  • DVD (vob file) to online video viewer?

    I've been sent a DVD which needs to be put onto a website, but I honestly don't even know where to start. Do I simply convert the file using some software to MP4(?!) and then use something like http://videojs.com/ to view it online? I'm really sorry for the vague question, but I want to produce the best quality results, with good compression, good quality and a nice video player interface. Would really appreciate any recommendations. Thank you!

    I've several problems maintaining large production servers, in which some developers drop files from Windows environments, sometime with BOM-bytes (We use UTF8, and no need for that), causing lots of troubles. Other times, I got a "no end of line" and "[DOS]" labels when vim-editing files directly on the server. I recently discovered how to find for the bom byte, and how to delete it in a batch script. What about illegal bytes, bad EOLs? Is it safe to use DOS Text Files on a linux environment? Any drawbacks If I use to convert them with dos2unix cmd ? Regards

  • How can I get all my itunes files from multiple computers onto my new PC?

    Managing my itunes files (music,video,tv shows, iphone apps) is a really hard task and I have not had much luck yet. If I had a single PC for the rest of my life with the same hard drive, it would work great but infortunately it cannot be that simple. I just build a new PC as my old hard drive crashed with all my itunes purchased songs, video, etc. So is there anyway to get itunes to recognize that I own all them and let me re-download everything? As I see it so far, it knows what I own by my itunes account login (it knows if I purchased a file or not ever) but does not seem to let you just re-download everything to a new PC or new hard drive. I realize I should of had backups but I didn't. My backup plan is a work in process and it is getting much better but that doesnt help with my situation at the moment. So I am asking for any help, ideas of how to retrieve all my previous itunes purchases?

  • Synced audio ouput on multiple machines? VLC? hardware solutions?

    I'm wondering if there is any software or hardware solutions to synced audio or audio and video across multiple computers or devices on a network. I've seen Sonos, and it might be a good solution, but it's also a very expensive solution. I'd like to be able to play something with realtime audio output on one PC, but hear it on speakers throughout the house, being it the home theater receiver, or another computer in another room. I saw a solution using the apple iport express, but the latency was unacceptable for anything other than just music. I'd like to avoid running audio wires with baluns to a bunch of amplifiers scattered all over the place when I have cat5 run everywhere. Is anyone familiar with using this kind of process for whole home audio? The latency is a big deal for me, if I've got video attached to the sound (e.g. watching a hockey game)

Is this the reason? Is this representation documented anywhere? I notice that Tab is represented by ^I, which is the ninth letter of the Latin alphabet. Conversely, Tab is \x09 or decimal 9, which supports my theory stated above. However, where might this be documented as fact?

    Does anyone know of any software/hardware configuration that will allow you to preview/view the contents multiple monitors on one monitor? Let's pretend: I have two monitors hooked up to one pc, Monitor A and Monitor B. The monitors are not near each other. I'd like to be able to preview/see what's displaying on Monitor B on Monitor A I haven't been able to find much about this, but I imagine it may not currently be possible to access/emulate video output going out of a video port in software. However, wouldn't it be possible to capture display data generated by the OS kernel or data getting passed down to the display adapter driver?

    I am using a UIImagePickerController to get a video from the library. So, I am using this picker = [[UIImagePickerController alloc] init]; picker.delegate = self; picker.sourceType = UIImagePickerControllerSourceTypePhotoLibrary; picker.mediaTypes = [UIImagePickerController availableMediaTypesForSourceType:picker.sourceType]; picker.allowsEditing = NO; picker.mediaTypes = [NSArray arrayWithObject:(NSString *)kUTTypeMovie]; [self presentModalViewController:picker animated:YES]; [picker release]; As soon as I select the video and tap on CHOOSE, I see the message "Compressing Video" and it stays ages stuck... I waited for 5 minutes and the message was still there. Is there a way to prevent this? Why I cannot simply take a copy of the move as it is. I do not want any compressing... is there a way to solve this? thanks.

  • Problems with video playback in iPad.

    I'm trying to implement a MPMoviePlayerView but I can't play the video files, I don't have a device yet to try it on, now I'm testing with simulator, I don't know if this is the cause. So far I've been able to present the view and it shows the first frame of the video, but if I click play, it doesn't play I can move the progress bar and it shows the images, but there's no movement, it stays still. Has anyone experienced something like this? The code of my UIViewController goes like this: NSURL *movieURL=[NSURL fileURLWithPath:@"video.mp4"]; MPMoviePlayerViewController *playerView=[[MPMoviePlayerViewController alloc] initWithContentURL:movieURL]; [self presentMoviePlayerViewControllerAnimated:playerView]; As I said, it shows up, I can move the progress bar back and forth, I see a still image, but no movement. Am I missing something here? or is it the simulator? Thank you

After going back to first Activity I can hear sound but see no picture. I am trying to spruce up the site a bit, and I would like to embed a YouTube video based on the band's name. Say, for instance, I have "Led Zeppelin" stored in my database. How can I take a PHP variable containing "Led Zeppelin", search YouTube using that variable, find a random video, and then embed that in the website? From the research I've done, it seems you can only embed YouTube videos if you know the exact address of the video. Thanks!

    Hi, I am using flvplayer.swf player, it is playing the videos,but before playing the video the player has black screen and a play button. When I click the play button the video plays. Is it possible to show a screen-shot of the video with the play button on top, instead of the blank screen?     Hi all! Do you have any idea how to covert different Unicode characters to their closest ASCII equivalents? Like Ä - A. A googled but didn't find any suitable solution. Trick Encoding.ASCII.GetBytes("Ä")[0] didn't work. (Result was ?). I found that there is class Encoder that has Fallback property that is exactly for cases when char can't be converted, but implementations (EncoderReplacementFallback) are stupid and convert to ?.
