• Customized sorting on DataTable in C#?

  This is a C# Winform question. I have a DataGridView which is bounded to a DataTable. I construct the DataTable myself, which several DataColumn instances. When the DataTable is bound to the DataGridView, by default, every column is sortable by clicking the headers of the DataGridView. But the sorting behavior is something "by default". It seems that it is sorted by string. This is true even if I put this as my code: DataColumn dc = new DataColumn("MyObjectColumn", typeof(MyObject)); And MyObject has overriden ToString() and has implemented the IComparable interface. That means even if I have told the DataTable how to sort the special column with the implementation of IComparable interface, DataGridView still doesn't do it the way I expect. So how can I let DataTable sort data in the way I want? Thanks for the answers.

• Limited IList<> implementation ?

  Hello people, I'm doing some work with stats, and want to refactor the following method : public static blah(float[] array) { //Do something over array, sum it for example. } However, instead of using float[] I'd like to be using some kind of indexed enumerable (to use dynamic loading from disk for very large arrays for example). I had created a simple interface, and wanted to use it. public interface IArray<T> : IEnumerable<T> { T this[int j] { get; set; } int Length { get; } } My problem is : float[] only inherits IList, not IArray, and AFAIK there's no way to change that. I'd like to ditch IArray and only use IList, but my classes would need to implement many methods like Add, RemoveAt although they are fixed size And then my question : how can float[] implement IList whereas it doesn't have these methods ? • PHP (A few questions) OO, refactoring, eclipse

  I am using PHP in eclipse. It works ok, I can connect to my remote site, there is colour coding of code elements and some code hints. I realise this may be too long to answer all questions, if you have a good answer for one part, answering just that is ok. Firstly General Coding I have found that it is easy to loose track of included files and their variables. For example if there was a database $cursor it is difficult to remember or even know that it was declared in the included file (this becomes much worse the more files you include). How are people dealing with this? How are people documenting their code - in particular the required GET and POST data? Secondly OO Development: Should I be going full OO in my development. Currently I have a functions library which I can include and have separated each "task" into a separate file. It is a bit nasty but it works. If I go OO how do I structure the directories in PHP, java uses packages - what about php? How should I name my files, should I use all lower case with _ for spaces "hello_world.php"? Should I name classes with Uppercase like Java "HelloWorld.php"? Is there a different naming convention for Classes and regular function files? Thirdly Refactoring I must say this is a real pain. If I change the name of a variable in one place I have to go through whole document and each file that included this file and change the name their too. Of course, errors everywhere is what results. How are people dealing with this problem? In Java if you change the name in one place it changes everywhere. Are there any plugins to improve php refactoring? I am using the official PHP version of Eclipse from their website. thanks

  Hello, guys. How to get/set the hours and minutes via code from a UIDatePicker in UIDatePickerModeCountDownTimer mode? The situation: I have an interface in that a user selects just hours and minutes. Then, he saves the information (so, I have to get the hours and minutes from UIDatePicker via code to save in a DB). When the user is editing the information saved previously, I want to start the interface with the saved hours/minutes (so, I have to set the UIDatePicker hours and minutes retrieved from DB via code). How do I do that with the UIDatePiker in UIDatePickerModeCountDownTimer mode? Thanks in advance.

• Strange problem with SEAM stateful session bean

  Hi, I've got a staeful session bean. @Scope(ScopeType.SESSION) @Name("chuckNorrisBean") public class ChuckNorrisBean implements Serializable, ChuckNorris with some function public void roundHouseKick() { ... } interface @Local public interface ChuckNorris { public void roundHouseKick() { ... } } and calling them on a jsf .xhtml page using #{chuckNorrisBean.roundHouseKick} which works perfectly fine. However if I add the @Stateful annotation to the bean so it becomes @Stateful @Scope(ScopeType.SESSION) @Name("chuckNorrisBean") public class ChuckNorrisBean implements Serializable, ChuckNorris and the page will load with exceptions complainig about Exception during request processing:Caused by javax.servlet.ServletException with message: "#{chuckNorrisBean.roundHouseKick}: javax.el.MethodNotFoundException: //localhost/universe/earth.xhtml @41,65 action= "#{chuckNorrisBean.roundHouseKick}": Method not found: ChuckNorrisBean:a6gkg-w6das4-g8wmgh0y-1-g8woy0wo-4b.roundHouseKick()" Any advice on what might've went wrong with my chuckNorrisBean?   hi, I have methods which return interface and some methods which accepts interface as parameters. I am trying to use Net DataContractSerializer but I am getting following error... The formatter threw an exception while trying to deserialize the message: There was an error while trying to deserialize parameter http://tempuri.org/:id. The InnerException message was 'Error in line 1 position 120. XML 'Element' 'http://tempuri.org/:id' does not contain expected attribute 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/2003/10/Serialization/:Type'. The deserializer has no knowledge of which type to deserialize. Check that the type being serialized has the same contract as the type being deserialized.'. Please see InnerException for more details. Please help me how to resolve this error.... If I use Netdatacontract attribute on Operation Contract, can i use DataContract and Datamember attribute on serializable class??? Thanks in advance...

  I'm a bit unsure about the Usage Information and Limits of Yahoo YQL. Per application limit (identified by your Access Key): 100,000 calls per day. Per IP limits: /v1/public/: 1,000 calls per hour; /v1/yql/: 10,000 calls per hour. Do I require an application/access key for the /v1/public/ interface, non of the examples uses one. If I don't need an application key and only access the /v1/public/ interface I only have do worry about the IP limits of 1,000 calls per hour, right?

• Error while using JSFUnit/HtmlUnit/CSSParser

  We've just recently converted our project to using Maven for builds and dependency management, and after the conversion I'm getting the following exception while trying to run any JSFUnit tests in my project. Exception class=[java.lang.UnsupportedOperationException] com.gargoylesoftware.htmlunit.ScriptException: CSSRule com.steadystate.css.dom.CSSCharsetRuleImpl is not yet supported. at com.gargoylesoftware.htmlunit.javascript.JavaScriptEngine$HtmlUnitContextAction.run(JavaScriptEngine.java:527) at net.sourceforge.htmlunit.corejs.javascript.Context.call(Context.java:537) ... All the dependencies and JARs for JSFUnit were pulled with Maven using the JBoss repository (http://repository.jboss.com/maven2/). We're using the following dependencies in the project: jboss-jsfunit-core 1.2.0.Final jboss-jsfunit-richfaces 1.2.0.Final richfaces-ui 3.3.2.GA openfaces 2.0 JSF 1.2_12 Facelets 1.1.14 Before the dependencies were being managed by Maven, we were able to run our JSFUnit tests just fine. I was able to semi-fix the issue by using a ss_css2.jar file that someone had tucked into our WEB-INF/lib directory (from before the Maven conversion). I'm hoping to find out if there's something else I can do to fix the dependencies in Maven rather than resorting to managing some of the dependencies myself.

• Why is there no music streaming API service?

  Apple has decided to kill lala.com. I loved that site. Now, everyone has to go back to paying $0.89+ for songs from Amazon, iTunes, etc. Lame. Rhapsody would be great, except there are no clients for Mac or Linux. They do have a web interface, buy it is nothing compared to lala's web 2.0y interface. What I just don't understand is, why is there no music API streaming service out there? Basically, developers could hook the service into any desktop or web app, and then users of the app could pay $x a month (like with Rhapsody) and play any amount of music, so long as their subscription is active. Why not? Lala streamed music to web browsers, so surely it could be as secure as lala is (was), preventing music theft.

• How do I use IImgCtx to get load an image with an alpha channel?

  I have some working code that uses IImgCtx to load images, but I can't work out how to get at the alpha channel. For images like .gif's and .png's there are transparent pixels, but using anything other than a 24-bit bitmap as a drawing surface doesn't work. Now this interface apparently is used by Internet Explorer to load images, and obviously THAT supports transparency, so I believe that it's possible to get some level of alpha out of the interface. The question is how? (I also have fall back code that will call libpng/libjpeg/my .gif loader etc)

  Hello, I have declared two service contracts as follows: [ServiceContract] public interface IContract1 { [OperationContract] double Add(int ip); } [ServiceContract] public interface IContract2 { [OperationContract] double Add(double ip); } I have a class which implements these two contracts. I have created two end points for both the contracts. But I'm not able to access the service from client code. It displays a big error when i try to update the service reference as: Metadata contains an error that cannot be resolved.... There was no endpoint listening at ... etc. I know that you can't have two OperationContracts with the same name but is it possible to have two operation contracts in different service contracts with same name but different signature? • Optimising local image loading/rendering on iPhone

  Hi, I'm looking to create an interface where the user can navigate through large volumes of images. Each image has a thumbnail of 128x128 that I wish to display and will be kind of similar to coverflow in operation. I have this all working in principle but am becoming stuck when navigating through content at speed. The interface begins to stutter and becoming jerky. I believe this is primarily because of disk i/o and the cost of rendering each image. Is there anyway this can be handed over to a seperate thread simply? Defaulting to a greyed out thumbnail until the image has loaded? How have Apple managed to achieve this in coverflow? Many thanks,

• Generate colors between red and green for a power meter?

  I'm writing a java game and I want to implement a power meter for how hard you are going to shoot something. I need to write a function that takes a int between 0 - 100, and based on how high that number is, it will return a color between Green (0 on the power scale) and Red (100 on the power scale). Similar to how volume controls work: What operation do I need to do on the Red, Green, and Blue components of a color to generate the colors between Green and Red? So, I could run say, getColor(80) and it will return an orangish color (its values in R, G, B) or getColor(10) which will return a more Green/Yellow rgb value. I know I need to increase components of the R, G, B values for a new color, but I don't know specifically what goes up or down as the colors shift from Green-Red. Progress: I ended up using HSV/HSB color space because I liked the gradiant better (no dark browns in the middle). The function I used was (in java): public Color getColor(double power) { double H = power * 0.4; // Hue (note 0.4 = Green, see huge chart below) double S = 0.9; // Saturation double B = 0.9; // Brightness return Color.getHSBColor((float)H, (float)S, (float)B); } Where "power" is a number between 0.0 and 1.0. 0.0 will return a bright red, 1.0 will return a bright green. • Queue ExternalInterface calls to Flash Object in UpdatePanel - Needs Improvement?

  A Flash (actually Flex) object is created on an ASP.Net page within an Update Panel using a modified version of the embedCallAC_FL_RunContent.js script so it can be written in dynamically. It is re-created with this script with each partial postback to that panel. There are also other Update Panels on the page. With some postbacks (partial and full), External Interface calls such as $get('FlashObj').ExternalInterfaceFunc('arg1', 0, true); are prepared server-side and added to the page using ScriptManager.RegisterStartupScript. They're embedded in a function and stuffed into Sys.Application's load event, for example Sys.Application.add_load(funcContainingExternalInterfaceCalls). The problem is that because the Flash object's state state may change with each partial postback, the Flash (Flex) object and/or External Interface may not be ready or even exist yet in the DOM when the JavaScript - Flash External Interface call is made. It results in an "Object doesn't support this property or method" exception. I am still on the learning curve with respect to concepts like closures why "eval()" is apparently evil, so I'm wondering if I'm violating some best practice or if this code should be improved, if so how? • .Net Compact Framework 2.0 touch and nice controls

  Hello! I would like to know if somebody knows free custom nice controls for .NET Compact Framework 2.0. There are nice controls as Manila Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=566188), Sense Interface SDK (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=648906) and so on for free, but they work only on .NET CF 3.5. Furthermore, there are others that you have to pay for them and for .NET CF 2.0 and 3.5 (Resco or Touch Control Suite). And there is one called Fluid (http://fluid.codeplex.com/) but it's so complicated, there are not exactly controls (are classes added to a host control) and there is not much documentation to work with it. Any nice controls for free and working in .NET CF 2.0? And with list sliders if it's possible? Thanks!

  I have two interfaces, IAuditable and ITransaction. public interface IAuditable{ DateTime CreatedOn { get; } string CreatedBy { get; } } public interface ITransaction : IAuditable { double Amount{ get; } } And a class that implements ITransaction, call Transaction. public class Transaction : ITransaction{ public DateTime CreatedOn { get { return DateTime.Now; } } public string CreatedBy { get { return "aspnet"; } } public doubl Amount { get { return 0; } } } When I bind a list of ITransactions to a datagrid and use auto create columns, only the Amount gets bound. The CreatedBy and CreatedOn are not seen. Is there a way I can get these values visible during databinding?

• What framework would allow for the largest coverage of freelance developers in the media/digital mar

  This question is not about which is the best, it is about which makes the most business sense to use as a company's platform of choice for ongoing freelance development. I'm currently trying to decide what framework to move my company in regarding frameworks for web application work. Options are ASP.NET MVC Django CakePHP/Symfony etc.. Struts Pearl on Rails Please feel free to add more to the discussion. I currently work in ASP.NET MVC in my Spare time, and find it incredibly enjoyable to work with. It is my first experince with an MVC framework for the web, so I can't talk on the others. The reason for not pushing this at the company is that I feel that there are not many developers in the Media/Marketing world who would work with this, so it may be hard to extend the team, or at least cost more. I would like to move into learning and pushing Django, partly to learn python, partly to feel a bit cooler (all my geeky friends use Java/Python/c++). Microsoft is the dark side to most company's I work with (Marketing/Media focused). But again I'm worried about developers in this sector. PHP seems like the natural choice, but I'm scared by the sheer amount of possible frameworks, and also that the quality of developer may be lower. I know there are great php developers out there, but how many of them know multiple frameworks? Are they similar enough that anyone decent at php can pick them up? Just put struts in the list as an option, but personally I live with a Java developer, and considering my experience with c#, I'm just not that interested in learning Java (selfish personal geeky reasons) Final option was a joke http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/radiolabs/2007/11/perl_on_rails.shtml

You need to add a Facelets runtime to the project's classpath". Also Page code is not created for it.

• NTLM Authentication fails when behind Proxy server

  Hi All, I've seen a number of post about consuming Web Services from behind a proxy server, but none that seams to address this problem. I'm building a desktop application, using Java, JAX-WS in NetBeans. I have a working prototype, that can query the server for authentication mode, successfully authenticate and retrieve a list of web site. However, if I run the same app from a network that is behind a proxy server (the proxy does not require authentication), then I'm running into trouble. I have sniffed the traffic, and noticed the following: Behind Proxy # Result Protocol Host URL 1 200 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Authentication.asmx 2 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 3 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 4 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 5 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx Without Proxy # Result Protocol Host URL 1 200 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Authentication.asmx 2 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 3 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 4 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 5 401 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx 6 200 HTTP host.domain.com /_vti_bin/Webs.asmx When running the code from a network without a proxy server, I successfully Authentication with the server, but when I'm behind the proxy server, the traffic is cut-off at the 5th message, and thus don't succeed. I know from the Java docs that On Microsoft Windows platforms, NTLM authentication attempts to acquire the user credentials from the system without prompting the user's authenticator object. If these credentials are not accepted by the server then the user's authenticator will be called. Given that my Authentication code is called only ones, and only as the 5th attempt, it appears as if the connection is dropped when behind the proxy server before my Authentication object is used. Is there any way I can control the behavior of Authentication module, to not have it use the system credentials? • reading excel using scriptom for groovy, producing xml

  Dear friends, I got a program from http://kousenit.wordpress.com/2007/03/27/groovyness-with-excel-and-xml but I got some very strange results: 1) I can still print xml but two records are not readable. 2) I got exception suggesting some thing missing could some experts enlighten me about what might go wrong?
