What is a similar algorithm for the distance between two strings with similar subsequences? For example, in quickbrownfox brownquickfox the Levenshtein distance is 10, but this takes no account of the fact that the strings have two similar subsequences, which makes them more "similar" than completely disordered words like quickbrownfox qburiocwknfox and yet this completely disordered version has a Levenshtein distance of eight. What distance measures exist which take the length of subsequences into account, without assuming that the subsequences can be easily broken into distinct words?

  • Using Twitter OAuth for automatic status update

    I want my website to automatically post status updates to a particular twitter account using OAuth in PHP. I test this using a URL www.mysite.com/update_status but it asks me for "user name" and "password", which is fine when I am testing it. But my website will not be able to insert this user name and password before posting the status update. So the question is how can a website which is in the server, automatically post a status update to an account without user filling out the user name and password. Is there any way to bypass this? I tried saving oAuth tokens, but it's not working. Thank you for your answer in advance!

    I have enabled query caching to use the NHibernate.Caches.Prevalence.PrevalenceCacheProvider provider. This is running on IIS 7, WCF service. I have limited rights to what I can do, but I'm getting an exception about releasing cache locks. I've created the following 2 directories in the system32/inetsrv directory and given full control to the account IIS is using. NHibernate.Cache.StandardQueryCache Some other cache dir I can think of right now This doesn't happen in my local environment so I'm thinking this is somehow related to caching. Do I need to give the IIS account full control to the inetsrv dir as well?

  • Which third party website thumbnailing services do you use?

    I've got a requirement for showing thumbnails of arbitrary websites. I need to be able to show small thumbnails (120px by 90px), and larger thumbnails of around 480px wide. I'll need to specify the queue and invalid placeholder images and preferably have a pingback when the queued images are processed so I can respond appropriately. I'd also need a simple API I can use either directly embedded in my HTML, or from a simple web request to queue the images. I've been looking at various services ranging from low-fi services, to large scale ones - here's some examples: www.bitpixels.com Uses Google AppEngine, seems like a prototype or a toy. Free! www.websnapr.com Tried using this, made a free account and requested a thumbnail. Waited a few minutes and refreshed a couple of times, and ended up having the account banned. Free is tricky yes, but if I can't try it out successfully I'm disinclined to pay. www.shrinktheweb.com Free account seems to be very quick. Lots of documentation on the site, and even covers local caching of the images to your own server (documentation mostly in PHP). Quality of thumbnails look good, and there appear to be sufficient options for setting thumbnail placeholder images and parameters for altering how the thumbnailing is done. Also supports large 'screenshots' of URLs - very useful for me. Discovered the PRO pricing is an à la carte menu, allowing me to select just the features I want and keep the monthly cost low. Excellent stuff, have decided to use this service. www.thumbalizr.com Good coverage of thumbnail sizes and control options - even allowing specification for browser width when thumbnailing. No ping-back, but I can live without that. Supports local caching of images with PHP API, would prefer .NET, but can port it if necessary. Looks like a fairly professional service but seems fairly expensive for the number of thumbnails you get to generate. apologies for lack of proper linking - spam protection! I'm not entirely convinced by any of them, and since this will be a long term service I'd like some stability and support. I'm willing to pay for the service, but I'd want something that fulfills most if not all of my requirements for that. I should also mention that we're hosted on Windows under IIS, so local solutions involving Xvfb and the like sadly can't be used for this project. So my question is: what services do you use? How have they panned out, are you happy with them?

    I created a sharepoint 2007 publishing site first using windows authentication, then extended it to another site using FBA. I created a FBA user and set it as site collection admin as well as top site owner. I also make application pool which the FBA site is running in to run with a user account which is within administrator group. But I encounter access deny error when browsing certain links using this site owner account. Is there other settings I need to configure? I found in the web.config, the impersonation is set to true. How does this affect the access rights?

    I am trying to connect to Office Communication Server using the Unified Communications Managed API. I have tried my user and a fresh user enabled for OCS. Both account can successfully log into the Office Communicator client, but fail using the API. When creating the network credential, if I pass in the username in the form domain\username, I get this error: SupportedAuthenticationProtocols=Ntlm, Kerberos Realm=SIP Communications Service FailureReason=InvalidCredentials ErrorCode=-2146893044 Microsoft.Rtc.Signaling.AuthenticationException: The log on was denied.   • How to log into a salesforce.com sandbox?

    I took over a Rails app and am trying to get the Salesforce.com API credentials set up for my user account. I'm set as a system admin with "Developer Mode" on (though I have no clue what that does, I just saw it set on the previous account.) We have a sandbox. I click the login link on it, enter my sandbox username ([email protected]), enter my password, and get "Login attempt has failed". I know my password is okay since I've logged into the production site several times. Using different domains (test.salesforce.com, etc) doesn't help either.

  • Authlogic OpenID: Fetching E-Mail from Provider.

    This is a really weird problem: I have set up the authlogic_openid_selector_example app. When i register, the email id is not returned by the openid provider the first time. But if i delete the account and register again, the email id is returned. But this doesn't seem to be happening in the example hosted here: http://big-glow-mama.heroku.com/. How do i fix this problem? Has this got to do with caching? I have hosted my version of the app here: http://pingauthtest.heroku.com/ I guess the author of authlogic_openid_selector_example app (@holden) has forgotten to commit new changes. :) I looked at my development log and the first time the provider doesn't return the openid.ext1.value.ext0 which contains the email id. This is returned the second time only after having deleted the account first.   • A good design pattern for almost similar objects

    Hello, I have two websites that have an almost identical database schema. the only difference is that some tables in one website have 1 or 2 extra fields that the other and vice versa. I wanted to the same Database Access layer classes to will manipulate both websites. What can be a good design pattern that can be used to handle that little difference. for example, I have a method createAccount(Account account) in my DAO class but the implementation will be slightly different between website A and website B. I know design patterns don't depend on the language but FYI i m working with Perl. Thanks

  • Login to SQL Server Express via development environment (VS2010)

    Seems like I'm missing something simple, but my attempts to connect to SQL Server Express have failed. I feel like I need to add privileges for my account but I'm not sure where to do it. Dev Env: VS 2010 (Web) SQL: Sql Server Express 2008 OS: XP Trying to open a connection to database returns: Cannot open database "|DataDirectory|DropData.mdf" requested by the login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'devel.' I created the database using the interface in VS 2010 (Add new item - DB File) but my ASP.Net class only covered design-time access and not access in code, so I'm not familiar with what to do. I created a user (Devel) using SQL Server Management Studio to avoid connecting as SA, but couldn't figure out how to give any SQL-level access rights to this account. Any ideas? Thanks, Cameron

    I'm trying to make "In App Purchase " works in my iphone app. I created some products and a few test accounts in itunes connect. I have no problem to retreive the products data (prices etc..) but when I try to make a payment - I am asked to log in - I use a test account - the transaction always fail with the following error : failedTransaction with error : Error Domain=SKErrorDomain Code=2 "Connexion à l’iTunes Store impossible" UserInfo=0x65d02a0 {NSLocalizedDescription=Connexion à l’iTunes Store impossible} I tried with several products and test account (even in other stores like us) but I still get the same error...   • PostgreSQL server not showing up in phpPgAdmin

    I have installed both phpPgAdmin and pgAdmin III on my Ubuntu 9.10 dev box. I created a server using pgAdmin III, and then added a database and populated it. I then navigated to phpPgAdmin, expecting to be able to see the server and be able to log on to the server using the postgres account. However, the only server shown 'PostgreSQL' (and it had a red cross icon). When I attempted to login using the postgres account, the following message was displayed: Login disallowed for security reasons. I have the following questions: Where is the server and database I created (they are still visible when I use pgAdmin III) How may I add another user to the server and give it access to a database?

    I have successfully installed the Clearance Gem from ThoughtBot. Clearance sends a confirmation email upon a new sign_up and suggests adding: config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => 'localhost:3000' } to your /environments/test.rb and development.rb. I have tried this and also config.action_mailer.default_url_options = { :host => '127.0.0.1', :port => 3000 } But can't seem to get rails to send the email. As I am new to both Ruby and Rails, I am wondering if there is some step/config that ThoughtBot is assuming I have already done to send emails. What am I doing wrong/missing?   • Exception when ASP.NET attempts to delete network file.

    Greetings - I've got an ASP.NET application that is trying to delete a file on a network share. The ASP.NET application's worker process is running under a domain account (confirmed this by looking in TaskManager and by using ShowContexts2.aspx¹). I've been assured by the network admins that the process account is a member of a group that has Modify permissions to the directory that contains the file I'm trying to delete. However, it is unable to do so, and instead I get an exception (changed the file path to all x's): System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. --- System.UnauthorizedAccessException: Access to the path '\xxxxxxx\xxxxxxx\xxxxxxx\xxxxxx.xxx' is denied. If the data source's impersonation information is set to "use the service account", this error occures: Error 2 Internal error: The operation terminated unsuccessfully. 0 0 Error 3 OLE DB error: OLE DB or ODBC error: Login failed for user 'NT Service\MSSQLServerOLAPService'.; 28000. 0 0 Error 4 Errors in the high-level relational engine. A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of 'Data Warehouse', Name of 'Data Warehouse'. 0 0 Error 5 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the dimension, with the ID of 'Items', Name of 'Items' was being processed. 0 0 Error 6 Errors in the OLAP storage engine: An error occurred while the 'Id' attribute of the 'Items' dimension from the 'Warehouse_MultidimensionalProject_Cube' database was being processed. 0 0 Error 7 Server: The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed. 0 0 I guessed that this account has no premissions but (1) I coudn't even add this account (it seems that it doesn't exist) and (2) how is that even possible for it to not have built-it poremissions?     Question is about paths and domains: I have an out-of-the box ASP.NET MVC project (generated by "File-New Project"). On LogOn page it does: return Redirect("~/Account/LogOn");. I have a domain name: mycompany.com, and following file structure on the server: /Root /MyApp (this is where my app goes into) Default.aspx ... I have set up following domain pointer: mycompany.com -> \MyApp When I go to mycompany.com I get an error, something about can't find mycompany.com/MyApp/MyApp/Account/LogOn Question: Where does second /MyApp path element comes from? Note: If I don't use domain pointer and deploy the site to the root - everything works just fine. Note: My hosting provider is webhost4life.com.
