• How to access WCF RIA service from Windows Service?

  I have a functioning SL4 application; inside the ClientBin directory I have an .svc file that describes my service: <% @ServiceHost Service="MyApp.Services.MyServiceFactory="System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting.DomainServiceHostFactory" %> When I browse to http://localhost:52878/ClientBin/MyApp-Services-MyService.svc I see the following: "You have created a service. To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service. You can do this using the svcutil.exe tool from the command line with the following syntax: svcutil.exe http://localhost:52878/ClientBin/MyApp-Services-MyService.svc?wsdl" I want to access that service from a Windows Service application. My understanding is that I need to enable SOAP end-points in order to make this happen. So, I add the following to my web.config file: <domainServices> <endpoints> <add name="soap" type="System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting.SoapXmlEndpointFactory, System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35" /> </endpoints> </domainServices> Firstly, Intellisense complains about the presence of the tag, saying "The element system.ServiceModel has invalid child element domainServices." Secondly, the aforementioned Silverlight application stops working, presumably because this change breaks the underlying web services. Thirdly, it appears that the System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting assembly doesn't actually contain the SoapXmlEndpointFactory type; if I try to browse to the service after adding the above to web.config I see: "Could not load type 'System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting.SoapXmlEndpointFactory' from assembly 'System.ServiceModel.DomainServices.Hosting, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35'." If I inspect the assembly using Reflector, I see that it contains the DomainServiceEndpointFactory and PoxBinaryEndpointFactory types, but no SoapXmlEndpointFactory. Could someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? I can't believe that it should be this hard to simply consume a WCF RIA service in something other than a Silverlight application! • How do I use Fluent NHibernate with .NET 4.0?

  I want to learn to use Fluent NHibernate, and I'm working in VS2010 Beta2, compiling against .NET 4, but I'm experiencing some problems. Summary My main problem (at the moment) is that the namespace FluentNHibernate isn't available even though I've imported all the .dll assemblies mentioned in this guide. This is what I've done: 1. I downloaded the Fluent NHibernate source from here, extracted the .zip and opened the solution in VS. A dialog asked me if I wanted to convert the solution to a VS2010 solution, so I did. 2. I then went into each project's properties and configured all of them to compile for .NET 4, and built the entire solution. 3. I copied all the .dll files from /bin/Debug/ in the FluentNHibernate to a new folder on my local hard drive. 4. In my example project, I referenced FluentNHibernate.dll and NHibernate.dll from the new folder. This is my problem: If I right-click on FluentNHibernate in the References list and select "View in Object Browser...", it shows up correctly. Now, when I try to create a mapping class, I can't import FluentNHibernate. This code: using FluentNHibernate.Mapping; namespace FluentNHExample.Mappings { } generates an error on the using statement, saying The type or namespace 'FluentNHibernate' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?). The FluentNHibernate assembly is still in the list of References of my project, but if I try to browse the assembly in Object Browser again, it can't be found. What is causing this?

  Hi There Stackoverflow, I am running into some problems while trying to get DAAB from Enterprise library 5.0 running. I have followed the steps as per the tutorial, but am getting errors... 1) Download / install enterprise library 2) Add references to the blocks I need (common / data) 3) Imports Imports Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Common Imports Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data 4) Through the enterprise library config software. I open up the web.config from my site. I then click Blocks, then Add data settings... fill in my details and save / close 5) I then (thinking setup is complete) try to get an instance of the database via Dim db As Database = DatabaseFactory.CreateDatabase() 6) I compile and receive the following error: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Data, Version=5.0.414.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies. The located assembly's manifest definition does not match the assembly reference. • Windows Forms Host + System.Windows.Forms.DataVisualization.Chart

  Good day all I have the following question: I would like to use Chart from Windows Forms due to the fact that it allows to build much more types of graphical visualisation that one from WPF Toolkit does. So, I am adding Chart control for Windows Forms as a child element into the WindowsFormsHost. But, when I run the application I and all my clients see only white area. Though, any other Windows Forms Control works great in Windows Forms Host. What is wrong with the Chart control? • IIS: No Session being handed out, but only in production

  I've reproduced this in a simple project - details below. It's a WCF service in ASP.NET compatibility mode. What I'm seeing is that when run on the dev machine (Win7), a HTTP session id is available inside the service operation (HttpContext.Current.Session is non-null). But when deployed to the server (Win2k8R2), I get "No session". On both machines the app is configured to use the classic app pool, and the app pools themselves are configured identically as far as I can tell. The only differences I can discern between the two applications is that on the dev box, under "Handler Mappings", ISAPI-dll is disabled (not on the server), and on the server there's a spurious handler called "AboMapperCustom-7105160" (does not exist on the dev box). What should I be looking at next? Am I missing something head-slappingly simple? I created a project which uses NServiceBus, it got normal message handlers and Saga handlers. And also I created a couple tests around these with NServiceBus.Testing framework. It all works fine when I run the tests via ReSharper Test Runner works and NUnit console, they all works fine, but when I include them into NAnt build script, it throw the following exception: System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException : Unable to load one or more of the requested types. Retrieve the LoaderExceptions property for more information. at System.Reflection.Module.GetTypesInternal(StackCrawlMark& stackMark) at System.Reflection.Assembly.GetTypes() at NServiceBus.Configure.<c_DisplayClass1.b__0(Assembly a) at System.Array.ForEach[T](T[] array, Action`1 action) at NServiceBus.Configure.With(Assembly[] assemblies) at NServiceBus.Configure.With(String probeDirectory) at NServiceBus.Configure.With() at NServiceBus.Testing.Test.Initialize() Any ideas? • Threading 101: What is a Dispatcher?

  Once upon a time, I remembered this stuff by heart. Over time, my understanding has diluted and I mean to refresh it. As I recall, any so called single threaded application has two threads: a) the primary thread that has a pointer to the main or DllMain entry points; and b) For applications that have some UI, a UI thread, a.k.a the secondary thread, on which the WndProc runs, i.e. the thread that executes the WndProc that recieves messages that Windows posts to it. In short, the thread that executes the Windows message loop. For UI apps, the primary thread is in a blocking state waiting for messages from Windows. When it recieves them, it queues them up and dispatches them to the message loop (WndProc) and the UI thread gets kick started. As per my understanding, the primary thread, which is in a blocking state, is this: C++ while(getmessage(/* args &msg, etc. */)) { translatemessage(&msg, 0, 0); dispatchmessage(&msg, 0, 0); } C# or VB.NET WinForms apps: Application.Run( new System.Windows.Forms() ); Is this what they call the Dispatcher? My questions are: a) Is my above understanding correct? b) What in the name of hell is the Dispatcher? c) Point me to a resource where I can get a better understanding of threads from a Windows/Win32 perspective and then tie it up with high level languages like C#. Petzold is sparing in his discussion on the subject in his epic work. Although I believe I have it somewhat right, a confirmation will be relieving.

  I am getting the above error in IIS 6.0 now when I browse my C# / SQL web application. This was built in VS 2008 and SS 2008 on a 32-bit XP OS. The application was working before I added Login controls to it. However, this is my first time configuring Login/password controls so I am probably missing something really basic.   I'm building a modular Silverlight application, using Prism. In the Shell project, I'm loading 2x modules, each hailing from a separate assembly. For convenience let's call them ModuleA and ModuleB ModuleA makes calls to WebServiceA. A ServiceReference.ClientConfig file is present in ModuleA's assembly. In order for this to work, in the shell project, I've added an "existing item" (path set to the forementioned config file in ModuleA's folder) as a link. The shell launched and the ModuleA made a successful call to the WebServiceA. Currently, I'm working on ModuleB, it also needs to make webservice calls, this time to WebServiceB. The service reference has been added, and a ServiceReference.ClientConfig file has appeared in ModuleB's assembly. I've attempted to add that config file as a link to the shell project as well, but I've failed. Q1 : Is it possible to use multiple ServiceReference.ClientConfig files like this? Q2 : Are there any best-practices for this case? Q3 : Is it possible to rename a *.config or *.ClientConfig file ? How is it done? How do I tell the application what file to use? Edit : Formatting

I have followed this tutorial http://www.craftyfella.com/2010/02/creating-aspnet-mvc-2-controller.html to create a Controller Factory with Ninject and to bind a first abstract to a concrete implementation. Now I want to load a repository type from another assembly (where my concrete SQL Repositories are located) and I just cant get it to work. The kernel.Load(System.Reflection.Assembly.Load("MyAssembly")); also does its job and registers the module but as soon as I call on the controller which needs the repository I get an ActivationException from Ninject: No matching bindings are available, and the type is not self-bindable.   I have a small program that is trying to wrap an NHibernate insert into an Informix database in a TransactionScope object using the Informix .NET Provider. I am getting the error specified below. The code without the TransactionScope object works -- including when the insert is wrapped in an NHibernate session transaction. Any ideas on what the problem is? • MonoDevelop: Addin generation issues

  I am having problems creating the root.mrep file for a updated MonoDevelop Addin. The Addin was originally built for MonoDevelop 2.2. I am able to build the updated project but when I use mdrun.exe setup rep-build to generate the .mrep files(main and root) it only generates the main.mrep file and not the root.mrep file. Is there a new way of building the addin that I am missing? I used both setup pack and then setup rep-build. • Google App Engine on Google Apps Domain

  I'm having trouble getting my domain pointed to my website hosted with google app engine. Here's the background... take care to separate the concepts of "google apps" (domain hosting, email, etc.) and "google app engine" (website framework). I have a domain that's using Google Apps for Your Domain, let's call it company.com. So my login for my google apps account is [email protected]. I have a different domain that is aliased back to my google apps account, let's call it mycompany.com. It's been successfully aliased and registered with my primary google apps account using the cname method, and has updated mx records. We have a ton of domains, and I only want to use one "google apps" account to maintain them all. Now I have a website I've built using google app engine, and the url is effectively mycompany.appspot.com. I want to get mycompany.com to point to my website that currently resides at mycompany.appspot.com. There's a spot in the google app engine dashboard under application settings where you can add a domain. So I click there and enter mycompany.com and I get an error message saying that domain is not using google apps. If I back up to the page I submitted, there's a note saying I need to register the domain with google apps. So I click the link to do that and enter mycompany.com and I get an error message saying the domain has been registered and is in the process of ownership verification. But that process is already finished. So... what do I do? Does google app engine not support a domain that is only aliased to a primary google apps account? Does mycompany.com need to have its own primary google apps account?

I finc the process comparatively arduous: For example, in PostgreSQL, I simply type: pg> CREATE TABLE tbl ( > id SERIAL NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY, > ... In MySQL, I simply type: my> CREATE TABLE tbl ( > id INT NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY AUTO_INCREMENT, > ...
