempNode = scene->GetRootNode(); while(tempNode != NULL) { FbxAnimCurve* lAnimCurve = tempNode->LclTranslation.GetCurve(lAnimLayer, FBXSDK_CURVENODE_COMPONENT_X); if(lAnimCurve != NULL) { //I know something needs to be done here but I dont know what. } for(int i = 0; i < tempNode->GetChildCount(false); ++i) { nodes.push(tempNode->GetChild(i)); } if(nodes.size() > 0) { tempNode = nodes.front(); nodes.pop(); } else { tempNode = NULL; } } } } Here is the full function bool FBXLoader::LoadFBX(ParentMeshObject* _parentMesh, char* _filePath, bool _hasTexture) { FbxManager* fbxManager = FbxManager::Create(); if(!fbxManager) { printf( "ERROR %s : %d failed creating FBX Manager!\n", __FILE__, __LINE__ ); } FbxIOSettings* ioSettings = FbxIOSettings::Create(fbxManager, IOSROOT); fbxManager->SetIOSettings(ioSettings); FbxString filePath = FbxGetApplicationDirectory(); fbxManager->LoadPluginsDirectory(filePath.Buffer()); FbxScene* scene = FbxScene::Create(fbxManager, ""); int fileMinor, fileRevision; int sdkMajor, sdkMinor, sdkRevision; int fileFormat; FbxManager::GetFileFormatVersion(sdkMajor, sdkMinor, sdkRevision); FbxImporter* importer = FbxImporter::Create(fbxManager, ""); if(!fbxManager->GetIOPluginRegistry()->DetectReaderFileFormat(_filePath, fileFormat)) { //Unrecognizable file format. • A WPF Image Button

    - by psheriff
    Instead of a normal button with words, sometimes you want a button that is just graphical. Yes, you can put an Image control in the Content of a normal Button control, but you still have the button outline, and trying to change the style can be rather difficult. Instead I like creating a user control that simulates a button, but just accepts an image. Figure 1 shows an example of three of these custom user controls to represent minimize, maximize and close buttons for a borderless window. Notice the highlighted image button has a gray rectangle around it. You will learn how to highlight using the VisualStateManager in this blog post.Figure 1: Creating a custom user control for things like image buttons gives you complete control over the look and feel.I would suggest you read my previous blog post on creating a custom Button user control as that is a good primer for what I am going to expand upon in this blog post. You can find this blog post at http://weblogs.asp.net/psheriff/archive/2012/08/10/create-your-own-wpf-button-user-controls.aspx.The User ControlThe XAML for this image button user control contains just a few controls, plus a Visual State Manager. The basic outline of the user control is shown below:<Border Grid.Row="0"        Name="borMain"        Style="{StaticResource pdsaButtonImageBorderStyle}"        MouseEnter="borMain_MouseEnter"        MouseLeave="borMain_MouseLeave"        MouseLeftButtonDown="borMain_MouseLeftButtonDown">  <VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>  ... MORE XAML HERE ...  </VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>  <Image Style="{StaticResource pdsaButtonImageImageStyle}"         Visibility="{Binding Path=Visibility}"         Source="{Binding Path=ImageUri}"         ToolTip="{Binding Path=ToolTip}" /></Border>There is a Border control named borMain and a single Image control in this user control. That is all that is needed to display the buttons shown in Figure 1. The definition for this user control is in a DLL named PDSA.WPF. The Style definitions for both the Border and the Image controls are contained in a resource dictionary names PDSAButtonStyles.xaml. Using a resource dictionary allows you to create a few different resource dictionaries, each with a different theme for the buttons.The Visual State ManagerTo display the highlight around the button as your mouse moves over the control, you will need to add a Visual State Manager group. Two different states are needed; MouseEnter and MouseLeave. In the MouseEnter you create a ColorAnimation to modify the BorderBrush color of the Border control. You specify the color to animate as “DarkGray”. You set the duration to less than a second. The TargetName of this storyboard is the name of the Border control “borMain” and since we are specifying a single color, you need to set the TargetProperty to “BorderBrush.Color”. You do not need any storyboard for the MouseLeave state. Leaving this VisualState empty tells the Visual State Manager to put everything back the way it was before the MouseEnter event.<VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>  <VisualStateGroup Name="MouseStates">    <VisualState Name="MouseEnter">      <Storyboard>        <ColorAnimation             To="DarkGray"            Duration="0:0:00.1"            Storyboard.TargetName="borMain"            Storyboard.TargetProperty="BorderBrush.Color" />      </Storyboard>    </VisualState>    <VisualState Name="MouseLeave" />  </VisualStateGroup></VisualStateManager.VisualStateGroups>Writing the Mouse EventsTo trigger the Visual State Manager to run its storyboard in response to the specified event, you need to respond to the MouseEnter event on the Border control. In the code behind for this event call the GoToElementState() method of the VisualStateManager class exposed by the user control. To this method you will pass in the target element (“borMain”) and the state (“MouseEnter”). The VisualStateManager will then run the storyboard contained within the defined state in the XAML.private void borMain_MouseEnter(object sender,  MouseEventArgs e){  VisualStateManager.GoToElementState(borMain,    "MouseEnter", true);}You also need to respond to the MouseLeave event. In this event you call the VisualStateManager as well, but specify “MouseLeave” as the state to go to.private void borMain_MouseLeave(object sender, MouseEventArgs e){  VisualStateManager.GoToElementState(borMain,     "MouseLeave", true);}The Resource DictionaryBelow is the definition of the PDSAButtonStyles.xaml resource dictionary file contained in the PDSA.WPF DLL. This dictionary can be used as the default look and feel for any image button control you add to a window. <ResourceDictionary  ... >  <!-- ************************* -->  <!-- ** Image Button Styles ** -->  <!-- ************************* -->  <!-- Image/Text Button Border -->  <Style TargetType="Border"         x:Key="pdsaButtonImageBorderStyle">    <Setter Property="Margin"            Value="4" />    <Setter Property="Padding"            Value="2" />    <Setter Property="BorderBrush"            Value="Transparent" />    <Setter Property="BorderThickness"            Value="1" />    <Setter Property="VerticalAlignment"            Value="Top" />    <Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment"            Value="Left" />    <Setter Property="Background"            Value="Transparent" />  </Style>  <!-- Image Button -->  <Style TargetType="Image"         x:Key="pdsaButtonImageImageStyle">    <Setter Property="Width"            Value="40" />    <Setter Property="Margin"            Value="6" />    <Setter Property="VerticalAlignment"            Value="Top" />    <Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment"            Value="Left" />  </Style></ResourceDictionary>Using the Button ControlOnce you make a reference to the PDSA.WPF DLL from your WPF application you will see the “PDSAucButtonImage” control appear in your Toolbox. Drag and drop the button onto a Window or User Control in your application. I have not referenced the PDSAButtonStyles.xaml file within the control itself so you do need to add a reference to this resource dictionary somewhere in your application such as in the App.xaml.<Application.Resources>  <ResourceDictionary>    <ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries>      <ResourceDictionary         Source="/PDSA.WPF;component/PDSAButtonStyles.xaml" />    </ResourceDictionary.MergedDictionaries>  </ResourceDictionary></Application.Resources>This will give your buttons a default look and feel unless you override that dictionary on a specific Window or User Control or on an individual button. After you have given a global style to your application and you drag your image button onto a window, the following will appear in your XAML window.<my:PDSAucButtonImage ... />There will be some other attributes set on the above XAML, but you simply need to set the x:Name, the ToolTip and ImageUri properties. You will also want to respond to the Click event procedure in order to associate an action with clicking on this button. In the sample code you download for this blog post you will find the declaration of the Minimize button to be the following:<my:PDSAucButtonImage       x:Name="btnMinimize"       Click="btnMinimize_Click"       ToolTip="Minimize Application"       ImageUri="/PDSA.WPF;component/Images/Minus.png" />The ImageUri property is a dependency property in the PDSAucButtonImage user control. The x:Name and the ToolTip we get for free. You have to create the Click event procedure yourself. This is also created in the PDSAucButtonImage user control as follows:private void borMain_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender,  MouseButtonEventArgs e){  RaiseClick(e);}public delegate void ClickEventHandler(object sender,  RoutedEventArgs e);public event ClickEventHandler Click;protected void RaiseClick(RoutedEventArgs e){  if (null != Click)    Click(this, e);}Since a Border control does not have a Click event you will create one by using the MouseLeftButtonDown on the border to fire an event you create called “Click”.SummaryCreating your own image button control can be done in a variety of ways. In this blog post I showed you how to create a custom user control and simulate a button using a Border and Image control. With just a little bit of code to respond to the MouseLeftButtonDown event on the border you can raise your own Click event. Dependency properties, such as ImageUri, allow you to set attributes on your custom user control. Feel free to expand on this button by adding additional dependency properties, change the resource dictionary, and even the animation to make this button look and act like you want.NOTE: You can download the sample code for this article by visiting my website at http://www.pdsa.com/downloads. Select “Tips & Tricks”, then select “A WPF Image  Button” from the drop down list.

  • 'Content' is NOT 'Text' in XAML

    - by psheriff
    One of the key concepts in XAML is that the Content property of a XAML control like a Button or ComboBoxItem does not have to contain just textual data. In fact, Content can be almost any other XAML that you want. To illustrate here is a simple example of how to spruce up your Button controls in Silverlight. Here is some very simple XAML that consists of two Button controls within a StackPanel on a Silverlight User Control. <StackPanel>  <Button Name="btnHome"          HorizontalAlignment="Left"          Content="Home" />  <Button Name="btnLog"          HorizontalAlignment="Left"          Content="Logs" /></StackPanel> The XAML listed above will produce a Silverlight control within a Browser that looks like Figure 1.   Figure 1: Normal button controls are quite boring. With just a little bit of refactoring to move the button attributes into Styles, we can make the buttons look a little better. I am a big believer in Styles, so I typically create a Resources section within my user control where I can factor out the common attribute settings for a particular set of controls. Here is a Resources section that I added to my Silverlight user control. <UserControl.Resources>  <Style TargetType="Button"         x:Key="NormalButton">    <Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment"            Value="Left" />    <Setter Property="MinWidth"            Value="50" />    <Setter Property="Margin"            Value="10" />  </Style></UserControl.Resources> Now back in the XAML within the Grid control I update the Button controls to use the Style attribute and have each button use the Static Resource called NormalButton. <StackPanel>  <Button Name="btnHome"          Style="{StaticResource NormalButton}"          Content="Home" />  <Button Name="btnLog"          Style="{StaticResource NormalButton}"          Content="Logs" /></StackPanel> With the additional attributes set in the Resources section on the Button, the above XAML will now display the two buttons as shown in Figure 2. Figure 2: Use Resources to Make Buttons More Consistent Now let’s re-design these buttons even more. Instead of using words for each button, let’s replace the Content property to use a picture. As they say… a picture is worth a thousand words, so let’s take advantage of that. Modify each of the Button controls and eliminate the Content attribute and instead, insert an <Image> control with the <Button> and the </Button> tags. Add a ToolTip to still display the words you had before in the Content and you will now have better looking buttons, as shown in Figure 3.   Figure 3: Using pictures instead of words can be an effective method of communication The XAML to produce Figure 3 is shown in the following listing: <StackPanel>  <Button Name="btnHome"          ToolTipService.ToolTip="Home"          Style="{StaticResource NormalButton}">    <Image Style="{StaticResource NormalImage}"            Source="Images/Home.jpg" />  </Button>  <Button Name="btnLog"          ToolTipService.ToolTip="Logs"          Style="{StaticResource NormalButton}">    <Image Style="{StaticResource NormalImage}"            Source="Images/Log.jpg" />  </Button></StackPanel> You will also need to add the following XAML to the User Control’s Resources section. <Style TargetType="Image"        x:Key="NormalImage">  <Setter Property="Width"          Value="50" /></Style> Add Multiple Controls to Content Now, since the Content can be whatever we want, you could also modify the Content of each button to be a StackPanel control. Then you can have an image and text within the button. <StackPanel>  <Button Name="btnHome"          ToolTipService.ToolTip="Home"          Style="{StaticResource NormalButton}">    <StackPanel>      <Image Style="{StaticResource NormalImage}"              Source="Images/Home.jpg" />      <TextBlock Text="Home"                  Style="{StaticResource NormalTextBlock}" />    </StackPanel>  </Button>  <Button Name="btnLog"          ToolTipService.ToolTip="Logs"          Style="{StaticResource NormalButton}">    <StackPanel>      <Image Style="{StaticResource NormalImage}"              Source="Images/Log.jpg" />      <TextBlock Text="Logs"                  Style="{StaticResource NormalTextBlock}" />    </StackPanel>  </Button></StackPanel> You will need to add one more resource for the TextBlock control too. <Style TargetType="TextBlock"        x:Key="NormalTextBlock">  <Setter Property="HorizontalAlignment"          Value="Center" /></Style> All of the above will now produce the following:   Figure 4: Add multiple controls to the content to make your buttons even more interesting. Summary While this is a simple example, you can see how XAML Content has great flexibility. You could add a MediaElement control as the content of a Button and play a video within the Button. Not that you would necessarily do this, but it does work. What is nice about adding different content within the Button control is you still get the Click event and other attributes of a button, but it does necessarily look like a normal button.
