• How to do orientation rotation like built-in Calc app?

  I'm trying to make an app that handles orientation/rotation similarly to the way the built-in Calc app does. If you check out that app, in portrait mode there's a normal calculator, and if you rotate to landscape mode there are additional buttons that appear to the left. I can't figure out how to do this by setting the autosize masks. The problem is the "normal" calculator view is 320px wide in portrait mode, but actually shrinks to around 240px in landscape mode to fit the additional controls. I've seen examples like the AlternateViews sample app that have two different view controllers (one for portrait and one for landscape), but they don't seem to animate the transitions between the views nicely like the Calc app does. I've also tried setting the frames for the views manually in willAnimateSecondHalfOfRotationFromInterfaceOrientation, but it doesn't seem to look "quite right" and also I'm not certain how that works with the autoresize mask. Any ideas how this is done? Thanks!

• IE6 forces Two clicks to trigger javascript style=display:inline; event

  I have a web form that has 2 radio buttons, depending on which one is clicked it displays a hidden element This works fine in all browsers except for IE6, which, after I click on the radio button, I have to click again (anywhere on the window) and then the element is displayed...has anyone had behavior like this before? I tried to not use jQuery and do straight getElementById() but I get the same behavior... • WPF Datatemplate + ItemsControl each item uses > 1 MB Memory?

  Does that sound right to anyone???? I have an ItemsControl that displays data from a custom object that implements iNotifyPropertyChanged. The DataTemplate consists of: Border 3 buttons 5 textboxes An ellipse A Bindable RichTextBox (custom class that inherits from RichTextBox... so I could make Document a dependency property (to support binding)) Several grids and stackpanels for layout It uses: Styles (stored in a resource dictionary higher up the tree) Styles affect: colors, thicknesses, and text properties: which are data-bound to a "settings" class that implements iNotifyPropertyChanged, so the user can change display settings That's it! So what gives? I've also noticed that when I empty and remove the ItemsControl, memory isn't freed. over 5000 instances of "CommandBindingCollection" and "WeakReference" are CREATED (using ANTS profiler). And huge number of EffectiveValueEntry objects are created too. So really, what gives!!! :-) Thanks for your insight! Management needs this project soon but in its current state, it's unreleasable.

  I'm fairly new to Windows programming. I'm doing a simple launcher app for WinCE using VC++ (not MFC). So far I've created the basic interface and buttons and stuff. I just wanted to know the best way to launch an external application when the user clicks the button (on BN_CLICKED). I found some methods such as ShellExecute, CreateProcess and others. But I couldn't get it to work (yet?). Any suitable reference or simple example on this?

• How to make a resolution independent camera preview on android?

  Hi all, I'm making an android 1.6 app that uses phone's camera. In order to do this app resolution independent, I need to set a compatible aspect ratio for previewing camera on a SurfaceLayout. In 1.6 sdk there is no way to get supported sizes for the camera preview. It is possible to use a 4:3 or 3:2 aspect ratio and get no errors whith that? On the other hand, I need a way to make a xml layout that represents this Surfacelayout in this (unknown) aspect ratio in every resolution. I assume that is not possible to change the SurfaceLayout size in runtime. Can I do it with "dp" units? The other way is making this layout programmatically? There are some apps like Vignette or android camera application with some tricks to make something like that, like black bars (vignette) or fixed buttons bar, but I don't know how to do it in any kind of resolution. Any ideas? Thanks!

  How can I check what objects, tools, variables, anything... are used from .NET 2.0 in a C# application. How can I get a C# application run without .NET 2.0 ? UPDATE: sorry, I didn't clarify enought. Here's my situation: I have developed a pretty simple application in C#: embeded browser which displayes static webpages with an option of searching inside of these html pages. I'm using simple textbox, buttons components for this. The application will be distribuited for people wich have very old PCs, even with windows 95. I would like the app to be runable on it, or at least on win 98, without telling the people to install .NET 2.0, as the users don;t really have PC usage skills :) .

• Performing periodic audits and best practice

  I'm doing a windows form and would like an audit task to happen every 30 seconds. This audit is essentially checking a series of services on remote computers and reporting back into a richtextbox the status. Current I have this running in an endless background thread and using an invoker to update the richtextbox in the main form. Is this best practice? If I made an endless loop in my main form that would prevent any of my buttons from working, correct? I'm just curious if every time I want to create a periodic audit check I have to create a new thread which checks the status or file or what have you?

• Package Installer misbehavoir

  Hi, I am unable to understand and fix the following behavior displayed by the Package Installer : in my application when I press on a "update application" button I download from a web server un update apk (in case there is) and start the Package Installer afterwards to install the package. Everything goes well and after the installation finishes there is displayed a view with two buttons "open" and "done" . However pressing the "open" button fails to open the installed update as it should even if the intent to the startup activity is sent as I observed in logcat . Pressing on menu button and going through the applications installed I am able to find the updated app and start it from here . What should I do to start the update by pressing open in the final Package Installed view ?

• Windows Forms Unhandled-Exception Dialog

  I want to get Default Windows Forms Unhandled-Exception Dialog whenever my C# application encounters U-E. In vs 2005 when I turn off jit Debugging in app.conf like this: <configuration> <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="false" /> <configuration> the application behaves correctly and shows Windows Forms U-E default dialog, with Continue, Quit, call stack and all. However in vs 2008, on the same machine or different, even though I diable jit I still get Default .NET Unhandled-Exception Dialog, with Debug, Send Report and Don't Send buttons. How can I make my vs 2008 app act like the one I make in vs 2005, to show Windows Forms U-E dialog box? Please do not recommend to use AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException); just because I don't use custom handler in my vs 2005 project, why would I use in vs 2008? I want to let this job do CLR. Any help is appreciated

  I can't seem to get jQuery to notice the div within the following markup <button class="button submit positive right" id="omnisubmit" type="submit"> <div class="label">Submit</div> <div class="controller">&nbsp;</div> </button> And here is the jQuery I'm currently using: $("button#omnisubmit div.controller").hover(function () { console.log("Hover..."); }); However, jQuery doesn't seem to pick up when the mouse is hovering over that div, $("button#omnisubmit div.controller").hover( works correctly, of course. I have a feeling it's because putting divs inside buttons may not be standard HTML?

• How to save text to a div using JavaScript onmouseout

  Good morning all. I have a div that I'm able to save text to when I click a save button but what I would like is if the text would just automatically save on an onmouseout event. For example: I have a div and two buttons (Save and Cancel). The user is currently able to mouse over the current text data inside the div, click on the text and they can then edit said text. The only way they can save this text is by clicking the save button. Is there a way to use onmouseout to save the text so that the user simply has to click and edit the text, then click away and have it saved? Thanks!

• How to run a .class file in Windows 7 OS?

  Hi, This is probably a stupid question, but how do I run a class file on windows 7? I usually create my own .java files and then use a basic IDE (with JDK6) to compile it to a class and run it automatically. My professor gave a .class file that we are supposed to play with extensively but I have no idea how to to run it here. Note that I cannot run it by typing: java classname.class because it contains gui stuff especially buttons and such.   what i want to do is that when you vote Y or N (two different radio buttons) and then it inserts into the "vote" column(in database) = Y or N(what you pickd), if nothing then echo error. I know how to do this like halfway, i never worked with radiobuttons before so i need you guys. Here's a two radio button right: Yes: <input type="radio" value="Y" id="voteYes" name="vote"></input> <br> No: <input type="radio" value="N" id="voteNo" name="vote"> </input> I gave the value N and Y, not the same ID, but the same name. I think its right, but how should i do with the PHP part of what i want to do? I mean shall i call for "vote"? ($_GET["vote"]) i dont think so.. here's where im stuck

• Paging To The End Of A Data View Web Part

  Hi all! Hopefully you can help me with this. I've displayed an Announcement web part on a page with 20 items. I opened up SharePoint Designer 2007 and set the paging to 6 items. I've added a little bit of (OOB) functionality so that I have buttons for START, PREVIOUS, and NEXT. These work well without any problems but I'm wondering how do I get END to work? I tried using the $LastRow & $RealLastRow values supplied by the web part but those just give me the number of how many items are in the current view, not the total items in the list. Little help!

  Is there a way to show subnode if the parent node is hidden in the Virtual String Tree ? I have some tasks in the tree structure and I wish to display only tasks which belongs to the current user as the list, but from all levels. What I've done is the function to display a list, which hides tree buttons, tree lines, sets the fixed indent and enable toShowHiddenNodes option. Then in this function I iterate through the whole tree (all levels) and hide nodes which doesn't belong to the current user IsVisible[Node] := False and show those which belongs him IsVisible[Node] := True, but the subnodes which should be displayed are invisible when their parent is hidden.   Hi,everybody I`m trying to run a window as modal directly from the code. My program starts and a main NSWindows is showed.A thread still running to see if the user has a valid distribution. if he doesn't I need to run a modal.I mean, I have no buttons clicked in the interface.I've designed a NSWindow on the interface builder for a password set, and I want to call it only when my validation is not successful.
