• Writing to a file in a servlet

• Console Application Structure

  I've written several .Net Console Applications over the past 6 months and we have many more throughout different projects in our organization. I generally stick to the same standard format/structure for my Console Applications. Unfortunately, many of our console applications do not. I have been looking into ways of standardizing the structure of these Console Applications. I would also like to provide a framework for the basic structure of a Console Application and provide easy access to standard ways of handling things such as argument passing, logging, etc. Can anyone suggest Best Practices for addressing these concerns? I have been reading this MSDN article on Console Applications in .Net which suggests a Design Pattern for Console Apps. The example uses a Template Method pattern to handle some of the concerns I listed earlier. Two negatives of using this approach are listed in the article. Ending up with twice as many classes Having many simple, similar classes Can anyone suggest better, or more standard, ways of handling this? What about listing additional negatives with this approach?

  Hello, An example would set the context right, the example below captures the various states of the entity, which needs to be reverted(rolled back) . State 1 - Recorded on 01-Mar-2010 Column1 Column2 Data1 0.56 State 2 - Recorded on 02-Mar-2010 Column1 Column2 Data1 0.57 State 3 - Recorded on 03-Mar-2010 Column1 Column2 Data1 0.58 User notices that state3 is not what he intended to be in, decides to revert back to state2. One approach that I can think of, without modifying the entity is via "auditing" all the inserts/updates, as below, the rollback information captures the data just before the updates/modifications on the entity, so that it can be applied in an order when you need to revert.Please note that changing the entity's schema, is not an option. Rollback - R1 recorded on 01-Mar-2010 Column1 Column2 Data1 0.56 Rollback - R2 Recorded on 02-Mar-2010 Column1 Column2 Data1 0.56 Rollback - R3 Recorded on 03-Mar-2010 Column1 Column2 Data1 0.57 So, to get to state2 , we would start with rollback information R1,apply R2 onto it. • Wicket: Where to add components? Constructor? Or onBeforeRender?

  I'm a Wicket newb. This may just be my ignorance of the Wicket lifecycle so please enlighten me! My understanding is that Wicket WebPage objects are instantiated once and then serialized. This has led to a point of confusion for me, see below. Currently I have a template class which I intend to subclass. I followed the example in the Wicket docs demonstrating how to override the template's behavior in the subclass: protected void onBeforeRender() { add(new Label("title", getTitle())); super.onBeforeRender(); } protected String getTitle() { return "template"; } Subclass: protected String getTitle() { return "Home"; } This works very well. What's not clear to me are the "best practices" for this. It seems like onBeforeRender() is called on every request for the page, no? This seems like there would be substantially more processing done on a page if everything is in onBeforeRender(). I could easily follow the example of the other Wicket examples and add some components in the constructor that I do not want to override, but then I've divided by component logic into two places, something I'm hesitant to do. If I add a component that I intend to be in all subclasses, should I add it to the constructor or onBeforeRender()?

  Hi I have defined some records in my project which may be consisted of other records and also dynamic arrays of normal data types and other records , it is n example of a record type Type1=record x:integer; end; Type2=record Y:array of X; str:string; end; When I tried to save one of variables of these records type to file with blockwrite function like this : var Temp1:Type2; begin setlength(temp1.y,100); blockwrite(MyFile,Temp1,sizeOf(Temp1); it just wrote as much as the size of pure record is ,but temp1 has a dynmic arrays which is resized , Could someone please tell me how I can write a complex record to a file , I mean something like what is used in VB6 .   I have an application in C# which I write some data to file. I am facing the problem on windows 7 professional that when I write data to C:\ProgramData, Access denied acception is thrown. If I login from an administrator account this issue vanishes, and if I login from some other account who have administrative previlages this issue comes up.   Hi - I'm looking for an idea of best practices here. I have a web based application that has a number of hooks into other systems. Let's say 5, and each of these 5 systems has a number of flags to determine different settings the user has selected in said systems, lets say 5 settings per system (so 5*5). I am storing the status of these settings in the user sesion variables and was wondering is that a sufficient way of doing it? I'm learning php as I go along so not sure about any pitfalls that this could run me into!

• How to separate model and view with Core Data?

  I have a subclass of UIView which draws itself based on data held in a corresponding model class, which is a subclass of NSManagedObject. The problem is, some fields in the data model (e.g. the position of the view) are already held in the view (i.e. the frame property in this case). I then have a data duplication/synchronization problem to solve. To complicate matters further, the view needs to update in response to changes made to the data model and the data model needs to be updated in responses made to the view (e.g. the user dragging it to a new location). What's the best way to solve this? Using KVO and references in both directions? Or is there a better approach?
